The late Gorilla Monsoon often referred to King Kong Bundy as a "walking condominium" - an apt description for a giant who tipped the scales at an earth-shaking 458 pounds.
Stomping into WWE rings in 1984, the Atlantic City monster made an impact by destroying opponents with his Avalanche Splash and then demanding a five-count from the referee. The awesomeness of Bundy's power was fully displayed at 1985's inaugural WrestleMania, where the titan disposed of his opponent, Special Delivery Jones, in nine short seconds.
Perhaps the biggest match of Bundy's career occurred the following year at WrestleMania 2 when he battled Hulk Hogan in a Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship. Hogan would win the contest, but Bundy's mammoth girth and devastating splashes came close to putting The Hulkster away for good.
Bundy would take a hiatus from WWE in the late '80s, before returning in 1994 as a member of The Million Dollar Man's Million Dollar Corporation. Setting his sights on The Undertaker, Bundy stepped into the ring with The Deadman at WrestleMania XI. While the massive grappler proved to be a worthy adversary for Taker, he lost the match and became another victim of The Phenom's legendary WrestleMania streak.
King Kong Bundy exited WWE shortly after this loss, but the big man will always be remembered as one of the most unique and devastating individuals to ever set foot in the ring.
On March 4, 2019, Pallies died from complications of diabetes at his home in Glassboro, New Jersey, at the age of 63. King Kong Bundy is buried at Hillside Memorial Park in Hurffville, New Jersey.
Gone but never forgotten! Love you Bundy!
I have a great story about King Kong Bundy. My Dad traveled a lot when I was growing up and we used to take him to and from the airport quite a bit. Well one such trip we drop him off and we see Hulk Hogan standing there getting into a yellow stretch limo. Since I was 9 or 10 and my brother was 5 or 6 he was our hero. Well we screamed at him for a good two minutes and we were heartbroken he didn’t hear us. Well, heading back home we pass a yellow cab and I look over. It’s King Kong Bundy, terrified I look at him and decide I would smile and wave even though it was big, scary and mean King Kong Bundy. He looked at me, gives back one of the friendliest smiles I have ever received and enthusiastically waved back. I was STUNNED and frantically started telling my mom “Mom!!! King Kong Bundy just waved to me!!!” My brother flies over to my side and starts waving too, to which KKB starts smiling even larger and waves even more enthusiastically. It was really cool but left us both puzzled how such a mean guy could smile at us. Anyways, our first clue these guys play characters. RIP King Kong.
Great memory you both have.
I met Chris in Wildwood when he was wrestling there, we went out to pizza hut and we all ate dinner with him, he elbowed me and said "You look like you can eat! Lets Eat!" He picked up a pitcher of Diet Coke like it was a teacup.. I wish I could find the picture of him , me and my friend Harry .. Harry was like 5'5 I am 6' and Chris was 6'4 and the size difference was funny..
That is so awesome!
R.I.P King Kong Bundy
My goodness! I haven’t heard the name King Kong Bundy in years. Love and miss these old wrestlers. Brings back so many childhood memories. Thanks for another great video. ❤️
Chris scared the shit out of me as a kid. As a heel he just had that scary look to him. I’ve been wondering if someone would find his grave. I’m glad you did. Thank you! His shoot interviews were good, he was a good a decent man.
"Chris" was the guy who went home to his wife and son every night. King Kong Bundy was the guy who "scared the shit out of [you]"
Right in the feels with one of the best to ever do it. Hated him as a kid, but that only meant he did his job well. Much respect for you Scott.
RIP King Kong Buddy
Thanks for sharing Scott
I am from Northern NJ. I met Chris once at a convention and he was a super sweet guy. The business did him dirty. He was fired from WWF for making an IBM commercial. Even though he scared me as a kid, it turns out he was a better person than Hulk Hogan in real life. So sad to see the figures on his grave. Good video.
Him & Butter Bean Are All Time Champs. Sunny and no rain for days up here near TO
I met Bundy in a hotel lobby as a kid. Even though he was a “bad guy” he was very polite. He gave me and my brothers autographs and talked with us for a while. As a kid he was a gigantic man. I’m still a Bundy-holic to this day.
@@JoshuaFitzgerald-e3h do u still have the autographs?
From Toronto Canada 🇨🇦 thanks Scott for the Video! I think that was an original king Kong Bundy doll!
I live in this area (Washington Township, Gloucester county) since 1978 and I knew quite a few people who went to high school with him. Everybody had good recollections with him, and he was well liked. I've been watching wresting since I was 12, and I never lost my interest to this day.. Unfortunately I never got to see him in person., but several people I know had nothing but compliments. I hated to see him pass at a relatively young age, but at least plenty of people remember him. Thanks for the memories, Chris Pallies.
I used to be an independent wrestler and King Kong Bundy was on the card and had a chance to hang oyt with him and have my picture taken with him nicest guy you could ever like
So cool!
I witnessed him wrestle in West Palm Beach, as a youth...He was a physically massive human...
I'm from west Palm Beach went to the arena on Palm Beach lakes Blvd went there for years met Sargent slaughter hack Saw Jim dugen wow what great memories all the old guys born and raised here
Awesome ! The 'Leaky Tee-Pee'...Village Green Movie Theatre and Palm Beach Mall were near there...
Thank you for doing this, l love King Kong Bundy, my generation right there. RIP 🙏 KING KONG BUNDY 🙏
One of my All Time fave Wrestlers as a Kid growing up in the 80s ! I met Bundy in the summer of 2000 and got a pic with him And The Honky Tonk Man, Bundy was Super Cool!!! He Grabbed Me by the throat and Teased me about my Tongue Piercing 😂 as the Pic was Being taken❤
Great Job Scott ❤ RIP Chris 🙏 Never Forgotten
RIP legend
One of my favorite villians as a kid, and I was deathly afraid of him, but I loved him. He and Big John Studd were awesome together. I wish they had a longer run together, Bundy gave Hulk some tough a-- battles. I still have that same doll that's on the right of his tombstone.
King Kong Bundy was awesome! Chris Pallis was really liked among his peers too. Except for maybe Andre the giant. Seen him wrestle live , and was really close to the runway. He was MASSIVE! God bless you Chris. You brought me alot of excitement.
Rest in Peace King Kong Bundy😢
Thank you Scott for sharing this video. Rest In Peace King Kong Bundy
Thank you for the great tributes to the great stars of WWF 80's rasslin'. I find myself watching the old matches on RUclips. Andre, Hulk, Bobby the Brain, all the greats.
I attended his wrestling school. Can't say enough about what an amazing guy he was. You needed a thick skin around him. But he was a hugely amazing guy who looked out for you if he knew you. RIP Chris.
Hi Scott, thanks for the video. I have read that Andre didn’t like Bundy in real life because he didn’t want big guys that stepped over the top rope. He was scary.
I recognize his face but don't think I ever watched his competitions because by then I wasn't watching much wrestling anymore. Even so, I feel bad for anyone who suffers injuries by not being made aware of the damages this sport can do. It's true that even something you didn't like as a kid, brings the most beautiful memories as an adult. Your dad sounds exactly like mine. Weren't we the lucky ones! Loved the video, Scott. RIP King Kong ❤💐
Thank you for watching and always supporting the channel my dear Flo
@@SCOTTONTAPE As long as I am able 🙄👆 I promise you that you need not expect anything less than my support. I just simply love you and your channel. Take care my friend 🤗
Hogan v Bundy in the steel cage match one of my favorite matches ever. Even my local newspaper covered it.
I remembered his funny appearances a relative in _"Married With Children"_ back in the day.
Better times. RIP big guy.
Oh yea Bundy and Bam Bam Bigelow they could move for big men Thanks for finding him 👍🏻🙏🏻
I love how you gone from one of my faves Kurt n Nirvana to another fave wrestling…
Wrestlers are so Rad..such Art, own nicknames and moves...Love it. Piper Hogan Andre and Many Many More
RIP KING KONG BUNDY..I wonder if King Hippo from Punch Out is loosely based on him?
Loved this Scott! Thank you.
You said it perfectly. It takes us back to a simpler time and the innocence of accepting it at face value, good guys vs. Bad. There was a security found in it.
Another well done grave video!
Thank you Scott for taking me down memory lane I know everything you told about wrestling my uncle & me watched it together ....thank for this video appreciate you ...keep up the good work
Scott, you are the best man. God bless you bro
I remember back In’83’ when my father took me to see wrestling’s super stars . I saw Andre the giant tony atlas V King Kong Bundy and Big John Stud !!! O Man these guys were huge especially to 7 year old. So glad I got to see the greats of WWF at that time.
I was a big fan of his when I was lil. I got to meet him as an adult, in the late 90's, he was signing autographs at a bar I worked at. Easily one of the nicest, friendliest people I ever met. Pretty funny too. We took a picture of him pretending to choke me and he signed it.
Bundy was an awesome monster heel in the 80's.
His 5 count gimmick was cool.
Wow 😮 he friggen scared me as a kid too bro. I seen him many times over the years at both the old Boston Garden and new TD Garden
My all-time favorite wrestler King Kong Bundy! I'm still sad! Beyond overdue for the WWE Hall of Fame!
Great Video. Bundy was a Gentleman. His Shoot Interviews were the best
I'm kinda sad that there'll be less videos coming next year but i appreciate all the efforts you've gone to over the years. They're my "nightcaps" regularly. Thank you man, love from Ireland.♥️🇮🇪
@@SCOTTONTAPE well maybe that was just my assumption on less travel meaning less videos & yeah I get that, always wondered how you guys could travel so much & put out so many vids. It must cos a pretty penny. Anyways, love the channel & your attitude. Very respectful! 👍
WATCHING PEOPLES GRAVES IS YOUR NIGHT CAP??
I liked Bundy and Bigelow. Bundy told a story where he was sitting on a table at an arena. Savage and his father walked by and made a stupid comment. Bundy said in the interview that he outlasted both Savage and his father. Then Bundy died. Very sad. Thank you for your program.
Bam Bam or Scotty as we knew him was. Family friend. Such a nice man
What's wild about your comment is that I grew up where they're both from or lived-- as a baby until I was 10, we lived in Norwood, PA but my aunt lived in Glassboro, NJ so we were there practically every other weekend spending many days, holidays, winters and summers there. Bundy and Bigelow were both from Jersey but Bigelow lived in Florida.
We moved to Spring Hill, Florida in the summer of 94' when I was 10. Spring Hill is quite literally the next town over from Hudson which is where Bam Bam Bigelow lived when he died of a drug overdose.
Was just wild to me that you mentioned those two and I have ties to them location wise. Thought that was kinda cool.
Randy Savage’s father was a wrestler, Angelo Paffo. I remember his dad from the AWA here in Chicago. An old tough guy who didn’t take any guff from anyone.
@@chosen_remnant
.
Angelo Poffo remarked that Bundy was fat and probably wouldn't live too long.
I have met King Kong Bundy years ago at Laughlin Nevada. He really nice person. I got privilege to clean his VIP rooms where I work at as housekeeping at Tropicana casino hotel Laughlin Nevada.
Is that the Tropicana in Vegas?
Wrestlemania 2 main event, King Kong buddy vs the hulkster in the steel cage ! The married
With children episodes, even his 95
Return in the million dollar corporation,Great
Memories, was following bundy on RUclips up till his death, he did a lot of shoot interviews. Rest easy mr Bundy, memory eternal, thank you for the entertainment you were great.
I know a lot of people do these kind of videos but you do really great work in talking about the individual that you are covering. Really do enjoy watching them.
Thank you Scott for doing these videos and paying respect to the graves of these wrestlers who I have grown up watching myself as a kid. RIP Chris aka King Kong Bundy😢❤. I loved watching him on TV and man was he scary looking and soo big n bald. Awesome stuff Brother ❤
That photo of Bobby Hennan man RIP BOBBY !
I Met king Kong Bundy in person @ a base ball card collector show in Howell new jersey @ a flea market and he was signing free autographs and posing for pictures . back in the mid 1990s he was very friendly and he told great stories about his wrestling career . he passed away to young . R.I.P. King Kong Bundy he was a great wrestling legend for his time while wrestling .
This guy was one of my favorite wrestlers ,a GIANT OF THE GAME .😢😢😢❤❤❤
Once again, so happy you pay deserving respect to wrestlers who have passed! Bundy was always a great heel, and truly scary for kids at the time. Thank you the continued dignity and respect you show doing these videos. I also loved it when he made a cameo appearance on "Married with Children." Afterall, he was a Bundy!!!!
A legend gone too soon Awesome video Scott i remember him facing Hogan & him being on Married with Children he did an incredible job Rest Easy King Kong Bundy
Oh man I remember this guy RIP.
I just visited Bundy yesterday what a nice grave and Rip to a wreslting legend
Much loves to you bundy rip 🙏
As a wrestling family myself. I want to thank you Scott for the respect you show wrestlers. Wrestlers often get forgotten about, but not by you. I appreciate it sir. Keep the great content coming brother.
Great job man! I really appreciate your effort to remember these star from “80”. I had watch in Italy, with Dan Peterson as an official narrator. Now I’m 46 ….and still looks like yesterday!!!
I sure miss the good old days! Those days of wrestling really were the best to me,the 80’s. Me and all my friends from the neighborhood would get together at one of our houses, which ever one the parents would allow us to gather at, and watch. Then go outside and reenact 🤣. So much fun back then and young enough with no worries. I’ve lost a few of my friends from those days now and it’s just good to go back sometimes and your videos help do that, also paying tribute to those who made those memories possible. Thanks Scott! God bless and safe travels
Good job Scott may King Bundy rest In peace
thanks scott. i was blessed to be on undercard of a few indy shows with the KING. Always a gentleman.
I miss King Kong bundy I’m glad he’s not forgotten.
Thanks for sharing this Scott. Bundy and Bam Bam were two of the greatest big men ever in wrestling. Bam Bam was a hero saving the children from the burning house. I got lots of binge watching to catch up on. Thanks again see you next time.
Thanks for posting these. It's not my usual topic of interest but my husband is like you, Scott and grew up watching wrestling. Now i know who he talks about as he is rewatching lots of it recently.
I really enjoy when you cover the deaths of WWF wrestlers, Scott! 1985 is the year that I first started watching television (entertainment) wrestling. And with fondness, I remember the Saturday Night Main Event!! I had to beg my parents to let me stay up late to watch it!! 😂 Those were the days! ✌🏾
He's a legend. Interesting he had such a love for cats. It seems so contrary to his wrestling persona. He must have been a gentle giant. I'm sure his cats miss him.
They pee on his grave.
@@RadioRich100 Please elaborate. I'm curious.
Thanks, Scott. You bring us THE BEST videos, every time. Love WWF/WWE. '80's. YOU ROCK!👍💓🤗🙏✌️
King Kong Bundy was a great heal and was a part of my childhood. He was the bad guy that put Hulk Hogan in wrappings around the waist. Thank you for the memories man of the five count!
Yet another 1 I didn't know was dead. Thx for the video Scott.
King Kong Bundy was the first wrestler I ever saw as a kid, turned me into a fan for life.
Bundy was the family name for Al,s family . Rhodes Dusty Rhodes was for the neighbors.
This is epic Scott . I remember him
this is going to be a great video , you always put out awesome content for all of us viewers ❤
Great work again Scott!!!!!!
I loved the Saturday Nights Main Events when I was a kid. The good ole days of the WWF/ WWE. Great video enjoy all your wrestling stuff.
What a wonderful tribute even though I never watched him on wrestling much didn't watch it much as a kid but that's ok, thou he's gone but not forgotten thanks for sharing this Scott.
Nice! Very cool I love that your doing a lot of the old school wrestlers graves much love and respect 🤘🏻✌🏻
He was in "Moving" with Richard Pryor. Funny thing is, many people think it was Bundy who played Grossberger in another Pryor movie, "Stir Crazy". He was also from New Jersey and played Dynamo in "The Running Man". He had an interesting life. Maybe do a video on him.
I always like the 80 wrestling better than today wrestling.
"Action figures, NOT dolls"! Lol 👍✌️
I always loved the big wrestlers. Kimg, Andre, Big Show. Fills me with dread when I hear complications from Diabetes. My 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 over 4 years ago.
I too loved WWF in the 80s. I watched it faithfully every weekend on cable TV. I also had many of the WWF action figures and the ring. In 2001, I was a house musician and one of the regulars had a fire and her and her little son lost everything. I felt so bad for the kid now having no toys, I gave him all of my wrestling stuff. I only recently found out the value of these action figures. I am shocked! $$$$ However, I like to think that helping out that kid and hopefully him having the same kind of fun I had playing with these action figures, is priceless. Thanks and praise from Peterborough Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 ♥️
Scott another great video you did on King Kong Bundy and yes was a scary wrestler especially if you are a child, but an awesome. thank you Scott for sharing these videos with us.
Bruno was the Dude that made me a WWF fan!
Thanks for posting your videos, enjoy them very much. Wont be able to visit the sites ... but this is next best thing..
Hey Scott. Hope you have been well. Great story, sad too. KKB was my hero as a kid. Fond memories. Thanks again stay safe in this crazy azz world we live in. Safe travels.
J..
I’m a 90s kid so I mainly watched during the attitude era which are the wrestlers that mean the most to me but I still love to hear and learn about the 80s wrestlers as well. Anytime you do a wrestler video, I’m on it lol
I wrestled Chris back in the early 90s he was a great guy just a classy individual
Hi Scott,I am British 🇬🇧so I have never heard of him but your thing about this guy is really very nice.x ❤😊
Good Evening Scott 🙋🏽.
Wow Scott, King Kong Bundy! What a great video man. Bundy was a champ.
He would have been the perfect King Pin. I got into a shouting match with him after an event once. Him, Super Destroyer and Boris Zukov were all riding together and i said something to him and he yelled back. Lol. I wish I had had the opportunity to talk to him before he passed. I hope to meet him again.
I loved King Kong Bundy. However, the one who scared me when I was growing up was Papa Shango. Another amazing video Scott!!!
I remember when I started watching WWF back in the beginning of 93 , I was never really big on King Kong Bundy character, but yea he was intimidating lol , ty for sharing this , I'm a fan of ur content awesome stuff 🙏🏼

Oh yes!! King Kong Bundy was scarey! Do you remember *The Claw* ?! That guy was creepy to me haha!
Love the WWW wrestling dudes....it was huge as a kiddo!
PS: I had to pop back to say yes good ol' Andre the Giant. Was sad about his health issues. I have to google that claw dude. Thanks for you great content Scott!!
I November KING KONG BUNDY wrestle hulk Hogan inside steel cage match at wrestle mania 2 R.I.P. KING KONG BUNDY
Thanks Scott, articulated perfectly as always ❤️ I don’t know much about wrestling and only knew Hulk Hogan as a kid, but the way you revisit your memories and explain the background stories of these amazing people makes me feel like I was there. Love watching your videos, thanks so much for sharing with us.
You are so sweet thank you so much
Bundy's head went through the middle of my ring with the LJN figures. Wrestlemania II is so underrated and forgotten unfortunately
King Kong Bundy was a favourite of my daughter and I in the 1980s.
Her favourites were King Kong Bundy, Andre, Hot Roddy Piper and Demolition (Axe and Smash).
I was a huge King Kong Bundy fan Scott especially when he was on married with children
I have three younger brothers, and my first child was a boy. So you know, like it or not, I watched wrestling. By the time my son was 3 in 1988, we never missed Saturday night wrestling. He wouldn't sleep otherwise, lol! I have to say, my son knew them all! So, I as a good parent, bought him all the Wrestling Action Figures and the ring and the tons of other junk! ❤❤❤. Thank God my next was a GIRL! 😂😂😂😂
THANKS SCOTT! IT WAS A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE! STAY SAFE OUT THERE! 😊😊😊😊
