So happy that I could not sleep the whole night.Because My hubby though I bought it from the pasar malam.

It is so delicious.
Thanks.
I made the Apam Balik, was good. Thank u . At last, after 40 years I get to taste it again .
+Wai Ling Suan Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad it turned out well for you. :-)
Thank you for sharing, I am making it, the batter is left to proof now. In Penang, we add in some oil to the batter so that it will be more crispier, a Chef said. And will pour some melted Planta before sprinkle the filling.
Thanks for the tips. If you want a thin & crispy version, try this one ruclips.net/video/jEDxt74zXpM/видео.html Thanks again :-)
I love this food. I got to try this one and hope for the best Thank you for your good food nice healthy food thank you very much .
Thank you for the wonderful recipe. Can we keep the balance of batter in the fridge ?
Yes, definitely
I made 3 pieces and it was yummy! Thank you for the recipe!
Fantastic! Thanks for the feedback.
May I know why need to refrigerate the batter for 5 hours or overnight? Thanks
hi loved looking at this recipe! i was wondering a) the heat you put your flame on whilst you cooked i.e: high heat, medium heat, high medium heat, etc. i've tried making apam balik with another recipe and it turned light and dark in different places- b) any tips on how to make it fully brown like yours?
Check out the video @.54 it stated on "low heat". Thanks.
Flavours Of Asia thank you! totally slipped past me haha!
Hi,love watching your video as I'm a vegetarian is there a possibility to omit the egg in this recipe. Thanks
Selvarani Krishnasamy Thanks for your support. Unfortunately you need egg for this recipe. I read somewhere you can replace egg with banana puree, if you don't mind the taste. (1/4 cup banana puree=1 egg) or 1 Tbsp of soy flour + 3 Tbsp water, mix well= 1 egg. Hope this help..xx
Thank You!!
Hi Flavours of Asia, just to make sure before I do it, is it Baking Soda or Baking Powder that needs to be mixed with the All Purpose Flour?
Also, can a few drops of Essence of Vanilla or Pandan be added to the batter so that it gives a distinct flavor?
Thank you.
Hi there, there's no baking powder in the recipe, just the baking soda. You can add any flavoring of your choice, I'm sure it will taste okay but not the original Apam Balik. Thanks.
Can I let batter sit only for 1 hour or 1h 30 mins. Pls reply I'm trying to make this today
Sorry for the late reply..if your area/temp is warm, then you can try.
may i know how many of these could i make with the amount used in your recipe? around 2-3 maybe?
This recipe makes 4 pieces , about 5 to 6 inches in diameter.
@@Seasaltwithfood noted, thanks a lot
Hi, can i use machine instead of hand? 1 cup =how many kg, liter?
Hi ma'm, can you upload APAM MAKING, apam with no filling but center pop up like a small ball, a little firmer than the outer layer, whereby it is soft.
Childhood delicious snack. In singapore still able to find that, miss that snack a lot.
TQ.
I'll try my best :-) Thanks for the support.

GOOD MORNING MA'm
Tks for your prompt respond.
i'm new to your channel, and quite amazed by all your wonderful treats! i'm wondering if i can replace white flour with whole wheat while making them!
+Earth Nymph Thanks for your support. I'm not sure this recipe work well with whole wheat flour..sorry.
+Flavours Of Asia thank you for your answer, maybe i'll try it with whole wheat and let you know!
i like the "edge" look of min chiang kuih when it is cooked.
One well loved breakfast dessert at Singapore
Ha Ha! Mee too...:-)
In indonesia also very popular. We called it Martabak🙂
I don't have cane sugar so can I use demerara sugar or jaggery in this recipe as a substitute? ?
You can try, but it will taste diff...or you can use castor or granulated sugar?
+Flavours Of Asia thank you :)
These were amazingggg. had to double the recipe even; that's how good they were. Thanks for the recipe. cheers!
Fantastic! Thanks for the feedback :-)
Unlike the crispy edges. That's signature style of apam balik. Some sweet corn paste on the topping👍
I'm not sure if this question has been asked already but I'd like to know how many servings this recipe is suitable for?
This recipe yields 4 (5-6 inches ) Apam Balik.
Hi, just want to know this: after taking out from fridge must we let it cool down to room temperature before frying
Not necessary. Thanks.

Nageswary Vanham This pancake is best consume warm or at room temperature. I'm not sure they will still taste good after an hour.

Ary Afzan Thanks for your kind comment. Yes, there's another version without yeast (www.seasaltwithfood.com/2009/05/pancakes-with-peanuts-filling.html) which is crispy & thinner pancakes. Good luck & hope you like this recipe. Btw, I'm based in Vancouver, Canada.

Scarlett Tan You're most welcome. Enjoy!
Hi, i was wondering how to make the Apam balik crispy version?
***** Thanks for the comment. I have the crispy version on my blog. Here is the link; www.seasaltwithfood.com/2009/05/pancakes-with-peanuts-filling.html I'll try to make a video later.
How come there is yeast in the batter? Growing up, I've always had the concept of yeast being used for dough only.
If you don't like yeast...then try the crispy version...ruclips.net/video/jEDxt74zXpM/видео.html

Ive been looking for a recipe for this the last couple of days and you upload one today =D Weeehehe I cant wait to try this. Thank you for the upload!
neetudolly Well, I'm glad that hv uploaded this recipe/video then. Thanks for the comment and support.
I always have it with butter spread over the top or inside :):):)
Summer Gan You can add a dollop of butter inside. I've seen some hawker, they liked to brushed the butter on the outside too, I personally think it's not necessary.
My girlfriend always spread
In indonesia is "kue terang bulan" 😊😊😊
ra sya You have this kueh in Indonesia too? Thanks for the info. :-)
Flavours Of Asia one of my family's favorite kueh..... welcome... thx for ur video 👍👍👍👍👍
Tak sama macam terang bulan
Terang bulan tebal sikit
Kalau ini tipis je
CBM tv yang penting sama menunjukam kalau indonesia dan malaysia itu setumpun :)
Kue terang bulan/martabak bangka/martabak bandung (meskipun jualnya di jkt)
try put some sweet corn as topping...
Yes, taste great with cream corn. Here is the link for Crispy version using cream corn. Thanks. ruclips.net/video/jEDxt74zXpM/видео.html
When I cook it the inside was so soft
It is supposed to be soft but not "mushy"..add a bit more flour, if needed. Or you can try the crispy version. here is the link ruclips.net/video/jEDxt74zXpM/видео.html Thanks.
In Indonesia we called this kue Martabak
+sdyl75 lubis Thanks for the info.
di malaysia ada "Apam Balik", ada "Murtabak". kedua itu adalah makanan yang berlainan. :)
In malaysia, Murtabak is chicken or beef mix with special ingredient and wrap with roti canai doh.. Most likely indian style cook.. We can eat just murtabak itself alone or dip into vinegar onions mixture..
.
Apam balik in other hands, just like the video.. We malaysian prefer the simplest apam balik; only sweet corn, peanuts, sugar as a topping.. Sometimes we put some choc rice or red bean.. But the original recipes is the best!
Can you please let us know the exact measurements of flour and water
+Sangeeta Bala Check the description box for more details on the recipe. Thanks.
+Flavours Of Asia thank you so much.
look good wat are e measurements
What would happen if no egg used? Vegan here
Egg is more of a binder than adding flavor. It keeps the whole thing together so that they don't break apart. Try using potato starch.
Martabak manis
+Nikmah Ng Ya, I found out thru some of my Indonesian subscribers. The recipe might be a bit diif, but I'm sure they taste really good. I'm going to make a banana with shredded coconut version, had that in Jakarta. Yum!
ground peanuts
try adding corn
+Nuovo Soul Yes, you can add that too.
Terang bulan :)
Mohd Izwan Syafiq Indonesia peniru makanan malaysia
