Long lines at all the cool rides! We went and did all the family rides! lol.

My noolywed summer. I was too young to fully appreciate the singular and exquisite nature of it then. I have a feeling that my young wife did. Cancer claimed her life over 21 years ago. I'm not trying to be a downer here. I have good memories of 1976 and of our years together. Now if my wife were still here _she'd_ have some good memories. She was a good historian with a keen memory. Hearing "Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck brings a lot of good memories of '76, that Bicentennial Summer, into focus.

Bo Wagner rocked on the Marimba (not xylophone) and drove the women crazy with his tap-dancing routine...
When Bo was ten years old he was a TV guest on the Original Mickey Mouse Club as a featured drummer and tap dancer...He also, in the early 1970's, worked as a studio musician in Los Angeles, appeared on The Lawrence Welk Show for three years and toured with The 5th Dimension, Roger Williams and Liberace.
I worked for Starbuck's Lighting dude, Larry, and saw them live several times before going to Navy Boot Camp...
Some memorable gigs were at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton and the Toys For Tots concert at the Omni in Atlanta...
The guys were all great people...

It was like divine intervention to hear those words "nothing like a scattered dose of ocean" as I was admiring it. I can't believe it was almost 50 years ago. That 1976 bicentennial year was something to remember. Everything is red white and blue. RIP to all the lost family that were there for those magical 2 weeks. Best summer of my life. I listen to this song and it sets me adrift on a sea of blissful memories. I see my grandparents white Mercury with the ignition on the dash, my parents disco dancing, drinking Schlitz and smoking weed with the neighbors, graffiti trains and bell bottoms dragging over gritty NY sidewalks, and a world full of big sunglasses and smiles. What a beautiful summer to be 4. What a beautiful song.

This may be one of the greatest one-hit wonders of all time. It beautifully captures the hedonism of the 70s and features a unique marimba solo that I understand Bo Wagner recorded in one take. Wish I’d been old enough to understand what it was about in 1976, but I was still a kid.

This was one of the greatest tunes of the 70’s and yet didn’t hit that top spot. Every 15-30 minutes this song was being played on multiple stations. Bruce Blackman is incredible as is Bo. You all should check out Bruce’s tune “Jim’s Cafe”. It’s awesome!

I saw them live at Disneyland in 1978 during our High School "Senior Grad Night" where several LA area school let kids that had no disciplinary record go for $20 bucks, free bus rides to and fro, and 2 live bands- Starbuck and Rose Royce ("Car Wash"). Best $20 bucks I ever spent in 1978! And to my knowledge, since everybody was required to wear suit and tie and girls dress respectively, thus, no violence or bad shit went down (other than a couple kids getting caught with some Mother Herb, but that didn't affect anything.
