In Dec of 74, I won my game and then the showcase on The Price is Right. (It aired in Jan of 75) I will always be appreciative that after 5 tries, I made it on the show. I sold almost everything I won and put a down payment on my first house. I was quite poor at the time. This gave me the big step my family needed to propel us forward. We sold that house as we grew as a family. I got my degree and became a healthcare worker. Bob was a complete professional and talked to me during commercials. It was a very defining point in my life.

I'd like to add that zoos today aren't the metal bars and chained animal displays that they used to be. Efforts have been made and continue to be made to make their habitats more and more like their natural environment in the wild, minus the poachers and having to hunt down ( or gather ) their food. I live near Philadelphia and love the Nation's first zoo's catwalks ❤ Love it in the summer when they give the herbivores their food encased in ice cubes! What was Betty thinking. An elephant in a zoo doesn’t raise awareness. Most people, except animal activists, on day to day basis don’t think about that. That animal should be in a sanctuary. Zoos should be stopped completely. I don’t blame Bob. Don’t use welfare of a caged animal to raise awareness, other wise no better then the zoo keeper s.

Thank you, Scott, for this overview of Bob Barker's career!
The only thing missing here is the story behind his signature super-thin microphone...
My most memorable Bob Barker moment
I remember a particular show, once he kept his silver-hair look; he came out on the main stage wearing a pure white suit, the jacket, shirt and pants were all the same pure white. The only color items he wore was a blue silk tie and matching pocket hankie.
He was so stunningly dressed that the crowd went wild! Bob tried in vain to calm it down; it took so long he didn't have time for his usual show-opening banter and had to start the first bid of the show to quiet things down.
That's how I like to think he's dressed, in Heaven, wowing even the angels!

The show was successful, Bob Barker was a great host, and made it fun to watch and participate! His love of animals and concerns for their rights was ! admirable and endeared him to many. He was cordial, inviting, funny and seemed to enjoy well , the humor
However, being called a “gentleman”, is pushing the envelope! Was he being a “gentleman”, as I’m sure he was polite, as he grinned showing his white-brite, shiny teeth, like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, forcing himself upon his models, as he basically robbed them of their dignity, under threat of being released from their employment?!
No concern here, for the models, nor the unfair and incredulous demands of his egotistical gaslighting narcissism, that he presented to these lovely ladies, who did their jobs well, served the show and audience with grace, and never thought this could happen to them!
Was this being a “ gentleman?
It’s so disappointing, when an, otherwise enjoyable person, falls from his pedestal, by being a human and giving in to his deplorable other side.
Women are equally to be respected and even God has spoken this into His Word! Respecting one another!

For the reason that you THINK he'd prefer somewhere else. After being perfectly settled where he is. He would have to go through a whole transition process mentally. His body would have to adapt to a different environment.

Nearly thirty years ago, I contracted broadcast engineering services through two editing and production services agencies (on a part-time and somewhat sporadic basis). Starting in the mid-1980's, and immediately prior to her "Golden Girls stint", Betty White, financed, produced, and scripted 'informational shorts, bordering on public service announcements' which, with assistance from friends and 'like-minded individuals', were distributed to second and third tier TV broadcast markets and movie theaters through a 501-C-III non-profit animal rights 'informational charity' which she helped to form after Alan Ludden's passing.
I was a second-unit editor on one of those projects. She paid well, was actually "damned pleasant to work with", so-much-so, that at times it was loads of fun being at work!
Her "refined, sarcastic passive agressivity" was almost beyond comprehension!
    Definitely one damn cool person!

I was hoping that Bob Barker didn't have a problem with Betty White's personality or anything like that. She always seemed like such a lovely lady. I don't know whose side I would be on in the issue of the elephant.

An animal that has lived its whole life in a zoo should probably be kept in a zoo. Chances of it doing well in the wild is slim. So say the experts.

What's weird is that they (Bob and Betty)were both cordial to each other in the 1970's and 1980's and later years up til that falling out. They even sat next to each other on Match Game for a week in 1979.

It was a shock to me, in both ways, the first shocker that Bob Barker wasn't prepared for this "death" thing, when "death" eventually got to him, first. Other than all the health problems/controversy he has been through, he has lived the longest life, ever, thanks to a vegetarian diet and exercise. He also almost outlived everyone and everybody who came to the earth, and passed on. The second shocker that nobody knew Bob Barker had Alzheimer's Disease and bad cholesterol. He was healthy up until the Saturday, he passed, who could have been 100. What a legend! May he #RIP! (1923 - 2023)!

    • @davidwright4271
      @davidwright4271 Год назад

Makes sense that he had Alzheimer's Disease as it is linked to cholesterol and plaques forming in the arteries of the brain. Probably had FH (familial hypercholesterolemia), genetics. Being vegetarian kept him alive longer.

    *I agree with Betty.*
Like Zoos Children go to places like SeaWorld and leave there wanting to protect and save the whales, dolphins and other sea life in the wild. Kids don't fall in love with and get attached to a picture in a book. It's the lifelong bonds children create while at the Zoos and Wild Life parks that get them to want to save these animals in the wild. They do much more for animal conservation that a Reserve that no one can visit.

Bob Barker endured with his fun and seemingly effortless interactions with the contestants as well as knowing where to stand, how to handle the game props and boards, and how to react during the game play in the various and many Price Is Right pricing games. Bob Barker was trained in karate under Chuck Norris, who was his next door neighbor. to prepare for the famous Adam Sandler fight scene in Happy Gilmore.

He left to do Price Is Right, which was a good move for him, but this five-year-old was enraged that TOC was over. So I said I curse The Price Is Right! May that show lose ratings and go off the air (I felt wronged! lol)k and it's still going. lol omg kids.

I never knew about PAWS till I had a litter of kittens born underneath our deck. There was a kitten-boom after Hurricane Ida. I called around and no one would help. SPCA woman said they didn't do that for feral cats. I finally ran into a woman and she told me about her feral cats being spayed. She then told me about PAWS and gave me the number. We had four spayed/neutered and two still hang around occasionally getting mice in the yard. I also made a donation to the sweet lady who helped me. She was very dedicated.
