I'm only a quarter into the video, but I find it already riveting
So did I ;-)
Very enjoyable as usual. Don't leave such a gap until next one
Glued to the screen eh?
Me too ! I also want a rivet gun despite having nothing to rivet 😄
Hi David, It was lovely to meet you at Willowfields. I'm the little white campervan with the pop top roof on your video. Hope your journey home was better. Keep smiling, keep traveling & most of all keep having fun 😊
Hello! Lovely to meet you 😀😀😀
Seems quite funny with the "stealing" raffle...never seen a thing like that...
😂😂😂
The cornflakes wouldn’t stand a chance if I were faced with such a tempting alternative 😄
Was really good to see you there David and chat over a few beers, nice work with the video too. See you again soon :D
Thank you, great to catch up with you both
That is a very novel and fun twist to a raffle! Keeps everyone engaged until the very end and I'm sure it was more fun than the typical and usual raffle rules. What a good idea for an event where everyone who bought a raffle ticket is present!
Sounds like a vantastic time!
Oh, my word. I no longer feel guilty about watching your (and nearly everyone else’s) videos at 1.5 speed. 😊
🤣🤣🤣
Well, that was a fun weekend even if the predicted rain did fall. Thanks for showing us around, I hope you can enjoy more before summer's end. Stay safe!
Oh no! There's something GREEN in that sandwich! Be still, my heart.
Delicious
Green cheese!
Cozy! Rain tapping on the windows is also pleasant to listen to.
love the Mercedes one.. well done.. the reusing the caravan seats are brilliant!
I feel your frustration, I know it all too well. Many more years ago than I would like to admit I was driving in a rural area on the interstate when all the sudden both lanes came to a complete stop, not unlike that episode of One Foot in the Grave. For twenty minutes I sat there with everyone else, not moving an inch. I never found out what caused it. There was no interchange to cause a backup, and there was no signs of an accident. Just a long unplanned picnic in the middle of an interstate with a bunch of strangers.
Odd, isn’t it?!
Thanks for a super episode. I really enjoyed it.
That campground with the pub is a brilliant idea.
Tons of convivial fun, ‘eh!
Certainly was!
A very British Burning Man. Rain and all.
No mud. Have to go to Glastonbury for that.
The raffle process was hilarious, good fun.
Looks like you had a great weekend.
I did!
Thanks for bringing me along on your trip! 😁
I always enjoy your videos. And I agree about the Canon XL-1 😍😀
I'd have bought the rivet gun too. :)
There's some lovely van interiors there; lots and lots of character. And, of course, I love the Morris inside and out.
Thankyou that was a really fun little video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Two uploads from two of my favorite channels, both Cruising the Cut AND Vandemonium! Do you know each other? It’s neither my birthday nor a red letter day so I am a lucky girl! Everyone needs a rivet gun! I hope it’s a good one and will do more than a few sheets of paper. I am amazed that you did on the repairs on your boat AND built out a van without a good river gun! Please tell me that you haven’t twisted everything together with bailing wire. Or worse, with barbed wire? I am repeatedly impressed by your skills and agility doing what you have done without the proper tools! Kudos, David! If I could afford it, if would fly you to the states and have you help me remove 3 seats from my bus and get me started. It’s not too big, just 25ft long with a 15ft box to build the camper in. The “box” being the space behind the driver where the living quarters will be. Why do I go into details when I can’t afford the plane fare? (Sigh). It’s not about me but your ingenuity reminds me that someone with your skills could get me moving. There are supposed to be people here that will help but old widows lack the cute necessary to garner volunteers. That’s okay because on days like today, I can watch you journey down the Thames and then jump on 4 wheels and pseudo drive near the M-42. Not making derogatory statements about your driving but about the slow downs and stops on your journey to the self build gathering. I like them better when they are not overcrowded. Especially when starting out.
On the off chance that you think my comments are much too short, I have a very sincere question for you and your followers, if I may. I truly don’t understand and I would like to stop being a stick in the mud and try to understand. I have noticed that many self builds are being equipped with tricked out sound systems. Growing up deep in the Rocky Mountains, the sounds you would hear (and wanted to hear) were the sounds of an elk call, a fish jumping, the playful bellow of a bear and the occasional sound of a vehicle in the distance. As children, screaming was not tolerated unless blood, broken bones or a rattlesnake was involved, we might have a few good musicians and a guitar and percussion in the evening to accompany the crackling of the pine woods in the fire but tricked out sound systems were installed in ones living room. We often had good music in the vehicle for our ventures into the city but we would not turn it on very often and we would never turn it up. Now, people will put very loud and often objectionable music on in a tightly packed campground and behave as if everyone appreciates their urban music in a quiet mountain environment. I have a trick to handle this when people are being provocative and daring you to do something and it is quite effective BUT I would prefer to understand and find a way to tolerate it or tone it down rather than creating a camp wide wake up call at 0500 with Flatt & Scruggs before packing up and moving higher into the mountains. I don’t doubt that I have presented this in a less friendly manner but I really do want to understand. Any ideas?
No ideas but good luck with your project build, it sounds like great fun!!
Regardless of the scalding coffee spill, the UK sandwiches are indubitably better than similar sandies bought in US quick markets
Cheese and salad? That's rather daring! Love the Morris Commercial van.
Looks like a great weekend - We enjoyed our visit to Bought or Built earlier in the year. Shame there wasn’t more stalls. Some cracking vehicles, amazes me how creative some people are in their builds.
Thanks for the look around and nice to see some familiar faces.
Love that raffle concept!
All the very best, David & Rachel 👍
At 1:02 I figured you'd put on the cruise control and headed into the back for a snack.
David: It is a fun piece. Now you have a Rivet Gun, you must now acquire Safety Wire Pliers. I bought mine for rebuilding a Military jeep transmission and transfer case, but you need one. You never know, and it does have 'Safety' in the name.
What fun! Thank you!
I bought a rivet gun when I was a kid from a garage sale. Being a kid I had no use for a rivet gun, but I still had to have it. So I deeply understand the need to pickup the rivet gun
What a treat! Two videos from David today. That did look like a very nice weekend, after you got past the traffic. I'm saving the Cruising the Cut video for my afternoon G&T.
Fantastic!
Thanks for another great video David , I could watch you showing us other peoples vans and layouts for many hours more than what you showed us , one of my favourite kind of videos
Thanks 👍
and the Morris van!
Reusing bits from a caravan seems like a good idea. A friend of mine is dismantling a 40 year old caravan for parts to put in her van.
Looked like lots of fun.
What a nice little outing! Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for watching!
Hi, thank you for such a professional video. I definitely need to up my editing game. Hopefully we will see you at our other events in the future 🤞
I hope so too!
Excellent vlog, looks like you had a load of fun.
Went with you from the Thames narrow boat trip to camper van show. You certainly are busy! Enjoyed them both.
It has been busy indeed!!
You got me into adz ventures David, thought he might be there as he’s building his new van,Chris
I think he was at an event in Newbury
Great video. Thanks for showing us around. Was that the wonderful Mr Virgo enjoying a few beers?
Yes it was!
1:05 😂 I immediately thought you were on the roadway in traffic taking a tea break!!!
Brill video, worth the wait!
Thank you
Really good video Dave 😊🚐
Thanks 👍
Good that you are back
This was great. Such marvelous self made vans.
Thank you for sharing it with us
Looks like a decent bunch of people having fun … how lovely 😊
Hope all is ok with your family
Thank you, yes by and large
Thank you for sharing your videos! Whether you are on water or on land, it's a pleasure to follow your adventures!
Thanks for watching!
Simple and small 👍👍
I really liked the Mercedes campervan.
Smashing little look into a cosy vanlife meet-up. Well done David. 👏 👋
Big Thumbs up, another great vlog. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
Whilst I appreciate and admire your penchant for a cheese whatchamacallit, surely, when at Greggs: the roll du sossage? No?
Oh the anticipation for.... the new rivet project, whatever that may be. Fun games at the Willow meet-up !
Good to see a glimpse of Greg Virgoe. Hope all is well for your personal life.
How lovely it must be to have such a sense of community. I need to get me a hobby like that.
Hi David. Just watched this and we are so impressed with your deliverance and professionalism in producing your videos. We were actually there at willowfields but over on the hard standing behind the bar area. We would absolutely love you to do a van tour of our "Beejay". We are at slumber on the Humber the weekend of 11th August and the big picnic in Basingstoke the weekend of the 26th August. If your at any of these it would be a pleasure to meet you. Keep up the brilliant work. You should be on TV. We have subscribed to your channel and will be watching some more of your videos. Pop over to ours and have a wee look. All the best. A&B.x
Cheers 😀
Definitely a field of dream's 👍 full of friendly like minded people lovely to see you 😉👍 ... ❤👵🐾🐾🐾🤠
From boats to campers, seems like a good evening. Good plan purchasing that pop rivet gun, they're endlessly handy. I bought one close to 30 years ago for a specific project, and put it in the tool drawer when I was done with it. About 5 years ago I had a need to make something and it turned out rivets were just the thing. It's been safely in the drawer ever since. So as you can see, they are something you do use. I only hope to live long enough to get to use it again!
Fab video, David. Always look forward to your content. Yep, there were several vanlife meets/festivals on at the weekend. We arrived home in France late last night after a brilliant Dubbed Out festival (open to all makes of van) on the Cheshire showground.
Superb!
Thanks again for sharing your adventures.
That breakfast steam engine was just awesome - I too wouldn’t have been able to resist. Yum.
🙂🐿🌈❤️
Those breakfasts are often the best part of outdoor events for me.
I used to work for OnSite. There van went past on the right at 1:56. Now there's a fact not worth mentioning.
If you hadn't already had a victron mppt charger i would have suggested a Renogy dcdc30 or 50. Mppt and dc dc in one unit so you could have charged from your alternator if needed.
Some days im full of useful.
information..
Excellent vlog as always.
Oh ps. My mother-in-law lived in a canvas top horse drawn traveler's caravan until she was 3 years old.
And at the close of the Morning🤣. Oh yes, a rivet gun. Must have one.
Thank you for all of your videos David…many hours of enjoyment gained here in the Pacific Northwest US from your Vandemonium and Cruising channels!
You are very welcome 😀😀😀
Haha the raffle game is rather similar to a game played at Christmas in Denmark. However I rather liked this version. What a pleasant 'meet up' - it doesn't always need to be 'a monster' does it?
More videos please. Love your blogs, 🙏❤️
Cheers
4:05 what a fantastic design
Don’t you just hate the M42, M1, M6, M4, M3 …………………M999! Endless roadworks and delays.
Great video David. Thank you 👏👏👍😀
A rivet gun is an underappreciated tool.
And a good time was had by all 😊😊😊😊
What a fabulous happy fun weekend. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Another great, relaxing vlog at the end of a truly crappy day. I will put a rivet gun on my Christmas list...just because...
I have a factory conversion but always love to see the self builds. Thanks for sharing.
🤔 could be a song there, I once had a camper & the bed had no legs.😂. Like the horse with no name. There I've given everyone an ear worm.
The Mercedes high roof van with the shower is brilliant and Morris was lovely too.
Lots of ideas for the Vandemonium 2!!
Don't forget - with pop-rivets that go through from the outside, you have to squirt silicon or something into the little holes! 🙂
First, I love your van and the fact that you built it yourself. And what a fun get together! I must admit that although I love all the vans and would have voted for the Morris camper, I personally would have to have a van I could stand up in. I'm fairly short at this point, but the knees and back and hips need to be in a completely vertical or completely horizontal alignment.
In the US we call what happened at the auction a "Yankee Swap," and it's sometimes used at Christmas get-togethers, like an office party.
5:37 thats the WooleyCod Wanderers Campervan 😊👍
Well done David
Great video, featuring the legendary Greg Virgoe at 3:27. The raffle looked very interesting. Regards AJ
Only the one rivet gun then David. I downsized recently to just two. To be sure, to be sure. Very entertaining video, thank you.
that is so cool!
Having worked at installing equipment in commercial vans, I'm amazed at how much can be done to make a comfortable living space in a similar area. Much appreciated. Be well and stay safe
Cheers 😀
Fun weekend for you!
Great fun David…shame about the traffic, sadly usually the same, drives you potty!!
Good show David.
Love the Morris Traveller, looked for for a for door transit with a tray to do a similar build up. That Renault is pretty good too. Nice job David, thanks m8!
Great video, thanks
Glad you liked it!
Like some of them lottery winners, you lost your winnings rather quickly. 😂 Looked like a roasting good time though, and that smoker grill was fantastic! 😊
You got that right!
Smashing Vlog that! 👍
Thanks 👍
6:34 Wonderful
Laugh out loud less than 90 seconds into vlog. Never not funny. Thanks for sharing.
😊😊😊
Fabulous! You have my sympathy with the traffic, we got stuck last Friday on just the same bit. A question for any selfbuilders if I may? The use of wood, especially recycled palette wood; is it because it's cheap, readily available, has a good strength/weight balance, or easy to work with? Or all of these? Asking for a friend.
All of the above, but also, when it comes time to remove it, you don't have a pile of everlasting industrial waste on your hands.
The UK version of RTR, much more civilized and green 😎
So many new ideas for your van David, the pop rivet gun was definitely a must have. BTW, you dodged a bullet by not getting the Nissan…
I have to two rivet guns and decent set of rivets and I never used any of them :D
Of course you need a pop rivet gun. Slim Potatohead uses his to do road repairs, regularly.
I think I probably got inspired by him on that 🤣
Lol you need a bib 😂,great video, traffic is a nightmare 😢you got their eventually, great 🏕 campside. You could of bought a kite with the windy weather
Enjoyed watching your outing, David. Some of those camper vans are gorgeous inside! Although I must say I am not keen on these sort of 'parking lot' type camping facilities, it sounds like this Camper and Van Club have a fun time out there. I do much rather prefer to be in camping where there are more trees and wildlife... and you aren't sort of camping on top of each other, don't you? Cheers for your excellent presentation! xx
To be fair, it was a field that they just let us all assemble on
🧀 🥪 @@Vandemonium Ahh, I see....That rivet gun might come in handy on the off chance you decided to perhaps put an awning or tent sleeve attachment on your van...just say'n....😁
Thank you for sharing again. My husband bought us an RV. We used it once and I had a small accident. 😢😢 Waiting for it to get fixed at repair shop. Glad for insurance. It cost $7,000 dollars to repair 😮😢.
We contacted you on the Cruising the Cut. My husban has been going through chemo since July 2020. We have not been able to visit family because of my husband's low blood counts. Finally, we got to sit down with 3 of my husband's sisters, my sister, and our daughter. 1st time since 2019. Oh, such a blessing from God. I have missed them so much. And great news, my husband seems to be getting a little better. I know many will laugh, but he shaved everday of his 5 days of chemo, he is wearing cotton short-sleeved shirts, no coat, and his blood counts continue to get better. He is terminal, but God truly has other plans. I am blessed with every new day and with my husband. We are looking forward to camping on the shore of Lake Michigan next month.
God bless you and thanks again.
Vivaro poptop looks interesting.
Love the raffle 😂
Were there any Transit Connects there? Everything seemed to be "bigger" vehicles
There was one, yes, but I didn’t get to film it
