It’s 75 degrees outside, not a cloud in the sky, car freshly detailed, sunroof and windows open, and this blaring on the radio over and over again. I’m in my happy place. 🥰
I still play this occasionally on my originally 45. Still love the song, then and now. Timeless, and they don't make them like this anymore. So glad to be a kid/teenager back then. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Be home by dark!!
I love 80’s music. I don’t care what music “purists” say about the era. I love it; always will & this song is in the top 5 of favorites during my fabulous 20’s…which was the entire eighth decade of the 20th century.
A real song by a real band. No computer generated tracks or auto tune over processed vocals. This was the end of a real era where you couldn't fake the music, you were real or you were out. I sing this song in my band and I always get positive comments from people who loved it then and now. But I will admit to do it justice I have taken it down a couple of keys from Dm to Bm. It sucks to get old but I'm still giving it my all.
@@barbieblue3336 yeah in this montage for a tv show, but dudes pipes are the real thing, he’s an excellent AOR singer and writer, dude and his band were amazing
Absolutely right 😍 I think you would love the Chicago cover band Leonid and friends 😍 YT and fb check out Old Day's,25 or 6 to 4, all their songs sound exactly like Chicago 🥰😁
Singers today would be screaming those notes and call it singing, like they do on shows like The Voice and American Idol and everybody will call it talent and applaud wildly.
I remember holding my best friend when she broke down after a bad breakup. This song was playing and she was trying so hard to sing it, but the sobs were too strong. That was 1982 and we were both 17. She's long married to someone else with children, but the pain of young love can scar you for life.
Totally agree! The shit that passes for music now is sooo freakin' sad. These kids today couldn't sing a note to save their lives. It's a shame that radio stations even bother playing it.
what passes for 'humanity' has been dumbed-down & ruined just enough to willfully accept it. Media whores rule now this devolved decade of decrepit mediocrity not musicians
Me too... Esta Canción es una de las más importantes de mi vida, me define... Un abrazo querido amigo. I recommend the song: "No more fear of flying" by singer and songwriter Gary Brooker, it is the same by Procol Harum ... A hug dear friend.
Although Frankie wasn't known for his singing chops, his writing was quite another thing. He wrote "Hungry Eyes" and "I've Had The Time Of My Life". He will never stop getting radio play.
The drummer here is Claude LeHenaff, who played on the band's first two albums(of 3), "Franke and the Knockouts" ('81) and "Below the Belt" ('82). Present day Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres played drums on "Franke and the Knockouts" third and final studio effort, 1984's "Makin' the Point". .... FACTS !
Pretty well correct with Claude and Tico, but the 2nd Below the Belt l.p. featured session drummer AL Wotton on drums. Neither Claude or Tico on those cuts. All fantastic drummers.
I am now 55 and this was the song in the summer of 1981 after I was out of Pittsburg High School ..WOW, what a summer that was in the east bay !! GREAT TIMES 4 SURE !!

That's what I was doing also, on the door step of 56 , my family business was across the street from our Rollerdtome. I'm instantly back there at the first words of a dozen Songs. Lover boy, 38 Special., Take a minute or two back to it any time!
Thad L McMullen yeah 53 here. Guess some of us are stuck in the 80's. We had Bandstand on Saturday mornings. Solid Gold on ABC Saturday nights. I remember the first AB when Madonna did "Holiday". That's why I practically live on You Tube. I can go back to the Big 80's.
I love this tune! Can’t believe these guys didn’t make the big time forever….they were great, not to mention good looking dudes. We all missed out on a really great big time band!
Truly one of the greatest Songs of the Summer of '81! My Cousin & I discovered these & other bands that Summer along with REOs huge Hi Infidelity Album as we broke Records Riding the "Gemini" (Dream) Racing Roller Coaster 36 times in 1 day at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio! We went 4 times & met girls all Summer as "Sweetheart" Blasted out on the Airwaves! All of a Sudden, It was late August & time to Start College!
Omg! What beautiful memories with my 1st husband. Living on Elmendorf AFB starting our family and onto McGuire AFB. Many years of happiness. I want to go back. This song makes me happy and teary eyed. So emotional.
Heard this today on a lite rock station near Cleveland TN. Was such a surprise and had the speakers rattling singing along with this mostly forgotten 80's gem
Excelente melodía, la letra de amor típica de los 80s cuando la música romántica tenía sentido. Grupos como Toto, Styx, Ambrosia, Journey, etc. dejaron un legado imborrable
I just heard this song yesterday and had to find it. I thought it was TOTO or Foreigner. Thank God I know how to capture lyrics and Google found it for me.!!! How did I miss this!!!!
I wasn't a fan of pop music in the 80's, I leaned more toward hard rock & metal. I wasn't till many years later a musician friend of mine turned me onto this. By that time my musical tastes had changed enough to open myself up to other genres of music, and I've loved it ever since.
What has happened to male singers like this one? Back in the day we had Steve Perry, Sammy Hagar, John Parr, Lou Graham, Mickie Thomas, and so many others that could just belt it out and had these strong, masculine voices. Today all we have is that shrieky-voiced Adam Levine. Same goes for the female singers. You could tell them all apart back then.
That’s what I asked him. He wrote I’ve had the Time of My Life and Hungry Eyes for Dirty Dancing and won an Academy award and Golden Globe for Time of my Life but Franke and the Knockouts should have been huge with a voice like that. He said Time of my Life became bigger than his band career. He makes 6 figures a year in royalties from that song.
I love this Song , sounds like a mesh of Toto and Ambrosia.
I was thinking Toto, Ambrosio + Hall & Oates.
And better than both!
Agreed. Nice pull.
Oh my God you nailed that you're right it is it like a cross between total and Ambrosia which I love them too
All my life I thought it was toto and today I realized that it is not like that ... Great band
Franke went on to win an Oscar for best song from a movie. He co-wrote "I've Had the Time of My Life" from Dirty Dancing.
I didn't know that.
When it works, there is nothing like young love. Its simply the best...
Not many men can hit that vocal range like Frankie. Great tune from an even greater era.
I can’t get enough of this song. Then or now.
I keep wearing this song out! Way back and now!! 😃 just love it!! You cant help but sing along ya know 😁😃💗
Love it
I love this song and love playing it on the piano too.
Same.
It is one of my favourite songs I used to sing it to my dog

Ironically, the video is of them lip-syncing to the studio track...
(But it's still one of my favorite 80's tunes, though.)
@@bluehornet6752 They did it live on 'Fridays.' seems like almost everybody lip-synced on AB.

Love this song. The type of song you can listen to on a Saturday night sitting on your back porch and relaxing.
The ranges he hits with his voice are really something you don't hear anymore. Now that is talent! Sure miss the 80's!

You are so right. Young love hurts the worst.
I'd forgotten about this song till I heard it the other day in of all places..the supermarket. First time I've heard it in over 30 plus years!!
Geez, I teared up and couldn't swallow and reading this!
The pain is no easier for those at 52. The pain of mid life love of your life can scare you for life.
I lost a brief relationship at 41, love and loss never changes whatever the age.
What a SONG. What a VOICE.

Omg so right on! In fact, what's considered music today obviously registers to the wrong people! And they're clueless!
