"This Lav mic isn't cheap" - LOL damn right! those MKE-2 lavaliers are over £300 😀
All those "little bits" that pinged across the studio are to sculpt & tune it for the voice & application i.e. if it's under heavy clothing etc.
It's sounds V bright & detailed so would probably benefit from a concealed placement under clothing or a foamy or fluffy, maybe try it placed lower and more central too.
It also cuts very well with a boomed MKH416 so it's definitely a nice addition to the collection.

Are you uk based because the frequencies seem incompatible with offcom licencing?

I am - this demo unit was using EU frequencies because it came from the German HQ (I changed it before using it at a show)

Is wireless so good, using it in the studio isn't unreasonable?

If you wanted to, sure! It’s full-range transmission so no different than a good active buffer stage. I’ve done this before in the studio with a musician who had a bass ukelele with a wireless kit permanently fixed, and it sounded incredible because the digital technology allows it to be transparent

@@adamsteelproducer tech is changing faster than I can keep up. I appreciate all tech that reduces, size, weight and extends ease of use. I started with a Vestex cassette 4 track and a few cheap mics. Digital was a game changer. I can't afford a $50/hr. studio, which would be thought of as the more affordable end. Now I am recording stuff that sounds better than the studios we were paying for. As of about 1/1/2 years ago, thanks to you and others, I have began the Reaper journey. I still don't know what I am doing, but at least I am writing, tracking and mixing. Now if I could just tighten up my instrumental performances, that would be great.
