The one thing a lot of people missed was the actual pronunciation of the way "Carter" was saying the word is different from the way it's typed on screen for the subtitles. He pronounces it ending with an, -a, and not an, -er. So when the Carter character instructs the Lee character to, "Say what I say and do what I do", right before entering the bar, Lee was just following Carter's instructions. If you're still offended, I'm sorry but this is how "chill" they were back in the late 90's to early 2000's; if you wanna blame someone, blame the one/s who did the subtitles. Also, let's not forget how "racial" the Carter character was towards the Lee character in their first meeting, yet both characters as well as the actors that portray them, become the closest of friends despite being from two different backgrounds and cultures.

As a black guy i find this scene hilarious. But we could never do it today with how sensitive people are now. But when it comes to the word im kinda in the middle in terms of opinion. On one hand i like that we took a dark part of our history and flipped it into something positive. One the other hand i get why some people are confused about how only blacks can use it but no one else. Kinda like how women can call each other the B word but when a guy does it its offensive. Idk im kinda conflicted tbh.
Growing up white in MA, I’ve mostly heard blacks referred to as “The brothas”, referring to working class fellowship. But I’ve heard that word used in hateful ways, like we were smoking a blunt and one dude we were with said, “Hey, Reggie, don’t you lip it”, indirectly calling him the N word. As a white dude with biracial family members, I hate the word, but only when white people use it
He deserves it? People clearly cant understand that people from another culture who have never been around our own wouldn't understand what's ok and whats not. Those people in the video saying he deserved it are idiots. There's a difference between being purposely antagonistic and straight up ignorant. 7:56 I love this guy's energy so much
Same
That was pretty funny 😂, loved the reactions and i just wanted to say, you have very kind eyes sir.
Outside the context of this movie, this also shows the western mindset of how it's funny to make racist jokes towards Asians, yet overly sensitive when there's racism to blacks.
My nigga, Jackie Chan, can say “nigga” whenever he wants to. He don’t have to apologize for shit.
3:07 lmao the difference here, shes white but afraid to laugh, meanwhile her partner the black guy is dying of laughter
As a white dude with biracial family members, I hate the word, but only when white people use it
sophie and mair are the best reactors on youtube i swear😂
U.S. citizens are funny
People are way to sensitive 😂
ITS.A.JOKE.
The WHOLE movie carter is teasing jackie about being asian 😂
Oh Sh*t ! Who the hell is that man on top right !? I just noticed him ! 😂
He deserves it? People clearly cant understand that people from another culture who have never been around our own wouldn't understand what's ok and whats not. Those people in the video saying he deserved it are idiots. There's a difference between being purposely antagonistic and straight up ignorant. Jackie was clearly supposed to be ignorant to the customs just as much as Carter was to the customs in China. Geezus.
I’m actually shocked that there are people out there that don’t know who Jackie Chan is and what he was capable of doing with his own stunts. Some will say Tom Cruise is the king of stunts, Jackie Chan “hold all my crutches”.
How is she going to ask if Jackie Chan be doin all the moves and stuff while she is literally watching Jackie Chan be doin all the moves and stuff
I am a latino who grew up in LA and I grew up in the 90s calling all my homies the "n" word, black and latino, and they called me the same thing freely. Wild how this word became less inflammatory from the 70s to the 90s, and got inflammatory yet again after the 90s to the 2020s. People are moving backwards and becoming more and more sensitive.
I really miss 90s, where censorship doesn't exist.
lol nothing compares to opening weekend of this movie and the reaction in the theater when he said that line in ‘98. Blade came out that same weekend too.
i used to work in construction, i was the team leader and are excavator operator was black and jokingly i said "what's up my digger" at first he like wtf did you just say? i repeated it and he heard me say digger and he saw the funny side.
4:33 bro knew that will happend and make fake laugh💀💀🙏
As the greatest stunt king since his younger days to now his retirement of becoming the best martial artist actor, he 100 percent has the N word pass, and plus this movie was like 20 or so years ago, and so you can't really be offended by it if this is your first time watching it because he played his role in acting before and the scripted done.
Either it is a bad word and demeaning or it is OK? Make up your mind!! You can't have it both ways. Only in America.
There's only one way. Derogatory if non black, okay if black. Pretty simple to understand
Derogatory word said by any race.
@@thelegacyofgaming2928 pretty dumb to me
@@thelegacyofgaming2928Definition of hypocrisy, if you ask me. I'm not saying I should be able to use it, nor would I ever, but if it's derogatory in one way, it should be derogatory no matter what.
The fact he repeated it 💀💀😂😂😂😂
I am an Asian, we say nigga all the time to our friends. It means brother here in Asia. 😂😂
Yes, everybody does. Nowadays it’s just another word for “homie” or “friend” or something
true
Make sure to keep it that way with your friends, America doesn’t rlly fuck with that mostly… and a lot of people will get offended or swing on you. Even white people (because for some reason they feel the need to “defend” or whatever)
@@nsasupporter7557 Not every body, amigo,no one in my apt complex uses that word and neither do I.In fact no one uses ( in public ) in my neighborhood,at all. If you do expect some one to put hands on you. LOL.
@@kerry-j4m good to know… and I didn’t literally mean everybody, I was exaggerating. I just meant that when it is used these days it’s just another word for “friend.” Sorry I should’ve worded that better
to many sensitive people nowadays
I DON'T SEE WHY THEY TRIPPING BECAUSE I BET NONE OF THEM SPEAK SPANISH BUT WILL ACT LIKE THEY DO TOO BE FUNNY OR SAID EESSAY OR VATO TO A MEXICAN AT ONE TIME..!! THAT'S OUR LANGUAGE
Anyone who said he deserves it doesn't get comedy at all!
Those 3 guys are prime examples of snowflakes. Instead of thinking it through and reading the situation as him being a foreigner and not knowing what that meant they instead herd the word and got emojional😂. They didnt think at all past there emojions. Thats a textbook snowflake reaction by all 3 of them
Double standard racism.
The film makes racist jokes of Asians all the time everybody:😂
And Jackie said what's up my niggas to say hello everybody lose their mind:😮😮
Jackie Chan got the lifetime subscription of the N-Word pass.
And actually, this unfortunately, is mainly how our society is. Some words can be said by some, but not others. It is where we sadly are now.
Not for me. That word is likely to get you dropped instantly if said to me... whoever it is by.
As a few have discovered over the years. 🤨🇬🇧
so go ahead and say it. seems like you want to. nobody's stopping you.
Somehow you missed the joke, and turned it into “but I wanna say it too!” Quit playing victim.
I don't know why people think it's this sudden thing that some people can't say some words. Maybe learn about history and taboo words. It's been a thing since humans existed.
The people who attacked Lee in the bar are racists.
People forget that Jackie's character, Lee, is literally visiting the U.S. for the first time, so he's unaware of any sort of cultural behaviors he should be mindful of. He's simply copying what he saw Carter (Chris Tucker's character) do.
Jackie is the only one who can still live after saying N word😂
In Russia we say that whenever we want.
I can't figure it out if people really became this sensitive or if the react channels just overreact for the content.
Remember when nobody even cared about this sh*t in the 90s to 00s and just laughed at Lee's naivete? Good times...
He couldn't have said "what did you just say" any more perfect
He literally told Lee to follow his lead and do what he does lol Lee just copied him
People who get angry at this scene or say he deserves a beating are the problem.
I laugh every time I hear this scene in rush hour, come on it's Jackie Chan 😊
