If I ever found a genie lamp, my wish would to be to have Matt and Tim’s knowledge when it comes to bass fishing. Literally some of the best info out there. 🙏
This channel has been my favorite and most helpful one, I appreciate these guys helping me and all the fellow anglers out with our bass fishing. Thanks y’all!
I rarely comment but, @11 minutes 47 seconds had me cracking up. "If you have thick wood" and I think I detected a snicker right after from Matt. Yes, I'm 50 years old going on 10 😂
We're looking for thick wood, right? Ha
50 as well, should be 12 soon!
TB time again! LET'S GO!!! 🥇🏆🎣🙌🏻
I got two bass buddies to watch this video. Hopefully, they will be hooked on TB like me. As usual, superior job Matt, you are a master teacher and we appreciate you.
I watch this channel so much, that when Matt or Tim start the videos with "HEYYYYY Guys welcome back to..." she will finish with "let me guess... tactical bassin?" 😂 Keep up the good work guys. By far best bass channel on YT 🙌
Every morning I look for the latest TacticalBassin video, behold another one with extremely valuable information. Matt, thank you for your input and guidance.
I used the jackhammer in a muddy pond with the fire craw color and fire craw spunk shad and within 10 minutes caught a seven pounder this year. I know there’s no such thing as a magic bait and conditions change and all that but man these things work.
Thanks Matt
I used to have no confidence in a chatterbait but the last 2 years it’s really become my confidence bait, especially that mini max!
Dude I've been wanting to get the mini max what weights do they offer them in ? Do you have trouble getting them to stay on the bottom? I love fishing chatterbaits as close to the bottom as possible just barely making them vibrate.
@@LuisGutierrez-fi5rv 3/8 and 1/2
love the minimax! Caught a 7.4lbr in prespawn last yr on it. so it’s kind of my favorite chatter bait all round. It was on a 3/8 green and white one.
@@tims_always_fishing7117 WOW they come in those heavier weights in the micro sizes!!! I know where I'm using those asap ordering some soon
@Luis Gutierrez yes, don't be confused with the micro max, check the links in description
As you guys mentioned, the Jackhammer starts up chattering much faster than a standard Chatterbait. Aside from cosmetics that don't affect that performance, there's little difference between the two. The only difference I can see that can have an effect on that performance is the line to blade attachment. On a standard Chatterbait it's that single wire double loop connector where on a Jackhammer it's a shorter snap. I've gone through all my standard Chatterbaits, snipped off that wire connector and replaced it with a VMC size #0 crankbait snap, and it starts chattering right off the bat. There's a tip for those who don't want to pay Jackhammer prices (unless you want those other minor differences) but want Jackhammer performance.
This is great advice. I can't wait to completely forget it and never do it. 😅
Just kidding! I ran to Cabelas, bought a new basic chatterbait and some snaps! Hope it catches fish!
Thank you for this. Going to try it out asap
Or use a # 2 Decoy snap!
Y’all never let me down…. Always great info always pushing the info out on what’s what and always sharing knowledge to us all. You guys are the best for a reason and it shows in ever video. Thank you for all the hard work and info 👊😎
Cheers dudes !!!
I lost you guys for two or three years because I got a new phone and I'm so lazy! I'm sorry! But I found you guys again I am so amped. You guys are by far the best bass fishing channels on RUclips. Thanks again for all the time and effort you put into your videos. They are extremely educational.
I use Flukes as my chatter bait trailer bc of that erratic action of the fluke tail in the water and I feel like it keeps up with the speed of the bait itself really well. I will have to try that spunk shad to see if there’s a noticeable difference in the amount of fish I catch or not. Thank you for the info Matt!
This type of thing is my bag baby
Chitty chitty bang bangin it out with the chatters!
Excellent breakdown as always, Matt. Thank you!
Just over the past year I have gotten good with a chatterbait. Last weekend on guntersville I couldnt get bit on one until I switched to a jackall break blade. I guess it was just enough different to get bit.
One thing I have found……I fish the spunk shad a lot. Sometimes I use the berkley chatterbait trailer or the new beast coast trailer….but my most productive trailer by far has been the 6th sense flush. It has very good crazy action much better than a normal fluke style bait, id say close to a spunk shad. And then i started using their juggle minnow on the mini max…….let me tell you, that is something special. Even better than the flush. Its like a spunk shad made for a mini max…..the tail on that thing whips around like crazy. Thanks for the vid guys…..you guys are awesome.
Matt was nailing that Paca Craw dance!!!!!
This is another awesome video an so informational this is the only page other than Justin royals page that actually explains what they’re catching giants on
A lot of chatterbait fishing wisdom in your presentation. Well done!
Hey Guys... great channel and really dig the videos and awesome information. I really appreciate the methodical approach and supplemental info included with each video. Been working the chatterbait all winter/early spring.... and finally landed a 4lber for first time on one today!. Cold, rainy, water temp around 57ish... so caught the young bucks on underspin white curly grub, then came through again with a big black/blue chatter with black/blue flaked chunk craw trailer... slow small hops and blammo! So thanks for the help! I was loosing confidence on the bladed jigs (had more luck with jerk baits and spinner baits over the winter!) but now feel I have another weapon in the arsenal! Was a long time trout/salmon fisher - but been in VA for a year now.. and 'hooked' on largemouth fishing! I have ramped up quickly thanks to you Matt &Tim (and some other great resources too). Anyway dropping you a Happy Friday and Happy Fishing note... take care!
" welcome back to Tactical Bassing"
Love this channel!
There's not many anglers that enjoy teaching/sharing tips so others will fall in love with the beautiful simplicity of fishing...
Ive only been rippin lips (respectfully) for almost 2 years and I have pulled in some MoNsTeRs (aka giants) because of y'alls simple but efficient tips.
Respectfully, please show more of your reeling techniques rather than just the bait.
I firmly believe experience is the way to learn, but y'all have proven to be a starting base.
Thanks for your valuable time and information 👍 🙂
Always informative, always in depth, always a pen and pad in hand and tuned in!!!! ❤🎣🎣
Matt, this was excellent, great job and thanks for explaining all the "why" behind your chatterbait preferences, extremely valuable info and appreciate your sharing with us!!
Thanks for the feedback Dave! I really appreciate it!
I need more arm demonstrations in future videos please 🤣
😂😂😂
I slay with a white mini max with a 3 in sexy shad Keitech. All thanks to you. My #1 bait
Excellent video. Some pro's are saying the Jackhammer is losing a little of it's luster. I like all models and have had the most success with red craw and black/blue. Thanks for sharing!
I just want to say….i have experimented a lot with chatterbaits in past couple years and found what works for me……..and I never not once tried a paca slim craw which is crazy because i use them so much as flipping and t-rig baits, sometimes even punching. I have more oaca slim craws than any other soft plastic craw and it never even occurred to me to try it on a chatterbait. Thanks for the tip Matt….you are a beast!
Man I've been binge watching TB so much lately and really applying the lessons learned. Even though right now I'm bank angling, I've noticed a huge difference in the caliber of fish I'm getting. Bites are few and far between and my buddies give me crap lol but then they see I pull in a 5 + pounder and they started paying attention quick. TB's content is real and works if your humble and willing to listen 💪🎣
Me too haha. I ve been going back watching alot of stuff from 7 to 10 years ago.
Matt I noticed that you store your chatter-baits in the compartment type Edge boxes.
One thing that you can do to improve your storage situation is buy the edge jig box. If you take a Dremel and shave down the triangular supports that hold the jig heads, you can fit a ton of chatterbaits in that box. It will also improve the fitment of jigs with larger bulkier heads.
This video should win an award and Matt’s hand and arm action is mesmerizingly good
The slobber knocker in is amazing as well. The blade/head connection is unique and is good around wood.
I ordered my Slobber knocker red craw with red Stringers trailers. I have some original Zman natural color. I'll have to get a Jackhammer black and blue
Love that Keitech swimbait trick where u trim of the sides of the tail whenever needing a chatterbait trailer.
The other thing to keep in mind. Is when you need it to get a little deeper and be able to keep it down lower in the water column you want to go with a fisher profile. Especially an actual split tail swimbait.
And if you want to keep it shallower. Say if your using it in shallow water and maybe bringing it over top of beds or just shallow shallow cover you want to use the craw profile. It will get hung up on anything way less if u use the flatter craw profile. It almost glides over the top of whatever your fishing instead of getting caught down in it.
I love the chatterbait. And have spent many hours experimenting with different trailers and learning how they are working.
And these are two recommendations that I'm strong about.
I've also noticed. They are extremely killer around docks when fish are really actively biting. And this is a wise choice for those anglers with a little weaker casting ability. If you are not as accurate as some guys and you can't properly fish in those areas that are tough to get to. If u hit multiple angles the chatterbait has the ability to draw those fish out from under the dock and actually chase your bait down. Making it so if you're not as accurate you can still pull those hard to reach fish as long as you fish it by slow enough
Great stuff, I'm a chatterbait bid time user and I learn a lot in that video !!! Thank,s a bunch 👍
Great overview Matt! I can tell you that I’ve had the MOST success with a fluke as a trailer on my Jackhammers. Definitely going to be throwing BOTH this season tho.
Stealth blades USED to be good for pressured fish, but after this video I doubt that’ll be the case lol!
Chatter bait is my favorite lure I caught 2 /4 pounders this week they are smashing it this prespawn season 👍🏽👍🏽🔥
Every morning 🌄 I love to watch you show us gear tricks tactics even thou, I love to bass fish its more intriguing that I learn more from you guys at 50 then I have from any other person on earth 🌍. Thanks guys I've been with you through your bad accident to you moving to another state so we want you to show us how in real action how every lure you ever showed us underwater or above how they work and you catch fish bring it all lures both you and tim. Great stuff.
The #juice right here! Watch it over and over again. Love it Matt & Tim (Tb family)
Love the content in this one. Thanks, Matt !
Love the Crosseyez and Minimax. Exactly for the reasons you gave. I mess around with other stuff just to try things out, but those are my staples. I don't hit the water without a light and dark of those two.
Udk why im sharing this and Suprised matt didn't mention it. But I cut a zoom finesse worm off at the 1st egg sack then rig the about 4inch piece you have left, on the chatterbait its been my go to trailer now for awhile💯😬🤫🤫
Aloha!
¡Buenos dias amigo!
Gonna be a good day!! ❤❤
You finally convinced me, I just ordered some spunk shad.
Awesome info that’s Matt 👍
Caught a nice 6lb on a stealth blade and a 7 on a big blade. Love those 2
Great info vid. Thank you for covering this.
Lost my jack hammer yesterday bank fishing, got caught up on some wood, I'm gonna definitely pick up that crosseyez thank you guys for the tip.
Great lure
I’m a recent subscriber to this channel and I’ve learned a lot already! Thank you for vids like this. Keep them coming!
Another gem 💎 of a video! Keep up the great work!👍🏽
Awesome job. I love the Jackhammers!
It’s clear Matt Loves the Chatterbait ❤️👏👏👏
Great video!
I love fishing a minimax 3/8 or 1/4 oz on my Shimano poison adrena medium glass. Never missed a bass on it.
Any chance you all will do a whole video dedicated to the "Most Versatile" setups you would take with you to unknown lakes? E.G., a whole video of setups like the 6'10" MH you discuss here; maybe a video where you discuss 3-5 setups like this that could cover the whole gamut of fishing situations. Thanks! You guys are the best!
I love seeing how each one of you gets their lines back in as quickly as possible and run to get that net. my 1st experience on a boat as a co-angler could not be more miserable, the guy would not come help me land giant bass, and as a beginner I ended up losing them feet from the boat. Could you please make a video of the etiquette of fishing together on a boat so some of us can learn a little? Thank you!
Thanks for the idea for chatterbait storage. Picked up a pack of the Missile baits in green pumpkin delight this morning. Should pair really well with the BHite delight.
Great video! Thank you!
Matt, I started fishing chatterbaits in south America, there is a fish called "Traíra" that love chatterbaits, my Personal best on that fish came with a regional version of a chatterbait. If I was going to build a kit to survive the zombie apocalipse I would have a chatter there.
What's the stronger snap you go to? You said in the video you would link it in the description but I don't see it.
Cross eyes on thick wood. Got it.
💀
That's what I like about the jack hammer. It engages the blade right away. No other bladed jig does that I have found. Spend the money and you will be happy. Thanks for the info guys.
Matt thanks for this great video it helped me a lot.
The 6th Sense Bongo and Juggle Minnows have become serious players in my chatterbait trailers!
absolutely love the jack hammer with a 4.5 swim bait. i need to try that spunk shad. love your videos
Awsome Video buddy 👍. Busy putting together my shopping list yo add Chatterbaits as part of my arsenal. Learnt a lot from watching this . Thanks
Like always, you come to us with such detailed information that always helps on the water! I have a question about the Zman willow vibes and not sure if they are chatter bait category but was wondering if you have ever used them any??
Stealth blade is one of my favorites. Caught my personal best on it at night time too
Bruised green pumpkin is KILLER!
3:40 i think thats the first time ive seen a fish netted out of the water, lol nice catch.
The Mini Max & Stealth Blade are my 1-2 punch, my bread & butter, I have both laying on my deck at all times! The Mini Max all but replaced the Jack Hammer for me as we tend to have smaller bait fish up here in the mitten, I think I tied a full sized Hammer on twice last season. I did really well sticking to the 3" Zako & 3.5" Spunk Shad last season but I'm gonna give the smaller Swimon a try this spring!
I just love hearing you describe all the equipment you use. One thing that I wish you would do is especially for chatter baits the size of trailers you use for each chatter bait or swim jig. What do you use for a mini-max; size for a jackhammer; or swim jig?
Very helpful! 🙂 Thanks! 🎣
Good stuff!
Great video!!!
Now that lake is the definition of smooth as glass. Especially after Tim’s wind interrupted video.
Excellent. So that's 33% of your CB knowledge. Can we expect 2 more videos.😉 Thank you
So what size trailer for a 3/8 jackhammer?? So much information to take in at once but I'm addicted to this channel
Ty I need to try them more . Never once had a bight but in fairness no longer than a hour when I did go .
Stealth blade is my go too with the upside-down keitech
What a catch at 3:43
Great video 🤙
You guys need to get some core tackle hover rig hooks. It’s a super unique design and it can be fished a number of ways.
I second the stealth blade! Caught some good ones on that and a great 5 fish limit with it here in MN.
That Dobyns Champion 736CB Hvy glass is 🔥 🔥🔥
caught my pb peacock on a bluegill jackhammer. best bait ever
That Spunk Shad purple reminds me of that Damiki Armor shad Purple...love that color. I'm a nut for Wakasagi with JDM baits, so I recon it makes sense. Purple spunk shad would be one of my favs. 😉
The clear water here on Bull Shoals seems to lend itself to purple well, and not a ton of guys throwing it.
The mini max on ponds and smaller lakes, is really good.
Tactical Bass fishing gives great info on catching fish
Dobyns 734c rod is phenomenal for the money. Arguably the best all around bang for your buck rod on the market.
I have a typical graphite rod fast action rod and had no issue getting lure out of heavy covor. A major tip put a good amount of slack into the line a little extra is better. Reason being it'll relax the line and help release tension on the line to make it easier to pop lure out on the slack line.
I haven't caught one fish on a jackhammer. However, i have been catching tanks on the projectz. I'm going to grab some spunk shadz. Thanks for the video.
Great tips as always, but everyone needs to use mono for a chatterbait!
I would watch this channel. Even if I didn't fish. I'd listen to Matt talk about anything tim too
Holy crap dude that 1st bass was a fucking monster!!! Thanks for the video, not familiar with these and am an intermediate fisherman. All of your videos have been a huge help and are well made. Thanks!
This lure constantly catches giants the right place with right color !!
Started using a chatterbait last fall and got my pb largie (3.7lb, kinda big for Champlain) the same day. Needless to say gonna be throwing a lot this season
You had me at chatterbait. I have become addicted to them after watching your videos and starting to fish them. Side note idea for video that you touched on Traveling what rods do you pack and why IE. like you said this one for x,y,z that one for a,b,c etc. What lures do you absolutely have to pack when heading to midwest, south, north, west, east etc. Thank you for all you do.
