  • The Dipsy Diver is a diving planer designed to keep lures at a specified depth while trolling. The Dipsy Diver includes a weight that you can rotate cover different areas and depths in the water column water This allows you to troll multiple lures from your boat without tangling the lines. You can get very deep with dipsies whether you're fishing walleye, salmon, or steelhead.
    Dipsy Divers are available in a variety of sizes, and can dive anywhere from 20 to 100 feet below the surface.

      Would this be like a 100ft leader after the dipsy? Can you detail the setup exactly cause it sounds pretty dang good 👍

    Can you use these with a kayak? I have been trolling a small lake by paddling for exercise. If I'm on the water, I may as well be fishing!
    I've been using torpedo lead and worm rigs for walleye. Pain in the ass to get the depth.

      Yes, but you probably want a sturdy rod holder

    You mentioned 20# Flouro line for the leader from the diver to the Lure. What brand line exactly are you using? Is is Flouro Fishing Line or Flouro Leader Material? Thank you for the great videos

    Hi Capt Ross. Love your videos. I do have a question on what size of dipsy divers you reccomend for walleye. I see there is a bunch of options and what my best option starting out would be. Thanks

      Dipsy size is dependent how quickly/ length of line out you want to get down to depth. Many people including myself prefer dreamweaver dipsy divers. They have charts on their website that give depth. I prefer 82mm and 107mm. Just be prepared the 107mm will pull like crazy so you need to have a rod and reel that can handle that size.

    Ok, can I use a snap swivel to connect my mainline and a snap swivel to connect to trip lever, and just a snap connection to my lure. Ive seen some use snap swivel on both sides of diver

    Hi I never used Dipsy Divers before but thinking of using them here in Ireland for pike and lake trout, my question is have they ever been used for them Species and do the colours of the divers make a difference?

    Great video. I have a question? I fish mainly the central basin, from conneaut harbor to walnut marina in pa , my question is usually most people fish from sun up to mid afternoon, or when they limit out, we were thinking about doing a afternoon trip , have ever had a good afternoon trip , or should we stick to a morning bite ?

      @@Bigwaterfishing thank you for your reply, correct me if I am wrong , I am a newbie at this with dipseys, if fishing port side you set dipseys at a right setting, and starboard at left setting. right.

    Would you go over when you would use dipsy divers vs planer boards for walleyes? Outside of dipsy’s being larger more intrusive is there a major reason to use one over the other?

      Long answer....simply put dilsy get deep quick and let you spin back on a small pod quicker
      I usually use both together in late summer and early fall

    Why don't you use snubbers? Do you only use a snap at the lure end of the leader or do you use a snap swivel for spoons or anything?

    • @Bigwaterfishing
      @Bigwaterfishing  3 года назад +1

      No need 4 snubber...snap only for all lures
