I like your idea of a light version. I already have desk mounts that i use with my office chair, and when i go for a "pilot seat", it'll be to upgrade the seat, not so much the mounting of my perifials. I really just need the chair and frame, not the hotas mounts, side plate, or shoulder straps.
Last year when I said I had hoped to be working with them on design input, I meant as a consultant and not employee which some guys assumed I was working towards. I love being retired and getting opportunities to volunteer for AVSIM projects. NLR did take our advice on selling sub-components but from a marketing standpoint, they have to draw the line on what's profitable and what doesn't justify the expense of making a change. I understand them and that's why in the free market, we have choice right? Do have a great 2024 my friend!
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP All of that sounds very resonable ;) We'll have to see, modern flight sims are young, and a lot of stuff has happened in the past 5 years. Was thinking about this last night when testing the ButtKicker Gamer Plus mounted on my $800 rig. Combined, the two with BK software upgrade is $1,100 and obviously beyond the reach for some. But then, I started thinking of materials, machining, assembly, packing, distribution, transportation, marketing and all the people that are involved in this process and realize how much of a deal it is to those who can afford it or who are lucky enough to attract them with a RUclips channel. I’m not anyone special and lucky to inquire about the product at the right time and have a big enough following to get attention. In the case of ButtKicker, the amount of DCS coverage is largely absent from RUclips and for me, timing is everything. I will close with this… December 1, 2022 I asked the wife if I could get the Boeing Military Rig for my Christmas present and she said no, $800 is too much and it’s too big for my space. So I asked “what if I get it for free” and she said yes. The clouds disappeared from the sky and I could see the stars and planets aligning just right to get it. Today is January 1, 2024 and the first day of the rest of my life…if anyone has a good feeling something is right for them and they can afford it, I say go all in!
This was one of the setups I've had my eye on. Thanks for the long-term impressions! I'd really love to know what well-recommended setups are out there for people trying to build something that keeps a low profile (space usage) for those of us in more cramped quarters.
I tell ya what, if they dropped the seatbelts or made them optional, dropped the Boeing plates, and sold just the basic Joystick and Throttle mounts for guys that wanted a platform for pedals and seat/controls, it would be perfect at $600, especially when you figure shipping, stocking, and employee costs. Someone with VR or others using their old PC desks like I did, would do well at that price point!
I have my NLR Boeing seat holding up my Winwing Taurus on the left side and I have the MIPs mounted from that center keyboard stand thingy. Crosswind pedals etc. My stick is center mounted but I did have to mod that bracket as it sat too tall. At the time I had the money and it was an easy purchase. Fast forward to now, it has held up great. "$800 Great"??? thats a whole different story.
The durability of the chair cushions is one of the major things I'm wondering about with these products. Sure, they look pretty, but what do they look like after 300 hours? I have a car seat in my simpit rig and after more than 5 years of active use I don't think there's any sign of the foam getting worn. And that's pretty good for a seat I paid 20 euros for at a junkyard. So what I'd need in fact is the rest of the simpit chassis with the pipes, mounts and such. My plywood construction for those is a bit ghetto.
If I'm not mistaken, SimShaker Aviators (which ties into DCS physics) has a paid for integration for ButtKickers. It's not ''native support'' but it works really well
Thanks, yes, that is what I hear from others. ButtKicker is sending me a Gamer Plus model today and they have a plugin now for DCS...just found out today about it...it's Christmas here. Stay tuned for my experience setting it up and thank you again for the feedback. I'm learning because of guys like you!
The price is easily to high for what it is. Plus not trying to be totally negative but with the amount of modifications you've done to it you'd have probably been better just building your own pit to the size and with fitments you require with some aluminium extrusion you'd have a more adaptable pit and it would be easily much cheaper than 800 dollars. You need to get the srs software and the NLR haptic seat pad to get the effects you want rather than a buttkicker. DCS with that software gives you all the haptic feedback you'll need already no need to wait for "better DCS programming" most haptic feedback kit has its own software that takes info from DCS for example and makes the vibrations for landing gear going up and rolling down the runway for example. So I'd look more into that rather than waiting as there's kit available now that will give you all you need. My thoughts on this seat are if you have 800 dollars to buy then just wait Save up another 800 and get a DOF REALITY motion rig for 1600 dollars it won't just give you a motion rig but haptic feedback is built into the software as well. You would need to buy a seat with it though, but just saying save up a bit longer and go full motion pit! Rather than buy that cheap looking rig.
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Not saying it's flimsy as such but it certainly doesn't look as high a quality product that I'd expect for 800 dollars, more 400 mark IMHO of course. I've seen plenty reviews on racing rigs that have similar quality build but are far less expensive. It does have its place and I have seen plenty of good reviews. BUT just like you most of those reviews included the need to alter or adjust the seat to suit thier own personal requirements and as such with so many needing to adjust this product maybe this needs the company to go back and redesign the flexibility of the rig.
@AIRWARFAREGROUP , have yall looked at the Sim Fab DCS Basic setup by chance? Curious if yall had and what your thoughts are about it as I’m in the process of trying to pick one of these sim pits.
It's worth it to me and it wasn't that comfortable at first if you sat past two hours, but if you get up and move around and maybe put a little bit of a cushion under your seat cover, it works just fine. I liked it. I'm about to change out to something new stay tuned. Danka
I'm wondering how you get into the chair. I just got this flight chair and can't figure out how to comfortably get in amd out of the chair. Ive already cut my right leg pretty bad on the chair slide mount. But i do have the center stick so the cross member is in the way to properly step in.
Starting with the seat slid all the way back. I used to step in with my left leg sit down and then pull my right leg up with my hand around my side mount and put my foot in and then I'd slide the heat up and touch the pedals.
I really like mine but they could be less expensive, $650 - $700 and they also offer payments like Klarna, and Affirm to help break the payments up. I watch your content all the time, keep up the good work.
Agreed. It could be economized with the a bit of proactively thinking about us poor airmen. I was just thinking about my first paycheck as a new E-3 forty years ago and it was like $180 every two weeks (take home pay).
I remember those days, when I was Army 1979 1st Infantry division, yeah it was under $200 every two weeks but that money went a long way back then. I had some fun in the PI though.
Long time or Short time GI? My troops later in my career always wondered how I knew so much about STDs and their treatments. I told them that I had to know stuff like that to better take care of my troops!!!
currently in the process of upgrading my simpit. Going with Monstertech mostly due to them actually offering aluminum rigs aimed at flight simmers, though looking at getting the NLR seat over the Monstertech mostly due to price and availability. Would you say it's a comfortable enough option with and without the added padding? Or would you recommend against it?
Good combination with the NLR seat. Let us know if you post pictures online of your new rig when you’re finished. As for comfort, I would recommend you try to get up and stretch every hour or two. Flight simulators and gaming in general can cause health problems and discomfort is a way our bodies tell us to move. 🖖 LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Well, you should be stretching and walking a bit every hour or so of sitting regardless of gaming or not. I'd still want that hour to be comfortable. ;) Though it seems like it would be a good fit, thanks man. Will most likely post the finished rig on the official forums. If you guys have a forum or reddit, I'd gladly join as well.
I would consider a Lazyboy Recliner 😜 for maximum comfort. I considered several non simulator options and only got the NLR version for a review and it ended up working for me.
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP I actually tried that before, it was too comfy, that I ended up asleep, haha. I ended up ordering the NLR seat. Worst case, comfort wise, I can change the cushions.
I agree and sometimes a little pain on your butt is a reminder to get up and move and be healthy. To stay healthy is the game longer right and I don't mean by the hour I mean by the year 😀
If the seat and the angle of it comfy enhoygh for long sessions? With this kind of racing backets I always feel they would feel like 2 planks of wood on your back. And from someone how suffers a bit of scoliosis im wondering if this seat will be a problem
Good question and I like this style of seat for that exact reason. Because this is not contoured like a race car chair which has a limited range of comfort depending upon individual body types, I can relax in it for hours. I did have a mid-year realization about my bottom pad comfort but rectified it with the additional memory foam pad stuffed into the seat. For my own personal health goals, I try to move each hour (my FitBit helps) and I try to take a break every couple of hours or so. I have other duties besides saving the world in DCS ;^) As far as advice on Scoliosis, I’m not qualified to comment but someone suffering should have plenty of options for ergonomic relief and physical therapy.
I am new on flight sim, just played 3-4 weeks with thrustmaster t16000m only. But I feel like I love playing on DCS and will continue to play it. Therefore, I am planning on buying a fight sim cockpit. But due to the limitation of the space in my house. I am thinking on combining both "fight sim" and "use of pc" together. Since I need to combine the normal use of computer at the same space. Would you still recommend the Boeing version or the flight seat pro? Because I feels like the flight seat pro is the same thing of the Boeing version. And you mentioned that it's not comfortable. Or is there any better choice you recommend? Since unlike gaming chair, it don't even have the armrests, which maybe a problem when doing other stuff or playing other games. Thank you
That’s a very good question and comment. Thank you. I use it for both and it is my only PC/flight Sim area. I do about 30% admin work and 70% gaming/sim and it’s fine for me. it really depends on your bodyweight and frame as if you’re a heavy guy over 220 and over 6‘,4“ if you find it uncomfortable after long.
I would also point out that when I reached out to them for a review of the Boeing seat, they didn’t have the flight seat, pro yet. But for people that want to integrate their set up into an existing desk, the pro would be great for that.
I thought the default position of the keyboard (from the pics of the rig on the product page) was on the right side? That's probably where I would put it anyways? My biggest issue with all of these rigs is the comfort of the seat, but really you shouldn't be sitting for more than 2 hours anyways, no matter how old you are. Guys saying they can sit comfortably for 8 hours+ need to get up a lot more and move around. Having said all that, I'd like it to be $100 USD cheaper (it will cost me $1,100 CAD +tax, so $1,221). I like their Flight Seat Pro and Flight Stand, but that's another $400 and it looks to be the exact same seat. I'm sticking with my homebuilt car seat rig for now until the 'perfect' setup comes along 😉
AMEN! Thanks for the input. Yes, sitting is not good for us in the long run. I actually feel my best when backpacking for a month or more straight with a nice luxury hotel stay every 7 days for 2 nights! I'm 60 and slightly overweight and am looking forward to traveling more and sitting much less. They say "Sitting is the new smoking" when it comes to our health. I've seen the impacts of that with family members. Cheers K!
I forgot that this chair costs $800 until you mentioned it, and that price tag is astronomical for what you get. Somebody with a bit of imagination and handiness could make this out of a cheapo gaming chair with ease. That being said, your setup looks wonderful!
It does make it easy to get set up fast and it is fairly comfortable, although not totally for long periods. But you’re right, for half the price in wood or extruded metals you could create your custom rig.
Simshaker for aviators and the HF8 jetseat is what you need pal for haptics for DCS and that's not audio fed like a buttkicker - bin it - it's shit - simple as.. I've just put my NLR seat together (commercial as i preferred the look) and i gotta say it's great for me with the TG MIPS. Thanks for the vid
Does Butt-Kicker make noise in the room and would it resonate through the floor to the kitchen below where my wife is slavishly making dinner??? I don’t want to get in trouble and your solution seems a good way to do that. Thanks for the advice!!
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP depends on your settings. For most of the flying I don't think it'd be a big deal at all. Cannons can vibrate a lot, but you can tune cannons and weapons down in the Buttkicker Hapticonnect settings specifically without losing feedback from turbulence/g-forces. I'd just have her make dinner and then fire the gun until she says its ok. :)
Buttkicker Pro makes a lot of noise, but the plus version not so much. If you are interested in going the buttkicker route, I highly recommend Ushake 6 seatpad from Sim Racing Studios. It works flawlessly in DCS and as it has six built in transducers, it is superior to the HL8 pad in my opinion (I own both). The Ushake 6 is also designed to integrate one buttkicker (easily attached to the Ushake 6 amp). @@AIRWARFAREGROUP
My Buttkicker is vibrating for some reason a lot when parked on the ship. But when you turn towards the Cat launches it quite down. I also have the HF8 Haptic seat pad and that's a game changer. My speed brake is connected to the 2 upper transducers, so it vibrates more and more as you extend the speed brake. My landing gear is connected to the bottom front transducers. So when gear goes up or down you feel it there. The gun is connected to the 4 bottom transducers. Then for high G pulls it gets fed to all 8 transducers. Just awsome. A real game changer for me
Damn, I am thinking about this seat now since they are selling a wheeled, cheaper version of it very close to what you wanted with the "lite" setup with less metal ..... but this issue of padding foam loosing structural integrity on a 600usd chair is concerning. Replacing the foam is like a mandatory MOD. 200usd ikea office chairs dont have such bad quality foam.

It sounds like they throw in an extraneous amount of gizmos to justify the price, and while I don't have one of those, the seat does not in the least, look comfortable,
The problem is that Monstertech is just WAY too expensive - seriously, they are ridiculous. This is a massive bargain in comparison, even as expensive as it is. For the same basic layout with a Monstertech, you're looking at four times the cost, probably more (and for me, a significant shipping cost, compared to zero shipping cost for this). So I went for this, with additional hacking (specifically, the centre mount - they still have no plan for low, center mounted, extended joysticks.)
Used a van seat $35 from my local junkyard mounted to some wood from Lowes $20 and it’s super comfortable.
I actually think this thing is pretty good value.
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP All of that sounds very resonable ;)
We'll have to see, modern flight sims are young, and a lot of stuff has happened in the past 5 years. We'll just have to see what options we get in 2024, which is shaping up to be a very exiting flight sim year.
BTW, Winwing sorta-maybe teased an extrusion rig in their MIP videos, so maybe they will provide an option too ;)
Thanks, and you too!
They do have the pro flight seat. www.amazon.com/Next-Level-Racing-Flight-NLR-S033-PC/dp/B0C5X6L5Q6/ref=asc_df_B0C5X6L5Q6/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=663271582682&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5779303096511536388&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9073445&hvtargid=pla-2253448323997&psc=1&mcid=9b35acd0d92a3856a13b8d9d6a209d3d
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP I saw that one, but its still quite a bit of money and lacks the option to mount pedals. For those money, I might go the DIY route and build something from wood or 4080 aluminium ;)
Perfect description. Did you canter your stick to an angle for your hand reaching from the side with a little twist? That’s perfection there!
I’ve got over 500 hours on mine since putting it into service over 14 months ago and still like new.
Agreed with you on the price consideration, but do you own this seat or know anyone who does? It’s not flimsy.
Good points...gotcha!
@AIRWARFAREGROUP , have yall looked at the Sim Fab DCS Basic setup by chance? Curious if yall had and what your thoughts are about it as I’m in the process of trying to pick one of these sim pits.
Very similar to other options NLR has. Check out their Flight Seat Pro series.

Das sieht echt gut aus
It's worth it to me and it wasn't that comfortable at first if you sat past two hours, but if you get up and move around and maybe put a little bit of a cushion under your seat cover, it works just fine. I liked it. I'm about to change out to something new stay tuned.

Lmao thank god for Penicillin, razor blade. I was 4 years than reserves.@@AIRWARFAREGROUP
Crustaceans??
currently in the process of upgrading my simpit.
I have other duties besides saving the world in DCS ;^)
As far as advice on Scoliosis, I’m not qualified to comment but someone suffering should have plenty of options for ergonomic relief and physical therapy.
Well for sure I would remove any and all Boeing placards 🤣 I've been debating this since I see a lot of reviews about not loving the chair
For me it just makes it easier to vacuum underneath 🤪
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Understood. Thank you for the response
I would also point out that when I reached out to them for a review of the Boeing seat, they didn’t have the flight seat, pro yet. But for people that want to integrate their set up into an existing desk, the pro would be great for that.
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Got it, thanks❤

In short pal - she'll go apeshit. Don't bother with it.@@AIRWARFAREGROUP
The Boeing flight seat pro for a desk set up is a sweet deal. If you're leaving, we can save 5%. Ask me how.
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Well, I found a merchant here in EU that is selling the "Flight Seat Pro Boeing Military Edition" for 581 EUR instead the official 699EUR already as it looks like he cannot get rid of his inventory. Not sure if your sponsored 5% off link would improve that more. :) but thanks for offer.
Yeah, unfortunately my channel discount code only works for US custom. The company recommended I set up an Amazon affiliates to do international sales, but I won't do that if it doesn't guarantee a discount to the customer. We're not here to make money, but we do bring in helps us do giveaways and charitable donations.
It sounds like they throw in an extraneous amount of gizmos to justify the price, and while I don't have one of those, the seat does not in the least, look comfortable,
Exactly! It’s adequate for comfort for my body. But you are right on about it.
I agree!
