Keep Planting!
Hi Lethius! What pretty Stephania plants, leaves are so large, I have a Stephania erecta that has 3 leaves on a long stem, had to use a chop stick to prop it up, when I received it, I planted it in a pot and covered it with a glass cloche, and outgrew the cloche and so far no more leaves, I have misted it very well since I received it twice a day and it it seems happy, I really love it, thank you for sharing the growth of your plants with us all, enjoy your day, hello from Orange County, CA 🤗🪴💚
Hi Susan! I wish mine would grow a longer stem like yours but I am happy with it as is, all things considered. I think higher humidity is definitely appreciated with this plant. Thank you for your lovely comments, as always! 🌱🤗
@@RootsReady Hi Lethius, you're welcome, now I'm hoping to get a Stephania Nova like yours, the leaves look like lily pads, my Stephania is sitting in a west facing window with my collection of succulents but I close the blinds when the sun comes in full force around 4 in the afternoon, don't want them to get scorched, hopefully it's cooler there with you, enjoy your day 🤗
Just discovered your channel and I'm loving YOU and your information , thank you 💜🌹
That's amazing! That's for watching
What a beautiful plant.
I couldn't agree more! Thank you
cool, glad you figure it out. Now is my turn!
Good luck!
Beautiful plants! I just bought a caudex pre-sprouted, about 5 inches with mini flowers. I think traveling home from the store may have torn the roots off? I just found one teeny root in the soil and no other’s, so hoping for enough energy in it to live. Have you noticed shoots before roots, or do they come at the same time?
I was wondering if your first plant is taking on more water because the pot itself is porous, and is sucking up the water and it is evaporating? (The other looks to be plastic?)
I love your voice, there is a smile in it. Thanks for the info.
I couldn't agree more! Yes, in my experience they tend to produce leaves before roots. Mine took a severals months to really root in
Stephanaia eretca has separate male and female plants. So if you want seeds you need to have more then one. Once it flowers you can tell if it’s a male or female plant. Male flowers bloom in larger clusters but smaller in size while the female flowers are larger and more yellow in colour
That's really interesting! Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to find out if mine is a male or female. I have a feeling it may be male based on your description
Hello 👋🏽, I loved the video! Super informative. Could you tell me if you would recommend using pon with a self-watering pot? Or is conventional substrate better? Thank you
Hello there! I have had best results growing it in pon
@@RootsReady thanks 😊 I'm going to use pon and a similar setup as you showed
Thank you so much for this video … My Stephania was planted in a very normal house plant substrate with some decoration stones on top and had super big bugs around the roots as I inspected it. Just ordered a bag of Lechuza Pon and will try the self-watering tactic! My question: Are you keeping it in the water sorcerer during its dormancy phase as well? XOXO
Great question! I am only watering lightly as mine is still under a grow light. If you plan to keep it in a dark space then you should not water it
I just planted my Stephania erecta! I’m so excited to watch it grow. I have a Stephania nova coming in soon. I love these little odd plants 😂 as a first timer with these babies I’m hoping I can get them to root without any hiccups. I hope I can get the pink leaves on my nova. Is there a certain way to ensure that or do they just grow that way?
I am excited to hear that you collection is growing! They are great plants. The new leaves tend to come out in a brown/pink leaf. It will then turn to green.
hi can I ask were you go these plants from great video thank you. is it normal to spend upward of $80
Hi there! When I bought mine, I spent no more than £25. This might be different in your area. I purchased mine for a seller from the UK
Will this grow in a paludarium. I have one.
Good question, unfortunately I can't be sure as I haven't don't it myself. However I have been able to grow it in Pon with high humidity. Do what you will with that information 😂🤞
Hi Lethius! I have three of them and though they have leaves never the thick ones like yours. I don't water them as much. Never though to put them in a self watering pot, I might have to re-think that from your results. What do you feed it?
I think they will appreciate a little more water than a succulent... but not too much more. I feed this with a full spec semi hydro fertilizer. It is called Formulex
Do you use distilled water for them? Or do you think tap water should be fine?
I think it really depends on how harsh your tap water is where you are. Where I live, I can comfortably water my plants with tap water

Hi Friend, how many time a week do you give wather? thankyou.
Hi there! I water mine once a week. I hope that helps
Can you please tell me what wrong with mine
Can you tell me what issues you are having?
