@Kittycat gaming she has the determination, no matter how long it took she'd be able to do it for sure, the challenge is if she can be the murder machine and can her consciousness take it
Her saying "Tarn stay determined" in the room with the coffins got me a little choked up, It's like she's turning to comforting herself with the games words 😭
2:13 For the Uninitiated, that's the face Goat Mom makes when she kills your character. That's only doable by deliberately moving into her attacks at low health, since she will start pulling her punches then.
Deliberately? I made the exact same mistake as her fighting Toriel and died. I blame panic. I was even panicking too hard to realize the expression shift, so I'm glad the timestamp was posted. I was also too much of a coward to face Papyrus so my file will forever live in Snowdin.
I've heard it's only possible if you start your turn at 8 hp, because higher is too high for Tutoriel to kill you, and below that point she actively checks for your hp and makes her attacks weaker.
19:07 the fact that she immediately goes to the mercy button without any hesitation warmed my heart beyond belief Edit: I will never be able to experience this game for the first time again, but seeing this first time playthrough of it really gave me that feeling again. I havent cried at the Asriel hug in a long time, since I always knew it was coming. But apparently, after a few years of not seeing this game and then watching someone new experience it, it definitely got to me. thank you guys for playing this
I don't think I would have the heart to make her do the other route. This is just too cute. And the whole point of that one is that your actions are permanent, and they always have consequences, including infecting everything you did in the past, and into the future, unless you straight up reset the game files. I think that she will have to choose to do it if she's curious.

Never played the game myself. But i watched a full playthrough of the true ending. The themes of this game were 1000% a formative event even though i was already older when i saw it. As a bleeding heart idealist trying to make my days a little brighter, "Despite everything, it's still you." broke me in ways my own mind can't begin to process.
Um sorry to tell you this? But there isn't a "true" ending 2015-2016 players know what I'm talking about, basically while yes there's a kind of a good neutral and bad ending ALL OF THEM ARE CONNECTED. Here's the thing like that guy said it knows that it's a game, so yes all "endings" are connected and the final ending is the bad ending the "true ending" that you might be talking about is pacifist right? Cause of yes then no, the true ending is IF you're gonna make that ending the ending you end you're game, to me what i consider the true ending is the bad ending cause well it is all true the story is supposed to be Neutral, true pacifist, no mercy, paci/no mercy true (aka the you tried to fix you're problems that you made but you can never fix it and is trying to blame it on the 1st fallen human) that's canon ending and what most fans see as the Canon one.
Play the game there’s more endings on whatever you do in the game. Over 70 endings. 2 main ones, the pacifist and the other one (not naming) also the guy cuts a lot of parts out so go play the game
As someone who watched countless playthroughs of this game before ever getting it personally (basically I'm poor lmao), including the main neutral and genocide endings, and also as someone who this game is so very dear to, I cannot stress enough what a treat it was to revisit it with my own hands - backtracking for that one last conversation was perhaps my favorite part. Your girlfriend sounds like she played the game _exactly_ like I did - went into because you didn't have to kill the enemies, desperately forced my friendship upon enemies designed to make you give up (Toriel, Undyne) after dying about a million times, spending literal hours checking every shred of dialogue because I wanted the _story_ .... and dying a ridiculous amount of times to "easy" enemies because I am so bad at video games that it's not even funny lol. YES, the day has finally come! ❤ It's always interesting to see more people discover the game. The community has a pretty bad past with being pretty toxic and overcautious with new players not playing like they "should" but thankfully it's all mostly in the past now 🙂 Undertale is an unforgettable journey that's worth experiencing. I'm glad it exists, beacuse I know it helped a lot of people I'm wondering about your girlfriend's reaction to Toby's second game- deltarune considering it's take on the genre and the topic of choices in videogames. Of course the game isn't finished yet so you could either wait for the full release or convince her to play the first 2 that are available for now. no matter how many times i play this game, no matter how many years i've been in the community, this game still makes me cry beyond anything in the entire world and i couldn't be happier about it
Amazing as always! In the theme of solo developers with wacky but fascinating ideas - Both 'Papers Please' and 'Return of the Obra Dinn' are really interesting games, both made by Lucas Pope. Although they are on the darker side compared to the uplifting tale that Undertale can be
Oh my god thinking that Asgore prepared a coffin for us, I remember that ! That's absolutely not what it is but at that point in the game, you can't know. I fell for it the first time too.
Watching a playthrough of one of my favorite games from 2015 made me cry once again.. I can't believe this.. Amazing playthrough. You've given us a trip to memory lane and reminded us of the power of compassion even against enemies.
He better not ever force her to do one. The entire point of this game is that you have a choice, and you're really just as evil for doing a genocide run for the sake of it as if you were doing it for entertainment.
I’ve never seen Toriel’s reaction to when you die in her battle at 5:20. I thought I’ve seen everything in Undertale and yet I’m still seeing new things!
Tarn during the pacifist ending: It's all my friends!!! Nooooo!!! All my friends!!! *_GASP_* All of my friends!!! NOOOOO!!! ALL OF MY FRIENDS! *_OH MY GOD IT'S MY FRIENDS!!!_* (Cries from goat hug)
Undertake has some crazy good first impressions and is one of the only RPGs that let you choose how you play with differing endings doing so, combined with her funny reactions this makes a good video.
I know I'm very late to this party, but I'd like to say, this video made me SOB, and I'm not joking. Tears are running down my face as I write this. I'm not quite sure why this video, at the end in the Asriel fight scene, made me start crying, but it did. Seeing her reactions to the end of the game, the beautiful editing to make the fight even more special, just really got to me. I can't believe that someone with so little experience in gaming playing one of my favorite games of all time made me so emotional and happy. I knew I loved watching people play games for the first time, but it's certainly special watching someone with so little experience and knowledge on gaming as a whole play a game like Undertale. Thank you, for having her play
This brings back so many memories of when I first played undertale! It's so great seeing what everyone does differently in here. One other RPG that I really recommend is OMORI, I would love to see one of you play it! :D
Guys tbh last 2 week i ve been sleeping on you guys videos i dont mean its boring or anything after all when i wake up i watch it 2 times But you guys video are so chill and relaxing like not like the other youtubers that screams or be loud, keep going
daaaaaaannnnggg, first off her reactions are adorable, second, why you do this to my heart? xD Seeing someone play this game for the first time and genuinely take the pacifist route always warms my heart, that sweet sweet nostalgia just echos through time and space, this 20 minute vid is awesome 👍👍
this made me cry and brim with nostalgia, she reacted the exact same way i did during my first playthrough of undertale and it really means a lot to me to see people enjoying this game and experiencing it for the first time in 2023, long live undertale
Seeing this makes me remember the game and how it made me feel when i played it, just a roller-coaster of emotions. It also makes me wonder what she'd think of Deltarune?
This. This was what Undertale was about. This video is extremely heartwarming, and for all those that Undertale has marked them in their lives, its extremely important too. This is what Undertale intended to be, a way to choose your own path, your own emotions, and see the consequences for that. About following what you believe in. It's a lesson, and a journey, and I'm so glad that Taryn has found hers, and with that, has showed us and helped us learn, and remember. Thank you for this. I really appreciate it.
My first run I was also tripped up at the Toriel fight, accidentally killed her (I thought maybe if I fought her down to a certain level, it would let me spare her), and reloaded my save. The heart attack I had when Flowey called me out after the fight D: !!!! Too rood, Toby Fox!
or even accidentally thinking she would give up at the end if you lowered her health enough, a common trope in such situations from many RPGs. Oh fkn boy was that a trap.
The Toriel fight is brilliant because one of three things happens: 1. You kill her, classic RPG style, feel remorse about it but assume the game is a regular RPG.... only to get blasted in the heart over and over again realizing it didn't have to be like this. 2. You _accidentally_ kill her, can't accept the outcome, and reset the game to find another way - leading you to discover that Undertale _remembers_ and encouraging you to use your resets to your advantage and to add to the experience. 3. You somehow manage to "brute force" your way through to sparing her, then the concept of spare-able bosses is completely solidified in your mind, and you even have a basic knowledge of how to do this now (noticing that dialogue changes when you're doing something right). This basically supercharges your pacifist quest and helps you not give up... then pulls a 180 on you and stabs you right through the heart during Asgore's battle. 100/10 absolutely amazing first boss of a game
@The Drawing Dragon the game subverting prior rpg expectations and then subverting its own established expectations later on is one of the best parts of the game.
I'm so glad she got to experience the game! It's a game near and dear to my heart but more than that I love seeing the reactions other people have to it. It's really well written and super fun! So glad she stayed determined
A while back, Razbuten made a video that undertale was not suited for newcomers. I highly, highly disagreed, because Tarn here showed that while you won't have the feeling of rpg being used to be a twist, Undertale's most natural and fun mechanics is actually to play the mercy route, so newcomers gets funneled to that route. Tarn's way of approaching Toriel was the exact same as my girlfriend and my own as well, mercy is the only way to get new textbox, so of course, that's the approach we must take. But regular rpg players would've broke their pacifist run with Toriel because RPG players don't care to experimentation, and just want progression and levels. Something that is completely lost to newcomers of games.
My first playthough was unintentionally with bad ending and was devastating. And year since that I don't think that replaying for good ending make difference for me, i'm still will feel bad for it. I'm glad that some of us played as true pacifist for first time. Thanks for video, you made me a little happier now
I am pretty sure that if you do a genocide route first you need to clear all the cache about the game in your computer or else you can't have a true pacifist ending, because the game will remember that you did a genocide run before.
YES ❤ I don't know why she hadn't played Undertale until now. But I guess she'd appreciate it more now that she's a certified Gamer™ I still haven't watched the video, but I'll predict it contains laughter, tears, and a healthy dose of screaming.
Oh, wow, watching this brought back many memories of when I played Undertale for the first time years ago. I was playing it along with a friend. It was a lot of fun!
Toriel is an interesting boss fight, one that checks your video game literacy. A complete noob (like girlfriend. thats not a bad thing.) is not going to know when the game is telling them they are making the wrong choice, and get rewarded with the real fight and solution. Someone who is comfortable with games will see the cue to change tactics and take it at face value, locking themselves into the neutral route. Finally, it comes back around to the gaming veterans, ones who see every little detail the game is offering. A frog talking of a fight where you must spare even if the monster does not accept it. Very minor changes to the dialogue with every attempt proving the game is changing. A veteran and noob are on the same level, one through ignorance and the other through hyper-awareness, both have the chance to see the true pacifist run immediately after the neutral run. All that is left to determine is the definition of "veteran". Undertale is not the first game to mess with the player's perceptions, and it wont be the last, either. You pointed out Neir's installment of true fear at losing a save file, but that is only one example.
Having played games literally all my life, seeing such a different perspective is so weird. Also love the fact that she has played Nier: Automata before this as well.
I’ve never seen someone do a full pacifist run the first time, heartwarming

You managed to make me cry over this game all over again. A big ugly cry over the power of friendship, felt cathartic. Thanks!
This channel always manages to restore my faith in humanity in bad times.
Thank you
Undertale is such a special game, I'm glad Girlfriend got to experience it blind even after all these years
“Give the baby goat a hug.”
My view of Asriel will never be the same…
And I ain’t even mad!
If "murdering all of them ending" is next on the list then there will be tears
"That's so cute"
people waiting for the Genocide route: *I'ma finish this woman's whole career*
Love to see you 2 playing it
Next time try OneShot
Really good story driven puzzle game that breaks the fourth wall and also hits you right in the feels
Should also be played twice :D
no matter how many times i play this game, no matter how many years i've been in the community, this game still makes me cry beyond anything in the entire world
and i couldn't be happier about it
This is really cool! I would of liked to see a full uncut version with all of her deaths and everything.
yaaaaaaaas
She is so sweet and genuinely caring of everyone made me cry. Bless her heart.
Amazing as always! In the theme of solo developers with wacky but fascinating ideas - Both 'Papers Please' and 'Return of the Obra Dinn' are really interesting games, both made by Lucas Pope. Although they are on the darker side compared to the uplifting tale that Undertale can be
Oooh those are great suggestions, thanks oleg! :)
Oh my god thinking that Asgore prepared a coffin for us, I remember that ! That's absolutely not what it is but at that point in the game, you can't know. I fell for it the first time too.
This one I'd LOVE to see the full playthrough!
yes please!!!
Watching a playthrough of one of my favorite games from 2015 made me cry once again.. I can't believe this.. Amazing playthrough. You've given us a trip to memory lane and reminded us of the power of compassion even against enemies.
The ending makes me cry every time even when someone else is playing!
The genocide run is going to be rough, I can already tell.
He better not ever force her to do one. The entire point of this game is that you have a choice, and you're really just as evil for doing a genocide run for the sake of it as if you were doing it for entertainment.

“I have a gun!”
I will beat them with the power of love _and_ this gun I got!
I’ve never seen Toriel’s reaction to when you die in her battle at 5:20. I thought I’ve seen everything in Undertale and yet I’m still seeing new things!
Tarn during the pacifist ending:
It's all my friends!!!
Nooooo!!! All my friends!!!
*_GASP_* All of my friends!!!
NOOOOO!!! ALL OF MY FRIENDS!
*_OH MY GOD IT'S MY FRIENDS!!!_*
(Cries from goat hug)
Undertake has some crazy good first impressions and is one of the only RPGs that let you choose how you play with differing endings doing so, combined with her funny reactions this makes a good video.
your girlfriend: doesnt want to hurt anyone
also your girlfriend: HELL YEAH I HAVE A GUN
Guys tbh last 2 week i ve been sleeping on you guys videos i dont mean its boring or anything after all when i wake up i watch it 2 times
But you guys video are so chill and relaxing like not like the other youtubers that screams or be loud, keep going
reviewing all the most moving scenes, especially the final ones made me cry again
daaaaaaannnnggg, first off her reactions are adorable, second, why you do this to my heart? xD
Seeing someone play this game for the first time and genuinely take the pacifist route always warms my heart, that sweet sweet nostalgia just echos through time and space, this 20 minute vid is awesome 👍👍
Gotta L.O.V.E. Undertale. Such beautiful flowers.
Level Of Violence and Ebola
this made me cry and brim with nostalgia, she reacted the exact same way i did during my first playthrough of undertale and it really means a lot to me to see people enjoying this game and experiencing it for the first time in 2023, long live undertale
i would love to see the full playthrough of this
Seeing this makes me remember the game and how it made me feel when i played it, just a roller-coaster of emotions.
It also makes me wonder what she'd think of Deltarune?
Despite never having played Undertale, i knew it'd be her kinda game.
YOUR GIRLFRINED HAS SUCH A KIND HEART!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
My first run I was also tripped up at the Toriel fight, accidentally killed her (I thought maybe if I fought her down to a certain level, it would let me spare her), and reloaded my save. The heart attack I had when Flowey called me out after the fight D: !!!! Too rood, Toby Fox!
Honestly i'm genuinely surprised she didn't kill Toriel. I think i speak for most of us that played blind that we uh... didn't do that. _Yeah._
or even accidentally thinking she would give up at the end if you lowered her health enough, a common trope in such situations from many RPGs. Oh fkn boy was that a trap.
The Toriel fight is brilliant because one of three things happens:
I THOUGHT IT WAS LIKE POKEMON
Now this?
This is beautiful. Thank you for posting this.
next step in fourth wall breaking her has gotta be DDLC
i love the dr doofenshmirtz referens. 17:09
also i love your videos, they make me very happy
My first playthough was unintentionally with bad ending and was devastating. And year since that I don't think that replaying for good ending make difference for me, i'm still will feel bad for it. I'm glad that some of us played as true pacifist for first time. Thanks for video, you made me a little happier now
I am pretty sure that if you do a genocide route first you need to clear all the cache about the game in your computer or else you can't have a true pacifist ending, because the game will remember that you did a genocide run before.
@@cainakubiaki clear the cache and cloud,
@@cainakubiaki it wasn't genocide run, I've spare a lot of enemies, but killed as many as saved. The most I regret about Toriel 😭
So kill everyone instead
I spat out my water when she said “i’m so bad at dodging the little balls :(“ cause i wasn’t paying attention and i just heard that randomly
YES ❤
I don't know why she hadn't played Undertale until now. But I guess she'd appreciate it more now that she's a certified Gamer™
I still haven't watched the video, but I'll predict it contains laughter, tears, and a healthy dose of screaming.
This video reminds me of how good the game is and how much I love it.
Ooo I'm so excited for this one!!! I hope you do Deltarune next :D
Maybe she could revisit this game one day and have a bad time...
Papyrus: Your madly in love with me.
Her: Yes Papyrus.
12:15
Now she has to play Deltarune.
Imagine her reaction to Susie
@@xaviidklol
She’s gonna become the next ralsei
yessss
Unironically, on my first run the hardest fight was the greater dog. I kid you not
You made her play both the Normal and pacifist routes, you cant quit now you got one more ending to get
This video has my favourite things in it, undertale, newbies reactions and isaac music, thanks for it :)
Damn, your girlfriend played more games than ma at this point.
"And why is my name frisk?" HOOOOO BOY THATS A LOADED QUESTION
