Do you think I can get a brass type sound or piano accordion maybe on a single string? I’m trying to do some Mavericks type songs and they have a lot of those instruments in most of their material, unfortunately we don’t have a brass section or a piano accordion player ha. I tried a Mel 9 but wasn’t quite right.
Absolutely agree. I commented in that style on their RUclips upload page - they didn't like it. This demo is less complex and tells you a lot about the potential of the Synth9. This is the demo that I point all my friends towards.
Oh god, got to get one of these. UPDATE - now have one. It's superb but takes a while to figure out the best tones for your own guitar and style. This demo is better than the one by EH themselves as there are no backing tracks here to interfere. Push the Synth9 tones through an EH Canyon or Epitome pedal for some really astonishing effects - or just try basic delay and chorus. Another good thing about this demo is that it shows that fast runs and riffs or chords are not always the way to go.
So this would be more suitable for ambience, background landscapes more than "riffing" or chordal work? Would you recommend this pedal? I've been on the fence for the last couple of weeks on this pedal.
@@djlimitededition385 I'm not a gigging musician but after several weeks playing around with this box, I'd say that the range of examples in this demo give you a really good idea of what its best applications are. You probably can use it for lead playing but only within limited range of effects and settings. It's great for riffing and bass-style runs (as demo'd here) but on balance I would say that unless you are VERY experienced with a midi-synth or guitar-based triggering of synth effects, then ambience and SOME chordal styles probably are the best way forwards ... certainly at first. If you're able to multi-track or loop then that could well be an excellent area to investigate. Have you also explored the EH 'Epitome' box? (or 'Epitom3' to give it its real name). This isn't a synth but a single box which allows all sorts of ways to blend 3 classic EH effects. Good demos here -- ruclips.net/video/KoB5BK9TrbI/видео.html and here -- ruclips.net/video/tcaRDEQH38U/видео.html or here -- ruclips.net/video/1cIuy8qFoT4/видео.html Of the two - AND THIS IS A PURELY PERSONAL PREFERENCE - I prefer the Epitome as its easier and faster to create usable sounds but it definitely doesn't have the ranges of the Synth9.
Thanks for the demo brother. I'm so glad you didn't use backing tracks or finger picking. Others do this and I can't get a good idea how this actually sounds. 🎵🎸🎶
Very good demo! After viewing a few other demo/reviews of the EHX Synth9, i find the string setting to sound like a mix between strings & brass... but certainly still very useable sounds. Thanks for the great demo.
The only one of these I have is the “B9”, and it’s really good. Now I have the “Mel9” on the way, and I’d like to get this one and the rest. Great, innovative stuff. Thx for this excellent overview; I found it informative and useful!
I can see these '9' pedals becoming an expensive folly for me 😮 I already own the B9 and Mel9 and I like them immensely. The trouble is, I also like this Synth9 and the Key9, and if I get those then I may as well complete the collection with the C9......there's a cool £1000 of pedals right there. It's a shame that ElectroHarmonix don't make a single unit with them all on, to save space. I just hope that they don't bring 1 out after I've bought my collection.
"What you're playing is triggering the internal sounds" - from what I understand it is actually effecting the sound but in a big way. You can check this by just changing the pickup switch and you'll see it affects the sound.
A little bit, hotter pickups will have a more louder, harmonically rich synth sound and vice versa, doesn't really affect the shape or the envelope of the synth though :)
very nice video. a question please! I don't think I understand if it is possible to listen to both the guitar and the synth sound at the same time? Tnx
How do you think this unit compares to the Boss sy300? I had the Mel9 and was very unimpressed by the tracking and how weak a lot of the voices were. Nice demo and thanks for posting this.
I think the problem with the bass sounds here is that he always got the Dry knob (Blend) on full FX... I'm sure that mixing 50/50 (FX/Clean Bass) should sound way better.
I have the SYNTH 9 pedal and all I really want to is to dial in the ELP ‘Lucky Man’ Mini moog sound, but have never been able to really dial it in. I have tried it in the front of my pedal chain [into a 5150 head/cab] at the end of the pedal chain and direct with no other pedals - GTR--> SYNTH 9--> AMP Any thoughts or setting to share?
Juan - You don't need to worry about anything like that with any of the "9" series of pedals mate. They sound great and are fun to use. I own the B9 & Mel 9, I like them a lot and I want to get the C9, Key 9, and Synth 9 and ccmplete the collection 😆👍
i've got the C9 but all this serie has a problem: there is no possibility to store the presets and their levels, so if you need two different sounds during a song, you always need to bow down and quickly change the preset and create the sound you need. Even a midi in and a expression pedal input would be appreciated.
It's about time that EH got their act together and did what Zoom do so well when they make effects and multiFX units within which you can create and store your own settings as patches.
Just picked up one. They should call this The Pussy Machine because it will absolutely get you laid. 10:15 should have just played Harold Faltermeyer’s “Axel F” instead.
I love ambient music, new age, video game music and some 80's synth cheese.. This pedal doesn't seem like Gods synth gift to guitarists but if I found one cheap I would definitely get my money's worth by playing with it when I'm bored of typical distortion stuff. It would be funny to make some cool synthy music with this and freak people out when you said "it was all guitar" I'm guessing the new Boss synth pedal is better?
I remember being really excited when I saw the video for this when it first came out, then I decided not to get it and I liked it less and less the more I saw videos of. I think that's happening again now LOL. The boss pedal that came out the Sy one I think that has better sounds in there more usable these are all like thick bee sound kind of similar but the Boss 1 Sy 1 I like the sounds on that I have just gotten it and I already liked it better than all the videos I'm seeing for this one
its unfortunate you can't plug a modulating pedal through this like a Roland V-5 pedal and modulate a filter on this. I like the simplicity. For the money, I'd almost just rather have this than the Boss SY-300 which i own. The sounds are very usable. The SY-300 is absolutely amazing, but I'm more of a plug and play guy and if I'm really wanting to program a bunch of sequences or something, I'm gonna use a computer anyway.
one thing this pedal has that the SY-300 does not have is Portamento (from what i can remember). The Boss does have pitch envelopes and LFOs that can modulate pitch, but not a Portamento that will behave the way this EH pedal does like a real Portamento where it will bend as far as the distance between next played pitch.
It tracks pretty well, when you play really fast it gets a little latency but if you mix the dry with the wet the initial dry will still be one tempo so it still sounds fine
Does not sound so great. I would not waste the money. You are better off using soft synths and sound fonts triggered by a midi tracker. This pedal sounds like balls.
The pedal is really amazing, but requires a little bit of creativity and imagination to get the most out of it or otherwise you will bored very fast. Clearly is not for everyone
Finding a lot more about my synth9 since watching this.well done ( even at my age (83), still learning).regards H6UKVET.

Awesome! Keep rockin, friend!
Same here,alot younger at 64
My boyy you littt keep rockin OUUT
I’m 63, but the numbers on my birth certificate are my bitches. 🤷
best demo of this pedal of about 6 demos, so far, incl EHX

essential pedal for any 80s lover

Wow producing some awesome 80s film music
Sounds like Bladerunner in a pedal.

I already have some good musical ideas to use this device for 😍. Can't wait to get one!
best demo of this pedal on you tube ! thank you , good job !
Best demo I've seen of this - thanks.

Beautifully done with the Profit V
this is the best pedal goddamn
Thanks for the demo
This is a very good demo
Great demo, great job 👏🏼

Which one has better tracking? I play jazz fusion

Ok...i need this...I can get my early Emperor on without a keyboard player
This was a really great "real life" demo that covered all the options. I'll subscribe!
Great playing! makes me want this pedal even though I own a synth
The prophet is gorgeous
very nice video. a question please! I don't think I understand if it is possible to listen to both the guitar and the synth sound at the same time? Tnx
This looks awesome!
If you’re going to speak about the Oberheim, you must demonstrate Van Halen 🤘
If i didn't buy the b9 before this came out I would've bought this
This pedal is coller than any other pedal I have.
if it can replicate the synth sounds in welcome to the machine then ill buy this right now
hi, what do you have it plugged into?
How do you think this unit compares to the Boss sy300? I had the Mel9 and was very unimpressed by the tracking and how weak a lot of the voices were. Nice demo and thanks for posting this.
Hi.can this pedal replicate the synth sounds of 7th son álbum of iron maiden ? Thanks a lot....
Good presentation with settings in full view but no bass example for #8
3:48 castlevania
Very interesting pedal!
I wonder if it's really useful for bass.
WildVideos probably not, but I want one nonetheless 😁😁
I like this very much, goog Play
Sounds gorgeous on guitar, shit on bass. Like every pedal it seems.
Have you seen the Bass synth pedal 'Future Impact'
I think the problem with the bass sounds here is that he always got the Dry knob (Blend) on full FX... I'm sure that mixing 50/50 (FX/Clean Bass) should sound way better.
Great demo! synf=synth. Love accent mate lol
What would be the general difference with the Pedal Electro Harmonix Guitar Mono Synth Guitar Synthesizer? Thank you
I have the SYNTH 9 pedal and all I really want to is to dial in the ELP ‘Lucky Man’ Mini moog sound, but have never been able to really dial it in.

I’m guessing you were inspired by Bill Rupert’s EHX demo. Indeed that was some sorcery!
good tracking huh? looks like it, cheers!
How well does it track? Is there a slight delay?
No mate, there's no delay whatsoever 👍
@@JammyGit what if you play a little fast?

Is the bass guitar distorted?

no expression IN, no saves, no possibility to mix 2 sounds....
and no stereo.
They've stated since the b9 that none of the organ/synth pedals can track bent notes.
Mike Lakefloor . Yep, I wanted to play Keith Emerson licks with the B9 .. can't track fast enough
It's about time that EH got their act together and did what Zoom do so well when they make effects and multiFX units within which you can create and store your own settings as patches.

Sounds like Jan hammer Miami vice
Thank you bro
Some Zack Hemsey - 'Waiting between world's' sounding chords at 5:56 lol
Sound around 4:50 to 5:15 I do not like that I wish this one or the Boss 1 put in an electric piano that would have been more usable and this
Torn between this and Source Audio C4...Hmmm....
👍😉🇬🇧🇺🇸❤SPOT ON DEMO

called in the PMT shop in Cardiff and they didn't have one, typical. Every time I've gone in there for a specific item, they never have one in stock.

try some power chords!
You sound like Abroad in Japan
Rocko's Modern Pedal Review
Does it track string bends?
No.
Yes
The BOSS SY-300 sounds far more natural and organic to my ears.
Ahh 30 seconds classifies as a "bass demo". Gutted! I wanted to hear more fiddling with controls and such 😩😂
Guitars do Stranger Things
I keep expecting him to say “eh guvna”
somebody please donate one of this to me!!
i have synth guitar , i'll stay in that lane, i can control and manage patches better!!

Brilliant job in this demo!
lmao grumpy pants, it sounds awesome and you are just a hater. Go away!
Terrible pedal. Nearly useless. Don’t buy. Unless used from me :)
How much?
$130 plus shipping basically new haven’t used it
Chris Arias I’m little late but do you still have this for sale?
The pedal is really amazing, but requires a little bit of creativity and imagination to get the most out of it or otherwise you will bored very fast. Clearly is not for everyone
