So much of this album was written in a time when mental health wasn't taken seriously, it revolutionary in the way they show anxiety and depression, anger, all these emotions, at a time when there was a stigma around mental health, Metallica always been on the front with that, since fade to black on ride, I love this band and it's members, truly the greatest band of all time

people who hate the dissonance of this albums sound have never had mental health issues and it shows. this albums sound PERFECTLY personify the uncomfortable feeling of having uncontrollable emotional responses. is sad so many snobs snub this album just because "lol it sound bad and noisy"

Dear Metallica, if you will ever see this. St. Anger is a GREAT album. There ARE people like me who ARE sure as hell about that! And the sound of drums has NOTHING TO DO with "terrible" or anything like that. And I mean it. I love this record. As much as Load|Reload, as much as classics.

Honestly, if they kept the solos, it would have been a solid album with a little for everyone.
A bit of that nu metal with classic solos would have been a pretty badass hybrid.

exactly. for me the best albums of metallicas is St. anger. I love all the tracks, the record, lyrics, music videos and specially the drum.
I’m alive and well because of this song. Through a hard losing battle of depression over 10 years, this album which I would listen to every night, rid all of my negative emotions and left me with a blank canvas. I have since been able to rebuild myself into a much stronger individual than I could have ever imagined. Thank you James, Kirk, Robert and lars. You saved a life. I am forever in debt to you all.

@@adriantrusca1245 that's the album I grew up with. 🤷♂️. Nostalgia for me. I watched the Some kind of Monster DVD with a friend of mine. He died in a car wreck a few months later. We were in 7th grade.

When I started listening to this album the snare fucked it for me too but I got into the songs and I realized the snare fits perfectly

Alot of people overlook the reality that the band purposely had zero guitar solos on it.
I hated it at first. Then, picked up the cd, w/a bonus cd of them ripping through all the songs for $5. I sure love it now...!
I'm born in 1992 and i had to a lot of visits to hospitals. In my parent's car, there was always a Black Album Cassette (which is my favorite album). When I heard St Anger I was learning to play drums and i LOVED the sound! The metallic snare snound is what makes it my 2nd favorite album ever... Love this band so much

St. Anger in my opinion is one of the rawest albums Metallica made...and I love the sound of the Bass with its growley deep tone
St. Anger came at a time when I had just dropped out of college back in 2003 and was totally lost about what I'd do in life and would often have suicidal thoughts... the only solace I found was thru this track which I could totally relate to at the time.. fast forward 20 years.. I'll be 40 in October, have a loving wife, 2 precious daughters, and a stable freelancing agency set up with the help of my best buds who I owe my life to.. Thank you Metallica and especially this track that kept me going thru some of my life's darkest phases...

A good song is one that you can relate to and that's why I love this album. I think it has arguably some of the best lyrics Metallica has ever had.
I absolutely love this song and video. I have social anxiety, and this video/song explains it perfectly. Sometimes i feel music is the only thing that understands.

Damn this album is already 18 years old i remember i bought it when it came out heard it a few times then it just stayed collecting dust. This was like one of the songs i thought was ok tho.

One of the reasons I love this album is because it helped me through some shit and also the documentary allowed me to see more into their process and get to know them on a more personal level.

This is now the first time I heard this song (besides a cover i just listened to) and I think this is really awesome. I agree that St. Anger is very underrated and really so were load and REload. Hopefully people will see the fact that Metallica wanted to move on from the 80's. If they were playing the same stuff they wouldn't be the triple A band they are today and people wouldn't really like them either

Great song from a great album. I thought it was ok when I heard it. Then I watched the DVD that came with it and then I went to see them at the Summer Sanitarium Tour after it came out and heard a couple of these songs live. I loved it. They are in my opinion the G.O.A.T.
