On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

To get a Tomcat cockpit, he would have to import it from Iran. Since that is illegal, he settles for a desk.

@@that.schamp According to the latest Google Earth map, there's still one solitary F14 hiding out in the yard at Tucson. It's meant to be. Destiny even. We, the viewers, can do this for this man, as long as we're willing to commit some felonies and possible treason.

    • @LionessPurpose

Yeah, to get an F14 cockpit from Iran is illegal. The worst I've heard about the Iran-Iraq era criminals charges for giving F14A like TF-30s and AWG-9 radars. Basically, important parts to Iran were on death row.

I built a simulator about 10 years ago and I use it primarily to practice IFR flying using old school Microsoft Flight Simulator X (that particular software is a little dated but it still works fine). I had a traditional desk chair for it at first but no actual plane I have flown has had a desk chair in the cockpit. I wanted something from an actual vehicle, so I went to the local junk yard and found a front passenger seat (the driver’s seats were all way too worn and the passenger seat is pretty much the same thing) from a 1993 Nissan Maxima for $35. I built a base for the seat out of some scraps of old lumber so that was pretty much free. It works great; I still use it to this day.

Good video. I'm rebuilding my DCS set up. Had my complete gaming system and perifals stolen in early March. My Foxxmounts came in last Friday. Going to build my own pc. Going with a Ryzen 7 7800x3d with a 4090 gpu, 4tb of ssd, 64gb of ddr5. I also use Thrustmaster products. Found my old base and warthog stick. Have to order the throttles ( Going to change out the slew button again) and MFG rudder pedals with dampener. Probably pick up another TM FA18 stick again. When I made the switch to VR, Going to go with a HP REVERB G2 again. Ordered some parts for my build and they should be in by this week. Going to order the gpu and cpu next week. The case I'm going with is a LIAN 216, with a Gigabyte motherboard and MSI psu. I hope to be back up and running by end of July.

Surprisingly simple setup - no fancy setup (except for those pedals, those are top tier!). Cheap stick is OK for starting, but the moment you want any refueling and the throttle axis does its own jittery thing, not to mention limited precision... then you need at least something like T.16000 and TWCS throttle - and even that will soon start to angry you with jitter.

It would be interesting to see your Trackir settings. Because in the videos your head movement is very smooth and nice to watch, but when I play with Trackir everything feels a bit weird even though I played around with the settings for multiple hours.

The 16000M is a great stick, just wanted to add to that. I also believe that the same hall effect sensors are used in the 16000M as the Thrustmaster HOTAS joystick, just FYI for anyone interested.

This maybe 2 months ago, but being interested in DCS give inspiration to challenge or try new things for a descent setup.

Of the many subscriptions I have on YT, GS is the channel I definitely religiously go to as soon as I see a new video from him.
His delivery of DCS is entertaining AND informative altogether. The many technical terms and lectures in military aviation can get boring fast but GS has this talent that simply prevents that. His voice over does not necessitate exaggeration. It's just calm and consistent. There's a little bit of emotion for the sake of keeping the viewer's spirits up. Kinda' like your dad trying to throw a joke at you -- and then you're laughing while his face is still serious. 😁
Also, watching him dogfight makes me worried, that we may be giving our real world adversaries too much information. I am actually scared one day that the US military (USAF and USN in particular) will come knocking to GS's door and tell him to quit making Top Gun level information in the interest of national security.
    The last part, I'm f*cking serious. 😐

I'm more into watching than playing DCS and if it's possible I would really love a video off for exmaple a BVR engagement aswell as a dogfight with a video showing how you work the hardware!

I have the thrustmaster warthog throttle and the thrustmaster F-18 stick with the base plate. I only need 2 more things to “complete” my setup. Trackir and foxx mounts.

Perfect time to ask this question: Do you like scale model planes? Because it’s a great hobby to collect or build them, and makes for awesome decorations! Just curious

I have many of them, they're actually right on that shelf in the back of the room there, I didn't get them in the shot because I didn't think anyone cared lol.
