I have to point out the single most infamous play I was victim to, there was an enemy pikmin on a crystal, and I chose to use a bomb instead to avoid losing my rock pikmin (the rare type of the map), so I throw the bomb, and in that exact moment, my sister uses the warp powerup, and warps me DIRECTLY ONTO THE BOMB ROCK, annihilating my entire squad in an instant. I still have that clip on my switch
20:23 The half health thing also applies to all the mission mode levels. From what I remember, the reason it is like this is because normal mode is used as the difficulty mode for Pikmin 3 Deluxe's side modes rather than hard mode, which the difficulty most similar to the original Pikmin 3 on the Wii U.
With the boulders 15:00, since you only play in person, I had the house rule of count down from 3 to boulders. Made it balanced. Sucks we had to do that but allowed much more enjoyment from the game
So glad to see Bingo Battle getting more recognition. I heard so many people gush about it in such a high regard and at first I just thought "oh, it's probably just a neat little extra mode that can be kinda fun once or twice but nothing more" and really didn't get WHY people loved it that much, I mean it was just Bingo what's so special about it, i never tried it at the time. But eventually a couple months back i did with a friend, and oh my god it was genuinely some of the most chaotic fun I've ever had on a game, it was so fucking unhinged The absolute shock and dread when either of us would get the falling rocks item, seeing their entire squad get crushed into a puddle or EXPLODE if any of the pikmin were holding bomb rocks, or teleporting them in front of an enemy Also since We played it on an emulator (We live on opposite continents so we had to) for some reason the Mr President head item would just fucking crash the game after the stupid spinning animation and it was so stupidly funny, this whole mode in general was way more frantic than i thought it would be. Scheming some stupid traps and then seeing it ACTUALLY work against all odds and expectations while hearing the screams of your opponents has to be the most cathartic thing in any video game ever. 10/10 Would recommend to anyone who can play it, I was so disappointed seeing it wasn't in Pikmin 4 and realizing that the multiplayer content was so lacking, Pikmin 3 Extra modes were so fun and packed in content they each felt like a whole new game, I really hope we get some more of that as DLC to fix this later down the line, people are definitely down for more Pikmin.
People who have only played 4's battle and don’t think the rock item is a big deal... ...play Bingo Battle before you say anything because the item pretty much doesn’t even kill pikmin in 4.
This video absolutely does this hidden gem of a gamemode justice! As someone who's even played this mode in a semi-competitive tournament I can say with absolute certainty that this is THE MOST thorough review I've seen of Bingo Battle. Keep up the great work!
My friends and I have this competition we do on weekends we call either "All in 3s" or simply "Triple 3". Basically, one of us, fights the other, in 3 battles, in each games battle mode (Pikmin 2, 3, and 4). So we play each battle mode, 3 times per game, or a total of 9 times, with the referee, me, if I'm not participating, will choose a stage, then a second, then a third. Then we head to the next game and do the same thing, who ever wins 2/3 will be the victor of set 1, and set 2 will begin with 2 new players. Same thing with set 1, goes for set 2. Basically, a tournament. Then the winner of set 1, and winner of set 2 battle each other with 1 battle per game, or a total of 3 overall, with me picking the hardest, most bullshitty stage there is. The Ultimate Winner is given a headstart for any more battle modes, after the tournament, as their reward. It's pretty fun! And it's funny being the referee, choosing a stage, then seeing the players struggle due to my choice!...wait...am I...the bad guy...?! (With the set 3, the final set, one of the players will start with 1 pikmin. The one instance where settings are in fact changed, in all the other cases, settings stay the same)
bingo races are gameplay concept that really should see more experimentation. they're more common than you might think ( relatively speaking ), but _not_ as official modes; in fact, pikmin 3 is the only time i've seen them implemented into the game itself, rather than being a special ruleset for speedrunners to race to. which also makes pikmin 3 the only time where i've seen the ability to interfere with an opponent's progress in a way that isn't just sniping a space before they can, since. y'know. the racers are actually in the same game, instead of chasing the same goals in their own completely separate singleplayer game instance. even without that distinction, though, i feel like bingo races would be one of the most accessible speedrunning rulesets if not for the reliance on external tools, since it forces routing to be done on the fly ( meaning it rewards general game knowledge, rather than routes specific to speedruns ) and is a direct competition between players, rather than a monolithic leaderboard pitting you against the game's most devoted players they're really cool, in other words
The boulders were so broken that when my brother or I got one, we alerted each other, disbanded our pikmin and walked far enough away before activating it.
Bingo Battle is genuinely really fun and I agree with a lot of what you said in this video. Honestly, I'm more bothered by the lack of an item select than the lack of a layout select, because if I could disable that dumb boulder item, I would. Wish there was a toggle for harder enemies, too. Having two Pikmin types per map is awesome, and despite the many AI issues you brought up like the fight cloud they can form sometimes (and the fact that pinks straight up don't work sometimes) I'm still able to have a lot of fun directing my squad against my opponent when the time comes to inevitably try stealing the last item they need to get a bingo. Great video.
If your having trouble with the boulders then here is a tip: always look at your opponents item because when they use the boulders it has a slight delay and before the boulders come dispatch your squad of pikmin so the boulders only attack you and your pikmin are safe.
You're thinking of Pikmin 4. In 3 the boulders are almost instantaneous. Given how much latency your TV has, you might not even be able to roll in time depending on where they fall. Even then, looking at the other person's screen is basically a given. Although you can essentially hold the other player hostage if you have boulders, because then they need to always make sure they don't have many pikmin on them to minimize losses.
At 16:00 before the zoom in, you can see the boulder icon is still on my friend's roulette (in 3 the square flashing yellow means you just hit the button) despite already falling on my screen, that's how immediate they are.
The Lucky Marble also start spawning into the map at a quick rate once one or both players can no longer get a Bingo, this is to prevent stalemates and creates a sort of sudden death situation as both players likely have multiple nearly completed lines
it also means that you can always stay in the game, because if you get one of your enemies's diagonals and block their other diagonal, they no longer have a Bingo
24:05 oh my god me and my friend played 100 games together without stopping and we ended at 50/50, it was so fucking fun despite all the obvious flaws, we got some really good clips from it too, i think i even have the final 50/50 saved somwhere still
15:26 Except me. I LOVE the boulders. How to deal with the boulders: • Check your opponent's side of the screen often. Screen cheating is not cheating, it's an essential tool. • Use the dodge whistle to get out of the way the moment you see a boulder shadow. How to dunk on someone with the boulder: • Wait for a moment when the other player is occupied like fighting an enemy or plucking Pikmin. I personally like to wait until they just stopped moving which is when all their Pikmin bunch up. • Use it just as the other player gets a bomb rock or mine in their posession. It wastes their explosion and often takes out some of their pikmin too.
12:15 you can’t throw the pikmin up the slope because they are too far behind the captain. Still annoying though just waiting for the pikmin to climb the slope
Can’t wait to see you talk about 4, despite it being the most simple, it has the most amount of pre battle customization and the new mechanics and type changes do create a lot stuff you can do to be encouraged to replay even after you play for a while, which it may be the most fair battle mode thanks to the unbiased objective
FACTS!!!! Me and my brother love playing bingo battle together! A stupid amount of inside jokes we made have come from rounds of bingo battle and it will probably be the only reason our wii u wont collect too much dust
Surprised they didn’t add a 3 captain mode with alph britanny and charlie as player 1 and olimar louie and the president as player 2. I doubt anyone would have used it, but it would have been nice.
I wanna thank you for showing this game to me, genuinely. I had this one game where i was trying to steal a marble so they didn't win, and all of my pikmin fricking dissapeared. So funny
I play bingo battle with my brother, but quit because it was too frustrating that I would put in all the work killing a big enemy, then he comes in and jacks my shit and kills me when I'm too weak from battling that big enemy.
Glad to finally see someone praising this game mode which it absolutely deserved. Such a shame they didn't bring it back for Pikmin 4. For what little gameplay I have seen of Dandoori battle seems like a definite step back. Imagine if they just made an upgraded version of Bingo Battle that just irons out the janky ass Pikmin fighting mechanics. That would've been amazing.
Yo FINALLY someone talks about this gamemode I have put hours and hours into battling my mom in this and we have had so much fun and I haven't seen it get the praise it deserves on the internet
My brother and I banned Rockstorm, its just too busted and has little counterplay. Since you cant turn specific items off (because Nintendo hates options) we'd have a gentleman's agreement to call out when we got the item so the other player could quickly disband their squad to make it mostly harmless.
Hey, as a fellow pikmin youtuber myself, I just want to say some things. First of all, amazing to see pikmin being well treated by a big channel like yours. As I'm sure you know, we aren't that popular lol. Second of all, I really like your videos. It's clear you put a lot of effort into your videos, I can't even imagine how long it takes to make them. I especially like your pikmin (obviously), wii tanks, and mario videos. Third of all, your fan base really appreciates you. I know that as you grow to you feel less and less connected to your audience, but I just want to know not only do I appreciate your content, I appreciate you as a person as well. Thanks for taking time out of your day! -pikminfan123
I got Very shocked when my friend that has never played pikmin before was able to beat me on his First try,but to be Frank,It was Also my First time...playing bingo battle that is.
Nice! Bingo battle is certainly more complex than pikmin 2 battle mode, with all the strategy involving the other player's card...They really put a lot of efforts on the maps, taking into account that the main adventure has like only 5 big levels... Sadly pikmin is not easy for everyone, so i couldn't enjoy it as much as i wanted...
I remember playing jigsaw castle with a friend and we made rules that the person on the ground has to get the macaroon, and the person in the castle has to fill out their bingo board. It was really interesting and we played it a lot.
On the topic of throwing your captains around 4:00. It had one use in my game, if you throw a captain at newly grown sprouts they'll immediately start to pluck them
It makes me SO happy that somebody understands how peak Bingo Battle is, there's no other multiplayer game like it, it's absolutely wonderful. I have played Bingo Battle with TWO different people in the last 11 years, nobody else had ever even played ANY Pikmin game. It's criminally underrated and I hope more people try it after watching this! 💖💖
I bought pikmin around January because of this video and convinced a friend to try bingo battle with me. I've now played Bingo Battle more than the rest of the pikmin franchise combined
In my opinion the ideal competitive Pikmin experience would be Pikmin 3's Bingo Battle with Pikmin 4's Pikmin AI and Pikmin 2's level generation with caves from Pikmin 4's main game. If you could combine the aspects of Pikmin 2's 2-Player Battle, Pikmin 3's Bingo Battle, and Pikmin 4's Dandori Battle to create the ultimate competitive Pikmin experience, how would you combine them?
I'd say the themes in Pikmin 3's Bingo Battle were much better than the ones in Pikmin 4's Dandori Battles. Honestly Dandori Battles were super lacking on the map front. They felt a lot more varied and had way more available as options. Pikmin 4's AI, Pikmin 2's random generation, Pikmin 3's Bingo Board and level designs and base layouts.
Agreed on the Dandori Battle themes being lackluster. Apologies for my words being unclear, I edited the original message. But, as far as caves based on Pikmin 3's Bingo Battle stages? Yeah, could definitely be cool!
I honestly like the all marble maps, because every marble feeps like it could be the last and you have to consistently perform well to get the highest number of chances to win
when i used to play with friends or siblings, I would often have the rule where you tell the other person when you have boulders, just because it's SUCH a devastating ability on your opponent to just use out of the blue.
i have played bingo battle TWICE. the first time i played a match was with a friend after we beat story mode together and they didnt speak to me for an hour after i beat them, the second time another friend played with me and i beat them on every stage.
Great video, was too distracted by all the splatoon music. Like seriously it’s so out of left field. Not that I’m complaining, splatoon music is a bop.
Speaking of the Medusal Slurker's name... It bothers the shit out of me that it has Medusa in its name, is first found with rock Pikmin in its stomach... but it DOESN'T turn Pikmin into Rock Pikmin.
The rock item does have a counter just don’t have all of your Pikmin on you at once in bingo battle you can lose so many Pikmin in so many ways I like to keep at least 5 in the ground to rebuild at just in case
This mode is special since I've been playing it with my dad ever since the game came out. Is the most fun I've had on the WiiU which makes me hail Pikmin 3 as the best game of the console and one of the best games of all time. Plus my dad is the best at this game, thus he is noneother than the legendary entity known as the King Pikmin.
I absolutely LOVE Bingo Battle and wish there was an online mode. They didn't even make an online for Dandori (which is far inferior to Bingo Battle). I miss Bingo Battle so much!
I just realized that the rock item would probably be not as bullshit if you could swarm! Not that I don't like charge, in fact in a lot of scenarios I prefer it as it's quicker and simpler and does the same thing mostly! But if they added it just in Bingo battle the rock would be less bullshit!
Swarm really wouldn't have made much of a difference. That being said, if we had the dodge whistle from single-player and mission mode, that would be huge for avoiding boulders.
Best way to dodge rocks is to use the didge whistle, just press sideways om the D-pad and you'll roll out of range. the boulders are still broken, but its more fair.
One summer my mom and I would play every night, and I started out easy and slowly ramped up the difficulty as she got better(but a lot of the times I threw by letting her steal my pellet and pretending not to notice) she only found out that I was doing that when she discovered what the return macaroon back to base item did😭
My friend an I used to have a rule, that once one gets a rock item form a cherry, the opponent would release their pikmin and go away from then, then he gets hit with the rocks, since they were just annoying
When I played the Wii U version, the boulders never did much. Haven't got a chance to play it on switch, but perhaps the boulders being broken is partially because of the pikmin being forced to stay a certain distance from the captain.
the most effective way to doge the boulders(in my experience I could be wrong) is to hide under the onion, does this work perfectly? no, but it will save some of your pikmin.
Yo I can't help but notice how much Splatoon music is in this video (my dumbass listens to those soundtracks too often and now i recognize it immediately)
The thing with not allowing pikmin throws whill going up a slope is actually intentional, as the pikmin are too far for your captain to reach. edit: another thing; the lucky marble will start randomly appearing after a long enough amount of time. edit 2: the only safe spot from the rocks is under a ceiling lmao
I wonder how a match would be if you could increase the size of the bingo board to 5x5 or even 6x6. AT least no one could get an easy win from having everything nearby.

Why won’t you ever be able to play this?

YOOO WE DID THE SAME THING
Same
Yo my brother and I do the same thing, gives you a chance to switch over to another captain that may have less or no Pikmin
Me and my sister didn't do this at all 😂, we waited for the perfect moment to massacre eachothers squad.
They should implement that if the boulders return in a later title. Maybe a few seconds of warning sirens.
I wish so badly that Pikmin 3 Deluxe had online Bingo Battle
I love Bingo Battle, and when some pikmin you through at an enemy decides to take the longest possible route back to your onion it’s hilarious
Very cool Webber Don't Starve

Yeah, Bingo Battle is insanely fun. I really wish it could have made a return in Pikmin 4! One of the most underrated multiplayer modes I've played.
I honestly like the all marble maps, because every marble feeps like it could be the last and you have to consistently perform well to get the highest number of chances to win
Man I can’t wait for that Wave 6 Video!!!🥳
when i used to play with friends or siblings, I would often have the rule where you tell the other person when you have boulders, just because it's SUCH a devastating ability on your opponent to just use out of the blue.
I never realized jigsaw castle was so lopsided balance wise, which is a shame because it was by far my favorite map from the mode!
completely unrelated, but love the splatoon 3 music you put in the background lmao
My biggest problem with Bingo is that you need friends to play it
12:51 one time when the bulborb did a shake right when it died it some how shook itself off and landed on a pipe out of reach so no one could get it
idk I actually kinda like the broken boulder item haha it just adds this chaotic element of unpredictability to the game
I've literally never played pikmin but still watch all these videos Iol
i have played bingo battle TWICE. the first time i played a match was with a friend after we beat story mode together and they didnt speak to me for an hour after i beat them, the second time another friend played with me and i beat them on every stage.
Great video, was too distracted by all the splatoon music. Like seriously it’s so out of left field. Not that I’m complaining, splatoon music is a bop.
Speaking of the Medusal Slurker's name...
It bothers the shit out of me that it has Medusa in its name, is first found with rock Pikmin in its stomach... but it DOESN'T turn Pikmin into Rock Pikmin.
i think its called Medusal Slurker beacause Medusa is Jellyfish in spanish, and it looks like a jellyfish
The only good way to dodge boulders is hiding under the onion, but you can still lose up to around 20 Pikmin with this strategy.
My first experience with Bingo Battle was an hour straight of my sibling pulling Boulders and causing me pikmin extinctions.
I am still hesitant to give it another go
Great Video Im so hyped for the pikmin 4 Video
i used to play this by myself and it surprisingly made really great memories
@@Robbie_Haruna YES!!!
Cant wait for wave 6 vid!
I remember playing the wii u bingo battle with my friend who had never heard of pikmin and he said it was super fun
Best way to dodge rocks is to use the didge whistle, just press sideways om the D-pad and you'll roll out of range. the boulders are still broken, but its more fair.
One summer my mom and I would play every night, and I started out easy and slowly ramped up the difficulty as she got better(but a lot of the times I threw by letting her steal my pellet and pretending not to notice) she only found out that I was doing that when she discovered what the return macaroon back to base item did😭
We stand the staring bulborb in the thumbnail
My friend an I used to have a rule, that once one gets a rock item form a cherry, the opponent would release their pikmin and go away from then, then he gets hit with the rocks, since they were just annoying
When I played the Wii U version, the boulders never did much. Haven't got a chance to play it on switch, but perhaps the boulders being broken is partially because of the pikmin being forced to stay a certain distance from the captain.
It really is peak though, been playing this for years
the most effective way to doge the boulders(in my experience I could be wrong) is to hide under the onion, does this work perfectly? no, but it will save some of your pikmin.
It is usually safe, but a sidehit from a boulder can still nuke your team. Being realistic, rhe majn misplay js Dismiss and run
@@furiouscorgi6614 yeah but that can take too much time, its still very effective though.
@@Luke_the_goomba I forgor you can't Quick map Dismiss to dpad in 3
I never had the ability to play the bingo battle with others, but couldn't you just use the dogde whistle?
I found the front facing bulborb in the thumbnail
pvp and pikmin mixed a bit to well for my expectation
JUMPSCARE d by front facing bulb orb in the thumbnail
My older sister always get mad when I try to fight her Pikmin, same with Pikmin 4.
And also the items (especifically the boulder one or teleport).
Yo I can't help but notice how much Splatoon music is in this video (my dumbass listens to those soundtracks too often and now i recognize it immediately)
You get it
Silok hawk season 3 never gonna die
12:20 i think the reason why you couldnt throw them up that slope is cus they couldnt catch up with you
I want a game with is just Bingo Battle it's so good. I have so many memories with it.
I want to play with my brother just to see him rage at the rain of rocks. Lmao
Pikmin 3's fruit makes me want to gorge on fruit.
I wish they would bring it back in Pikmin 4.
Dandori Bingo!
This vid needs more then 200 comments bro
i wish i had someone to play it with again
Image how amazing it would be to have online feature
I always try to dodge boulders by dismissing my Pikmin and moving.
20:25 thanks a lot Deluxe!
I really should pick up Pikmin 3 one of these days...
If games take too long the golden marbles start to spawn around the map
Also you forgot to mention the roulette shuffle
What I do with the boulders is I try to dodge it with the dodge whistle, sometimes it actually works😮
I love pikmin bingo mode! I’ve literally never lost at it lol
if you are wondering how its because I didn’t play against very skilled opponents
And they also didn’t want to play with me much because I won every time
i wish that the 2v2 could have a 4 player option cause that would be so cool
I wonder how a match would be if you could increase the size of the bingo board to 5x5 or even 6x6. AT least no one could get an easy win from having everything nearby.
