I love cardigans! I am going to practice with a baby cardigan and if it goes well try this one out. The green gradient sounds like a great idea. I’ll have to watch Ravelry to see what colors others have come up with. Update: nice to learn German short rows. Never used those (knowingly) before.

You're killing me!!! 🤣🤣🤣 This is BEAUTIFUL, the buttons are perfect for the sweater and the YARN is AMAZING!!! I looked at the yarn choices and calculated the yarn needed 😭... I have to choose hair cut, nails or yarn🤔. Haven't had my hair done since 7 month's ago, nail 2 months ago and and bought more yarn since September Oasis fingering yarn, what comes first😢 Got to go with hair before the Gov shuts the salons down again. Sooooo I'm starting a yarn stash fund so I can buy the yarn to knit this sweater ($200 +). 🙄 shhheeessshhhh

I'm not a very experience knitter but hey, you have to start to step up and take on different challenges. 😊 I was reading through the pattern and it indicates 5mm DPN's but I don't know what length neddles to purchase? What would be better wood, metal or plastic?🤔 Thanks for your wisdom and suggestions. I wish you well.
@@HugsXO Sure - any length of dpns would be fine. I prefer metal but if you're a beginner, wooden ones will be easier as they will hold the yarn better. You can also just use circulars instead and use the magic loop method if you prefer!
@@ExpressionFiberArts I have circular metal needles and I look for info on magic loop. As to the length of the DPN's, does it matter? No one has been able tell me about this other than you with using MLM. Thanks Chandi, can't wait to get6 the yarn.😊💕💕💕

I do love this pattern and your wool, but can the pattern be used unmarled and not doubled in wool? I would find this cardi too hot, but with just one layer of wool it would be beautiful. Any options available to creating a pattern that is one strand not two? Sorry to be painful, but I love the wool and the pattern. In Australia we don't need such heavy knitwear for winter.
You can for sure play around with various yarns to see what you prefer. Just make sure you get gauge!
In one of your patterns you do ssk, is there a structural difference between that and k2togtbl? I’ve been looking everywhere and I cannot find a definitive answer?
From what I understand, the difference is that k2togtbl makes a stitch that is twisted while the ssk does not. I hope that makes sense.
I would love to try your yarn❤!! but because of covid im working less since they cut my hrs so Ive started knitting and it helps me stay sane. Can you provide a list of other more affordable yarn to use with this pattern?

Thanks to you and Jane for the lovely pattern, can I ask if instead of the twisted tweed, can you substitute with Luster sport weight? Also I am not used to knitting using skeins instead of balls of wool, for quantities would I use the following based on size 7 requirements ColourA
2 skeins, Colour B 2 skeins & Colour C 3 skeins. Thanks Angela

I can't figure out the way the sizing is done, which one would be XXL in US sizing?
The easiest and most accurate way to figure out what size you should make is measuring your bust circumference. Based on that and adding the amount of ease you'd like to have in your cardigan (Sweetgum suggests 0-4" of ease) you can choose the Finished Size. So for example if you have a bust size of 40" and take into account the positive ease of something between 0-4" you should make size 5 which is a finished bust of 42".
I hope this helps and explains how to choose for the correct garment size for you.

How do I know what size to make for myself?
The numbers correspond to ones bust size. So for instance, if you make a 1 it would create a 31" bust which would also be 78 centimeters. (and so forth) Another example would be if you make a 5 it would create a 42" bust size which would be 106 centimeters. Does that help?

Yes, the size 3 correlates to a 35.5. inch bust. The bust is true to size. I am a size 34 bust and I wore a size 3 in the pictures. 💕

The link is usually also given in the description box below the tutorial. The written instructions for the Sweetgum Cardigan have a schematic on page 10 which will give you length for body and sleeves. For an XS size the sleeve length from the underarm will be 16.25" and the body will be 11.75" from under arm to hem. I hope this answers your question.
