I'd actually start with grandpa gundam. Bandai intends people to start there so there will always be a large supply,. Plus the cheapest RX78 kits can still be had for around $10-$12
@Nepalli honi I know that dude. Astroth is from a side story. When I got my Astroth, I started IBO series. Building the Astroth and watching the series, was totally awesome. Sorry to confuse.
Thank you so much for this video, finally giving me the courage to start customizing gunpla, just bought a cheap airbrush kit, will be buying your GPaint soon as well. I've always had this build I've wanted to do with a gundam I made in Gundam Breaker 3.
Thanks for keeping up these tutorial videos. I was hoping at some point you could maybe do one on tips for kitbashing. I'm curious to know your opinion on things on ways to plan, if HG or RG is better for kitbashing, and what to do if you hit a snag like when the arms you want won't properly connect to the torso you want.
Thanks for making this video. Been seeing very incredible builds to the point that I may never be that good. So I don't try to do custom work. Now I going to try because of your video. Thank you 😊.
I needed this. As soon as I won wayback 2014, in the GBWC here (new challenger opem cat) - I just stopped doing modifications. No idea why, I just did and just went to the good ol' basic plamodeling. Thank you for litting up that fire again haha
You know what, I looked modified/painted a lot and I thought that I can only paint, I won’t able to modify or customize for my whole life. And that’s it, you announce the premiere of this video!!!!! Ps.the tutorial playlist has many of same videos, please fix it
I've built 21 kits so far, been too scared to customize any of them more than panel lining. But this video might just be enough to make me overcome that fear. Thank you
Funny, I'm watching this video while assembling my first kit which is also a RG Destiny👌And I just cut a tiny ergot that make the rotation of the cockpit door thinking it was a nub mark 😅 Thank you very much for your work, I watched one of your custom videos last week just out of curiosity and you made me want to start gunpla. It's been a long time since I had so much fun !
See this is why I think gunpla is the best model kit concept. When I first started to get into model kits I first did cars, the assembly and decals were my favorite part, however when it came to painting I was never satisfied with how it turned out, I always managed to fuck it up in some way, I don’t want to spend 100-200$ on a air brush when I can build a model kit that will look like it does in the anime with no paint at all. Sure you can definitely use paint to spice it up and give it more flavor but I can manage that, weathering was my favorite part to any model kit.
Hahaha, Just right before you mentioned about your hair, I was staring at those Hair and thinking that is a lot of hair LOL I just started my first custom Panel Lines yesterday.
Topcoat BEFORE you decal and then finally top coat to finish. Thanks man, you probably saved me a headache in the future! Thinking of going with a gloss instead of semigloss before the matte finish. Think it will make a difference?
So... one day my little brother asked me to paint all his SDEX's because I had gundam markers, he didn't want anything fancy, just for the stickers to be replaced with paint, just last night i finally finished painting his Destiny Gundam. oh lord...
Just wanna say, I started real recently and am currently trying to do an rg eva01 to the utmost precision I can. It’s my third kit and my first was also the rg destiny, sazabi is up next then I’m going to dip my toes into customising. Awesome video.
I think like my first small customized model kit was the banshee cause I didn't like the orange so used the gold marker I have from the shiny metallic set.
Man I found a great use for cardboard cat scratchers you can use em to hold you alligator clips instead of buying a expensive plastic stand. 5 bucks can get you one and hold at least 25 clips comfortably without parts touching
Each single word I feel it truly from your hard as is not shame to be failed in first time as you say please keep up ...Im not gandam builder but i feel i want build one and I should to do that all that from you and your channel you make my day to build the first gandam in my hand 🤚🏼 thanks
My Barbatos Lupus and Barbatos Lupux Rex was destroyed by kids on a family gathering, Most of the parts are still intact but the smaller ones are lost. I really want to make a custom one using those two and this guide is very helpful for beginners like me
Hey Justin, can you make a tutorial on how to build your DIY spray booth? I've got almost everything I need for airbrushing, just need a spray booth now!
Thank you! So did i hear you right..after you paint you assemble and then top coat everything together at the same time while assembled? Not top coat the pieces or even parts separately? Cheers
getting ready to start my journey on customizing although for painting i got a small cheap airbrush kit to start with, but as far as paints not sure what to use yet other than i feel enamel will be the way to go. thanks for the tutorials glad im getting on the right track! lol
I am a big fan of minimalistic builds. I am not a fan of kit bashing or the different color schemes, but this is the other's people styles and it's completely normal and ok. Mine is keeping it close to the original, while emphasizing with light touches and/or paint, that this is a purpose build war machine. Weathering here, metal scratches over there, maybe some rust or dirt, or maybe I will keep it clean and minty. Whatever or however I feel like it
Hi! I have a question for every hobbyist with some experience. I want to put some water slide decals on a stock exia, no repaint whatsoever. Do I still have to topcoat before applying the panel lining and decals?
hi i was wondering if you can make a video about spray booth, because im moving to a new apartment and doesnt have access to outdoor painting. Other than that informative video as always :D
Well when I get my pale rider cavalry which I will make into a full melee striker custom I will prob buy a bunch of melee weapons lol and my painting will prob be a light black and a dark blue like vidar but the blue will be like the color on the Subaru BRZ
sir, may i know how you assemble them back by looking the instruction. I means, each of the join had it label. But you already disamble them, then how you know which is which? Sorry, im too curious at this part. Do you mind to explain it. Thnks!
Hey thanks man, I've been wondering how i can customise some kits that I've built and what you've been using to do your customisation. excited to start now
Websites like Mr. Hobby have different spray topcoats. They say you should not spray a lacquer topcoat over enamel (like panel lines) or water-based (like waterslides). But do you say that it's ok? Great encouragement, thank you!
If you don't have good idea how your kitbash gunpla will look like, I suggest you to play New Gundam Breaker on steam. I've customised my Barbatos with Psycho Zaku booster, Astray swords and everything but too bad the save file got corrupted lol.
i recently got these metallic waterslides for my rg sazabi, should i avoid using a matt topcoat and go for a gloss? I personally like matt finish more on my kits, but dont want to dull the shine of these decals
how to start? having some decent amount of SPARE money to spend. . let alone customizing, i cant even afford for a single gunpla kit. love your videos anyway. . its just poverty loves me so much.
Why did you sand it after disassembly. Genuinely asking since MG Barbatos is arrive tomorrow and it's my first ever model. :D I plan to paint it in the future cuz I don't have enough cash for everything currently
So once you paint it and put it together, how the heck do you keep the paint from getting scratched at the joint?!?? Top coat dose not seem to protect it.
Hi! I have this question. I don't understand if it's a good practice to build your model before to start customizing and paint... is it recommended? And why should I do this? I have to pay attention to something in particular when I build it for the first time and then I disassemble it?
What about top coating unpainted models? I have a Bandai General Grievous and it's water decals fall off if I touch them directly, would top coating fix this? I also heard top coating removes the toy aesthetic some kits such as the Z'gok have
This is going to sound really dumb but at some point could you do a video explaining how to use different hands on kits. I’ve noticed since I started building that some of the older kits have different style hands then some of the newer hands. And on the newer hands where all the fingers articulate, I have the worst time getting weapons and what not to stay in the hands without falling right out.
“You’ll buy another kits” damn true
Doesn't even give you a choice to buy one or not.
Money is stopping me ☹
@Davian Vega Kalani hey sorry but what does y.o mean btw and thanks for replying
@@hyp3rx312 y.o = year old
I'll going to buy some hg gm kit... it's plain and simple and cheap... perfect for scribing and panel lining practice...
Nice...good idea... ;)
The Loto is also great for this since you get two in the kit
I'd actually start with grandpa gundam. Bandai intends people to start there so there will always be a large supply,. Plus the cheapest RX78 kits can still be had for around $10-$12
Premium Bandai! Go hard or go home. 😉

I'm customizing my Astroth, into Astroth Warrior. I'm even making additional shoulder pads and thrusters for space. Love the IBO series.
@Nepalli honi I know that dude. Astroth is from a side story. When I got my Astroth, I started IBO series. Building the Astroth and watching the series, was totally awesome. Sorry to confuse.
@Airborne Z gekko
I love ibo too. Just finished adding sub arms, extra weapons and beams effects to my kitbashed Barbie Lupus Rex

All questions starting with “How to” is now answered
dude yeah i agree
I bought doubles of the first kit I did to customize so I could get the feel for it.
Quick, direct and easy to understand. Best tutorial so far.
tip no.2 of not set our expectations too high is the best tip. thanks Justin!

Planing to do a kitbash of several GM line models going for a UC0093 Version of the Sniper II
I like the red frame
I just customized the GBN guard frame and frick should have waited
You are so great, bro. Love you
Hi! I have a question for every hobbyist with some experience. I want to put some water slide decals on a stock exia, no repaint whatsoever. Do I still have to topcoat before applying the panel lining and decals?
If you are using enamel based panel lining you should top coat first since enamel will corrode plastic. As for decals you can skip the first top coat
I'd love to see what you do with the destiny gundam especially using the master grade or revive high grade because you make great custom color schemes
Cool video dude and really Explanatory I loved it
"your goin buy another one anyways"
yea....yea i am
I'm hopeing to start painting some GM 1s
Thanks so much for the video(s)! I've been wanting to custom a kit for a while now and I think I'm ready to start

What kind of topcoat should I use before applying panel lines amd decals? Matte or clear?
Depends how you want your gundam to look. If you want it clear pick clear. And same for matte
Im gonna customize a GM Gun-Cannon and i might eventually kitbash but thats for future me
sir, may i know how you assemble them back by looking the instruction. I means, each of the join had it label. But you already disamble them, then how you know which is which? Sorry, im too curious at this part. Do you mind to explain it. Thnks!

Hey thanks man, I've been wondering how i can customise some kits that I've built and what you've been using to do your customisation. excited to start now
Please do and have fun! 😃
What would happen if I use industrial clear spray as topcoat? And is it okay if I just paint some parts and leave the rest as they are
Test it on plastic spoon first so you have an idea how the finish look like
Just started this year. Thanks for the advice
My first kit was yours haha how many people buy that kit to start gundam models
Websites like Mr. Hobby have different spray topcoats. They say you should not spray a lacquer topcoat over enamel (like panel lines) or water-based (like waterslides). But do you say that it's ok? Great encouragement, thank you!

Would you ever do a tutorial about seamlime removal?
i recently got these metallic waterslides for my rg sazabi, should i avoid using a matt topcoat and go for a gloss? I personally like matt finish more on my kits, but dont want to dull the shine of these decals

there's an entry grade rx 78-2 which cost around 5 dollars (depends on where ur purchase). its a good kit to start with.
You can get a decent kit to start with for around 10 to 20 bucks
I usually customised my gunpla by kitbashing kits together
Usually what size of chisel u use for scribbing for beginner..
I just started customizing my PG exia and it took a week just by disassembling it and sanding everything down.
Why did you sand it after disassembly. Genuinely asking since MG Barbatos is arrive tomorrow and it's my first ever model. :D I plan to paint it in the future cuz I don't have enough cash for everything currently
I remember when I have gundam Exia repair but I customize it
So once you paint it and put it together, how the heck do you keep the paint from getting scratched at the joint?!?? Top coat dose not seem to protect it.
what red paint did you use in gundam astray red frame

Hi! I have this question. I don't understand if it's a good practice to build your model before to start customizing and paint... is it recommended? And why should I do this? I have to pay attention to something in particular when I build it for the first time and then I disassemble it?
Popsicklestcks and what kind of thumbtacks?
dont you need primer so that the paint doesnt wear off? or would top coating prevent that?
Thanks fam this video really helped 🔥

Im going to try resin kitbashing soon, do you have any tips or advice :)?
Yay my request
Just got a zaku sniper
And i want to customize it to make it unique to me
Since it my first im going small with like a red line on the monoeye part
Can you use a Gundam marker for coloring?

How to dry the paints without getting dust and debris on it
Hi, what is the gundam @06:05 ? Thank you in advance
Hey thanks for the tutorial I'm trying to to kit bash the destiny with a few others it's definitely a mission trying to make it blend Armor wise
I start disambling my gunpla, and i break few of em, mostly on the joint, had to think smarter when disambling them again
you can trim the male/female pegs if you are going to dissamble the kit later. It will be easier to take off
@@placross those are my kits i build long time ago before i find this tutorial, i'll make sure to cut the female part at my next project
@Black Chandelier Mirage yap, i'm gonna buy that, thanks for the advice :)
awesome video, may I ask what brand of paint you recommend to hand paint on the small details?
