I’ve caught more fish on the Thunder Cricket than any other vibrating jig. The Berkley Slobberknocker is quickly becoming my second favorite. The spunk shad has been my favorite trailer and the Big Bites Kamikaze is my second favorite trailer.
4:40 thats facts, im 14 so I dont have 15$ to spend on a lure that I could very easily lose, I just use normal 6 dollar chatterbaits and I hate losing them even at their price point.
Yeah they're awesome, Blade Minnow from Strike King also good, as is the Komodo from Gambler. If you're hung up on just just 1 trailer thats probably not a good idea with a chatterbait.
really good video. Quality communication by this guy. I didn't have any questions at the end like I typically do w/ these gear videos. Good angle on the retrieve
0:35 that is literally me. Got the jackhammer special rod, and it goes EVERYWHERE with me. How have I never seen this video!! Lol 5:52 the zman David Walker crosseyes chatterbait is a GREAT bait to use also. Especially with those weedless arms on it. Its way better around cover than the jackhammer. 6:47 that thundercricket is amazing. Different vibration. Lot more subtle. Don’t sleep on it.
Caught two back to back on a green pumpkin seed chatterbait with a green pumpkin seed horny toad as a trailer. first one was 7.14lbs and the second one was 6.04lbs. I always have a chatterbait tied on.
Thanks for the info, i havent had much confidence in chatterbaits personally, but i want to have confidence in it. Im gonna keep throwing it every now and then.
Good stuff! I recently discovered the effectiveness of the chatter bait and is now my go to search bait in any season. Question for you, with your Zako trailer. Are you using the 3" or the 4" for your 1/2oz and for the 3/8oz? Or same size for both? Appreciate your content!
Nice bass. What’s your thoughts on the Dobyns 706cb-not the glass one? I been eye balling it for some time for chatters and spinnerbaits. The trailer I like is the big bite kamakaze swimon. Thanks for sharing-imma take a look at that icon too!
The most expensive vibrating jig I've used is a thunder cricket and I fish the original chatter bait all the time and work's great for me because in my opinion no one throws it anymore and the fish don't hear the vibration from the original much and work's in my favor 99% of the time I fish it
I try to use obscure and out of fashion baits when I can just to show the fish something different. Last year I pulled out some of the original Sluggo's with gold flake and did really well with them.
@@tanker335 very cool! I just did a basement and garage clean out last week and found an old tackle box that had like 5 of the older style hula poppers and a few jitter bug's and can't wait to get them cleaned up and get them out on the water! Good luck out there and stay safe my friend!!

Build your own or find a local guy that does. 16$ for a jig head, a skirt, and 5 cents of sheet metal is a straight tip off. I have a local guy and his baits kill the bass. Try a rage frog for a trailer as well. It will be big bass only though.
Never understood why everyone that is right handed cast with right then switch the rod to the left hand and retrieve with the right, just buy a left hand retrieve. Use your right arm to pull and set the hook, reeling in the lure doesn't require any force.
@@nathanquincefishing7122 I first learned to fish on a spinning reel. The crank was always on the left. Im right handed. Other than just feeling awkward for a bit, there is almost no reason to not try it these days. (Other than having to buy 15 more reels...lol)
It's about power and efficiency. The majority of the time you're casting towards the shore, off the right side of the boat to targets and mostly to the left which means you're bringing the bait in L to R. In order to rip a chatterb (or other moving baits) thru weeds or rip weeds off, palming the reel with your left hand and tucking the butt of the rod between your left arm and side and yanking the rod hard to the right is the fastest, most powerful, and most efficient way to do this and you can't do it at all with a LH retrieve reel.
My Walmart doesn't have Ozark trail chatterdonks. It has the spinnerbaits which are OK for the $. Just buy extra for when you cast the blades off the end. Not a great twist. And I'm not working g on a $1 lure
@heckgo193 their spinner baits work until you cast off the blade where it's half ass tied on. But yeah, I buy everything I can from Wal mart. Half the price of bass pro and the likes. Even the strike king stuff and like you said, the chatterbaits. Wish they carried a better stock of lines but I get by on power pro and big game. Wally world for the win
@@xDx0xUxGx and hes talking about wal marts z man collection. You know, the same people that make the jackhammer. They chatter much easier than the regular z man chatterbaits. I imagine e you know that though.

What made you change the Cashion rod from the Dobyns rod from one of your previous videos? I'm about to make a purchase of either the Cashion or the Dobyns Glass rod. Where you have used both which do you recommend and why?

I find the 7+ gear ratio reels are too quick for bladed jigs. The bait rides up too quickly. I know people catch them on high speed reels, and people say well you can slow down your retrieve, but it doesnt really work like that. 6.1,6.2, 6.3, 6.4, all perfect for bladed jigs
@@nathanquincefishing7122 yeah I actually just noticed that now that it's getting hotter out... worked great down here during the late winter early spring. Southeast Georgia. 🤙
The original is just as good as any .. maybe not components wise.. but for $5-$6.. it works. In early spring I’ve caught multiple 25-30lb bags in literally 30 mins ( when I get on them) with a green pumpkin original- I don’t throw them anymore since I have a vast collection of higher end vibrating jigs- but you can’t say “ don’t use the original “ it’s a great lure dude- especially to those on a budget, you make it sound like they can’t catch them on a original. My first ever 30lb bag came on a 1/2oz original on a spinning rod with a pflueger trion 5.2.1 spinning reel, when I didn’t have other rods and combos like I do now…just saying.. if presented- they’ll eat it no matter the gear
Had a chance to buy that Icon Chatterbait rod for $150, really wish I would have , ended up buying a St Croix Victory rip and chatter for $140, not sure if I like it yet
What’s wrong with the Z-man original? I’ve never had an issue with them. Are they as good as the jackhammer? No, but for people who can’t bring themselves to spend $17 on a lure that can easily be lost, I’ve always found them to be a good option. I’ve also found times where a Zako trailer (or any other swim bait trailer) just doesn’t seem to work but you toss on a craw trailer and BAM! Different outcome.
@@nathanquincefishing7122 well I agree, and you get what you pay for obviously and even if they’d come down to around $10 on the jackhammers I’d consider them “worth it” but at $15 to $17, unless you are tournament fishing professionally, I’d stick with the $6 original. The differences in total catches would be minimal. I can’t argue that the jackhammer isn’t better. It is. No question. My point is that the difference in productivity vs the cost isn’t large enough to warrant the price difference for your “average fisherman”. But if money is no object, by all means go for the jackhammer. It’s absolutely a better quality bait that will catch you a few more fish on an average day.
Lake fork tackle’s live magic Shad the original and best chatter bait trailer. Used the Zako’s not better and cost more. Used the original not the knock off.
