Imagine driving down the interstate, channel surfing the radio when this song comes on from a small city radio station. That was me, after forgetting about this song for 25 years or more. Now I thank the gods of music that timeless music and videos are on RUclips for all to rediscover and enjoy. 80's music was the best.
I agree ! I'm almost 53 and I too remember back in the early 80's when MTV actually played music videos ! Life back then was so much simpler. It's a shame MTV turned into what it is now. :-(
They formed at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in the late 1970s, and this song is now 40 years old as this song went to #10 on the Billboard Top 100 in June of 1981.
Classic 80s synths I was 16 when this aired and it was the lyrics and keyboards that grabbed me. I still love it just as much today in My 2024. 43 years later., it will be 50 years old in 7 years. Time flies!
@@antjestraub-bower7541 They did, (I've Had) The Time Of My Life is featured on a bonus track on the 1998 re-release of their Makin' The Point album and Hungry Eyes appears on the band's compilation album The Sweetheart Collection.
It was great to grow up in the 70s and 80s!!! Awesome music, no cell phones. I laughed recently telling my twin teenage granddaughters about pay phones, emergency breakthrough instead of call waiting lol 🤣
I remember listening to this song when I was at the park district pools in my hometown in East Central Illinois during the summer of 1981. I was 9 at the time, but it was still my favorite song that summer, and it’s held up as still being a favorite of mine.
No, the band name was Franke and the Knockouts, and this first album was on the Millennium label. "Millennium" is referenced on the flyer near the start.
@@bobdavis4848 Thank you for correcting me. I went to the 45 cat website, check out the U.S. discography, you are absolutely correct! It is Franke, and the record label is Mullennium. The album must've been released on MCA Records in the U.K. and in the U.S. on Mullennium Records. Thank you very much for letting me know. @@jasondudash5501 Thank you for your thanks. The word and record label has two "i"s, not one. It is spelled "Millennium," not "Mullennium." My spellcheck just put red dots under where I spelled it as you did. Wikipedia indicates the only label of Franke and the Knockouts was Millennium until that label folded and it was not until then that they switched to MCA for their third album, not this first one. So I don't think their debut album was on MCA in the UK. Have a nice day and stay safe.
@@bobdavis4848 Okay, you're welcome. And thank you for letting me know about the spelling correction. And I just went to the 45cat website, and I noticed that their first album was released on RCA Victor Records in Australia. I was mistaking RCA Victor Records with MCA Records. I was gonna check the label on the U.K. page but I also just found out that their discography on 45cat doesn't have a U.K. page. But I just noticed in the other list that it was released in Australia on RCA Victor Records. And just so you know, Wikipedia is not right about everything. And over the years, it has proven to be an unreliable source. Especially when it comes to accurate release dates and recording dates.
With that voice, Franke and the Knockouts should've been huge.

Remember watching this on MTV. Back when they actually were Music Television! Yes, I am old.

Yes I remember those times. They actually had good music back then.
Our generation had some great music 🎵🎶

Beautiful song
Why isn’t it on iTunes

I remember hearing this on the bus 🚌 when I was in high school back in the late 80s has a Toto vibe to it good song for the times
Sounds a lot like Toto
Great song. Lead singer Franke Previte co-wrote "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" and "Hungry Eyes" from Dirty Dancing.
Why didn't they recod those songs?

Greatest Synth solo ever, in my opinion❤
Loved this song in school in the 80s.
I wish I could go back to those times. I think I was about a year out of high school. Best times of my life
Still loving Frankie!!! 29May20!!!💞💞💞💞
His name is spelled Franke.
Thank goodness for You Tube! Thanks to the person who put this on here!!!
One of the great songs of the 80s,but did you notice he never actually boxed anyone? LOL
This was from my teenage years, when I had to listen to the radio until the song started, then hit Play/Record on the cassette player to record it.
Always loved this song. Despite this video.
The video's a little cheesy 🧀 😁

Would love to see the video of them performing this song at Garden State Arts Center, it seems to have disappeared.
This song is Franke-tastic! They sound alike Toto a little bit.
Frankie rulz
Love the song, but the video is Cring-Worthy! 🤦♂️
