Probably one of the most well done demonstration vids for an FX pedal I've ever since. You have obviously listened to each of the settings and have great musical intuition. You've helped us all to see through your demonstrations how to get the most out of this pedal. A masterful job.
Have the mel9 and the synth9 , both brilliant. This is another amazing pedal but the one I am really waiting on the Ehx guys is a grand piano 9. Now that I would buy immediately!
Imagine if they went whole hog with sample and impulse response recorded Concert Grand Piano. A grand piano is only 6'4". A Concert Grand Piano is actually 9', hence more fitting to the nomenclature: Piano9 👍🏻
I finally bought it and it's the best pedal in the series so far! The freeze functions are so much more useful and beautiful than anticipated. Tracking is flawless. I could play the freeze function, walk away and listen for hours...it sounds so good!
The last lick demostrating the orch freeze setting was lit. Too bad we didnt get to see him playing it. Very sweet and emotive. Nice demo of the pedal, loved it!
Finally found a store in the UK with the pedal in stock - ordered and can't wait. Some of those classic 70s and 80s string sounds are iconic and to be able to play and access with a guitar without a specialised pickup is going to be amazing. Especially in conjunction with an Ed O'Brien Fender Strat with sustainer pickup - some crazy stuff gonna get laid down on tracks :)
Got the pedal now and it is amazing, but be prepared to approach your guitar in a whole new way while also having more fun than you can imagine 😎 Recommend using a powerful output pickup for best results - the Seymour Duncan bridge humbucker pup or the Texas classic on the EOB strat are great. So many ideas and sounds to explore... I'm too old and will never get bored with this beast - utterly cool, thanks EHX team for creating this monster pedal xxx
I can hear Mr. Crowley being done with this pedal. I also like the AARP setting that's reminiscent of songs like Dream Weaver and even the background music for Friday The 13th, very cool.
Most impressive! I've enjoyed all the demos of the "9" range. I have to wonder where is the "boundary" or end to this type of development?? It's simply an amazing ride so far, great work EHX.
Holy cow is this pedal great! Just got one from Sweet Water a few days ago. Can't stop using it. The first 3 sounds are where it's at for me. To incorporate it with my band or acoustic duo I think the Juno and the PCM will work the best, as they're a little more subtle. Using a volume pedal either for your "dry" unaffected or for the String 9 works really well. I have a gig this weekend so I'm going to try it out. It's already mounted on my gigging board...which I didn't plan to do so quickly...but it's a keeper and sounds great. Fills in the holes incredibly well for some of the 70s and 80s stuff the band does. Running it in parallel is where its at for me. I opened up the pedal and set the internal switch to mute. So when the pedal is off, there's no sound coming out of the Effect output jack. I'm basically running my guitar into the pedal then sending the Effect output directly to the PA mixing board where the String 9 has its own channel. The Dry output signal from the String 9 goes to the rest of the pedals on my board and then into my Marshall amp. Sounds fantastic!!! I love using the volume pedal to blend the sounds together. It also sounds great behind my acoustic guitar as sort of a background string pad. Really works well (again I run it in parallel with my main guitar signal so the String 9 has its own channel on the PA mixing board.) I researched this pedal for several months after wondering if there was a pedal out there that could do exactly what it does. It does pretty much everything I hoped for. Can't wait to hear it do the synth parts in the middle of Rush's "Distant Early Warning". Sounds perfect at home. This Saturday I'll find out how it works with the band. It's a little box of Magic!
Definitely a very inspiring pedal. I’m very impress on how well it tracks chords, that’s worth the buy alone for that. Thanks a bunch EHX, cool product.
Yes and more . I don't write or record prog (loved it and still do) but I guess my noises in my band are more what are called "indie" (whatever that means) but this pedal is proginabox you are 100% correct. Well, defo the 1980s in a box as well :)
Great pedal but I’m still waiting for woodwind/ brass9. Trumpet, sax, trombone, flute etc. Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, tower of power, and all the funk you can dig up.
This is great! I have been wanting this exact pedal for church music. Previous pedals only had one or two sounds I liked but this hits the mark. Don’t forget Bass players! You should do bass demos too.
thanks to your demo of the sounds Arp sound and the sounds you could get playing a few iconic Beatles songs, I immediately bought one. This is my first synth pedal and it is as great as I had anticipated. Amazing low growls that you can get. My favorite so far is the ARP setting and then the Synth Freeze ad Vox freeze. My faves will change I am sure as I play with it more.
Someday there's gonna be an EHX 100 Grand pedal or EHX 1999 with all the 9 series built into one, like the HOG or something. Until then, keep these pedals coming!
Another great EHX pedal as always especially for their low competitive price. The String 9 sounds really nice especially on those long sustained notes, harder to sound realistic to my ear on the shorter staccato or pizzicato notes but to be honest this pedal seems to do better and nicer job than I was expecting! Nice one EHX it’s already been added to my ever expanding list of wanted pedals! Love the synth freeze auto mode with expression pedal for swells, sounds awesome!!!!
Imagine having a Guitar9 pedal with acoustic steel strings sounds, nylon, 12 strings, sitars etc that would be incredible and funny, funcredible in a way.
IMHO: this synth pedal sounds like the thing I looked for in the Synth9 pedal, but that one fails to produce a music hall of sound like this one in fact does. I know that these are string ensemble emulations, not replacements for them, but from what I hear here, this pedal contains something to make your own Jean Michel Jarre/Vangelis out of your guitar amp. It goes on my wishlist now. I am curious what it will sound like in combination with the Mel9 tape machine on Orchestra preset......MUST make some stadium-full of sound!
Hey guys, I just sold my '65 Jazzmaster and from now on it's plastic keyboards only. But I must say, in >50yrs trying, I went nowhere close to this mastering of the guitar (I was raised a violonist). This guy hears the note he wants + is able to access it on his neck, that's a true guitarist as I've seen rather few. (the pedal does sound good too)
Would love to see a "Plus" version of the 9-series, especially the Synth9, with more controls, options to turn modulation on/off, and a dedicated freeze switch.
I wish they would do a mix of these “9” pedals. Some of Organ/Synth/and String to cover all bases. I use Synth 9 live for emulating a lot of different sounds. People often think we are running tracks! Great pedal!
Totally - first thing I played when I got mine was the "Sweet Dreams" riff from the demo. My old fat fingers can't do the reach to the top note but easy enough to play on the B string. Sounds immense. PS: When you have a brilliant guitarist demoing - and why not - it adds to the inspiration :)
For those who want to use this with synths: My experience from the Mel9 is that the analysis engine doesn't work very well with synth input unless you nail the dynamics (attack/sustain) and pitch range it is expecting from a guitar.
Oh man this demo took me from uninterested to ..I'm pretty sure I'm in love w this pedal...my god the possibilities in a studio...or live but creative tool the creative musician can really carve something special out with...and it was only one setting on one preset thru the demo...I can't fathom how this thing tweaks...you rock EHX♥️🤘😜🎸🎶
What are you waiting for ? When will you do a 9x9 with all your "9" pedals and more ... brass are missing but also acoustic/nylon/banjo/violin simulator and then add sitar, super ego, pog, delay and reverb all into one big unit and with memory program and patch recall !! How long should i wait for that ??
Never, ever, forget that Mr Ruppert is an musician extraordinarie.
That's why I never miss his videos. He always sounds good no matter what.
His Demos are second to none.
Absolutely
It’s difficult to forget such a thing, unless someone removes my brain from my body, than I just might
Agreed
I am amazed at the technology behind the transformation of 6 guitar strings vibrating to the sounds I hear coming out of that little box.
The chord at 7:51 nearly sold me the pedal by itself. Love that Bill always drops a bit of Pink Floyd whenever he is able to in these demos
For the best Mr.Crowley covers in all the land
Wow. Congrats EHX and Bill Rupert for the playing. The non-synth string sounds remind me of the old great samplers. I will buy this one.
Always love ehx adverts.....like no other. Nobody does adverts quite like ehx
Another awesome demo. Now I just need a Bill9 to make me sound good 👍
Nice one! :D
He's back at it again making us all feel like we need this pedal before we die
And you do!
Probably one of the most well done demonstration vids for an FX pedal I've ever since. You have obviously listened to each of the settings and have great musical intuition. You've helped us all to see through your demonstrations how to get the most out of this pedal. A masterful job.

OMG yes, definitely - take my money now lol !!!
Bill's demos are still some of my favourite videos to date, fantastic pedal!
You guys, seriously chill. Quit releasing godlike stuff, you're killing me.
I finally bought it and it's the best pedal in the series so far! The freeze functions are so much more useful and beautiful than anticipated. Tracking is flawless. I could play the freeze function, walk away and listen for hours...it sounds so good!
Bill Rupert is a freak of nature...in the best possible way.
This could be the best thing I've ever seen! Absolutely blown away but already know my guitar abilities will be lost on this pedal!
Bill is the best guitar player in the world. he deserve more lights...
That orchestra freeze bit is a work of art in itself!
EH keeps knocking it out of the park with these. RESPECT.
Holy smokes, the Allan Parson Project and Tangerine Dream in a box. Amazing pedal!
Bill is the only reason why I watch these demos. True master
Love that you quoted Mahavishnu on the Symphonic setting demo.
The last lick demostrating the orch freeze setting was lit. Too bad we didnt get to see him playing it. Very sweet and emotive.
Nice demo of the pedal, loved it!
I'd like to know what gear was on during that lick...
@9:00 Bill Ruppert is one sick dude! His playing is so amazing. Just floors me.

always and always, ehx is the pioneer of creating unique sounding guitar pedals, none other!
Nice to see this series of pedals getting some love again!
I can hear Mr. Crowley being done with this pedal. I also like the AARP setting that's reminiscent of songs like Dream Weaver and even the background music for Friday The 13th, very cool.
You guys make some of the most unique pedals out there
Wow. I haven't been blown away by a pedal in a long time. I need one! Just imagine using it to play Kashmir and Stargazer!
I think so , and all the 70`s prog rock
This is the one I was hoping for in the collection! Sounds incredible! Mostly though, Bill Ruppert makes it sound incredible.
I had no clue this is possible, all my prayers have been answered
The chords you play are fascinating
Bill Rupert rules completely.
Amazing pedal.
The freeze section at the end was incredible, intense!
I'm a keyboardist but I never miss when a new pedal comes out from EHX. Every demo video is so entertaining, I love them!
One awesome pedal I don't need but will definitely add to my collection 😁
Most impressive! I've enjoyed all the demos of the "9" range. I have to wonder where is the "boundary" or end to this type of development?? It's simply an amazing ride so far, great work EHX.
SUPERB demo!
EHX really does have some of the best demos around!
Holy cow is this pedal great! Just got one from Sweet Water a few days ago. Can't stop using it. The first 3 sounds are where it's at for me. So, how did the pedal work for you at the gig? I'm thinking about using it for the same purpose. Thank you!
Bill is still the ultimate demo guy!!
That juno setting ! Damn, very cool.
EHX is killing it with these things
Definitely a very inspiring pedal. I’m very impress on how well it tracks chords, that’s worth the buy alone for that. Thanks a bunch EHX, cool product.
This is just getting ridiculously good. I love it
As always, Bill you are a treasure.
I would love this. So many tones so little time
AWESOME!!!
This is going to be the 4th EHX 9 series in my pedalboard!
Amazing demo as usual.
I feel always inspired with new sounds after watching your demos.
Came for the pedal, stayed for the playing. Wow.
This thing is so trippy. Some psyche-rock band is gonna get a hold of this pedal and go nuts with it.
Simply put, this pedal is prog-rock in a box. I love it.
Yes and more . I don't write or record prog (loved it and still do) but I guess my noises in my band are more what are called "indie" (whatever that means) but this pedal is proginabox you are 100% correct. Well, defo the 1980s in a box as well :)
Incredible sounds! EHX does something next level here.
Great pedal but I’m still waiting for woodwind/ brass9. Trumpet, sax, trombone, flute etc. Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, tower of power, and all the funk you can dig up.
That’s what I’m looking for as well!
Bill is a monster. Phenomenal player and . . . he started-out with Led Zeppelin. oNe LovE from NYC
If you were paying this guy to sell your pedal you'd be overjoyed with this demo
If there is no latency problem, then I'm sold.
Ive played every 9 series pedal by EHX and theres no latency problem, hell i use Synth9 on a lot of stuff and it works veryyyy good
The playing and choice of guitars is as stellar as the product. And for what they are with the development costs its not expensive either!
Yeah, all the many EHX pedals I own sound great but I need one that gives me Bill Ruppert’s knowledge… Yeah, that’s the one I really want!
😅
The way it handles polyphony blows my mind ...
That Charvel guitar is gorgeous.
This is great! I have been wanting this exact pedal for church music. Previous pedals only had one or two sounds I liked but this hits the mark. Don’t forget Bass players! You should do bass demos too.
Oh man, the amount of musical quotes here! Soo lovely
thanks to your demo of the sounds Arp sound and the sounds you could get playing a few iconic Beatles songs, I immediately bought one. My faves will change I am sure as I play with it more.
I already own the Mel9, just bought the B9 Organ machine and now I need to make room on my pedal board for this!!!
Someday there's gonna be an EHX 100 Grand pedal or EHX 1999 with all the 9 series built into one, like the HOG or something. Until then, keep these pedals coming!
Yes let's hope cause it is obvious.
With a few hundred preset slots, MIDI mapping and some badass graphics, with floor board and rack versions.
Another great EHX pedal as always especially for their low competitive price. The String 9 sounds really nice especially on those long sustained notes, harder to sound realistic to my ear on the shorter staccato or pizzicato notes but to be honest this pedal seems to do better and nicer job than I was expecting! Love the synth freeze auto mode with expression pedal for swells, sounds awesome!!!!
Imagine having a Guitar9 pedal with acoustic steel strings sounds, nylon, 12 strings, sitars etc that would be incredible and funny, funcredible in a way.
Love the demo music chosen - so many memories, so well chosen!!
Guy is an awesome player.
Oh boy. Can finally do a full Mr. Crowley intro with the 9 series pedals!
Best pedal company ever! Truly amazing stuff
IMHO: this synth pedal sounds like the thing I looked for in the Synth9 pedal, but that one fails to produce a music hall of sound like this one in fact does. Honestly I want a whole board of these 9-series pedals and a switcher to just go nuts with all the things a guitar just should not be able to do
This guitar effect sounds be usefull to me and my theremin. Good to know. Im gonna purchase it in the near future! 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Would love to see a "Plus" version of the 9-series, especially the Synth9, with more controls, options to turn modulation on/off, and a dedicated freeze switch.
Thanks EHX, for these fantastic multi-effects pedal for Live Concerts, Church parties, .... Keep it up. Good job and good day
Excellent guitar player, awesome pedal!
On one hand I play keyboards and can get most of these sounds. On the other hand I also play guitar.... And I haven't bought a new pedal since May...
Packed with great ideas, and I love a string synth. ✌️
Niiiiiiiiccceee!!!! Cool pedal, great playing!! Oh, love that Charvel too!!!!
I’m saving up for the brass 9. Chicago, EW&F, and all the funky stuff in between.
Mr. Ruppert’s playing is certainly next next level. One curiousity…does he have giant hands?
holy shit! ELO in a box!
And I love ELO and this pedal
Very cool, sounds excellent with headphones. Now I want one. And yes thank you Bill for your amazing skills bravo.
I wish they would do a mix of these “9” pedals. Some of Organ/Synth/and String to cover all bases. I use Synth 9 live for emulating a lot of different sounds. People often think we are running tracks! Great pedal!
That’s a good idea. Use two pedals. Or loop. Than track over. For layers.
Bill always does a superb demo.
I told you guys to do this, like 3 years ago. It's about time~ Next....Horns!
this is sooo ''war of the worlds'' sounding.... love it !!!!!
very impressive! I got the Synthesizer pedal from Boss but didn't find enough sounds that I could use often, but I could definitely use some of these!
There's guitarist and then there's Bill.
If choir9 is next… then i can die in peace❤️
Beautiful pedal, my favorite so far out of the instrument simulator series.
Best demo bro' ever! We @ Mark's Guitar Exchange San Diego thank you for the great pedals!

These are some of the most eagerly awaiting videos I follow.
I’m more impressed with the guitar playing than I am with the pedal.
Without swearing, this looks fucking amazing!
What are you waiting for ? When will you do a 9x9 with all your "9" pedals and more ... brass are missing but also acoustic/nylon/banjo/violin simulator and then add sitar, super ego, pog, delay and reverb all into one big unit and with memory program and patch recall !!
