I can remember when I was 12 years old and I just listened this song for the very first time in this show (The S & M), It was the most breathtaking song I had ever listened to. I don't always listen to metal, but when I do it I listen to METALLICA, MEGADETH, IRON MAIDEN, OZZY OSBOURNE,AND MANY OTHERS GREAT BANDS!
I can't explain this song, it hits a weird spot in me that no other songs can. Closest is Fade to Black, The Day that Never comes and Nothing Else Matters but still not the same

Back in 1999 ( I was 15 years old) when i heard to this song for the first time I was in a personal fight with myself, the lyrics inspire me to make some changes in my life for good, almost 22 years later my life is challenge me back again due to the economic complications provoked by COVID-19, and surprisingly this song appears in a local music TV show just when I needed the most.

I was in love with this for the first time right around 7th grade too
It took me 20 years to get my dad into Metallica. He’s a big 80s Euro- electronic rock guy. While I do enjoy bands like Depeche Mode and the like Metallica is always number one for me. This song finally pushed him into being a fan and I’m glad we get to share this.

metallica was and is the last metal band to become a household name. Almost everyone knows Metallica. Even when they don't "know" Metallica, they've probably heard Enter Sandman at some point in their lives. Can't say that about any other metal within the past 30+ years.
james re did some of the vocals in studio afterwards because this was the single for the album and he wanted it to be perfect

@@SuperJohnny617 Apparently everything except the orchestra was rerecorded in the studio...... Including James' vocals.... Which apparently were also touched up in the studio.

Props to the symphony's musicians. They have to not only play orchestrated Metal music, but they have to drown out the crowd's reactions to the songs. S and M clearly shows the incredible musicianship of Metallica.
The crowd only clapped when songs were over or started. But I heard they were well behaved and only a select few got to see this. RIP Michael Kamen. You were a genius.

This track just brought tears to my eyes, that beautiful mold between metal and classical is just overwhelming. It's done done so fucking well. I'm not the biggest Metallica fan but I recognise they are absolute legends and own all of their albums and can recognise their songs instantly. But this track knocked it out the park where musicial prowess came together with entirely different genres.

A masterpiece!!!!... for those who criticize Metallica for switching from heavy metal to mild or softer metal, don’t forget that age is a factor as the group gets wiser and less aggressive on instruments.
I like the sounds of Symphonic Metal and this is one song that fits right into that genre. I remember getting the CD off Napster 14 days before release. That was when Metallica sued them.

James' voice just so melodic then so raspy and then his flip into falsetto at the end is so pretty. Every note of the guitar solo has been imprinted in my brain since I first heard it. The orchestral intro, the interlude build up to the final refrain... Perfection, boys!
This song is beyond epic. Anytime of the day you can blast this.
They played it live at Twickenham two days ago. Despite the stadium's bad acoustics, the solo still rocked like hell.

Ну, я сейчас посмотрел часть концерата 2х часового, напоминает Арию в 2000х (или Айрон-мейден, что одно и тоже), прости уважаемый, но среди их музыки(основного состава) я оркестр плохо слышал. Прям, как для фона как будто поставили оркестр. Но, это на вкус и цвет. Я эту группу (за их 20 лет существования) в первый раз слышу. И даже не видел нигде. Да и среди русского рока вообще пока не могу кого-то выделить выдающихся.. Хотя, мне 41 и я могу уже отстать от музыкального направления@@иваниванов-ъ6м4п
