Oh well, on the bright side we have emulators and the pikmin modding community to give us a varied of vs experiences we can play online with friends. Also fun fact 1:18 in 2p battle actually blues get buffed to have red pikmin damage, instead of reds being nerfed
I never went back to play 2 player mode. But as a kid, I enjoy this a lot. Even with my siblings, we had a blast and it was pretty challenging. Most of my losses was either due to my pikmins getting shocked, blown up, or get crashed by rocks, leaving me to regrow my pikmins. Other case is when the breadbugs kept stealing my marble and when they die, both of my siblings would steal my marble and before I can stop them, they would use the bitter spray on my squad and I couldn't do anything. Also anytime Raging Long Leg, I would go out of my way to kill that thing.
10/10, you can have pikmin boxing tournaments where both players start by throwing their first pikmin into a middle ground, and the winning pikmin fights the next pikmin of the other side until its defeated, rinse and repeat.
Fun fact: Since both players have the same lose conditions (damage, extinction, having marble captured) it is possible to draw the game. It end in a draw by both players dying at the same time, having all of their pikmin die in the same attack (bomb rocks are an excellent way to get a draw via extinction), and having both players colored marbles be captured at the same time. Also I think that the simultaneous marble collection can be because one has 4 and the other has the other color, but I'm not sure. If the round ends in a draw, the song will end with the pikmin chanting both names, rather than the winner's name.
Can't wait for the Pikmin 3 video! My partner and I have played 100+ hours of Bingo Battle together and I can't wait to learn some of it's secrets! Here's hoping Pikmin 4 gets Bingo Battle DLC!
I remember liking the vs mode a lot as a kid but I always won because none of my friends played Pikmin before we would play together. Wish I could’ve enjoyed a more equal experience with this mode.
The blue Pikmin are actually buffed to matched the damage of the red Pikmin in Pikmin 2's battle mode. You can check this by seeing how many hits it takes for a single Pikmin to break an egg. For reds it normally only takes 4 hits, whereas for blues it normally takes 5. But in battle mode, blues only need to do 4 hits.
My main reason for not playing multiplayer in Pikmin is simply bc I don't have any friends who play Pikmin It's not too great when one person knows how to play and the other doesn't If Pikmin 4 had a ranked online mode, I'd play it a ton for sure
They should turn battle mode into a full on online spin off game, with references to the games, like the Primordial Thicket, Garden of Hope, and Wistful Wilds.
Fun fact! Did you know that regardless if you have all upgrades, the water damage the Watery blowhog do in story mode will still make your captains do the damaged animation? Yet in vs mode Louie is immune to this, making it the only occasion a water attack does nothing to a captain
The spicy spray thing is actually true, but it only applies to the one pikmin shown in the cutscene. Also, the timer freezes once the dialogue box appears, so sitting in the cutscene for a while won't affect it. You can see the one pikmin power down early at 18:19 (center-right in the squad). That being said, that wiki editor phrased their explanation very poorly, so I can't fault the misconception. Weird choice to edit the wiki on a game they seem to think so lowly of.
Video/Stream idea Do pikmin 4 100% but a no death run, if a pikmin dies you gotta rewind, if a pikmin dies in a challenge or night expidition you gotta restart, I been doing this and im on my 4th full restart cause there is no restart the day option
I loved playing battle mode for the first time with my brother. I'd already been playing pikmin for years, but Pikmin 4 was his first real experience with it, and seeing how differently we played in Pikmin 2 battle was a lot of fun.
Nah, that's just a thing all of Pikmin 2. Try it out by going through the Hole Of Heroes and killing the Raging Long Legs again after Collecting the Remembered Old Buddy.
Silok, if you’ve played every paper Mario game, can you do like a rise and fall of paper Mario video or something… it would be *very* interesting. Especially when you get to the 4th instalment 💀
Really late to say this, but they were right about the sprays, just (as per their M.O.) very misleading. During the first few seconds of the cutscene, before the gameplay freezes, the timer continues to tick down... on the singular enemy/pikmin that appears in the cutscene.
The Pikmin 2 slander has been out of control lately. And it's almost always from Pikmin 3 fans who feel the need to roast Pikmin 2 in order to make their own game seem good.
No need to apologize. I'm a fan of Pikmin 3 too and I think this discourse is more hilarious than anything. Pikmin 2 is a very polarizing game but for all its faults, it's still my favorite in the series.
You said that it could be abit hard getting used to the old controls of the gamecube games and you said your friends were used to the pointer controls of 3. If you wanted something that is alot more similar to that you can play the wii version which for the most part has the same pointer controls. It doesn't work in the remaster despite them adding them to pikmin 3 deluxe for what ever reason.

Great video! It took me ages to find a good Pikmin pvp video.
This. I like Pikmin 4 a lot but not having Bingo Battle is a huge knock against it for me
Good video love 2p battles glad they getting more attention
Oh man I had so much fun with 2P Battle as a kid, multiplayer was super fucking chaotic and fun.
Can't wait for Bingo Battle's video lol
Great coverage! The Wiki section was hilarious
I remember hearing somewhere that in the Switch version that the 3 stage choices are bugged and always random.
Wish I could’ve enjoyed a more equal experience with this mode.
i like louie he's funny
Same!
He killed me but he’s a good lad!
Thanks for making an already expensive game even more desirable with a well done video! Sincerely, a GameCube owner that doesn't own this yet 😅
Tbh i only ever played 4 but this will be an very interesting series so thanks i hope you will talk about the disappointment from no online in 4
6:48 Yo Spotty Bulbear being as a momster drop would be actually insane. Holy am I glad they didn't put that in 💀
The blue Pikmin are actually buffed to matched the damage of the red Pikmin in Pikmin 2's battle mode. You can check this by seeing how many hits it takes for a single Pikmin to break an egg. For reds it normally only takes 4 hits, whereas for blues it normally takes 5. But in battle mode, blues only need to do 4 hits.
My main reason for not playing multiplayer in Pikmin is simply bc I don't have any friends who play Pikmin
It's not too great when one person knows how to play and the other doesn't
If Pikmin 4 had a ranked online mode, I'd play it a ton for sure
They should turn battle mode into a full on online spin off game, with references to the games, like the Primordial Thicket, Garden of Hope, and Wistful Wilds.
i wonder if he'll do a breakdown of nintendoland's pikmin battle mode, that would be fun to see
This video made me realize my phone has a left and right speaker. Thank you.
FUN FACT: u could also choose an earlier version of a wiki to revert it back.
Weird choice to edit the wiki on a game they seem to think so lowly of.
at around 12:38 something pops in for a single frame and then disappears
its just the three different variants of the map
1:04 THE MUSIC! SO NOSTALGIC
You should have edited the wiki dude’s changes back to the better version
Great Pikmin video as always dude. Also whats the music playing at 3:48?
Undertow from Splatoon 2
I never knew a multiplayer mode for Pikmin 2 existed until now
Video/Stream idea Do pikmin 4 100% but a no death run, if a pikmin dies you gotta rewind, if a pikmin dies in a challenge or night expidition you gotta restart, I been doing this and im on my 4th full restart cause there is no restart the day option
I loved playing battle mode for the first time with my brother.
I'd already been playing pikmin for years, but Pikmin 4 was his first real experience with it, and seeing how differently we played in Pikmin 2 battle was a lot of fun.
Having no friends and learning from this video that the ragging long legs dropping mitites was coded for battle mode
Nah, that's just a thing all of Pikmin 2. Try it out by going through the Hole Of Heroes and killing the Raging Long Legs again after Collecting the Remembered Old Buddy.

the squeaking is what gets me.
also someone should fire Esypo from the pikmin wiki.
im gonna try get my family to play it with me since i only ever had 1 gamecube controller
Silok, if you’ve played every paper Mario game, can you do like a rise and fall of paper Mario video or something… it would be *very* interesting. Especially when you get to the 4th instalment 💀
This game mode is peak especially with the pikmin combat compared to pikmin 3 bingo battle
So glad the funny got to be apart of a battle map
Really late to say this, but they were right about the sprays, just (as per their M.O.) very misleading.
During the first few seconds of the cutscene, before the gameplay freezes, the timer continues to tick down... on the singular enemy/pikmin that appears in the cutscene.
while the pikmin wiki clearly has its flaws, im still super glad its not a fandom or fextralife wiki lmao. those are so much worse
I have about 1morbliion hours in it, so yea i fucken love it
Just FYI you can only pick up bombs in that 1 specific stage in the ENTIRE game!
This is the only appearance of the ghost Pikmin
i loved playing bingo battle all the time
The beginning of the pit against Dandori
I have 100+ hours playing bingo battle with my gf on pikmin 3 delux, no mode can truly top it to this day
Bingo battle is still goated
It's good, but it suffers from a lack of being Bingo Battle.
Hoping they fix that in a future update
I saw another pretty wierd edit on the wiki once, i wonder if that's r/pikmin insanity leaking over
might just be coincidence but you friend sounded a lot like Jeff (SpaceHamster)
The Pikmin 2 slander has been out of control lately. And it's almost always from Pikmin 3 fans who feel the need to roast Pikmin 2 in order to make their own game seem good.
I’m so sorry as a Pikmin 3 fan.
No need to apologize. I'm a fan of Pikmin 3 too and I think this discourse is more hilarious than anything. Pikmin 2 is a very polarizing game but for all its faults, it's still my favorite in the series.
No way its the piktuber!!!!
Hey silok hawk im making a pikmin drawing series called Pikmin PTSD and it featuring every single enemy but what do you recommend im already working on the first episode also im gonna do this for different Pikmin RUclipsrs don shack suggested a man at legs foe the first episode what enemy do you recommend?
0:56 "I'm SiloCock"
I’m here for the wiki drama
I played the pikmin 2 player battle mode with my little brother once. I beat him by a lot, and he refuses to play with me again
me when the marble goes
