The fact Pogačar couldn’t get past him in the sprint is telling. What a ride from them both, we’re so lucky to be watching them both in their prime. Hopefully for many years to come!
In a Danish interview, Vingegaard noted that he was even thinking about retiring after the crash in the Itzulia. And now, here is he, defending his Tour 2023 against his greatest rival. What a duel, I hope it continues for years to come.
@@peterhaslund He did that as well, yes. Hence why he noted that he was considering parking the bike, because of what he has outside of the sport. It was quite moving.
I’m danish.Jonas vingegaard Said in the danish interview that he thought he was gonna die and thinking about his retirement after the crash. I was almost crying after hearing that😢😢 but happy that he’s back. Our little Viking❤️🤍 go on vingegaard. He has also Said that he’s scared to drive as fast as he can when it goes down that’s why he’s losing so much time on the decent
I am a huge fan of Jonas, and i think that in the future he will be regarded as the greatest grand tour rider of all time. BUT, this rivalry between him and the rider who i am sure will be regarded as the overall best bikerider of all time in the future, is simply legendary, and moments like what these two gentlemen of the sport gave us again today, we should all enjoy every second of, and never take for granted. The rest of this tour will be an amzing fight. I think Jonas will end up taking it, but Tadej is just soo good too, and anything is posible. With either of them not present, there would be no battle, just like in the Giro for Pogi. And we should all remember to enjoy how lucky we are to live in a time where we can see this amazing rivalry.
Im Danish. Jonas was sure he was gonna die after that crash. He fractured 6 ribs, the clavicle, punctured both lungs and couldn't breathe. He was in hospital for 12 days. He was so scared and was even considering quitting.
Having suffered a similar bike accident, I can relate to the rehab process Vin has had to undergo. Kudos to his family and medical staff for getting him to the start line. Allez Vin, Allez!
Loving this tour so far. I’ll be happy with whoever wins in the end, their rivalry and respect for each other is fascinating. Well deserved win for Jonas !
"fascinating" is the perfect description. I think that Tadej, who just appears to really love to race his bike , and the competition is the the main reason for their friendly relationship . I root for Jonas to win, but how do you root against a true sportsman like Pogacar . Love this tour.
@@stevenmeyer9674 admittedly I root for Jonas as well, he won me over in 2022, and I relate to his personality more. Tadej’s dynamic ride and “always trying” style is also fun to watch, and the guy seems genuinely kind and funny. But the fact that they are so different from each other makes their rivalry even better. Very sad that the fans are always disrespecting each other while we have a really admirable display of sportsmanship between the two riders…
This is why we watch sports... The excitement, the intensity, the effort, the emotion, the rivalries. And this was a an extra special dose of all of that. What a duel between amazing athletes!
really beautiful to see so much emotion (from someone who has won gc twice already) beautiful to se how much it means to him! makes watching even more enjoyable. good luck to both of them, looking forward to enjoy the competition!
I cannot imagine a TD without both of them. Imagine if Jonas did not make it here this year? It would be a one man boring race with UAE controlling everything and knowing that Tadej would win the tour after watching stage 2. Thank's Jonas for doing all what you needed to do to get here somehow (still blows my mind you did). Now, let's have a proper legendary for the books battle with some of the greatest GC's of all time.
Such an inspiration coming back after that crash. I saw a video from a RUclipsr a month before the tour of you flying by him during training. It made me so happy to see you back on a bike but I still can't believe you are back winning your stages already! 🎉😊
Pleased for him that was amazing! 30 seconds back to come back level and then win sprint unbelievable! Great race great rivalry both gents of the game long may it last can’t wait for rest of tour
Jonas may be my favorite athlete of all time: unassuming, humble, "ordinary" - but passionate, loving, raw, and real! I'll NEVER forget him waiting for Pogacer to get back on his bike in the '22 tour! "Great Dane" or not, he will always be THE athlete to me! 🇩🇰🇺🇸
for real, Vingegaard had the balls today, way more than Evenepoel had when he said he had big balls, cuz that was just tactically very stupid and he kinda got saved by Vingegaard not riding with them in that stage, cuz he would have lost minutes if they would have done the big balls thing.
This is what separates legends from champions, they broke down bad, but they crawl up again, these what differs from the two, pogacar and vinegard, vinegard is much more respected. The other Tdf winner we wait is egan bernal.
Always loved Jonas but I'm so impressed by Pogi, & then I still miss Primoz in Visma even though he crashed so much. I think I want Jonas to pull a trick out of the bag & win but I'd be too sad for Pogi. This year's tour is making me too invested & confused😂
Big loving hug Jonas, never stop believe in, you are suuuuper wow indeed, fans are always here to backup you 🎉❤🎉 good luck for the next races to come, bravo bravo bravo congrats, cycling competitions make my heart running thousand beats a second 🎉❤🎉
Humble guy...I still remember... he stopped when Tadaj crashed in one TDF stage..happy for him.
The fact Pogačar couldn’t get past him in the sprint is telling. What a ride from them both, we’re so lucky to be watching them both in their prime. Hopefully for many years to come!
Great rivalry and bike racing from two cycling legends
and many other riders too makes the race so exciting, we are really so lucky
Brilliant.
I was surprised Tadi went for it. He'd been drafting forever just to makes sure he didn't lose any time.
@notagain1952 He just can’t refuse a race!

Never doubt this genius. Love to see Jonas and Pogi rivalry.
i ride, i fall, i broke my bone, i puncture my lung, i heal, i practice, i compete, i won stage

Jonas so proud of you!! I was emotional overwhelmed by your tears. Absolutely beautiful. What a comeback!! Your my man!! ❤
He’s still traumatized from his crash. I love this guy ❤
He is under so much pressure. And now he has the confidence to know he can win this race. So proud of him 👍😊
I dont think he is pressured by others, its just his own battle with himself.
Be proud, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Allez Jonas! !
If you loose both legs and don’t die you are not stronger.

TdF 22 and 23 was amazing for him, even if Jonas finish 5 minutes after yellow on last stage this year this is his greatest win
So happy for Jonas!! They have the perfect rivalry, because they compete hard never backing down, and yet they have a mutual respect and admiration.
The crash was nightmare
May God bless you and your family

Any doubts about Jonas’ form were erased today. Pogi is going to have his hands full here on out and is in serious trouble.
