The Hapticonnect software is absolute GARBAGE compared to the Simshaker software.

Agreed, I reached out to them two weeks ago and they said that it's not a priority for them. They did tell me something was in the works for haptic improvements but not the details. We'll see.

Oh definitely. There is a payware add on called Simshaker for Aviators Sound module that is amazing. Hapticonnect has like 10 settings or so but the Sound Module has WAY more. It works fine without tuning, but there are so many things you can tweak on it.

Skip the buttkicker software and go straight for SimShaker for Aviators with the pay ware module from Andre. It's fully customizable for every airframe and can support multiple bass shakers etc.

    • @shagrat47
      @shagrat47 5 месяцев назад +5

^This! In addition it supports multiple VibroPads, like Gametrix Jetseat, Realtus, Jetpad etc.
Also you can build your own "Bass -shakers" setup, for a lot cheaper.
A mini-amp for in-car audio, a 12v power supply and one or two bass-shakers that you can even easily place where you prefer.
SimShakerAudio allows for customization of each "rattle"-sound, though default is pretty neat already.
SimShaker for Aviators is my trusted tool for a decade now.

Thanks for the great video. I constructed my own setup and bought the HaptiConnect software. It's early days and they clearly still have a lot of work to do for DCS. In addition to some adjustments simply not working (speedbrake, guns, etc) what they desperately need to add is different configs for different planes. If you dial everything in nicely for an F14B, for example, when you jump in the A10 you have zero feedback. Plane to plane settings need to be completely different. Without this basic feature, I'm left looking at the other software options.

I would look at SIMSHAKER for Aviators. For me, I'm sticking with HaptiConnect as a volunteer developer networking between Guitammer and Eagle Dynamics. We have two former military helicopter pilots in our group that are advising on telemetry data points to capture and put in the software for helicopters. We're also sticking to realistic inputs for jets and props. For me, the Prop aircraft seem to benefit the most with the current version of the DCS Plugin for HaptiConnect.

I purchased the pro version little over a months ago. I figured $50 more, why not. I attached it to my new Next Level Racing flight seat pro, and wow! But, I had to turn it way down, it gets way to violent and rattles everything when pulling hard, low speed g’s. Kinda wish I just bought the plus to tame it down a bit. But that’s not my style. Looking forward to the actual product review in the sim. I have the jetseat simshaker. Too many attached cables coming out just put me off. I hope to get it setup again once I figure a good way to deal all those cables. It was indeed very immersive getting those haptic feedback. The feedback only could be felt on the back and rump. It would be interesting see how the butt kicker differs. I believe the buttkicker shakers the whole gaming chair and this should be closer to the real deal.

      @AIRWARFAREGROUP  5 месяцев назад

👍 Lots of variables to consider when deciding what would be best for you when it comes to haptic feedback if I can share my thoughts.
Next Level Racing sent an HF8 Seat Pad out to us for review and I didn’t think it was for my seat experience immediately after opening the box. I have the NLR Boeing Military seat rig and the pad doesn’t match the seat shape and changed the height of my eyes and the distance from my monitor and controls.
I tested it with sound input but didn’t care to try it with third party software on telemetry input because I knew a bolt-on device would be right for my setup. Check it out: ruclips.net/video/hKsCglTrrsQ/видео.htmlsi=zAZj5PsJ9VCGOlyr

@@AIRWARFAREGROUP good thing is both systems can work combined. Jetseat or HF8, plus buttkickers/shakers. Both systems have cons; you are able to feel from what wing that bomb dropped with a jetseat, because of the left and right placement of the shakers.
However, certain effects are a better fit for a buttkicker, such as flares, afterburner, touchdown...
If the HF8 is too much for your current cockpit, get a jetseat. However, the buying process is much more difficult and expensive. Sometimes, second hand devices show up on ebay or ED sales forum, that´s how I got mine.

Buttkickers are a lot of fun, but after burning though two amplifyers and two of their desk chair transducers, I have found that a $50 Fosi amp and $65-$80 transducer works just as well, and saves some cash. They make a huge difference in games though, and have manually made "buffeting" sound files with big bass in them to help with stall awareness in multiplayer flight sims like Warbirds and Aces High

I've had the Gamer 2 for years, which is an older model no longer made. I've had several issues before they released the HaptiConnect software, all of which seemed to be initially resolved when I switched over. From what I gather, the issues seem to be specific to DCS and they are constantly updating the HaptiConnect software. Although it can be finicky at times, once you fly with it you can't fly without it. I fly in VR and it has become a critical part of the immersion. The most frustrating thing is having to change audio sources between your PC and within DCS. The selections se3m to switch at times when you start up so 8t may take a minute to get it working. With all that being said, if my Gamer 2 stops working, I'd buy the Gamer Plus immediately.
The reason I say it seems DCS specific is because I don't recall having startup issues with Microsoft Flight Simulator and my friends who use it for racing say it's great. I hope this helps.

@dadkins...I think you are onto something there for sure! I'm in a good position to advise BK and DCS at the same time and will work on this. I did an initial setup test flight this morning and found the Chaff and Wing Fold to be unresponsive in all settings tested. Flares work fine and all others seem to be registering well. I'm interested in what others have to say about using BK Plus/Pro models with another software program. I would test it myself, but I want to give HaptiConnect a chance and even get involved in helping to improve it! ~Juice

I saw those too and that made me even more determined to dig into it with this review. I did a test flight today and only got two things that didn't work. Am still dialing it in, but initial opinion is good. I'm going into this test with an open mind like a Test Pilot would. Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) Branch here at the AWG! Cheers!

I was in the process of researching and considering another software product. I was made aware of HaptiConnect during a tech support call when it was first released. Due to the enjoyment that I've had with my Gamer 2, I had to support the company and I purchased the flight pack. I can say it's a day and night difference because I was using a free software program that was difficult to get to work. I'm glad you're reviewing this as my buddies are probably sick of me talking about it! A buddy of mine just purchased the Gamer Plus so I'll be sharing this video with him. Hopefully you'll be able get BK a bit more involved with ED to improve the interaction with DCS. Looking forward to your review. Thanks and good luck!@@AIRWARFAREGROUP

If you could, one thing I'd really be interested in is the cpu usage of the software when you do the final review. As I'm sure you're aware tuning DCS, especially for high settings in VR, can be a 'process'. Even stuff running in the background like RGB lights can effect performance.

    • @AIRWARFAREGROUP

I'll try...I'm not a VR user so I won't be able to gather data points there but I'll look at performance on my resource monitor while engaged. Good question...for my system (See Video Descriptions) I have no impact on performance so far. I locked my FPS at 90 and have not had it drop down below that at all. Will keep an eye out on it though and mention it in a future video.

Not realistically. When you reach the point of stall, typically one wing will stall first and lift is lost on that side in the aircraft rolls to that side. I have been experimenting with g-force though which could lead up to induced stall. CAN A HAPTIC DEVICE HELP YOU MANAGE G-FORCES?

@AIRWARFAREGROUP I just have a week with it, and I have only tried warbirds. But yes , it does help me control G-force and prevent blackout. Before it, I was unable to find the edge of blackout and push the pilot to its limit without blackout. Now Im capable of pushing and base on the vibration I know when to easy the stick.
About stall speed, I was told warbirds do buffeting when to the edge of stalling . In the game, the 109 does have a nose up and down effect. But again, Im not a pilot , my knowledge on it is limited to what I had been told.

DCS is very flexible and MMO is only overrated and overemphasized by RUclips videos. Majority are small groups and solos who have a private server (like us) or do single player mostly. Check out Controlled Pairs Gaming video on what DCS is and Enigma’s video on how DCS is a Museum simulation. I find DCS is best enjoyed with a hearty bank account and a side of unlimited time. 😜

Brent...I can't recommend enough that you download the free Open Beta version from their website. It allows you to buy most items 50% off as a new user. And you can try most modules free for two weeks each. www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/beta/ This will test your system to see if it can handle the load and your patience to see if you can handle the complexity. I served in the US Air Force for 20 years on all types of aircraft systems, became a Private Pilot while I was in and owned my own Cessna, and this comes closest to real flying more than any other software program. So much so, I can't even feel comfortable calling DCS a game.
Here are the five things I didn't have when I started DCS and now I can't fly DCS without them:
      1) Head Tracking or VR
      2) Pedals
      3) Echo One Niner Sound MODs
      4) Haptic Feedback
      5) A Quality PC For Highest Settings
I have spent about $10K or more over the past 9 years or so on DCS. It's my Flight Simulator, Video Game, and Teamwork Medium.

Charles, I just did an iPhone capture test on my device from like 1.5 feet away and have to say, the device makes no noise in first person recording. My iPhone 13 Pro Max has a very sensitive mic too as some people thought my chair squeak was loud and but in person, it's not, just that frequency for some reason is amplified by the iPhone. However, the real transfer of noise is through the floor. I'm on Carpet/Pad, semi thick and the weight of me and the sled cause it to compress pretty deep and my wife and daughter say they notice it, but it's not distracting. I have also adjusted the inputs as I felt they were too much and unrealistic. I am asking my Viper Driver friend his experience in the cockpit for a good accurate assessment. That said, I am still looking forward to the rubber compressor feet arriving to place under or even bolt on to the chair feet. Will let you know more in about a week!
