showed my keyboardist this pedal, and he said "About time. Now i'll play up front and do your(guitar) solos with my keys and you can stand in the back next the drummer and play the background chorus sections." :D
Wow. Mr. Keith Emerson ( R.I.P. ) - in a Pedal format. EHX is on Another Level. Bill you are A Monster Player. Im still in Awe, from your Led Zeppelin / No Quarter ( you previously did ). Awesome Demo's man.
EH has been coming out with some great sounding boxes for sure but the thing that makes your devices so great is that a guitarist can simply plug in his/her favorite guitar and dial in whatever sounds they can imagine without worrying about special pickups or tracking issues. EH makes some of the most user friendly stuff on the market these days. The sitar box still cracks me up, George Harrison would have loved it!
Its honestly a lot of fun, I turn the dry up to just over half and synth low to add to what I'm playing Only issue I have with it is that you need to completely unplug it from the aux plug in every so often to let it 'reset' Other than that it's amazing
Oh my freakin' god ... as a guitarist with an affinity for synths, thank you, thank you, thank you! After purchasing a GK pickup, midi module, and various synth modules (Roland & others), I've spent so much money trying to get the synth timbers that I've craved. It was always a compromise between having to play a certain way to get the module to track and having to settle with with the lame synth module tones that weren't exactly what I wanted. Well done with selecting those classic synths to emulate, and with such articulate tracking ...I can now play like a guitarist again! That's what I always wanted: the articulation of a guitar with those awesome synth timbres! This is going to be such a best seller.
Bill Ruppert does it again! Rush, Genesis, Kraftwerk, EL&P - a one man prog-rock jukebox! What a great little pedal too. Yes you can get some eighties sounds but you could use it for a lot of other types of music too. Very nice.
Bill Ruppert's guitar playing on these EHX demos is superb. Other reviewers try to play rock or blues when demoing these pedals. Great job Bill! The mel9 and synth9 are in the mail...you sold it.😎
A lot of synth pedals are inexplicably going for sound effects and video game sounds. They're still expensive, but they're just toys, or implements of torture, depending on how long you're forced to listen. Whoever designed this pedal was thinking maybe one of these pedals should make music rather than 12 variations of farting noises. EHX did well.
God dammit ! Every new pedal release is like drugs : we want more, we need it, we want it RIGHT NOW, and we can't control ourselves ! Thanks for creating those masterpieces, EHX !
reasons I love ehx 1. its run by a sweet old man who is adorable 2. their demo videos are very entertaining with a fun lil clip at the beginning (my personal favorite is the organ pedal one) 3. their products are legendary 4.their products are very nice 5. looking at the demo videos/reviews/pedals gives me a lot of joy and excitement thanks guys
Damn....and here I was thinking that my EHX Microsynth pedal was the best thing since sliced bread. You all at EHX have really outdone yourself. I absolutely need this pedal as I love doing 80's retro music but not a great keyboardist. This pedal would make my songwriting goals a whole lot easier and more creative.
Wow electro harmonix are coming out with the coolest most innovative pedals in history, they were always ahead of their time. I had some original pedals from the 70s but they weren't durable, now they're very good quality, with fantastic music ideas and innovations. Good work Electro Harmonix
I was impressed from the first sounds which immediately felt so 80's and so Genesis. But the Lucky Man synth solo at the end convinced me I need to buy one!
Have had this for a couple weeks and it's safe to say I will be keeping it. This video is helpful to learn more. The instructions in the box don't suffice IMO.
I just got one second hand. Glorious! There is an ever so slight lag and you have to play clean and not let loose things rattle around too much but in every other aspect it is fab! It reminds me of the sound of the 360 Systems Slavedriver Polyphonic Synth. In the 70's that was unobtanium but now you get that sort of pompous sound in a little pedal. And it works! I also tried it with my voice, which tuns it into a wailing solo synth. Do however be aware that it will make you sound like a loon to those who do not hear the results while you are doing your thang! Furthermore it turns every old cracked keyboard into a mighty poly synth. And the synths it emulates weren't even velocity sensitive! This one however is! Well done EHX. So stop presenting it as a partyband expansion accessory. This is a real instrument! If only I was better at playing the guitar. I'd become the Jimmy Hendrix of guitar sythesis! :-)
Just bought a good vibes, can't wait to get it.. EHX is at the forefront of the pedal world... top notch!! I have an electric mistress, great chorus on it.
Dammit Bill, stop selling me on these damn pedals! LOL Put 'em all in a rack with MIDI floor control and I might sell a kidney. Not mine, but someone's.
Throwing my money at the screen. Seriously, been wanting a guitar synth with these kinds of sounds for a while. If we're talking the same price range as the other "9" machines than consider me sold.
Yes!I've been looking for this exact pedal for years! didn't want to spend all that money on a pickup and a massive multi effects, thanks so much EHX :D \m/
Oh guys. This is amazing, incredible. Totally need to buy one. I love that 80's sound and would love to experiment with it as a psychedelic background in some metalcore. Price is relatively high, but who cares, everyone agreed to become financially ruined for the rest of the life while picking up the guitar for the first time and signing the contract with the devil.
Dang, this and the Roland SY-300, have to say of the two this actually looks more out-of-the-box practical. What changed in technology to make this instantaneous conversion possible? Great time to be alive. Excellent demo, it makes all the difference to hear the tones in a recognizable song, since a lot of us want to get up and running with archetypal sounds, even if we also enjoy the ability to disappear into the editing screens and tweak our own.
Yes. That third selection ... what super fuzz dark synth garbage noise that really any apocalyptic cyber punk future movie soundtrack would just demand more and more of. Too cool!
I have this guitar lick that I think sounds like a sci-fi/ horror soundtrack. Like a John carpenter riff but my own and this pedal would really bring out what I’m trying to do I bet.
showed my keyboardist this pedal, and he said "About time. Now i'll play up front and do your(guitar) solos with my keys and you can stand in the back next the drummer and play the background chorus sections." :D
Basically every 80s cover band needs this. 👍🏼
Instant respect for starting the vid off with Rush!
Anybody else enjoy the heck out of Bill's voice as the narrarator?
He's a total voice dude. I can listen to his playing all day, too.
Wow. Mr. Keith Emerson ( R.I.P. ) - in a Pedal format. EHX is on Another Level. Bill you are A Monster Player. Im still in Awe, from your Led Zeppelin / No Quarter ( you previously did ). Awesome Demo's man.
Great ad. The "Lucky Man" rendition is what sold me on the new toy/tool.
Y'all are evil geniuses who opened up a black hole in my wallet.
Yeah, I got sucked into the black hole...... and liking it !
Bill is a damn genius on guitar. every time I watch this video I see something else new in his picking and chording.
I don't need this in any way, shape, or form. but I want it.
Agree wit you....sounds so tempting for solo playing to de-stress
Its honestly a lot of fun, I turn the dry up to just over half and synth low to add to what I'm playing
Only issue I have with it is that you need to completely unplug it from the aux plug in every so often to let it 'reset'
Other than that it's amazing
Bill Rupert kills it in this demo. He always does, by in this his true chops show. Wish I had 1/9th of his ability.
Oh my freakin' god ... as a guitarist with an affinity for synths, thank you, thank you, thank you! Finally we can have that Yngwie Malmsteen Vs. Rick Wakeman duel we've always wanted!
Funny, yeah, but guitar synths sound awesome.
I never knew I wanted that, but now I do! 🤣
If you put a synth through this pedal, would time fold on itself?
It will sound like a guitar and the world will spin backwards.
Warranty absolutely voided.
The two would cancel out and you would hear nothing.
+EHX Will we go back in time like in Superman '78?
Never cross the streams.
The guitarist’s expertise highlights the pedal greatly! Not usually the case
Bill Ruppert does it again! Rush, Genesis, Kraftwerk, EL&P - a one man prog-rock jukebox! What a great little pedal too. Yes you can get some eighties sounds but you could use it for a lot of other types of music too. Very nice.
Forgive me father for I've synth...
Megat Yaesree quick, somebody make that into a t-shirt!
Anthony, Yes! ...but they don't have a good selection of t-shirts.... they need one for every product.
What about the "Synth's of the Father?"
Forgive us our bypasses and those that bypass against us....
Megat Yaesree lol brilliant
The Seven Deadly Synths?? Corny.......?
Bill Ruppert's guitar playing on these EHX demos is superb. Other reviewers try to play rock or blues when demoing these pedals. Great job Bill! The mel9 and synth9 are in the mail...you sold it.😎

EHX did well.
I just ordered this pedal, can’t wait to play “Jump”, “I’ll Wait”, “One Foot out the door” by Van Halen. Also the Sammy Hagar Van Halen tracks.
God dammit ! Every new pedal release is like drugs : we want more, we need it, we want it RIGHT NOW, and we can't control ourselves !
Thanks for creating those masterpieces, EHX !
Thanks!!!!
reasons I love ehx
1. its run by a sweet old man who is adorable
2. their demo videos are very entertaining with a fun lil clip at the beginning (my personal favorite is the organ pedal one)
3. their products are legendary
4.their products are very nice
5. looking at the demo videos/reviews/pedals gives me a lot of joy and excitement thanks guys
And I was just about to go full Midi rig to get synth sounds. Phew! This saved me a lot of money... Thanks EHX!
I'm sold - picking one up soon. My favorite part of this whole presentation is the 60s video clips during the Vibe Synth part.
Bill Ruppert demos are always awesome.
Bill, great demonstrator that surely knows his target customer group!!!
Wow electro harmonix are coming out with the coolest most innovative pedals in history, they were always ahead of their time. I had some original pedals from the 70s but they weren't durable, now they're very good quality, with fantastic music ideas and innovations. Good work Electro Harmonix
Thank you!
Starting off right with Subdivisions! Nice!
I was impressed from the first sounds which immediately felt so 80's and so Genesis. But the Lucky Man synth solo at the end convinced me I need to buy one!
I bought all five “9 Series”. Now, all I need is a “Bill Ruppert in a Box”.
Fantastic! All the EHX keyboard emulation pedals are winners. More, please!
I just got one. Holy fucking shit. Best guitar pedal ever.
I believe it..cool pedal.
with awesome inventions such as these it just proves why guitar is the best instrument ever
Hands down the BEST!!!
Dangit Bill!!! You're gonna make me buy every one of these things!! excellent playing and demo sir!!
Bill you are THE man. Another superb clip. TYVM, Sir!!
This has to be the best pedal I’ve ever heard in my life!
EHX are really pulling it out of the bag. What great fun these are!
Have had this for a couple weeks and it's safe to say I will be keeping it. This video is helpful to learn more. The instructions in the box don't suffice IMO.
I can only begin to imagine what music would have been like , if this was available 30 years ago ... mind boggling !
Rush, Peter Gabriel, Axel F, New Order. Will this pedal bring the 80s back? If so,
I will buy it.
Don’t forget Parlament Funkadelic, bro lol
EHX, I must say, you are quickly becoming my favourite pedal company!
Thank you!
Want this one AND the KEY9. Putting all those high end, extremely expensive pedals to shame. Great job dudes.
I just got one second hand. Glorious! There is an ever so slight lag and you have to play clean and not let loose things rattle around too much but in every other aspect it is fab! This the best guitar synth demo on youtube!
Well done!
Just ordered mine. Apparently the shop is getting their first batch this coming week. Super excited!
Suggestion: create multiple pedal package deals. ... I'm sure everyone wants at least like 3+ EHX pedals.
Wow, you guys are giving that drum machine a real workout in this demo!
Just bought a good vibes, can't wait to get it.. EHX is at the forefront of the pedal world... top notch!! I have an electric mistress, great chorus on it.
I'd love to see a pedal that combines the B9/C9/Key9/Mel9/Synth9 with preset capability. We have the technology!
Aaron Walker we have the technology but I don't have the money
I think that's actually the HOG 2.
No not related at all!
Next EHX idea... 😉😉😉.... a Pad9, like the Superego or Freeze but with verbs, mods, delays and swells...? 🤓
It's the Superego +, I don't know when they will release it but it exists. Check it on Google ;)
I've been waiting for this pedal and that demo was incredible.
Oh boy you sold me with Subdivision 🤗🤗
You did it again!!!!
Another one.
I love you guys!
The 80s vibes in this are awesome.
Absolutely amazing. Best of the '9' series by far
Oh my... setting 8 String Synth 4:22 is INCREDIBLE. I needed this 30 years ago!! Better late than never. >:) Very nice!!
the guitarist demoing could sell sun tan lotion to a shadow
Well put.I think he's the same guy who does the Effectology series available at ehx.com
I'm stealing this line! lol
sell ice to eskimos
sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves
Nice one, Matthew! ;-)
Dammit Bill, stop selling me on these damn pedals! LOL
Put 'em all in a rack with MIDI floor control and I might sell a kidney. Not mine, but someone's.
The pedal is excellent and Bill Ruppert is a genius.
Throwing my money at the screen. Seriously, been wanting a guitar synth with these kinds of sounds for a while. If we're talking the same price range as the other "9" machines than consider me sold.
Wow, it sounds so 80's!!
I want to buy all these outrageous 9's of EHX, shut up and take my money
Yes!I've been looking for this exact pedal for years! didn't want to spend all that money on a pickup and a massive multi effects, thanks so much EHX
:D \m/
omg I've been waiting for this day for so long
Bill is an awesome player and programmer ... my jaw hit the floor when he played the lead from ELP's Lucky Man .... more more more!
Awesome electro harmonik's gadget..I already owned one, it's superiority outclass others, tnks Rupert for the nice demo👍
My flabber is well and truly gasted. EHX you've only gone and done it again!
Just got this one of my favorite pedals ever
The song selection for this is spot on!
Ok you finally won me over with Lucky Man
I said the same thing with Watcher of the Skies on the Mel9 demo... Now I'll be twice as broke!
greets fron "Kraftwerk!" 😀 This is a great item!!!!!
Really?!! I LOVE kraftwerk!
Wow with acoustic guitar it sounds great
I've been playing guitar for over 50 years and now I have to learn keyboard shapes on the guitar? Thanks a lot... I'm still getting one!
Pretty much brought this pedal on the mini mood patch sound, 9:10 and demo song.. I was in awe... love that sound .. and still do.
The OBX sound sold me!
Richard Bartlett yeah that’s a nice sound
The most beautiful thing I've ever heard
My keyboard player would hate me if I got this... already have the B9 and Mel 9
Depends... Is he a good keyboard player ? Lol ! His services might no longer be required !
Best gear DEMO VIDEO EvvvvvveeeeeRRRR.
What an amazing piece of gear too!
This is the best sounding guitar synth pedal I've heard... it will ultimately find a home at ICP Studios!
This EHX pedal tracks better and sounds better than my BOSS SY-1 synth pedal. The SY-1 has more controls but 90% are useless sounds.
Loved the Subdivisions and Blue Monday examples.
The lucky man solo (9:44), is better than the original. Smooth and powerful.
YES. This is everything I've been looking for.
That 'Rush' section sounded fucking amazing .. TAKE MY MONEY!
I was already sold, and then you guys threw in Lucky Man. I'll be happily broke because of you guys.
It's the 80s in a pedal!!!
I'm at 2:57 and have already ended up buying one
My plan was to watch this so many times I would get immune to the lure of this device. Well, that did not work..
Bill Ruppert sure is good at selling me gear...(Bass9, C9, and waiting for a horn pedal)
Is the horn pedal called The Viagra?
That is a perfect demo and very cool product. I will have to get me one for sure.
Ok this pedal is gonna be here on Saturday. Excellent demo.
Gotta say this was a great demo video. Learned a lot about the pedal, good playing, tasteful, Flashlight! Quality through and through.
When we buy these, do they come with the chops to play em like you? YES, I’m all in then!
Your company is amazing!
This was a superb treat, Thank you Bill.
Dang, this and the Roland SY-300, have to say of the two this actually looks more out-of-the-box practical. What changed in technology to make this instantaneous conversion possible? Yes. That third selection ... what super fuzz dark synth garbage noise that really any apocalyptic cyber punk future movie soundtrack would just demand more and more of. Too cool!
I shed tears at 9:43
I'm getting one of these someday!
I have this guitar lick that I think sounds like a sci-fi/ horror soundtrack. Like a John carpenter riff but my own and this pedal would really bring out what I’m trying to do I bet.
Damnit Electro Harmonix! I don't the money for you to be putting out amazing pedals every month!
If you played guitar for a Genesis tribute band this would be perfect for a lot of that stuff from And Then There Were Three and Duke!
