Yellow Toad in Super Mario Maker 2 (Mod)

- This is a texture hack of blue Toad in Super Mario Maker 2, which colors him yellow. It doesn't look that good, but I needed to do something different. Even though it seems very fast to make it took some time because of many models are actually made of texture pattern. Especially those in New Super Mario Bros U.
I couldn't find a way to change the color of some blue Toad layout panels, for example when online players are shown. These colors seem hard-coded, so I can't change those.

It's a little upsetting to know that this wasn't in the base game, but good to know others feel the same
This is awesome I literally thought of this the other day, would love to see the other three Toad colours! I think the only reason Toadette was chosen over Yellow Toad is literally because Cat Yellow Toad is the same colour as Cat Mario, and they like all the characters to be distinct colours.
Not to mention Yellow Toads SMB1 sprite looking too bright as well.
Well, yeah, but I think they made the wrong decision (my thoughts)
Some Boi Juice I agree, it actually does look like Yellow Toad as a playable character even if this is a mod. Yellow Toad is my favorite.

Maybe is because the NES can't produce Yellow (The Smb1 and Smb3 themes) And you know that Nintendo never fails putting Easter Eggs
yellow toad was my favorite charactar in mario bros wii and it still annoys me that nintendo hates yellow toad for some reason
They don’t hate him but they cut blue toad from Mario U switch port so I mean I understand why they went with blue toad

yellow toad has 2 problems:
1) Cat yellow toad is the same as cat mario. In may be orange
2) It looks jank in SMB style. It may be orange even in this case
For 2, yeah I agree because they changed the yellow pipe to orange in SMB1

Toadette is more unique than a colour swap but i do miss yellow toad just play any of the main line new super mario bros except the ds and 3ds version to play as him its just in the wii version gotta do multiplayer

It's a mod, so you can't do this, sadly.
Actually, you can do this. Just change the sprite colors of Toad.

These look nice but I do have some feedback.
NSMBU and SM3DW Yellow Toad should have an orange outline added to his vest, not bright yellow don't believe me? Yellow Toad(s) have this unique outline on their vest while the rest have of the regular Toad species have yellow to prevent blending. Same for Big Yellow Toad in SMB Style (I mean the big red and white Mushroom item that turns you modern colored 8-bit in SMB Style)

I think you should just simply reuse NSMBU's yellow Toad texture if the mapping is the same.
SMW Regular/Fire Yellow Toad's outline around his cap should be a bit darker it doesn't have good contrast compared to Blue Toad's since yellow is slightly brighter in color.
SMB3's Fire Yellow Toad needs a different shade that is a similar color but a brighter color. Fire Mario has orange, Fire Luigi has lime green, Fire Blue Toad has light blue and Fire Toadette has a slight bright pink. I selected every NES palette that is yellow to differ from the big and small form but they blend so white would be a better choice to use.
Oh man...SMB Yellow Toad looks not only too bright but he looks soulless and vestless since it blends. I kinda see why Nintendo didn't use Yellow Toad since some of the styles would look too bright on him and inconsistent with other styles. I think it's best to use Mario's golden brown color it's still golden yellow like Yellow Toad but it's the closest color palette that doesn't blend in with his skin.

Also, I really suggest you give Cat Yellow Toad different color fur. Like Some Boi Juice
says, the only reason Toadette was chosen over Yellow Toad is because Cat Yellow Toad is the same color as Cat Mario and also even if Cat Yellow Toad got a slight color shade difference, it wouldn't be very multiplayer friendly to distinct one another and way more people know that Cat Mario is yellow and they will mistake Cat Mario as Yellow Toad due to his color between the form and character.
But I guess the best way to distinct Cat Yellow Toad is orange with black spots (like Cat Luigi) like a calico cat. Of course, the belly can still be white but make the base fur orange.
Why Calico colored? Well, some reasons other than just color.
-It's Japan and Mario games have a load of Japanese culture and obviously, Nintendo is from that, Tanooki is even based on the Tanuki animal in Japan.
-3D World has a special Lucky Bell item that turns you into a Gold Lucky Cat Statue which is an object in Japan.
-You will see why Cat Mario is Yellow with what the color means in the link below and how it reflects Cat Peach even in some media like Odyssey and the Cat Mario show.

@@dice6626 There is a reason why he isn't red and why Cat Rosalina's suit is black instead of cyan. As with Nintendo known for doing Japanese cultural reference and giving more evidence with the Lucky Bell power-up that turns you into a golden Lucky Cat Statue. The Cat suits including their color is based on those Statues and the color has a meaning fit for them consistently, see here.
