Professional Wrestler. Amateur Wrestler. Born Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri. The Iron Sheik rose to fame in the 1980's as one of the greatest heels in the wrestling world. He captured the WWF World Heavyweight Championship in December of 1983, ending Bob Backlund's 5 year long reign. The Sheik would lose the title to Terry Bollea, AKA Hulk Hogan at the MSG on January 23, 1984. In 2005, The Iron Sheik was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He became a popular figure in the 2000's for his infamous rants & tweets on various topics and subjects.
Vaziri was a Shia Muslim and a former soldier in the Imperial Iranian Army. He married American Caryl Peterson on March 21, 1976; the best man at the wedding was "Mean" Gene Okerlund (whom the Sheik often referred to as "Gene Mean" in his broken English). His eldest daughter Marissa Jeanne Vaziri was murdered by her boyfriend Charles Warren Reynolds after an altercation in May 2003 at the age of 26. Reynolds was taken into custody and later convicted of the crime. Reynolds himself died in prison on May 31, 2016. Vaziri had two other daughters as well as five grandchildren.
Despite promising to repair his family, Vaziri was unable to successfully quit drugs following Marissa's death. Vaziri was reported to have been extremely angered after his daughter's death to the point where he considered retaliation against her killer.[49] In 2005, the family believed Vaziri was a danger to himself and others and forced him to enter rehabilitation; an employee allegedly snuck in cocaine for him. In 2007, Peterson walked out on Vaziri after several failed attempts to make him quit drugs. She returned two years later on the condition that Vaziri sever ties with a friend who helped him acquire them. In 2013, Vaziri said he had been off cocaine for four years.
In August 2013, Iron Sheik's managers Page and Jian Magen crowdsourced $40,441 to write, direct and produce a documentary, Iranian Legend: The Iron Sheik Story Originally, the documentary was scheduled for a 2008 release under the title Iron Sheik: From A to Z.Sheik's documentary was released in 2014 under the title The Sheik. On November 6, Vaziri challenged the then-Mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford, to an arm wrestling match at his office.
Starting in the late 2000s, Vaziri became known for his Twitter account, which features violent, profanity-ridden Tweets denouncing various pop culture events. He did not write the Tweets himself; his managers, Jian and Page Magen, handled the account.
Vaziri died at home in Fayetteville, Georgia, on June 7, 2023. The Iron Sheik’s cause of death was cardiac arrest with congestive heart failure and hypertension as contributing factors.
The Iron Sheik’s gravesite is in Peachtree City, Georgia at Westminster Memorial Gardens.
For people like me who can't see these celebrities Graves and leave something. Scott thank you with all my heart. Have a blessed day 🙏
I can remember being 10 years old, in 1972 and saw the Sheik for the first time in NWA.... he scared me to death!!!! He was such a great heel... lived a rather.... shall we say wild life... but he never minced his words or thoughts. Thank you, Scott. You always talk about wrestling and wrestlers with the respect that they so deserve. THANK YOU!!!!
good morning my friend ladydragonsblood am wondering if that same sheik wrestler in the 1070's Big Time Wrestleing too
@@larryvermeer6170 No, not the same Sheik. The Sheik you are thinking about is Edward George Farhat...who passed in 2003.

Good Afternoon Scott 🙋🏾. When the Iron Sheik was wrestling that was the best wrestling ever. I love ALL the wrestlers from his Era. THE wrestling today doesn't compare to the wrestling of yesterday. In MY Opinion 🤷🏾. Thank You Scott for Inviting me to watch your video. His Era doesn't seem that long ago. But you get my gist.👋🏾
The Iron Sheik was one of my favorites!!! Another amazing video Scott!!!
Thanks for the memories, "Jabroni" , and thanks for making me....."love to hate you" as a kid growin' up in the '80's !! Rest in peace, Shieky Baby! _LEGIT TOUGH GUY_ !! #absolutelegend
I remember the sheik when he was a guest on the stern show and wanted to humble certain people. And he wanted to arm wrestle. 45 and his Twitter was out of this world. Rip to the sheik

I am watching this video on my tablet my computer is taking to long love the videos keep them a coming
In the 80´s I saw the Sheik on a card at the local high school. Afterwards my wife and I went to a local bar for a drink. Well in comes the Sheik and Harley Race to buy some 6 packs. The couple of guys sitting there booed when they saw him, but I got up and went over and shook his hand and thanked him for his entertainment. He was built like a brick wall. What a nice guy, they left after getting the 6 packs. I´ll never forget it.
I used to drink in this bar in detroit with the westiers from Big Time Wrestling in the 1970's too
Surprised Harley didn't knock the guy out😂
Good morning my friends who liked this comment of mine here too
He was really famous in his day., ❤❤
I remember watching wwf with my grandfather when I was a young man and he cursed the iron Shiek every time 😆
It was a fantastic memory
He passed in 2001
Thanks for the trip down memory lane Scott
I haven't thought about the Iron Shiek in years
Fantastic video
Rest in paradise
Mr.Hossein Khosrow Ali Vazir
The one and only Iron Sheik
❤✌️😎
I’ve noticed the older wrestlers sure seemed to have a much longer life span compared the later wrestlers. Great video I remember back in the 80s as a kid watching all these guys. I loved watching Junkyard dog and Jack the snake back then
he lived a good life even though he was doing drugs so that is great for him to live longer than others and it is very sad that his daughter had to be killed and they were also doing drugs and drinking and it is sad he had to go that far and long ago she did not even get to live her life thanks for sharing Scott and RIP Iron and Marissa 💐💐💐
Thank you for sharing this, I knew he was laid to rest here in GA but didn't know where.
RIP Iron Sheik 💐 I liked and shared this video 📹 out your welcome Scott 😊❤
Do you remember the boots he used to wear? Big curled “genie toes” on them, when the ref would look away, he’d tap the toes to “load” them before kicking the snot out of someone. Especially Hogan, the big jabroni
Hello Scott great video keep it up
Thanks! Scott for another amazing episode ❤
Thank you so much Angela !
@@SCOTTONTAPE your welcome Scott

Hi Scott i've been so lonely with losing my mom and my dad in 2003. You give me comfort. If i ever met you i'd give you a big hug.❤from Vickie
I remember watching him. I discovered your channel through Adam the woo, The Grimm Life Collective and Jordan the Lion. I can tell that you really research your topics and explain them to your audience. I am very happy that I found you.
Excellent Video!
Iron Sheik !!! .. a Legend !!!
Thank you for the video long time fan of the Iron shield sadly what set him over the edge was the murder of his daughter
I'm your new subscriber, love from india
So sad about his daughter
I like to watch shoot interviews with old wrestlers. The Iron Sheik's name comes up a lot in those interviews. It seems like every retired wrestler has a dozen Sheik stories. Kevin Nash has told some hilarious stories about him on his podcast.
إِنَّا ِلِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُون,

Beautiful video Scott. Absolutely professional as always. I loved this guy what a wrestler. You never cease to amaze me. Thank you Scot.
Sorry for being an idiot. I have been drunk for a few months. Craig has given me so much shit to behave myself. I am now and sorry for giving everyone abuse. My brother helped Craig and it has stopped now. So I am so sorry for being a complete dick head.
Well done video, Scott! May Marissa and Hussein rest in peace.
When his daughter died it destroyed him that's when he went off deep end wit the drugs. Love your channel thank you
They may not be buried side-by-side, but they’re together in heaven. She was a beautiful girl. Scary what relationships can bring. Rest in peace💔🙏👣🙌❤️
Goin on Scotty……!!
As a big fan of Stern’s “golden era,” and a WWF fan as a kid, thank you for posting! I wonder why Stern never asked the Sheik about his daughter??
Probably didn’t want to talk about something like that I’m guessing
thanks for vid SHEIK & my bro JOHNNY GRUNGE
were friend…..I am 90miles south of there, will bring my friends son with me to visit and bring JOHNNYS WCW TAG BELT with me for respect photo, I make things happen, military parrot, bracelets, keychains, all kinds of stuff I always wanted to make a half USA and Iranian bracelet and what happens when you procrastinate then it’s too late and present it to the SHEIK. Maybe I can do that and present it to his wife and make his family some

I am from this area! His daughter went to my school and was murdered by her boyfriend.
RIP Sheiky baby.
PTC is our home. Thank you for visiting it.
Who else heard The Sheik yell through the grave “FU*k Hulk Hogan”?
Beautiful home
He was such a great wrestling villian. I don't know if anyone remembers " The Mongolian Stomper" aka Archie Gouldie but I worked with him here in Tennessee in his later years. He use to tell me all kinds of wrestling stories. What a life those guys led. May he rest in peace.
Thanks for this video. The Sheik is and always will be a true champion and entertainer in wrestling. I never knew about his daughter. So sad . I'll bet had this not happened he may have lived to 101. ☮️ & 💚 To my friend.
RIP To Hossein Kosrow Ali Vaziri AKA, Col. Mustafa, AKA The Great Hossein, AKA Muhammad Farouk, AKA The Iron Sheik & Marissa Vaziri🙏🕊️

I met him. At a Hess gas station. In Smyrna Georgia when I was a young. He was pleasant. RIP Iron Sheik
RIP to the both of them. Hope all is well Scott.
Thank you
Alright you made it 👍🏽 I asked you last year to make a video about the Iron Sheik Awesome good looking out Homie take care Man the RUclips video’s on Him being interviewed are Hilarious all around he’s Awesome 🤟🏽✌🏽
I saw that A&E TV Special about him and I do know he competed in the 1952 Olympics for his home country of Iran 🇮🇷 then, I also know that he was a bodyguard for shah of Iran in the 60’s. He was already in this country when Iran 🇮🇷 in 1979 had their revolution and the shah had to flee the country and where hostages at the American embassy were taken and held there for 444 days, while some were able to find shelter at the Canadian embassy until they were able to get out of there, as seen in the 2014 movie “Argo”.
Shiki baby. Great video.
Hi Scott other Great video to watch keep up good work ❤

Yeah I'll wait love that crazy ass iron sheet that you were here talking about The Ultimate Warrior that time that s*** was funny him and New Jack he hated the ultimate warrior with a passion
Great video as usual 👍 We need Eric The Midget next
Already on my channel 😊
If you ever disrespected, Iron Sheik Week he would break your back and make you humble
Hello Greetings to you Scott
Lol, The Iron Sheik could get heat like no other. He was one of the best. And a straight up, legit, pro wrestler. Only a few who can lay claim to that.
One of the best Iron Sheik stories that I have ever heard was told by Marty Jennetty. That guy had me in stitches it was so funny.
Anyway..RIP man who humbled other men 😂
Thank you so much for doing this scott, as you already know i been saying for ages how much i love your wrestlers and rappers tributes, you did us proud on this one, what a man Iron Sheik was, would love to see you do something on Razor Ramond even though not sure if he was creamated, i always use to follow Iron Sheiks moves as a kid, im almost 46 coming soon and still think about his moves, awesome video. By the way Wonder what kind of animal that was by the trees, i agree what you said, his age for a wrestler was good as many wrestlers dont live to make it in their 70s.
Rip
Bodyguard to the Shah, Champion wrestler in Iran, Forced to flee for his life, US Olympic assistant- wrestling coach, wrestling professionally all around the world.
Everything he did, everything he accomplished, everywhere he went. He ended up in a jabroni infested, rundown graveyard in backwoods Georgia !
Do you have any film locations planned Scott?
Yes I do
@@SCOTTONTAPE amazing 👏
Rest in peace, Iron Sheikh. Iran number one
