Shoutout to "PressA!" for not only helping me give the Pikmin 1 run some closure, but also for provoking me into doing this run as well. If you missed a previous piece of Backlogs merch, don't worry - they're here for a not-limited time only : www.bonfire.com/store/the-backlogs-merch/
I do ask did you ever use the Wiis versions ability to rewind to prior days in Pikmin 1 to improve where you messed up in said days? Or did you just do a whole new run with newfound knowledge.
Btw if your wondering what those are at 34:37 that are dropping TONS of nectar and sprays those are Uja Dani or Swarm Mites they only appear in the Wishful Wilds on Day 31 and every 30 days after basically Day 31, 61, 91, and so on. You just so happened to arrive at Wishful Wilds on Day 31, its so rare in fact because of the very specific days you have to be at the Wishful Wilds to get them and take advantage of them many don't even know they exist. And if you exit and re-enter a cave they respawn them in other words those days are also essentially a prime time to grind out sprays here.
If I ever start a youtube channel, can you have a fight with me? XD I found press A and you separately. Fun to see both sides of a buddy rivalry. Makes good content.

Lemon, I was baptized in the fires of Pikmin 2’s VS mode. Every night before I did my homework my mom would make me play until I beat her. It would go on for hours, sometimes days. I hope you know what you’re getting yourself into.
32:54 The most horrifying creature in Pikmin 2 is the Man-at-Legs, a relative of the Beady Long Legs. For unknown reasons, advanced machinery seeks these gentle creatures out and forcibly fuses with them. The machinery then uses heat from the spider's vital organs to power itself and slowly takes control over the spider until the host loses all control. This is not conjecture, this was originally suggested by Olimar's in-game notes on the creature in the Pikoledia and later confirmed by Nintendo on Pikmin Garden. E for Everyone, folks. Also, if Lemon sees this, the Wii Remote issue is due to your distance from the sensor. The remotes use infrared light to detect the remotes position. Too close and the light comes in too big/sluggish. Too far away and it comes in too small/jittery. I believe the proper distance is 5 feet away from the sensor.
reminds me of something i read on an old book: with the old Nintendo "light guns", the Brightness setting on your TV is important. too dark and you can't hit anything, too bright and any shot counts as a hit.
Imagining the Pikmin acting like Space Marines makes them incredibly entertaining. The first time we see them again i like to imagine theyre purging the wildlife will shouting "For the Emporer!" At the top of their lungs, thats what the little "woo" sounds are.
The Doomsday Apparatus is such a troll item. The 1,000 weight combined with the 1kg text implies that each pikmin can comfortably carry one gram with purples able to carry ten grams. However, the Nutrient Silo has roughly 340 grams of deliciousness inside the container and only takes 15 pikmin to carry, so roughly 22.6 grams per typical pikmin. It's almost like Nintendo is laughing at us for wanting to quantify pikmin power levels!
Let me try something more random: what if, each ball weighs 1 kg, so the whole dumbell weighs around 2250 grs.? It's either that or, as you say, it's just a way of poking fun at the players for overthinking, in a soft way, about the game's lore.
Not sure if it was mentioned yet but at 34:36, you encountered a rare enemy known as Ujadani. They are tiny creatures that release nectar and spray upon death. They only appear in the Wistful Wild on day 31 then will appear every 30 days after
God those things are weird. They don't even have a piklopedia entry, so all you get on their existence is their really unique in-game function and whatever crackpot theories people can come up with online. Hell, I think their name came from the name of their files, hence why it sounds very japanese.
I love that the challenge running community is so incredibly supportive, always highlighting and working together to overcome regardless of channel size or experience. Genuinely the most positive community I've ever come across
18:17 The dog in the Time Capsule is actually a Shetland Sheepdog! I don't think it's a picture of one of the developers dogs directly, because it's actually a cat in the Japanese version, but the Pikmin wiki states it could have been changed as a reference to a dog Shigeru Miyamoto had in 2001 named Pikku, which sounds similar to Pikmin.
28:00 - The submerged castle will only let blue pikmin enter it, but there are actually Purple candypop buds in the cave! If you were to pull some more out-of-bounds shenanigans to unlock the blue onion, you could go in there with 10 blues, skip to the last floor where the purple flowers are, and defeat the boss for 1 more treasure.
Beautiful video, the game is a masterpiece and the videi itself was fun, but seeing the "Satoru Iwata" at 40:12 with that sweet music is heartbreaking, I miss that man to this day, thanks again for having people to see more of his gems, thank you Lemon 🍋💞❤
I like how, with the 3 Yellow-only Pikmin 1 challenge videos between you and Press A, you guys ended up with all 3 endings: the bad ending (since you failed your first attempt), the normal ending (since Press A got 29 out of 30 treasures), and the 100%-complete ending (in this video).
Nice challenge dude! Btw you could access Hole of Heroes on Wistful wild the same way you climbed the ledge leading to the Snagret hole, by using a chrysanthemum to bump you
Having recently watched MatPat's final game theory video, it's so heartwarming to see what he said in action. You and PressA! are going further by collaborating instead of fighting to diminish the other. Incredible sense of community, and incredible video!!
Had you recommended to me randomly a couple months ago, and since then have been addicted to watching these challenge runs you do! Keep it up, love the quality entertainment you've been providing us 👌
Theres a game called Overlord, that plays quite a bit like Pikmin but not quite, and i think its pretty fun not sure what challenge runs you could do, perhaps a magic only run or something but, yeah give it a look!
when i saw Press A's video showing how to get the part "confused" and just come back next day i audibly groaned for lemon's sake, since he already got most if not all of the parts in that position already and didnt know to go back again lol
This was such a great video, I watched both of you before the yellow pikmin runs and these two follow ups were better than I was even expecting! Congrats on getting all 30, you and Ty spent so long to make it come true!!
Watching you do challenges on old Nintendo games is such a weird comfort food of mine, but it is comfort food nonetheless. Thank you for making a continuation of your first Pikmin video, you're a really enjoyable content creator to watch.
Can’t wait for the versus match between you and PressA, I’d definitely love a coop challenge run of you two. Whether it be something like gears of war, borderlands or as outlandish as Skyrim multiplayer
Like i said on PressA!'s Video: I really love this cooperation of you two. I found the PressA! Channel due to the algorithm working for once. I got the video in my recommended after watching your yellows only run. and let me tell you I clicked it instantly. Seeing how the run could have ended for you... Well let me tell you PressA! Had a new sub after the end if the vid. Thanks for the video and the battle in Pikmin 2!
I found both your channels recently through my yt algorithm giving me pikmin contents, and this totally-real-definitely-not-fake rivalry you both have has made for a series of very fun watches. Hope to see more collabs between you two in the future :)
I like that you used the shopping music from ultra kill in the end it’s really nice! And the challenge run is very enjoyable and good job on that too mr. Lemon
I love this friendly competition you got going with pressa and I'm so happy that you're doing Pikmin challenges! Pikmin 2 still holds a special place in my heart and seeing you do challenge runs with it is awesome:)
Two tiny nitpicks that bugged me a lot more than they should have: One, you said that "you might have noticed that the treasures moved" when the treasures did not, in fact, move at all. The Emergence Cave is the only cave that is not randomly generated. Second, you said that there was a completely buried treasure inside of the Hole of Beasts, which is impossible. Buried treasures are not introduced until you reach the White Flower Garden. You just straight up missed a treasure, quietly went back to collect it later, and hoped that nobody would notice lol. (It was the Game & Watch machine at 28:08.) It's no big deal, though. The actual run itself was flawless and the tiny mistakes you made in your commentary don't really matter because they ultimately did a good job of explaining the game's mechanics, even if they were explained a tiny bit earlier than they were actually introduced. Great video!
This video and PressA's has inspired me to do my own run of this. Given their speed, ability to tackle things neither of you could, and getting completely buried treasures, Im going to see how much of the game is beatable with WHITE pikmin. Ill post an update when ive gotten everything I feasibly can
11:53 I'm glad they changed the sound to a more gentle beep in 4. Considering the challenges in that game, having a gauge with the original sound would turn them into nightmares.
Ah yes, a prim & proper Pikmin 2 playthrough preoccupied with those pernicious & precocious Purple Pikmin people, provoked by that presumptuous, playful Press A's previous presentation of their positively prime permutation of the past Pikmin playthrough, pointedly not pertaining to these peculiar periwinkle plant personas A particularly precarious path awaits our passionate prerecorded protagonist, Perhaps?
Things like this are really fun to watch. . . . And then you find vids where there are guys that beat Pikmin 1 in under 20 days without using pikmin, outside of the 1 per onion freebie the game gives, to do anything besides collect ship parts once the parts are *_already in the base._* It is insane how far peopel have pushed these games and the understanding of the mechanics that they had to have to pull it off.
34:36; a hidden “boss” which the more of the little guys you kill the more nectar, purple and red spicy spray you get, oh, and every time a Pikmin kills one, they are poisoned lol. It only happens every 30 days, achievable on 31 and every so forth.
Welllllll not really, if ur trying to avoid killing any it becomes balls hard trying to clear each dungeon with all 100 , I've tried, it takes actually planning loll but on the flip side u are also correct 🎉🎉🎉
Quick note regarding crushing small enemies as mentioned early in the pikmin 2 section. That is not a feature exclusive to purple pikmin, you can 'crush' crushable enemies just fine with any pikmin type so long as you hit them right, it's just easier with purple pikmin since they have a bit of homing to their ground pound attack.
Fun Fact: Ultra Spicy Sprays actually make Purple Pikmin WEAKER! How the Spicy Spray works is that it doesn't just add +X damage, but sets all Pikmin's damage to a certain amount which just so happens to be less than Purple Pikmins' attack power. Also, sprayed Pikmin will for some reason die twice as fast from drowning, burning, and poisoning. Spray also only makes all effected Pikmin carry at the speed they would if they are flowers. So all in all, Spicy Sprays do either nothing, or are an active detriment to Purple Pikmin in EVERYTHING except movement speed for 40 seconds.
Maybe the animation that plays when Pikmin are being hurt by hazards only kills them once the animation finishes. so when the spicy spray speeds up the animation, the Pikmin die quicker
Well, purple pikmin aren't weaker, they are a little bit stronger. Purple pikmin deal 20 damage, and sprays sets it to 10, but animation speed (aka attack speed) is doubled
I think that, once done with Pikmin, lemon would love Overlord, and its color-sorted Minions. Plus, the game itself would allow for some rather funny narrative that could build around the main story.
Another excellent video! Thanks for all the hours of entertainment. The subnautica music near the end got me thinking about challenge ideas for that game. Which is a great excuse to dive back into the waters of 4546b. Before that though gonna go watch press a’s video see how he tackled the challenge.
Fantastic news about the Time Capsule! As per the Pikmin wiki: "The dog, named "Gon-chan", belongs to an unnamed graphic designer for Pikmin 2. In the Japanese version, the Time Capsule instead contains a picture of Wataru Yamaguchi's cat, "Chi-chan"."
I would like to imagine that these are the next generation of yellows that have passed down the knowledge that the original Olimar made sure to share his knowledge with, thus ensuring that the next survivor would have the best yellow help he could have.
Pikmin was my most favorite childhood game. And when pikmin 2 came out and delivered an EXCELLENT SEQUEL, I replayed it 100% probably over a dozen times! I had at least 500 purple pikmin and found how many purple pikmin per day I could get per dungeon. Some dungeons eventually rid their purple flowers. Same with white pikmin. I had at least 500 of each and 1000's of blue because they were my favorite. Pikmin 2 actually counts over 1000. Right? I think so it's been many years. My mom worked at RiverGate Emergency Animal Client in Nashville Tennessee by the quad skate arena and dentist where I got my braces. I played after school at her work 7am-7pm and had sooo much fun playing pikmin. Some if my favorite memories yet I used to get so freaking bored. I don't miss that haha
Worth noting that the trick to open the Valley of Repose gate on Day 1 also requires you to do a different exploit, which is so difficult that only one person is known to be able to do it. Also that there's a mum bump to reach the Hole of Heroes.
Only part-way through, but I hope Lemon knows that you don't actually need Pikmin physically near you to bring them into a cave. Aside from, uh, that one cave, if they're technically in your squad when you interact with the entrance, they can come with you.
2 content creators basically doubling the amount of content they can make by challenging each other is great for all involved. I get more videos to watch, and both of you get ad revenue
at 12:03 - there aren't underground treasures in the first cave of awakening wood...the one where empress bulblax is the boss. Like you definitely don't have to loop back around to complete it in a normal playthrough...
Right?! I was seriously surprised when he said this being an avid Pikmin 2 enjoyer. The treasure he missed was the dream architect btw which is just inside a red bulborb on the 4th sublevel.

"The dog, named "Gon-chan", belongs to an unnamed graphic designer for Pikmin 2. In the Japanese version, the Time Capsule instead contains a picture of Wataru Yamaguchi's cat, "Chi-chan"."
I do appreciate the Helldivers 2 OST at the end there Lemon, caught me by surprise, I thought my game was still open
A DK64 AND Futurama reference in one video? Lemon you spoil us!
5:52 D U R A C E L L. B A T T E R Y.
Such a funny start, lost it when the part teleported so good
I would like to imagine that these are the next generation of yellows that have passed down the knowledge that the original Olimar made sure to share his knowledge with, thus ensuring that the next survivor would have the best yellow help he could have.
To clarify, i mean the like 5 minute intro bit where the first game gets a rerun.
It’s like he knows it’s a Saturday night, I’ve got whiskey and time to relax.
20:22; the fact I am eating a hot dog while watching...
7:24 They’re the second member of the Pikmin crew! HUH!
I'd like to see a bloopers reel of every time Lemon messed up saying "purple pikmin" while narrating. Seems like quite the tounge twister
13:03 Press A is The Unknown! He lives in the walls!
Woooooo! It’s a backlogs day! Immediately 11/10
Lemon: "He's in the walls....HE'S IN THE GODAMN WALLS!!!"
Lemon thinking I'm not enough of a loser to catch him using the helldivers music during the boss fight is sickening.
Lemon did indeed, "beat that." In his rerun. All pieces claimed.
Proud of you for going back and completing the pikmin 1 challenge.
15:05
"Oh no! Anyway..."
Afraid of the empress? Don't worry I was terrified of the emperor's beady eyestalks when it was in the ground. That and the puffstool
Man I wish the pikmin 1 revisit was its own video.
Also great job with the purples, I watched the livestream before and it felt a bit worse back then.
Love your content, Lemon. It's always such a mood booster
they didn’t give purple pikmin an onion because people would get confused between the names of the red and purple onions 😂
wholesome rivalries for the win! I found press A after lemons first Pikmin video so this is a beautiful outcome.
BRO I SWEAR CULT OF THE LAMB MUSIC IS EVERYWHERE AND I LOVE IT
Watching lemon work out some of the puzzles on stream was great
Worth noting that the trick to open the Valley of Repose gate on Day 1 also requires you to do a different exploit, which is so difficult that only one person is known to be able to do it.
Also that there's a mum bump to reach the Hole of Heroes.
“I lost a loyal bunch of pikmin.”
the reset button on the console:
You could also just hit the restart the day button in the pause menu, or click don't save and continue from last save in the first game
I caught a few minutes of the stream a while ago, and I've been excited ever since!
You make every game you play seem so fun and interesting, thanks for a good time
Yes. Yes you can.
its awesome you went back to complete instead of just leaving it to pressA!
