OMG you are costing me a fortune, firstly I need new containers for my flour and sugar so I can get my cup measures to fit, I'm from the UK so don't generally use cup measures, secondly a whole new wardrobe with all this friendship bread eating I am expanding by the day! I am loving this series and plan to print out all of your recipes and hand them to friends as gifts this Christmas, why should I be the only one to get fat! (or fatter lol)
😂
Oh my goodness! Chocolate on steroids! My kind of holiday treat! Thank you for sharing this awesome recipe. Blessings on your day Kiddos! 🥰🌻🐛
I’ve never had that, might need to try it. Maybe a pumpkin version or apples and cinnamon. Maybe bake in a donut pan. Or soft cookies, chocolate with peanut butter chips. Crepes even? I definitely need to play with this one….after the holidays. Thanks for the recipes!
It looks like the kind of cake that when you cut it you can’t stop! 🥰
Looks yummy!!! I made 4 of the Amish Friendship cinnamon loaves day before Thanksgiving. They were delicious as I remembered from the 70's. I ran across an old newspaper article with my recipies ( I knew I had this stored away) from a local newspaper way back when on the Amish starter. They had about 3 recipies in it. German Pineapple Herman, Herman White Bread and Herman Yeast Rolls. I also found a recipe card that I wrote out for Herman Oatmeal Cookies. BUT..........I also found (from the 70's) a really fun Friendship topping mix!! This was such a colorful mix to have on the counter and delicous over Vanilla Ice Cream. In a glass container or jar add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup peaches, 1 cup marischino cherries , 1 cup pineapple (canned fruit no juice to the mix) and 1 jugger rum. Stir well and let sit on counter. 2 weeks later, add 1 cup peaches, 1 cup sugar and 1 jigger rum and stir. 2 weeks later add 1 cup cherries, 1cup sugar and 1 jigger rum and stir, 2 weeks later add 1 cup pineapple 1 cup sugar and 1 jigger rum. Keep the top loose on the jar and never put in the refrigerator. You can use some after the first 2 weeks and then just keep adding every 2 weeks to it with fruit.
Rachel you had me at double chocolate. I especially love to see you and hubby enjoy the results. The crunch tip is welcomed. I've used coco to coat a pan. I've used sugar on pie crust but the combo is excellent for the bread. I so enjoy all your videos.
Rachel, I started my starter after watching your video and I have made so many recipes, I love it!!!!! This is so fun!!! Can't wait for more videos!
That is a great Thanksgiving treat because it was made with love using your own 2 hands ❤
GOODNESS is right!! Wow. YUMMY!
Just made the starter and looking forward to this bread ,pizza, pancakes .
I made pie crust along with you for Thanksgiving with the sourdough starter. I was going to make chocolate bread to except with peppermint extract and add crushed candy canes. I love the content so versatile. Much love 😊
I think I’d have to try one with mint chips or Andes mint pieces 😊
Ooooo, overhead view🎉 That’s fun🤗
I've made this bread twice since the weekend... it's a huge hit here! Thanks for sharing!
I’m going to make this, slice it up then dehydrate it to make homemade Biscotti for Christmas gift baskets!!❤
OMGOODNESS what a Phenomenal idea... Thank You 😊🙏 Kendra
This looks Soo yummy. Chocolate is so good around the holidays ❤
That looks yummy, Rachel!
This looks delicious!
Yay!!! Today is my day 10, so guess what I’m making?!?! (I used GF flour, so will let you know how that goes!) I was going to make chocolate cake yesterday, but didn’t have a mix and didn’t want to go from scratch because of too much to do. But today! Yes!!! Totally worth it to try this out.
Please share your gluten free experience!! I would love to know how it turns out!
Let us know how this turns out!!!
I would love to know how it turns out as well! Thank you!
Yes, please let us know how your GF version went. And what type of GF flour you used. Thank you!
I made the starter with GF flour, I use Sarah’s blend, and I have to say it turned out absolutely awesome. I can’t wait to try the chocolate bread.
Looks very good Rachel.
My husband can eat a whole loaf himself 🤣🤣 and he is still as skinny as a pretzel stick!
I wanted to let you know we delivered 7 loaves to amish bread to all our neighbors today❤☺ Thanks for sharing
Rachel… I’m elated you’re doing this my friend!!! We’re currently living in our Outfitter Tent while building our off grid Cabin and I’m cooking on a flat top Wood stove ! I really miss baking my homemade Brown Bread snd am SCOURING the internet for recipes I can utilize in my setting ⛺️🪵
One day you will be excited to cook this way again once your in house . A sun oven would allow you to bake . You are on a very cool adventure. Blessings
That looks Scrumptious!!! Thank you for another great recipe with the Amish sweet bread starter!!! God Bless!!!
Looks delicious 🤤
Oh my goodness, these look amazing, I bet they are very tasty
I made our traditional amish bread a few days ago and thought to myself...hmmm...wonder if I could use chocolate pudding mix and add chocolate chips. Yay!!! I wonder if I could add a mashed banana or two as well...yum.
Can't wait to try this!!!
Hi Rachel 😊 greatings from Germany🙋 i bought myself an amish cookbook, it includes the friendships bread and many other recipes, which I'm looking Forward to try, thx for your inspiration, Love your Chanel ♥️
So many possible variations! This chocolate one might be fun to try in summer with fresh homemade ice cream on top of the warm bread! Mmmm!
I made this recipe the other day and it’s delicious! The recipe I used called for oil and no additional chocolate other than the pudding. Made dinner rolls for Thanksgiving, too. Interested to see how yours turned out…. My were a little rough and heavy 😂 we ate them anyways!
Ooh when it’s hot, I like to add spread butter on it.
Yummy!
Ooooh Rachael I love your sweater! Great recipe too!
Would love to see a video on your coffee extract ❤
Yummy yummy
YUM !

Looks so yummy! I just can't eat like that anymore 😞
That looks so yummy Rachel 😋😋🙏 Kendra
One recipe I ate used a box of pistachio pudding, you can go the sugar free route and use sugar free pudding and stevia. It was very good
Hi Rachel ❤
I like the concept and am enjoying the series. I wonder though, if there’s a low sugar version of the starter… 🤔
Looks great! Where did you get glass jars your flour is in?
Hi,love your videos!I have learned so much and you make it so simple to understand the whole process of canning. But I was watching your video on canning lids and was wondering if you have used the Lehman lids? I'm considering trying them and just wondering if you have any opinions on them.they are suppose to be thicker and have a blue seal,or are they just as good as the name brands?just wondering.
Can you tell me what is the purpose of adding the starter to the recipe , ?? great video's ,love your channel.
Could you freeze dry the starter?? You said in another video you could freeze it. Would you do a video to see if it would be active? Thank you love all your videos.
Mz Rachel I noticed you use box milk I do the same thing because I don't use enough unless the grandsons are here.
I'm not sure if you know that Dollar Tree carries box milk they carry it in whole milk 2%, 1% and almond I buy it all the time for $1.25 a carton I usually buy it by a six pack or a 12 pack and keep it because we all know it's really Self Stable and the whole milk tastes just like fresh whole milk.. I thought I just let you know that in case you weren't aware I don't know how much you're spending on your cartons but $1.25 to me is pretty reasonable
I have bought it a couple times as well, but my Dollar Tree doesn’t always have it.
If I separate on day 10, how long will it last in the fridge until I need to use?
I was thinking of doing the regular bread. Any tips. Was it heavy
Did you make a video on your coffee extract/liquor?
Can you put your starter in the fridge if you go out of town?
Wonder if you only used two eggs if it would be less cake like? 🤔
Do you have a Playlist of these Recipes?
Do you think it would make good chocolate, chocolate Amish muffins?
Somebody send Rachel a real bread knife! Lol. Looks so yummy!
How about you? I’m sending her something else.
❤❤❤
Maybe I had particularly sensitive ears today but I had to turn the video off. Idk if it is possible to adjust the sound when you are working (the sifter and chocolate chips 🙉👂‼️) vs speaking or if you've considered a lapel mic so it doesn't pick up the surrounding noises so much. Idk. The bread looks awesome and if I ever make a friendship bread starter I would absolutely try to make it! I enjoy your Channel very much . I don't think I've had to turn one off before.
Edit: typos
What is the story behind your salt bowl terrine??
I'm confused.😬 I've watched all the videos but must have missed something.🤦♀️So you can use a cup of the starter whenever needed for what you want to make? And do you then need to feed it when you take from it or not? (Other than days 6 & 10)
I have heard that if you cut into bread that was still so hot it becomes gummy. Do you find this is true?
Hope your Thanksgiving was a fantastic one!
Did your 1-year old grandchild like the secret child's hideout?
warm fire, my binky, a tall glass of milk........ and That! oh, wow..... ;)
hey :)
👍💞
It looks amazing! I'm not from the US and we don't have instant pudding mix here, I don't really know what it is, even after googling 😆 not sure what we'd be able to supplement. The word 'pudding' here generally means 'dessert' so it can be anything from cake to pie to ice cream. Though an actual pudding here is a baked sponge desert with sauce, just to be confusing. I'd love to try this starter but definitely need to do some more research before figuring out how to use it in a similar way. Anyway, its been an interesting baking journey to follow you on :)
I live in the US and I think you would have to find some kind of instant cornstarch in order to replicate instant pudding mix. You might be able to just make this recipe with powdered milk, more cocoa, sugar and cornstarch. That would actually probably work, since it is baked anyway.
Here, what we think of as pudding is milk and eggs cooked with some kind of flavoring until it’s thickened. Then we put it in the fridge to set and eat it cold. I don’t really care for it myself, but most people do.
😄💐🙏🇺🇲
Eggs is the store are so small, even when it says jumbo. Ugh
