Best show ever. I have been watching for over two years. At first I thought you were much to technical for me. I also caught nothing ! Three years later my catch rate is about 1 an hour & I expect to limit out. Even won a few local tournaments. Matt, you guys are without a doubt the best on youtube. Many thanks & keep em coming.
On all my FB groups, any time there's a bass question, I just instantly refer them here, I can't think there's anything they haven't covered. Excellent channel
Hi Matt, Miles here. I've never heard of B C U, Bass Catching University but Apparently there is one and You Graduated 1st in Your Class. Now I'm getting to go for free by watching All of your TOTALLY Detailed, Informative Videos!! Thanks my Friend, Please keep it up 🚤💧
I love this! I would love to see a spreadsheet of sorts. Column for clear/muddy water, column for temperature, column for depth, and a list of order in which you would try each bait. 15 casts then change to a _____, 15 casts then move to a ______. That would help me a LOT!
I've been watching tactical bassin for a while now and I have to say, as a bank angler I find your videos really helpful. They deserve so many more views.
You guys are awesome. I am relatively new and everytime I am looking to learn about some aspect of bass fishing I just google “tactical bassin....” and what ever I’m wanting to learn about. You guys do not disappoint!
I truly have no idea why the heck you guys get dislikes? You guys lit the fire under my butt a couple years ago to pick up the rods again...Incredibly thankful that I stumbled across you two guys thank you for all the content!!!
Those topics that you guys can go down a rabbit hole should be the extra vids. It be nice to have videos where you guys really dive DEEP into everything of one topic. Thanks
Thanks for everything you do Matt you must be the most knowledgeable fisherman in the world right now no discredit to no one but that’s just how I feel
Good tips. Up in northern Indiana I love to fish an all black full size spinner bait with a big all black Colorado blade at night. I’m the mid summer warm nights fish breaks and weed lines and slow roll it just so the blaze thumps. With a steady retrieve big bass hammer it and almost rip the rod out of your hand if you aren’t ready for it.
This channel with Matt and Tim easily provides an angler with very useful information. Doesn’t matter if you’re new or a seasoned angler. Pay attention. You’ll learn something in every single video. 🎣
My brother and I used to have a 14 acre private lake we could fish. It was managed very well and that's where I truly learned how to effectively fish different baits and when to use them. One frosty January morning we got out there at daylight and we started near the dock as always. I had a solid chartreuse kvd spinnerbait and my brother had the exact model but in firetiger. They just happened to be schooled up there and they were SMOKING those baits reeled at a moderate speed! We wound up catching at least 25 fish in 10-15 minutes all ranging from 3 1/2 - 6 lbs. The next morning I had to go alone and same story. First cast was a 3 1/2, next cast was a 4, and then I nailed my pb at the time at 7 lbs. I was so excited I quit fishing what a mistake! Water was super clear for that bright chartreuse! Reminded me of this memory when you talked about those spawning smallies!
So, yesterday I went down to a spot where I've had okay (sometimes 1 fish per day) luck. When I got there it was 104 degrees & the sun was dropping quick. I've been fishing a frog due to heavy brush but yesterday & after watching the first few minutes tied on a white spinnerbait with a shad trailer. Gotta say, after 5 fish, I'm a believer! Thanks for the great tips. Now I've gotta watch the rest of the video!!
Thanks to Tacticalbassin i give them so much credit for my success in fishing lately. Im not a hardcore fisherman I recently got back into it. I was always a drop shot person but after 2 months of watching Tacticalbassin every rig I’ve used I’ve had success with especially the Kietech worm with the chatterbait, and the underspin swimbait . I caught my personal best largemouth 6-8 pounds using a bluegill 4” kietech worm on a green pumpkin chatterbait. Thank you Tacticalbassin for all your tutorials.
One of my favorite baits to throw. I dig the way you place your replacement skirts. I was doing it in reverse of you. Your way, I can see will have so much more body. Always pick so much out of your videos. Thank you
Matt, I never can believe how one guy can think of so many great ways to enhance equipment, and increase hook ups. And then, to be so gracious, and share if with all of us... You are a true Blessing my friend to all of us bass fishing nuts!! Rock on man!!
Thanks for the tip on placing the trailer upside down for action on the chatter bait! It worked pretty instantaneously which I feel resulted in 3 good fish in 15 mins, cheers!
Your channel had my absolute go to for tips and tricks. Last season I caught a couple hundred bass jigging some kind of soft plastic. Doing so, my wrist and thumb have been since. I've never been great at spinners/chatters, but have been going to those more to allow my had to recover. Your channel has helped so much on the little tips that I've never really thought about. Thanks
Matt, cutting the paddle off the tail of the keitech was a game changer. Didnt think it would make that big a difference but it FLAT OUT did. Thanks for the tip!
This is a jam up video!!!! Loaded with great information!!! I’ve been in the salt for the last 20 years and I’m getting back into bass fishing this year. So much has changed since I was bass fishing heavy. Thank you so much for these great tips!!!
You guys have very informative videos and I understand you have found your niche on RUclips by doing these sit down talks, and it has worked out very well for you. With that said I do think you should do more raw fishing videos, or just including some fish catches in your sit downs to put some immediate proof behind your tips. I think your channel would benefit from this small change and you would get more viewers because of it. You guys are awesome and I hope you get to sticking some big ones soon! My favorite video of yours is when you just went out with an 8” hudd and caught a few fish to show just how easy it is.
I REALLY like this layout of video over the past one. The beginner section for those new to the bait at the start and have never fished it. The intermediate section for those who have fished it but are not that successful and the end for just the little tweaks once you have confidence in the bait to get the most out of it! I am new to spinnerbaits/chatterbaits but heard they slay smallies so here I am. Will be back to watch again after a few days on the water
The Indiana blade is very interesting. The colors of the smaller “Guitar Pick” blade might be a contributing factor, but the elongated willow main blade is the attractive feature.
I just bought my first buzz bait and chatter bait yesterday, haven't used them yet. I just checked out your buzz bait video earlier today and subscribed. Then later the same day you come out with a chatter bait video!! Keep up the great work and thanks for all you do!
Thanks again Matt, for a great video! Two of my all-time favorite lures, and now I know a few new tricks. One of the best fishing channels on the market, hands down! Keep up the great work fellas!!
Matt I do like you spinnerbaits and I do the same to my skirts, but I like to add extra clear strands to it for that " Clear Water". Good tip not many people realize how much of a difference when you skirt them that way! That's how I do it!
Strike King makes spinnerbaits with trailer hooks included and the skirt is tiered with a longer and shorter length to cover the trailer hook. It is 100% my go to spinner bait, the trailer hook has helped me land 2 PB’s!
I love chatterbaits , there my new favorite . Just by changing the trailer you can completely change how you fish it . I’ve learned so much from watching this channel . The zman custom off tackle warehouse that they link below is a great value like Matt says . The setup I use for it is a dobyns 734c champion with a shimano Curado 200k hg . Thank you for the great videos as always .
Michigan Fishin I’ll have to look into the Picasso’s shock blades , actually never heard of them . Yes I do have a black blue jackhammer . Very Nice lure , it’s like a luxury edition of the chatterbait . For the price though , you might be better off getting 2-3 zman customs chatterbaits instead .
Best fishing channel on RUclips period, you guys are awesome,I can say without a doubt that I catch bigger and more bass because of you guys 😁 good luck to everyone this year!!
You are so informative. Great teacher. You pronunciate everything so clearly and with such passion. Amazing video. I learned a great deal. I like how you show your favorites, but also promote testing it out and deciding on what is the best application for the condition. Great work!
I really enjoyed and benefitted from this video. Thank you! I got back into bass fishing last year during the COVID quarantine, and spinnerbaits were very effective for me on black bass and catfish(!). I used topwaters and crankbaits but it was hard for me to put down spinnerbaits because they worked consistently for me. I got into modifying skirts and changing blades last year and will experiment with your tips this year. I like your simple approach.
Matt you did it again! You knocked this one out of the park. These are pro level techniques and information that would take a lifetime to realize on your own. Great content great channel just great overall!!!
Holy cow.....I'm going to go broke filling up my shopping cart with all your recommendations! LOL. Love your explanations and straight forward approach. Now, IF I can simply remember all the combinations from numerous videos. Sheese..colors, shads, drop shots, football jigs....no wonder you have a boat with lockers of gear! My little 16 foot Alumacraft with no storage will be tricky this season :) Thanks for these excellent videos.
Great instructional video. Really challenged my thinking about colors. I did really well on black bass with spinnerbaits last year (2020). Thank you for the practical information.
The Jackhammer...if had only one choice, that would be my one choice. Confidence, confidence confidence. Yamamoto double trailer. Bait and trailer in green pumpkin.
Once again I'm amazed at how similar Matt & I fish, swear it's like he's my spirit fisherman! 🤣 Hog Farmer is the TRUTH! I'm curious if either of you guys have ever used their Swinging EWG Hooks? It's become my favorite way to throw a Keitech! It's weedless, the free swinging hook gives it a DEADLY wobble, & once you stick them they stay pinned cuz they can't use the head as leverage to shake it! Those hooks with a 4.3" Keitech have landed me both my 1st & 2nd Muskie (35" & 42") & a 4lb largemouth, all out of my home lake which is CRAZY for that lake! I'm in lower Michigan where a 4lb largemouth is something to cheer about! 🤣 I know a guy that has fished that lake for 15 years & he has never caught a Muskie! When I told him I caught 2 this year he looked sick! So I gave him one of these hooks & a pack of Keitech FATS to try his luck with them, he walked away cheesing! I had literally just ordered my 1st pack of the Spunk Shad earlier today to give them a try on my new chatterbait 🤣 #MattIsMySpiritFisherman
Hey bro , i really love your videos. You explain things very well i have been fishing bass as long as i can remember , i used to fish in tourneys with my old man . And i considered myself a well rounded bass master. Every time i watch your videos i take something away . Also the underwater footage is a game changer on learning how these baits present themselves , top notxh
I love trying techniques new to me. Researching and then targeting species has always been fun and rewarding. Thanks for these cool tips that I will try. Getting another tackle order together right now. But still need the spring season to arrive in northern NY. Clear Lake looks fantastic!
Just when I thought I had a secret weapon as a chatterbait trailer, Matt makes a video saying how great the spunk shad is. Smh. Great content as always guys
For years I have used something like the Zoom split tail trailer on my spinnerbaits. Sometimes I have to bite off a little because I don't want too much tail hanging from the back of the bait. Another nice thing about them is if you feel the need to use a trailer hook you can put it on the bait on top of the trailer. I always use the trailer hooks with the rubber over the end of the eye so that the thing isn't flopping all over the place. My favorite colors are bright green or chartreuse Andy white. I mix and match with a white spinnerbait or white and chartreuse. I use Terminator spinnerbaits and my favorite is the white and chartreuse tandem. I don't buy the titanium but use the cheaper one they offer.
Awesome video matt. Check out out the strike king perfect skirts, they have a standard length with a bunch of trailer tails that add length and cover a trailer hook with awesome action too. In clear water the smokey shad slays em🤐
Completely agree with the dayglo orange or red accent making a difference! When I threw spinnerbaits in the delta a lot I SWEAR it would out perform a solid white bait!
Earlier today I watched the video of David Fritts winning the '93 BassMaster Classic. He volunteered that he was throwing plain white bait to catch his fish. At some point he switched to white with orange and the bite quit. He reverted to plain white and resumed catching fish until he won the Classic.
Nice. Spinner baits are something I like to throw a lot. I throw tiny homemade ones on BFS(UL baitcasting) gear, for bass, and whatever else will hit them. Few weeks back I landed a decent 1 pounder on a sexy shad pattern spinner bait I made. The spinner bait weighs around 1/8 oz total weight, and has a single nickel hammered Colorado blade, with a mostly white skirt, with few tiny strands of chartreuse in it. I put a #4 sickle siwash hook on it via split ring. I make my spinner baits with a loop on them so the hook isn't fixed in place, and you can switch out the hook. If you get snagged, just pull enough, the split ring will open, and hook will come off, and can be replaced, without losing the whole lure. I like to throw these tiny spinner baits with a Shimano Scorpion BFS XG, on a 5'6" 2 piece Light shakespeare micro series rod, with 10 lb or lighter braid. Fun stuff! This is literally feather weight baitcast fishing.
Just wanted to say thanks to you guys, crank baits were never a strength, but after watching your video on lipless cranks and red ones at that I put it to use at my lake and it worked great wasn't a giant but it was a decent size.
I have to agree. My game has gone way up since watching these videos. Hopefully cash a check in the big bass bash this year.
I love a spinner bait when the weather a little nasty. Caught a Bunch 2 To 3 pound. Bass last year in the grass in late April
On all my FB groups, any time there's a bass question, I just instantly refer them here, I can't think there's anything they haven't covered. Excellent channel

Good idea to pull the colored strands out when they're not hitting. Nice nugget right there Matt!
The spinnerbait, my absolute favorite bait to throw, it's just so incredibly versatile. Thanks for another great video!
Yup, if I could only ever use one thing for the rest of my life, it would be a spinnerbait. Customization is damn near endless.
Except musky like them too. I lost a few spinner baits because of musky. I even started putting a steel leader on and a big musky broke that too.

Always informative and entertaining. Great communicator with real enthusiasm. Thanks.
Awesome video matt. Check out out the strike king perfect skirts, they have a standard length with a bunch of trailer tails that add length and cover a trailer hook with awesome action too. In clear water the smokey shad slays em🤐
One of the best trick on the spinner bait skirt! Will have to try that Sunday when I head out to the lake. 👍👍
Hearing you speak gives me immediate confidence in whatever bait you're talking about lol... I'm dying to go throw a spinnerbait now!!

I have had good results using bluegill flash color pattern in delaware ponds. Thanks for the great info as always Matt!
Such great teaching content! No doubt, the best on the Tube. Thanks Matt.
Try a Dream Shot on the back of a chatter bait works and looks great 👍🏻
Completely agree with the dayglo orange or red accent making a difference!
I like the war eagle white and purple it works best in all kind of water at least here in Oklahoma
Can’t wait to try some of these tricks in a few weeks.🤞🏻

Love the video man you guys always help me out a lot I just want to thank you and tell you I appreciate it
Just wanted to say thanks to you guys, crank baits were never a strength, but after watching your video on lipless cranks and red ones at that I put it to use at my lake and it worked great wasn't a giant but it was a decent size.
