Aggressive Tow Truck Operator Waits to Pounce in McDonald’s Parking Lot

- Are predatory tow truck drivers lurking in parking lots, waiting to take your car right out from under you if you leave it for just second? Inside Edition got a tip from a viewer about one particular towing operation patrolling a McDonald’s parking lot in Brooklyn, New York. The tipster said he repeatedly saw cars getting hauled away within minutes of drivers leaving their vehicle to run a quick errand. So Inside Edition left cars as bait in the McDonald’s parking lot and set up cameras to see what happened. #InsideEdition

If there is a sign and you park there then you can't complain about how quick they towed the car, you shouldn't have parked there period.
actually you can, the tow truck driver needs to have documentation of the tow before the car even leaves the lot. No documentation when leaving the lot can be considered an illegal tow.
The issue is not whether the car owner has done something wrong. The issue is the size of the tow fees/fine. Would you still feel you had been treated appropriatly if the tow cost $3,000?

That manager was getting a kickback for every car towed, only explanation.
Not necessarily, I worked security, and one of the places I was posted was so fed up with their parking lot being filled by people going to the neighboring bars. The managers would call the tow company just so they could have a place for them and other employees to park.
@@tallysaurus7427 To have vehicles towed within minutes of being left, the towing companies had to have someone sitting inside the building doing nothing BUT watching cars. A McDonalds manager was more than likely too busy to be watching for cars to tow. And the only way a watcher could be there would be if the manager knew about them, as sitting in a fast food joint all day and not being a member of the staff is kinda sus.

Yes
Really acting like people life depend on empty mcdonalds parking spots lmao.
I used to work at an Albertsons next to a big swap meet center, and the parking signs clearly specified "Albertsons customer parking only". The private security guy that was on site had a second job working as a spotter. Dude was good friends with a tow trucker. Homeboy took home more cash in tipoffs than his dayjob.
It’s totally fair, it has a sign and they disobeyed on a private property with specific instructions
They didn't even get a reduced rate
1. using a spotter is illegal 2. over charging for the tow is illegal 3. paying the manager of the mcdonalds kickback is illegal... you understand that the tow truck driver can be put in jail right? the car owner has no such fear but having a towed car
Diavolo De Angilo I work at McDonalds and there is no rule of that
Drive Gear excactly, it’s McDonald’s property so they can make the rules
Diavolo De Angilo The tow truck driver should’ve been a lot less aggressive and he most likely wouldn’t have been in the situation maybe but I guess we’ll never know
Lisa-2:20 “he shut the door!”
McManager- “gently pulls door.”
The JuJu Lisa always acting like a thirsty gold Digging dramatic groupe
Looks like the door closed by itself 😂
I would have gone into the McDonalds and bought a burger and drink and asked the manager to bring me my car back at his cost. If he refuses I would sue for damages, have his restaurant license revoked, and have him followed home.
Simple solution here take Macdonalds court and make it very public, plus sue the towing company for auto theft.
When I see signs like that I just avoid the business even if I was planning to go there. But thanks for letting us know about spotters. I will always keep an eye out for them now.
@Lexa Con only good thing about McDonald's is the ice cream machine
Or just dont park in a businesses lot if your not a customer, that works too
@@niceguy6837 except this McDonald’s and tow company got busted for towing paying customers who were just eating inside. Which is exactly why I would avoid any business that had a sign like that up.

How would you like it if your parking lot was full of cars that belonged to people that weren't spending a dime at your establishment? I deal with this all the time at my place. I've had several cars towed off the lot. Literal signs everywhere. Including around my dumpster the whole neighborhood thinks is a community dumpster. Had to build a cage around the thing.
How is this unfair? They give you clear warning in the sign you chose to ignore, so... Serves you right.
Steven Tremblay for it to be that fast, they need a "spotter" which they described in the video. It's illegal for them to have a spotter.
@@Bruh-lm4zr says who
2:28 "Is it fair to be stalking vehicles, and swoop in to tow somebody's car within minutes of when they walked away?"
2:36 "Absolutely not. It's unethical. It's unfair..."
Why is it though? They didn't provide an explanation/elaboration. I still would hate it if my vehicle were to get towed whether I was in the wrong or not, but just why is it
cause getting the car back is expensive. maybe tow after 20-30 mins.
Money influences how fast they react
"If you're not inside Mcdonalds; you have to leave"
My life is now complete
Z Blade I’m surprised they included that segment it litteraly ruins their whole argument
The manager is mr krabs
Yall another guy has a video on this same McDonald's he was a CUSTOMER with a receipt and the tow truck still tried to tow them. There was a blue truck that went by spotting people and within a minute the tow truck came by towing people. Even tried to tow a lady that had just walked out of McDonald's that was legally parked in the handicap spot she had also got food there.
Except In this situation nobody went inside the McDonald's or brought anything. Which is breaking the rules. Which is why the tow truck driver towed them. Because like idiots they walked off without buying and broke the company rules.
Clyde Mcbride Correct they didnt they should have tried to buy something they would see they would still be towed.
@@brandyb01 Exactly!
That wasn't same McDonald's, that was in another state
Clyde Mcbride she’s not talking about this situation though.
How dare the owner of McDonald's not want a parking lot full of cars and nowhere for his customers to park.
Well now it’s time to teach the tow truck operator, spotter, and the manager from McDonald’s a lesson, let them know that there is a group of people going around flattening tires, breaking windows and damaging cars for no reason, and you hope that they don’t get their vehicles too. They will get the hint real soon!
What kind of lesson do you want to teach? They don't want people parking their vehicles on their parking lot if they don't intend to conduct business. If the parking lot is full, then patrons may travel elsewhere. Your idea of breaking the law can result in serious consequences including the ultimate.
no they wont bc of bribery
what hint is that? that there's criminals and vandals destroying property running around? better re-think that one, son
There was a tow truck operator who lived in my old apartment complex, who loved towing any violations he saw. Someone got pussed enough to break his window and set his truck on fire, which sucks because it also burnt my family's van parked next to it.
Positive note, we used the insurance payout to pay off the loan, but we had to do a lot of work and replacements. All the windows broke from the truck exploding, and the glass melted into the carpet. Still have the van, and there's only a little warping on one of the panels, and discoloration of the paint there.
