Excellent tutorial. I work primarily in watercolours but recently got interested in colour pencil drawings. Wildlife subjects are relatively easy but I was finding portraits a little daunting until I found your video. Shading the skin is definitely something you have to do without worrying about what the clock is doing...🤣

Personally, I usually start with what's on the top left - as a right-handed person - and on the face with the skin. I stopped the video at 4:15 and remembered the sentence you just said before: Not starting with the eyes would look creepy and now I see these eyes that look pretty creepy to me. :D (What is not an offense is just an observation)
But for me... I guess starting with the skin it looks a little like a mask. It seems empty but less creepy. I can concentrate more on the shadows than if I were already focusing on the person. The eyes, (especially the gray around the irises,) are worked on at the end because the colors stay sharp and I won't risk them to blur in the process.
I recently met a gentleman with a similar but cooler blond mane. The color ivory as a base coat paired with nougat worked wonders here. I touched up some dark hairs and shadows with black occasional strokes. He was very pleased because he didn't want to have that reddish or a yellowish cast.

Can you use the black pencil to darken shadows? Some say it is incorrect… but without it, brown is not dark enough sometimes

Yep, this video confirmed to me that likeness is the hardest thing to draw. You’re a great artist and the drawing is amazing yet the portrait still doesn’t look quite like the person on the reference photo. There’s something a tiny bit off about her nose, the right eye, the tip of her chin, and so on. It doesn’t help that your portrait is actually making her less beautiful.
