Nah nah nah the true experience is being a kid growing up in the 90s early 2000s with no Internet finding kh1 at a game store waiting years for a sequel seeing an ad for kh2 playing the game being bat shit confused on the intro of the game like who the fuck is that scythe guy wtf is castle oblivion who's this roxas guy only to find out that there was an in-between game that came out on the fucking game boy advance then they made a remake of chain of memories that was a japan exclusive that only had the characters speaking Japanese so my young ass was horrified hearing Japanese Donald and goofy lmao but yeah kh was the absolute fucking worst franchise to understand for chronology and consistency as a kid/young teen

As someone who has done a Critical Mode level 1 playthrough... I can promise you that she is not the first person to get a Mickey tag-in going through Beast's Castle.

Most of the reason Crit Level 1 in KH2 isn't as insane as it could be is because of the devs expert placement of damage floors. A lot of the bosses and enemies have damage floors higher than a Level 1 Sora's stats and will secretly boost Sora's power up to that point to always give him meaningful damage, something that wasn't seen since until 3's ReMind DLC with the superbosses
@@CopyCatPhantom But there isn't such a thing in Kh2. There is a minimum amount of damage you will do to ennemies, which means you never will do chip damage. But that's not related to the Exp Zero ability. There are buffs related to Exp Zero in Kh1, Birth by Sleep and maybe others, but Kh2 just doesn't have that. The ability truly just stop giving you exp.
As a diehard KH fan (I know, I know) it's super fun to see someone play it for the first time. It's especially fun when the someone goes in without prejudice that it's "too silly" like Miss Girlfriend :)
To be fair, the references in this game to Birth By Sleep came out BEFORE Birth By Sleep did. It was just as confusing for current players back then as it is to new players now.
The cutscene of Xemnas visiting Aqua's armor wasn't added until the Final Mix version later. I don't know the time frame in Japan between that and BBS, but at least for the West we got it after

I would not blame her one bit if she watched the cutscenes only. Personally, I do not find Chain of Memories fun. Not the GBA original, not the remake. 358/2 days plays surprisingly well considering it is a DS title (Re:coded is even better in terms of gameplay.)
I’m gonna say no to that one. Better to just look at the summaries in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 final mix. Because the series storyline gets so far up its own ass that it’s difficult to keep everything straight. Better to give new players the sparknotes instead of a decade worth of handheld bullshit.

It's so weird to see older stuff not using anything similar to phones because back then you'd just say bye then you never know when you gonna see them again. Now everyone is always connected so it's weird to even think about a world where you have no way of instantly contact people you care about.
The thing I find funniest about Kingdom Hearts is that it has a story more complicated than any Final Fantasy mainline title but you apply a coat of Disney paint and now you have children and girlfriends having to deal with all the puzzles and exintential dread lol
So for anyone confused why the checkpointing is so dumb in this game sometimes, it's because the game will put you back into the last room that you entered before the encounter you died in. The intention is so you can update your abilites and such. The issue comes from when there's a long strech without a safe spot, so you get the utter bullshit checkpointing before the Demyx fight. The other issue is that it loads you back to when you first entered that room, which means you have to go back and re-equip all of your stuff. We don't get the option to just retry a fight until Birth By Sleep, and it's really stupid that they never added it back to the older games.
Let your gf do the tutorial for Re:CoM and then after she’s done with Traverse Town, make her a sonic blade deck and I guarantee you’ll both have alot of fun

Out of all the people I've seen play this game I don't think I've ever seen someone tackle the worlds out of order. They usually take one look at the recommended level and take the easiest one first. So she got a unique experience, I guess.
35:33 sleeping is always the answer. Everytime I've gotten stuck in a Souls game or in KH I'd always sleep and whenever I woke up I'd typically do it in 1-2 tries. The magic of your brain remembering patterns as you sleep

Skipping Chain of Memories and playing it later can make more sense if you think about how Sora forgot about COM due to namine. So playing it without knowing what happens is alot like Sora not remembering in 2 til later

It's honestly a ton of fun. It wouldn't be a very original experience, but it would be the best way to experience it

One cool thing to note is that the different nobodies you fight across the world are based off of different Organisation members like snipers for Xigbar, card minigame for Luxord, etc. The ones that blocked off Donald and Goofy before the Roxas fight just also happen to duel wield and have the same "The end" minigame with the command menu.

Demyx was DEFINITELY a battle I struggled with way more than I thought I should when I came back to play the remixed game as an adult. Not the hardest fight in the game, but literally one of only two major sticking points for me in 2.5 Remix.

To me you did the perfect choice. It is so much more interesting to play kh 2 before COM so you are in the same mindset and ask for questions like our 3 protagonists. This is the best way to first experience KH2 to me.

Skipping Chain of Memories and playing it later can make more sense if you think about how Sora forgot about COM due to namine. So playing it without knowing what happens is alot like Sora not remembering in 2 til later

Edit: Her reaction to the Roxas/Sora reveal is insanely amazing, aaaaah! Here's hoping she plays 358/2 Days! There's ways to play it a lot smoother now that increase the quality of life for gameplay, but honestly I just wanna see her see all of the moments in the game.
Probably no 358/2 as it was not "remastered" and is just a cutscene movie in the 1.5 Final Mix collection
@@TheGoddess0fWar There's a pretty good "remastering" fan version of it called Melon Mix. They basically mix the OG version, replaced some textures, and placed the HD cutscenes into the game. It's honestly a ton of fun. It wouldn't be a very original experience, but it would be the best way to experience it

To be honest, Chain of Memories on the GBA was actually my first Kingdom Hearts game. I wouldnt get to play Kingdom Hearts 1 or 2 until 2008 or 2009

From what I’ve heard, Demyx is widely considered to be one of the most difficult required bosses in KH2

One cool thing to note is that the different nobodies you fight across the world are based off of different Organisation members like snipers for Xigbar, card minigame for Luxord, etc. The ones that blocked off Donald and Goofy before the Roxas fight just also happen to duel wield and have the same "The end" minigame with the command menu.

Demyx was DEFINITELY a battle I struggled with way more than I thought I should when I came back to play the remixed game as an adult. Not the hardest fight in the game, but literally one of only two major sticking points for me in 2.5 Remix.

I def want to see her try the combat of CoM lmao. But I also want to see her reaction to the 358/2 Days movie. It would've been better if she could play 358/2 Days, but alas, they didn't want to remake the whole game. sadge
To me you did the perfect choice. It is so much more interesting to play kh 2 before COM so you are in the same mindset and ask for questions like our 3 protagonists. This is the best way to first experience KH2 to me.
