Just watched the video from last year a half hour ago. Most things in life aren't guaranteed, but getting knowledge from these guys every week sure is!
Always very specific with all the baits empresses me all the time and energy you spend to explain them to us. Going to try some of these soon as possible
Got my new PB yesterday on the okashira screw head with a 3” spark shad. Big fish eat the small baits sometimes too! Love all the info guys, thanks so much!
Tim, great video. I have had a lot of success with an underspin. Even though I would prefer using a chatterbait, I still love using the underspin. Thanks for the tips and I cannot wait for the next video.
I got way into underspins last fall. Definitely got me more bites. I actually ran out of them and made my own with a coin and braided line. Worked pretty well
I started throwing the flashy swimmer a lot last fall after hearing you guys talk about it. It was DEADLY for me! I was running it through lily pads and just crushing them. Caught my PB in December with it, 6.88lbs. These things work!
In my local lake, I use a belly weighted underspin and a 4.5 inch swim bait and it comes through all the hydrilla with ease. The water is generally gin clear, but its super stained right now. I shot some underwater video showing how stained it was and I'm going to record a few more times along the same stretch to show how it changes from early spring into spring and summer.
@@doublec1758 I've been surprised how tough they are. I can usually catch 5-6 fish on one before the end gets too torn up from being pulled off the screw lock. With a swimbait head they would probably last even longer.
@@JosephBliss get the larger screw locks and put them on the flashy swimmers. The stock screws are small, put the larger size on there and the swim baits last FOREVER!
Always love the content y'all put out, very informational. Now, please give the 6th sense divine swimbait a close look, iv had great luck this year on them, not to mention they are breaking records! Thanks
The new gamakatsu underspins have been working this year so far for me. Love they have the screw lock keeper and you can get em from finesse sizes on up
Quick question, do y'all have issues with the Flash Mob Jr running true and upright???? Mine seems to angle off no matter how I weight it as opposed to the Hog Farmers
Can't wait for the buyers guide!!! Hope line is in with one of those videos as well! Thanks for this one, I always find myself liking the underspins more than just the swimbait.
TIM! You and Matt should get with tackle warehouse and have them put together “packages” that have everything you guys show on RUclips. That way is viewers can just go and click the link and everything will go right to our cart. They would sell out fast lol
Live on Champlain so REALLY ENJOY Tim's videos as I'm finesse fishing 95% of the time. Often even when I'm throwing what would normally be considered power baits, either because of the speed I'm fishing them or the size i choose to use. Pretty sure you guys have done Saint Lawrence/ Ontario trips but i strongly urge Tim to come up for another northeast swing any time of year to simply experience the GEM that is Lake Champlain PACKED with 3-5lb smallies (average weight has risen quite a bit in the last 5-10 years since the ailwifes have hit the scene and now gobies are threatening to show up as well) . Also can regularly catch 4-5lb largemouth with an occasional 6+. Finish the trip on Lake Ontario and its possible 6+lb smallies and your livin the good life
I'm a big big fan of what you guys do. All the info is detailed and helped me alot! I Just have one question, i know you guys love throwing a lipless out there but have you tried the rapala rap V? Sure works great here in europe for big perch and zander. I'd love to hear your opinions on the rap V! Kind regards!
Very timely video for me. Can you explain the difference between the keitech swim impact and the keitech swim impact FAT? I used the first with Success, but I would like to know if you use it and when and what season what for what Bass species. Should i switch to the FAT?? Thanks, Guy
I think your right on the money for me I use the rage swimmers or swing fats mainly in the flashy swimmer type underspins around docks and areas where fish may be set up to feed but not actively chasing bait in my lake I have a lot more luck on actively feeding fish with a easy shiner and a open hook especially in more open water I also have had some crazy days with a fluke backed under-spin as Shad when they swim don’t do those really wide kicks like a keitech they do more of a gliding action
@tacticalbassin I would love too see you guys review edge rods! I would love to know how they compare to the gloomis line up. Especially if they have something compared to the nrx+. I love watching your guys videos.
@ 2:24 you said it can be done w/o the blade but I'd catch more with the blade, now what if the body of water is super pressured by Gill nets and cast nets almost on the daily.
In stained and muddy water, there is just no better confidence I feel than throwing an underspin. 3 days ago I caught a 3lb 9 0z on a regular swimbait head, but when I switched to an underspin yesterday, I caught my 4lb 10oz PB! I mostly use owner’s flashy swimmer but I really wanna try the style with the smaller blade/hook as there is not any grass right now.
Cool! That reminds me I have some easy shiners that I haven’t used. I will throw them on some under spins and open jig heads. Have you guys tried the Diawa 21 zillion tw g yet? Thing is amazing!!!
i use a weighted swimbait hook weedless in my fishery because of all the wood but i like the 3 alt Trokar with a 4 inch easy shiner works great for me sometimes I add a blade to the plastic and it works well also
I have a swimbait tied on all year. I've been putting more time into the megabass underspin too which is that cross from a swimjig but it's something completely different with a super sharp stout hook.
Lol...I just commented about the Uoze swimmer too. Gives ya alot of versatility and different look. You can let it drop to the bottom, and work it like a jig or use it like a normal underspin, but with secondary action! It gets bit for sure! I rarely see anyone else using them either.
Hey Tim try the ecopro tungsten underspin. It comes with a trokar hook. Really good underspin IMHO. I'd love to have you review it and hear your opinion on it
I have a question Tim but it’s a little off topic.. I was out the other day throwing a swim jig with a keitec trailer and was getting a ton of short strikes… so I added a trailer hook and burnt them up.. have you or have you heard of anyone putting a trailer hook on a swim bait? I’ve never seen a video/anyone do that
Can you guys review the 6th Sense swim baits. They are catching 10-17lb bass in Texas on them weekly. Is it the Livescope that’s helping them catch these fish or is there really something unique about their swim baits.
I really like the gambler EZ Swimmer for weedless underspins. The channel on the back let’s me just hide the hook without hooking it into the bait and is still pretty weedless.
Other than when bass are feeding on schools of bait fish, when would you throw the under spin? Would you throw the under spin over a traditional swimbait in stained or muddy water? Also what do you think about the Zman swimbaits?
I fish in a shallow lake, 3-4ft, with lots of vegetation such as lily pads, reeds, and grass. The water is stained year round. I’ve had a lot of success throwing the flashy swimmer through pads and grass. It is insanely weedless, and I caught my PB on it back in December. I’d definitely try it out, it works.
I really like the Megabass Uoze swimmer to change things up this time of year. It's different from what everyone else is throwing, I can work it like a jig or an underspin. Anyhow, for the guys that don't have 12 rods on deck, it gives you some versatility and switches it up a bit from everything else. *edit....that Okashira is the bomb. I even use em on an A-rig. Again, something different.
great video but a huge underspin deal was missed. Pin tail no action trailer like a flashtrix or a 3" slugo. Excels in super cold water when the fish wont move much. Luckily I grew up around the makers of coolbaits and its been out for 20 years for us.
Just started throwing the Jackal Rhythm wave swim bait. Have you guys had any success with them or any under water footage? I found out they are very durable and a very different look to a swim bait.
I have used these when I want a less intrusive swim bait and I have found them to be very durable as well. Very good when everyone else is throwing a keitech or rage swimmer. just my $.02.
I have only like 3 inches of water above heavy weeds and all the big fish are in there like 10 pound pike and like 5 pound bass. They are short striking the under spin and I'm not sure if I'm fishing it correctly. I noticed they target bushes where the small baitfish stay to hide and are in ambush spots but they never seem to commit when it passes infront of their face

Just in time went out yesterday first day of open water pond fishin 60 degrees and ice cold water killed em on the cool baits underspin and a 3.2 keitech
Actually, you don't have to settle for the smaller hook to get a smaller underspin- Picasso makes one that's got a heavy wire hook on it. It's called the Picasso single barrel- there is a double barrel if you're interested or curious- and it really works well. Has a plastic collar that slides up behind the head which has the underspin blade attached to it via a plastic, flexible arm. This way it doesn't hang on anything or break off- and you can remove it and just have the jig head if you want. They carry a 2x hook and the smaller 3/16th size is only 2/0- works great with a 2.8. It's built on the "smart mouth" head which is a quality swimbait head imo. The double barrel has two blades hanging underneath the head- but they're permanently attached- you can't remove them like you can the single blade. Once you remove the single blade it will slide up on about any jig head you want- including swim jigs. You can make a swim jig/underspin with ease- and they flat work. Megabass sells one called the Ouze swimmer but- you can make it with any swim jig using this blade attachment.

What conditions are you choosing a plain swimbait head over an underspin? This video seems to suggest that the underspin is universally preferred.
While the flashy swimmer runs better in grass it’s far from weedless. That wire blade snags so much grass.
Underspins are so fun to throw and they get bit
