Sidenote, not being big on Animal Crossing (last one I put a lot of time into was Wild World) this video prompted me to look up if Resetti actually has a wife/girlfriend.
I think there is a real argument to be made that Ghetsis is harder than Cynthia Sure Ghetsis might be quite a bit weaker if you compare their teams side by side but other factors like the new exp system making it harder to over level a Pokémon, the limited options to counter his Hydreigon which doesn’t have a 4x weakness unlike Garchomp and is faster than a vast majority of the potential counters alongside having a much better move-set than Cynthia’s Garchomp which is super effective against most types in the game add up to make the fight with Ghetsis just as hard if not harder than the fight with Cynthia in DPPT
Maybe when it was new but definitely not now Ultra necro, Leon (only if underleveled), bdsp Cynthia, volo, and Kieran are all way harder, and that's just final bosses (or well, story climaxes for ultra necrozma)
@@HowManySmall I was talking based on ingame context. Now, granted, I haven't played the DLC for SV (I assume that's where Kieran is from), but there are two things that made me put Ghetsis above all the others: - his Hydreigon is faster than almost anything else you can reasonably get AND has an atypical amount of coverage to bolster its high attacking stats. Not even the legendary is enough to beat it on its own without some luck, as seen in the video. Garchomp is powerful, but it doesn't have coverage. Ultra Necro oneshots most mons, but can be cheesed (even unintentionally) by the game's mechanics. - His team makes setting up and just sweeping a lot harder, because Hydreigon isn't his first mon and isn't even set to be his last (meaning after it tore through your team, the rest may be too much). His Cofagrigus having Toxic is specifically so you can't reliably set up and sweep, plus the slot is forced to be occupied by the legendary. Volo is likely stronger, but he is also that game's final final boss, which means you can overprepare for him in a way you can't for Ghetsis and the context is also way different.
@@HowManySmallI fought Cynthia for four hours and still couldn't win. The rest of them I beat on the first try. I have video evidence of Cynthia, Volo, and Kieran

The majority of people kind of bashed it on release. The lack of hate you’re seeing now is because everyone realized they were whining about it for no reason
@@dyllangames3592 It's the worst-performing main series game and received tons of hate on release. Most of us who grew up on it (with it being our first or second game) weren't old enough to see the hate--but it was there. The designs were criticized as lazy and cheap imitations, and the first game only having Unova pokemon before the post-game was considered a horrible decision by many. The map was too linear, and the story was too edgy, or the rivals were too nice... there were loads of complaints, from valid to just ridiculous. Now most people who may have hated it realize the amount of love that was put into it and how genuinely amazing it was, and those of us who grew up on it and loved it can share our voice online too.
Something about listening to Taryn explore each game completely fresh brings me back to the childhood wonder of playing the game for the first time myself. These videos are so precious thank you for them 🤠🫶
Her reaction, brought back my inner child. I loved Gen 5, and it is still my favorite gen. I really don't be commenting at all, but I honestly just want to say, Thank you for this video.
On over levelling, even though it all balanced out in the end, you could implement a level cap tied to the next gym or next major opponent. Great effort by Taryn and the team though! That paralysis was clutch!
i gotta say, for the longest time i've been a hardcore gen 5 disliker because when i initially played it as a kid i struggled to see past a lot of the early game clunk and none of my reattempts got very far due to similar frustrations. however, seeing taryn enjoy it so, so much has really changed my perspective on how i've been choosing to remember these games and i feel a lot more encouraged to give them one more honest try with fresh eyes and see if its charms can finally click for me (and then hopefully take on the sequels). thanks
You haveee to have her play black two. Haven’t even watched the video yet but I’ve been waiting for yall to play this gen since the first vid. Reminds me of when I first played haha.
Gen V has grown so much on me and I’d say is my favorite. When I first saw it, I’ll admit I judged all the new pokemon hard (and thought the ice cream cone was so stupid). After playing it, I still wasn’t the biggest fan of the new pokemon, but I fell in love with the story and characters. Eventually, I grew to admire how ambitious this new Gen was and even love this Pokédex now (even the ice cream cone and gears).
The last battle was absolutely insane. The fact that the fight banked on a 30% chance due to it being a blind run made it extremely entertaining. I would really love to see the next run have a limit on item usage to make it a bit more challenging since the outcome definitely would have been different if she hadn’t made that phenomenal decision to hyper potion the Reshiram
Pokémon Peaked with Platinum, HGSS, BW1, and BW2. They had the best content and best art styles that still hold up today over most 3D titles. The worst part is that we 100% took it for granted at the time.

God gen 5 was so peak. The animated sprites with so much personality, the absolutely bumping music, the new uncoventional storyline with a direct numbered sequel, the massive new pokedex variety, we didnt know how good we had it. I love Tarny's reactions to this game so much. The way she gets so hype over the new pokemon and cool story beats is so cute and makes me feel so nostalgic for the time I first played this game all the way back in like 5th grade when I was 10. I just appreciate so much how her being a newer fan of pokemon and a lot of games in general means she's not yet jaded to so many things a lot of us are just kinda used to or act super picky about. She makes it feel like how it did when I was younger and didn't have as many preconceptions about games and everything was still exciting and new. This video just makes me smile so much :)))
Been on a boy meets girl binge lately and really think these nuzlockes could be some of the best content to date. Between the nostalgia of the original DS pokemon games and the high and lows presented throughout (that paralysis on hydreigon to save the run in the final battle was nuts) really hope you two continue to put out such wonderful wholesome vids!❤
This is a hall of fame in the game. After the credits you have to fight the elite 4 again and then fight the actual champion Alder as the real final battle. Then you become champion and you actually beat the game.
She saw the out with paralysis, and my GOD WAS IT HYPE!!!! Seeing her reaction to a game I truly adore so much is so heartwarming. She played out of her mind, and I hope she had a great time with it, because I sure had a great time watching this playthrough
def have her play black 2 next! the love coming back around for gen 5 as a whole is great and everything about black 2 makes it one of the best in the series, if not the pinnacle graphics/music wise.
You're good at voice-over and she's the funnest to let's play games. This series and any role-playing game like Mass Effeft are always such banger videos.
5th Gen was arguably the best generation of the Pokémon series with regard to story and music. The content could have been fleshed out a bit more and there could have been a better "meta" than the overwhelming amount of dark types as is the gripe of many of the haters. But none of that takes away from the majesty of the overall design imo. Grats on the new journey and victory, looking forward to the next!
The story really takes a downturn in the final act for me. The whole game we're constantly built up on the idea of "nothing is ever black and white". It NEEDS a morally grey villain for that. Instead it gives us the most evil sumbitch in the franchise.
Great video! I love gen 5. I'd have liked to see her play through the post game, though, since you explore the east half of the region there, as well as the league rematches, the actual champion, the hall of fame and a certain lady on a beach house that scared several people when first encountered. Gen 5 has so much post game content; I really miss that from modern games.
Finally Gen 5 ❤ it's actually my favourite and I was wondering if there'd be a video with it! Edit: I finished the video now and I am so glad Ghetsis didn't win 🥳 also, this is probably one of my favourite videos of yours. It was so entertaining and I was actually on the edge of my seat. I am somehow very very happy you both enjoyed Gen 5 so far. I love it so much and I love seeing other people appreciate and enjoy the gorgeous region design, the phenomenal music, the characters and the story so much. This really was PEAK pokemon imo. So sad that at that time people couldn't appreciate it and I am glad that by now the Gen gets so much more love from the fans. I hope y'all make a video on Black 2 as well.
I come with a recommendation for Tarny's next game! After hearing how much she loved the soundtrack, it made me think of Persona 5! (or any of them) sure, it's longer, but I could definitely see her enjoying the social aspect of it, and I think it would make for an interesting video!

Welcome to the best generation in the series. There are so many cool things in these games. Like how N only uses Pokemon from the route you're battling him in, Ghetsis' Hydreigon uses Frustraion (Frustration's power is based on how much the Pokemon hates its trainer, it could also means that his Pokemon really hates him). This game means so much to me.
That Terraria OST in the final battle was both an amazing choice and a great find. Amazing video. Your Girlfriend shows such joy in playing Pokemon that it makes me want to get back into it. You too, near the Paralyze beat in the end. Love the Video.
I like the fact that Gen 5 was treated poorly by the fanbase back when it first came out and now years later because of the jank and lazy 3D era of Pokemon, people finally give Unova the love and respect it deserves.

Ultra necro, Leon (only if underleveled), bdsp Cynthia, volo, and Kieran are all way harder, and that's just final bosses (or well, story climaxes for ultra necrozma)
@@HowManySmall I was talking based on ingame context. Now, granted, I haven't played the DLC for SV (I assume that's where Kieran is from), but there are two things that made me put Ghetsis above all the others:
- his Hydreigon is faster than almost anything else you can reasonably get AND has an atypical amount of coverage to bolster its high attacking stats.

SO glad to see that tarny is enjoying gen 5! like many other people, its a very special generation to me and seeing her approach it with so much enthusiasm is really heartwarming. i can't wait for the black 2 playthrough!
This is my fovrite Gen story-wise mainly because of N, he's my favorite pokemon character ever.
I bet you really like the new Masters event where N decides to latch onto Arven
I think all of the Gen 5 characters are charming and interesting besides the sages and triad. Yancey and Curtis are my favorite side characters just due to how removed they are from the rest of BW2 while having a cute chain of events.
@@BJGvideosAs much as I like Masters I think mainline game fans barely know it exists and even think it's bad hehe.
Taryn's genuine enjoyment of this region was so amazing I actually remembered feeling the exact same way which was so special to be able to relive 💗
Dudeeeee that clutch paralysis was wild. Great vid! Bw and bw2 are my all time favorites. Always cool to see people experience gen 5.
She finally felt the terror of Caitlin's Reuniclus Focus Miss connecting 🤣
I swear my first time against her was a nightmare. I was 10 and went to the League with only a Serperior, a Boldore (that I didn’t know could evolve) and a female Unfezant, it was the equivalent of a Souls boss.
@@rullocompressore1550 Not only Caitlyn, we also have :
- Marshall with his Sturdy Sawk with Stone Edge for your beloved flying type.
- Shauntal having Energy Ball with Chandelure for your water type.
- I forgot about grimsley 👀
@@blameitondanny to be fair all Pokémon with high physical defense were not a problem because my serperior was waaaay over leveled and with energy ball was one shotting most things. I even thought that grass was super effective against ice because everything went down so easily (until the gym leader)
@@blameitondanny Honestly I always found Grimsley to be super free, then I wiped to him in an egglocke...
idc what anyone says, the story, ambiance, and ghetsis’ theme made his battle one of the scariest and high-stakes battle i ever had to fight in a pokemon game and i stand by that 😭
Seeing someone genuinely enjoy and like the game and not bash it for whatever reason is so refreshing. I've been playing this game since I was 8 and she's better than me😂
I've seen no one ever hate on Black and white/b2w2. They're seen as some of the BEST games in the series for 99% of people
@@dyllangames3592 these people have no standards
no pokemon game (made by gamefreak) is of "high quality"
@@dyllangames3592 You are not paying attention then. It is definitely not 99% it has been a 50/50 split with the fandom since it came out.
The editing on the elite 4 fight is fantastic. And that last fight had me on the edge of my seat.
The hollow bastion music 😭 It will always give me goosebumps
This channel makes me re-experience the pokemon franchise as if I was a kid playing it for the first time again.
This video is maybe the most fun yet of the Pokemon series!! I'm glad Taryn enjoyed Unova so much!
She already predicted the next gen in the first min lol 😂
"Never before seen Fire/Fighting"
Combusken: ... am I a joke to you?
Monferno: I think that _is_ the joke.
i gotta say, for the longest time i've been a hardcore gen 5 disliker because when i initially played it as a kid i struggled to see past a lot of the early game clunk and none of my reattempts got very far due to similar frustrations. however, seeing taryn enjoy it so, so much has really changed my perspective on how i've been choosing to remember these games and i feel a lot more encouraged to give them one more honest try with fresh eyes and see if its charms can finally click for me (and then hopefully take on the sequels).
I think, based on the rules the hyper item usage is only IF the enemy also uses an item. If not then she isn't allowed to heal midbattle
Pokémon Peaked with Platinum, HGSS, BW1, and BW2. They had the best content and best art styles that still hold up today over most 3D titles.
The worst part is that we 100% took it for granted at the time.
They didn’t peak with those games every generation has its own unique charm
They’re all equal it’s not a competition and not everything has to be
@@madnessarcade7447 Comparing BW2 to Scarlett/Violet as “equals” is the worst take I’ve heard yet.
@@rasengdori13it’s not a competition both games have their own style in terms of story and sound track etc
They all have their own charm
It’s not a bad take u just want to make everything a competition instead of letting things just be and coexist
My favorite games are the ORAS remakes and BW2. Sadly never played gen 2...
It's been downhill ever since. Sad, really.
Her growth is amazing to watch watching this series back-to-back. It's always amazing how fun it is to introduce something to someone for the first time. One of the most amazing things in life, honestly.
Every time i am having a bad day Taryns laugh always makes my day 10 times better!
and having pokemon gameplay ontop of that just makes it even better
Was literally holding my breath during yhat ghetsis fight
Also.. editing the elite four battles together into splitscreen was lit
I NEED taryn's reaction for the fairy type in gen 6🙏🙏🙏 I bet shes gonna love it, or hate having to learn more about the type chart😅
I never got to finish this one ENTIRELY (which I regret) but that KH1 Hollow Bastion on the background was just 👌
Been on a boy meets girl binge lately and really think these nuzlockes could be some of the best content to date.
Now for Black 2 and white 2 for the next new journey ✨️
def have her play black 2 next! the love coming back around for gen 5 as a whole is great and everything about black 2 makes it one of the best in the series, if not the pinnacle graphics/music wise.
Your videos are some of my favorites on the platform! They have inspired me and my girlfriend to play more games and we've been having so much fun :)
You're good at voice-over and she's the funnest to let's play games. This series and any role-playing game like Mass Effeft are always such banger videos.
This is my most anticipated vid from u guys rn
5th Gen was arguably the best generation of the Pokémon series with regard to story and music. The content could have been fleshed out a bit more and there could have been a better "meta" than the overwhelming amount of dark types as is the gripe of many of the haters. But none of that takes away from the majesty of the overall design imo. Grats on the new journey and victory, looking forward to the next!
There’s no best they all have their own charm with story and music
I prefer Gens 4 and 6 when it comes to music, but Gen 5 is a good pick.
The story really takes a downturn in the final act for me. The whole game we're constantly built up on the idea of "nothing is ever black and white". It NEEDS a morally grey villain for that. Instead it gives us the most evil sumbitch in the franchise.
@@BJGvideos they tried, but they didnt go the entire mile
Great video! I love gen 5. I'd have liked to see her play through the post game, though, since you explore the east half of the region there, as well as the league rematches, the actual champion, the hall of fame and a certain lady on a beach house that scared several people when first encountered. Gen 5 has so much post game content; I really miss that from modern games.
Perhaps I treated you too harshly Pkmn B&W.
Taryn you're making us see this games with brand new eyes full of wonder, thank you ❤
11:04 Aww.. how intrigued I was to wanting to check out Tarny’s Pignite’s nature tho. 😊 He seems being obedient to Tarny’s command moves. ❤
It’s so refreshing seeing the childlike wonder I used to feel when playing Pokémon
METAGRASS IS SUCH A SMART NICKNAME!!! I have a shiny Ferroseed named Barbara
LETS GO
Also, you can get the Hall of Fame. You just have to fight the league again
This is my first time watching this series and omg I LOVE HER!!! Her excitement is so infectious and fun :) Also Ms Ressetti is such a funny name
“The next one is gonna be war” holy heck she’s right tho
Gen 5 proves to be a cut above once again. Loved these games.
B/W and B2/W2 is unironically my favorite gen, haters gonna hate
Gotta say. The editing is just right and the narration is perfect, love watching your videos.

What a amazing nuzlocke too!! Best of luck for any future nuzlockes! ✨✨
I have to say, i loved this episode! Gen 5 is my second favorite gen and it is very nostalgic for me, so seeing her enjoy it so much was a blast! Thank you, and good job
35:37 I love the little orange shade you added to the bottom of the sidebars to represent Reshiram, really cool detail!

I'm glad she enjoyed Black so much! I grew up on this game (and Pokemon Yellow on my gameboy oddly enough), so it warms my heart to see it be appreciated so much ❤
And that finale against Ghetsis was crazy! Never giving up until the very end!
Awesome video guys 👍
WE ARE SO BACK!!!!
BRO i dont know why the ending made me tear up man i miss feeling like that about pokemon man, genuinely hope you have her make the rest of the series because these videos are gold.

I cannot wait for Black and White 2 next!!!
My Arceus, I can't believe how caught up I get in these videos! I gasp and choke at every hard hit. I cheer and clap with the comebacks, like that PERFECTLY timed Paralysis!!!
Please keep these going!! 😄 Including ORAS and PLA! I want to see her reactions to the updated Gen 3, and the new mechanics in PLA!!!!

Taryn has improved sooo much since her first play through, it’s so impressive to see and I can’t wait to see how she’ll tackle the next few games. I also didn’t enjoy B&W too much during the release year however over the following years this game has grown a place in my heart
Not sure if I'd call it the best generation, but it was a good one. Especially for story and music.
His Hydreigon in Black/White 2 has 0 Friendship so yeah, he hates Ghetsis.
