    To be honest, I am glad they released St. Anger. After Cliff's death the entire band started to slowly descend into existential crisis. That along with James running away from his personal issues and the mistreatment of Jason were gradually creating tensions within Metallica for years. It was only a question of time when they were going to be forced to face themselves and learn to deal with their problems like adults. The entire music industry landscape was rapidly changing in early 2000's, and that's when their crisis finally peaked. You can clearly hear it on the record. They needed to get that album out of their system in order to move on, and that's why I respect it. It's just pure fucking emotion.

Not system of a down, again, doesn't line up right. Have you got an idea of who else would release it? Especially concerning all the "The band is falling apart" concept of the album.

      Ive thought that as well. If they pulled that snare back just a hair, it would make such an incredible difference. St Anger is a GReat album but has the sound of a new band and first album, under produced. I think people were not willing to except the rawness of production in this album but if it were from a different band would not receive so much flak. INstead, because it is Metallica, everyone expects top shelf over production. Im glad they released it the way it is. While "Some Kind of Monster" documentary was released as well. The two things tell the story. Without one of those pieces, the listener is not hearing things in their entirety>

      I've been a fan of Metallica since I ever remember. I also agree that this album isn't their best by far, but is it wrong that I still enjoy it for what it is? I actually remember this song and that it kicked ass and I came here specifically to listen to it. I will take a bet that if this album was released by some other random band it would have become much more popular. People just bash it because they are too biased with older Metallica work. Take a minute and think about it though, this is what makes Metallica what they are: they experiment with different styles. If they were to stay the same there would be no Kill 'em all and no metal as we know it today.

    • @jeffstone2136
      @jeffstone2136 10 лет назад +1

      Right. Let me try to decode this. We're supposed to keep in mind exactly where the band members would be, and what they'd be doing, if they hadn't made the album...that they DID make. And these entirely speculative acts and locales somehow have a bearing on the matter of whether people should think the produced product sucks. Put another way, you are demanding that we base the validity of our opinions on the music that WAS made upon unrelated and wholly hypothetical events and activities that not only did not take place but now *can never* take place. That makes no logical sense whatsoever.

Back in that days I was just listening music and thinking: cool songs, that guys made good work. But now I grew up and I don't just listen to song, now i started realizing meaning of these songs and in my opinion St. Anger album has songs which have strongest meanings. I realized this, and now I am listening this album with big pleasure, and I understand (my opinion) that Metallica crew worked very hard and if u can't stand St. Anger just try to understand what song wants to say to listener and main meaning of the song and u immediately will like St. Anger and once u will say like me: St. Anger is one of the best Metallica albums how i didn't realize that.

    I personally love Anger, especially the Live in Studio DVD that came with the album. Good thing it’s all on RUclips bc the songs sound so much better than the finished product imo This song is a perfect example of that with Hetfield’s awesomely deep vocals....and no trash can snare

    It is a miracle that with how chaotic the mixing and production of that album was, James' voice and interpretation is probably the best of his career.
