It is unfortunate that some foreigners who understood the vast richness of the Vedas had researched into it, translated the results into English for us Indians. Had Sanskrit been encouraged and made the common language for all Indians the Vedas could have been interpreted accurately and for the benefit for all. Our advancement - scientifically and spiritually would have been unparalleled. Its not too late yet..

      Ved Vyas
The life history of Ved Vyas is an interesting one. The author of the great epic Mahabharata, Ved Vyas was the first and greatest acharya of Sanatan Dharma. He is responsible for classifying the four Vedas, wrote the 18 Puranas and recited the great Mahabharata. In fact, the Mahabharata is often called as the fifth Veda. The most important and the most glorified section is the Bhagwad Gita, the lesson recited to Arjuna by Lord Krishna on the battlefield. Apart from the Mahabharata, he also wrote the Brahmasootra, one of his shortest theologies on Hindu philosophy. It is said that Ved Vyas is immortal and he never died. Seeing the widespread violence in today's times, he is said to have retreated into some remote village in Northern India. The life of Ved Vyas is an example to all in the modern times on how to be selfless and devote oneself entirely to Lord in order to attain Nirvana. To know more about Vyas, continue to read this insightful biography on him.
      Personal Life
He is also known as Krishna Dvaipayana. Around some 5000 years ago, he was born in Damauli of Tanahi district, which is now in Nepal. The ancient cave that he wrote Mahabharata in still exists in Nepal. His father was Parashar Rishi, a sage and his mother was Satyavati. He taught the Vedas to his pupils with ardent devotion and dedication. It is said that Mahabharata is the 18th Puran that was written by Ved Vyas. He fathered four famous sons, Pandu, Dhritarashtra, Vidur and Sukhdev. Ved Vyas received knowledge from great sages like Vasudeva and Sanakadik. He described that the most important goal in one's life is to attain Narayana or the Divine Supreme.
      Major Work
Mahabharata: There is a cameo of Ved Vyasa himself in Mahabharata. He is considered as a part-incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is said that he came to the earth in Dwaparyuga to put all the Vedic knowledge in this universe in the form of written words and make it available to everyone. Before Ved Vyasa the Vedic knowledge only existed in the form of spoken words. He was the grandfather to Pandavas and Kauravas. He is called Ved Vyasa because he had split the original version of Vedas into four parts; Ved Vyasa literally means 'the splitter of Vedas'. It was because Ved Vyasa had split the Vedas that it became easy for people to understand it. This is how the divine knowledge was made available to everyone. It is still not clearly known whether Ved Vyasa had split the Vedas all by himself or if he did with the help of a group of scholars.
In Mahabharata, Vyasa's mother marries the king of Hastinapur and gives birth to two sons. Both the sons die and their wives are left with no children. She asks him to impregnate both the wives. Vyasa agrees to impregnate Amba and Ambika. He tells these girls to come in close proximity to him but alone. It was Ambika's turn first to go close to him and out to shyness she closes her eyes. Vyasa declares that the baby would be born blind--this child was called Dhritarashtra. Then it was Amba's turn. Although she was instructed by Ambalika to relax and calm herself down. But she was very nervous and her face becomes pale out of fear. Vyasa declares that the baby born out of this will be severely anemic and will certainly not be capable of running a kingdom--this was Pandu. This leads to the third attempt to make a healthy child but Amba and Ambika were so scared now that they sent a servant girl instead. This maid was confident and she gets impregnated with a healthy child--this was Vidura. He also had another son called Suka from sage Jabali's daughter called Pinjala. It is said that Ved Vyasa asked Lord Ganesha himself to help him in compilation of Mahabharata. But Ganesha had put one condition on him; he said that he will write Mahabharata for him if only he will narrate it to him without a single pause. To supersede this condition, Vyasa put another condition on him asking him to understand the verses even before he has recited them. This is how Mahabharata was written, Ved Vyasa narrated all the Upanishads and 18 Puranas continuously to Lord Ganesha.
Buddhism: There is also mention of Ved Vyasa in Buddhism. In the two of their Jataka tales called Kanha-dipayana and Ghata. He appeared as a Bodhisattva in Kanha-dipayana, which has no connection with his Hindu Vedic works and in Ghata Jakata his role has a close relation to Mahabharata. In Ghata, the Vrishnis plays a joke on Ved Vyasa to put his clairvoyance powers to test. They dress up a boy as a woman by tying a pillow to his belly. Then they took him to Vyasa and asked him if he could tell them when the baby is due. He tells then that the person in front of him will give birth to a knot of acaria wood and will destroy Vaasudeva's race. They kill him in the end but his divination came true.

Fascinating. I'm starting to appreciate India as the only (maybe not quite) culture that kept their original ancient knowledge. I'm Polish and I'm told that my pre Christian culture was worthless but you know what - we had Slavic Vedas too, even Polish word for "knowledge" is "wiedza" pronounced almost exactly the same as veda. Perhaps truly there was common ancient indoeuropean culture.

And what about Basque language ....isn't it is very alien kind of language? And how do we know that all these things are really true or partially made up shit? I'm Hindu by birth but I'm confused about all these things.

+shankar singh There's no way to see complete picture but I'm noticing common elements in slavic languages and culture with India but also with Egypt and others. At the moment my understanding is that there has been common global culture. It has been wiped out either by natural forces or more likely on purpose perhaps using natural forces (great global flood etc). Now in Poland we are like nation with amnesia, having no idea what was before christianization. We are told that there was nothing interesting before on those lands, just hunter gatherers with some silly pagan beliefs. Despite unavoidable corruption and evolution of ancient believes, to me India is still practically the only place where there is some connection to those ancient times. Well, some places in Tybet, some people groups in Africa and South America and native Americans in the US also maintained some connections but India by far gives me the best chance to learn about my own heritage. I used to look down at Indian culture falling into that lie that what civilization there is was brought by the English. Now it looks to me that they destroyed more than they introduced.

    • @shankarsingh418
      @shankarsingh418 8 лет назад +2

Yes, you can say that.....I think you are spiritual kind...but for me it's hard, what I see is same as you think about your country. And Hindu belief system is very complex and for me at least it's incomprehensible...there is no clear demarcation line between what is Hindu and what is not. And what was the knowledge of Hindu before Moslem and English invasion is hard to distinguish. And what I really don't get is that why Hindu elite class sage (brahman) kept scripture knowledge only to themselves. And until we don't have a complete picture, we can't loose our doubts!

_"It's strange that why ancient wise men is better than us?"_
They were not. At least not in the sense of "better" that implies that they actually understood more about reality. Their utter inability to create technologies proves conclusively that videos such as this one is a case of wishful thinking.
_"There is human evolution and those ancient great men had to teach their children. Therefore, these children who will grow up in the future must be getting smarter and smarter as time goes by."_
Evolution has nothing to do with that. Evolution simply selects for properties that lead to more effective replicators in a given environment. It does not select for "greater intelligence" or any other specific trait. Just look at the world today - do you see evidence of highly intelligent people having a ton of offspring? I certainly don't, which means that intelligence is not being selected for. Also, teaching is not biologically transmitted.
_"But why nowadays people still have to catch up with all those ancient great men's knowledge."_
No they don't. Anyone with a basic modern education is so far ahead of what those ancient people actually believed about the world that it's pointless to even compare them.
_"I mean evolution of human should mean that they're better and better."_
That's a complete misunderstanding of evolution. What's selected for varies with the environment and it's perfectly normal to see degeneration of properties that don't contribute to reproductive success. Evolution certainly doesn't even remotely claim to be a process of gradually approaching some kind of perfection.
_"Instead, We all new generation happens to be dumber than people in the past. it just doesn't make sense."_
Well, the reason it doesn't make sense is that you're wrong both about people getting dumber and because you don't understand the first thing about how evolution works. Intelligence is a somewhat neutral trait at the moment and there's no huge change in intelligence being observed in the human species, although one would perhaps expect a slight decline of the average intelligence because being retarded is no barrier for having kids in modern society, but as the inbreeding between people capable of completing higher education and people who don't is marginal(Due to the school selection system separating potential mates during the critical years of mate selection) this is unlikely to affect the entire species.

_"I think your thought process based on evolution. Evolution theory has too many loop holes. I don't want to waste my time on that. Your question is valid."_
If you think his question is valid you probably should spend some time understanding what evolution actually is. I'm talking about picking up an introductory book about the subject, because you clearly have no clue what it is or how it works.
_"As we generally feel things are getting better and better."_
It's an objective fact that things are getting better, but this is not because of evolution. It's because science has been allowed to accumulate and improve knowledge for a long time.
_"But Did you see anyone as bright as Einstein after him."_
There was nothing special about Einstein. He was mostly at the right place at the right time to get credit for ideas that would have surfaced regardless of whether he existed or not.
_"Did you see anyone as cruel as Gengis Khan after him."_
I'm absolutely sure you'd have no problem finding psychopaths who were much worse than Genghis Khan. Mr. Genghis is mostly impressive due to conquering vast areas, not because of personal cruelty.
_"If you go by evolution theory, If humans really evolved on, there should have been thousand more Vedas."_
Nonsense. That would only be true if the behavior of producing Vedas would have the result of making their authors have much more children than people who don't engage in that behavior. Otherwise, the behavior could not be naturally selected for. You're also assuming that the Vedas in fact are useful for anything, but the fact that the industrial revolution did not happen in India thousands of years ago pretty much proves that people are reading things into the Vedas that simply aren't there.
_"Do we? Why people today are struggling to even learn Vedas?"_
Well, I don't give a fuck about the Vedas and don't have as a goal of spending lots of time with ideas that demonstrably has had very little impact on human welfare.
_"Leave for Vedas, Learn at least 1 Veda well. and tell me how good you are at it. Or how evolved you are to grasp the knowledge there?"_
You're assuming that it's not bullshit to start with, which is a pretty big assumption given the failure of the Hindus to produce technologies based on their worldview. Secondly, you're producing a completely arbitrary measure of "evolved".
_"As far as I remember religious leaders some centuries before even prosecuted Gallelio for saying Earth was not flat. Where as Veda calls earth as Bhugol. Gol means round."_
Educated humans have known the world was round for ages. Aristotle listed several methods of demonstrating this, such as observing the earth's shadow on the moon during a lunar eclipse etc and that's many 100s of years BC and Aristotle doesn't even claim to have invented any of the methods. Also, Galileo was put under house arrest for insulting the Pope in public more than his scientific ideas - which had nothing to do with a flat earth, but rather with a heliocentric model of the solar system. For the record, his model had worse predictive capability than than the existing geocentric models and that's a big part of why his ideas didn't catch on immediately - even though his ideas were conceptually much closer to reality. In fact, Galileo didn't even invent the idea. Natural philosophers already knew that you could describe the system that way, but they believed the description was false because of the better predictive capabilities of the geocentric models they used.
_"So do you think some monkeys were better than us and they wrote Vedas. Rather than questioning staying away as a reluctant child. learn Vedas. Point out mistakes if it has."_
Why on earth should anyone do that? You've read them, you claim they tell you useful stuff about reality - use that knowledge to create technologies that demonstrate that you in fact are some kind of expert on reality. Otherwise, I'm going to take your inability to do so to be evidence that you in fact don't have any useful knowledge.
_"Don't you think it will be better than saying I read evolution Book."_
Well, I know you don't understand the first thing about evolution and that evolution is a demonstrable phenomenon, so you would certainly learn something about reality if you did. It's not clear that I would learn anything useful from the Vedas.
_"And as per it Vedas looks all wrong. It is like a 2nd stardard reading a science book saying Einsteins new invention is wrong because it is not there in my book. Learn and improve. Insulting can only feed your Ego. not knowledge."_
Insulting people doesn't produce knowledge in itself, sure, but if it makes people aware of how useless certain ideas are, those people may end up abandoning the bad ideas and go for better ones that can produce better lives for humans. Bad ideas that don't produce anything useful should be abandoned, not mentally masturbated over for ages. And given that you talk about inflated egos - what would you call people who jerk off while reading the Vedas and repeatedly asserting that they predict modern knowledge while there's no evidence of any such knowledge having been put to use in the ancient world? I'd call that a laughable display of arrogance in the face of conclusive evidence that you're engaging in postdiction and reading stuff into the books that was never there.

+Gnomefro This reply is a great lesson to a person, if she/he had a reason!
However, I believe that this video, presenting someone's interpretations of vedas, are not the vedas itself.
If you follow it carefully, you find that sun is lasting much more than total lifespan of the universe.
Then, according to scriptures, first there was void, then the air (gases, I would say), from air came fire (stars made of hydrogen), then water, and out of water came earth. substances gradually becomes denser, harder, the structure of matter becomes more complex; it's not the other way round as this video suggests.
Also, apart from evolution, there's also involution, that is ascent and descent, it's refering the lost of knowledge in human consciousness and regaining it.

This makes me proud to be Hindu :) My grandparents always used to tell me storys about ancient india and how beautiful it was, rich in heart and land and how its now becoming a rising state again after all the invasion but unfortunately rising to the worst.. greed and power has poisoned people's mind don't fall for the western government ways there technology and social life goes against nature and god, which we forget that we are part of nature and god and if it carrys on it will not sustain life.

Hinduism is not a religion my friend.. it is a way of life.. the gods we are told of are just an idolisation for beliefs.. so we have a sculptured form to worship.. but we are not meant to do that.. we are meant to achieve nirvana or moksha.. become the power ourselves that people worship

Why minimize Einstein? If anything, doesn't he now open the doors to "re-discovery"? The answer is : yes he does. And just to be clear, at least what he says is provable, none of this veda stuff is as far as ive learned. It's just more hokus pokus being paraded as fact. I say, prove it or shut the fuck up.

@Justa Fool Its 100% ridiculous to say that Einstein wasn't a genius. I know that there are always going to be people who are contrarians for the sake of being contrary. I feel like that's what I am seeing here. Because again, its ridiculous to say he wasn't a genius. If anything, he got the ball rolling, which is genius in itself. But to come on here and try to diminish him as if he was a trailer parker high on meth and babbling bullshit is pure arrogance or maybe even just stupidity. I think you read something from someone who does diminish him and are just parroting what you think you learned.

you can calculate the approximate date of the beginning of kali yuga based on when the battle of Mahabharata took place. Bhisma gives the position of the planets and the occurrences of eclipses prior to the beginning of the battle and the end of the battle. I believe that somebody has crunched the numbers and came up with a couple of possible dates, it is out on the internet. 5000 years is a good approximation.

Start with The Gita then read The Bhagavatam (which contains the essence of the Vedas and seems to be the main source of this video). Both of
those books were "only" written 5,000-6,000 years ago, although they
were known before that but manifest all the time because time works in
cycles. The Vedas are the oldest teachings in the universe, but the most
advanced. the reason is the Vedas come from God. The Vedas do
provide a path to enlightenment without accepting God, (Buddhism being
an example) so that people who don't believe in God can have some
positive direction and some basic knowledge, and so there's less problems for
theists and the rest of the world. I suppose you can consider the Vedas
coming from "some mysteryous higher power out there" or what ever works for you, though it is not recommended as the ideal to remain an atheist according
to the Vedas. Obviously I can't do much on a youtube comment so I
suppose you can click the 2nd playlist under my channel's main video or
better yet, read my book. A link is given on a video there but sometimes
      i try emailing it.

yogesh choudhary It is right that Hindu puran/shastra has ample of literarature on many scientific subject matters, which dates thousands of years back. However, what we are mostly doing is only taking pride in what was written by our ancestors. Many theories on the presented subject have also been put forward by western scientists since 1950's. If you do some research on these scientists, you will find that they have fought against social norms and beliefs, many times risking their lives. Thus, we should also show some respect for them.
Also, the world has become so small now that it really doesn't matter who invented what. Any inventions, new or old, are available for everyone to study and consume throughout the world. There is no point fighting over copyrights :)
Having said that, we can still study our ancient literature and try to establish reasons behind their findings. There is still a lot to be learnt and discovered.

What makes you think they haven't read it? Some part of it is true some cleared isn't. Modern science is about exploring and proving how this world works. It's not based on one's beliefs in particular book.
There is good possibility that some very intelligent people figured out a lot of stuff before us and wrote it in form of Vedas. But believing them blindly is what religions do.. not science.
Let people think that science is "behind" their 100% true Vedas, we don't care. History has proved several thousand times how terribly wrong ancient books are sometimes.

Let's say 100 ancient scientists proposed their prediction, so there is pretty good probability than 1 or some of them were correct... BUT they couldn't prove it with technology in that age. Current science isn't about rediscovering, it's about finding that 1% truth from predictions(theoretical physics) and proving it with experiments.
You've seen one side( I am assuming you have read Vedas) now have a look at other side before drawing conclusions.

+Robin Fellows This is an interesting display but misses a lot. You have to study the teaching and revelations of Sri Aurobindo and the Divine Mother in order to know that our mentality, our capacity to think is simply not able to understand the truth of the Cosmos. There is an occult world to which only few of us know the door to it. and less of them have the courage to open it.
Interesting also that all the cosmos descriptions forget that the time of the homo sapiens is an episode, which will be replaced by a being with a superior consciousness totally unthinkable by us. Finally our birth right, physical immortality will develop, a state which our inmost being is striving at but unable to utter it.
The western thinkers and the Christian sources neglect one truth, the fact of rebirth forgetting the passage in the NT when Jesus remarked to his followers:Look there at the river you see Johannes, the babtiser, the previous ELIAS. Is this statement of Jesus not clear enough to establish the knowledge of the law of rebirth ?

Hm, what to say and thanks to the compliment. We are very fortunate to have this internet and RUclips facility and so can learn and learn and learn. What has been sofar said about the Vedic scriptures is indeed difficult to grasp, We have not learned Sanscrit and the English language is a poor communication instrument . We have to manage somehow. (I dislike very much that all Indian terms from the Sanscrit or Urdu or Bengali are transmitted into the English horrible way of writing and pronounciation). Ok, Ok. But the real startling fact is that with the appearance of Sri Aurobindo and his development of the supramental consciousness a completely new episode has started making an end to the episode of the homo sapiens. So as a result INDIA is the mother of all nations and it pains me that our Mother is not complete but by the disgusting partition divided. Thats wha I say at every occasion : Et ceterum censeo Mother India esse uniandum !

First go and study History, why you guys comment stupid things. and For Your Information British made roads where they wanted to do business, they made railway not because of india but their own safety.. All they did here is just SHIT.. India is obviously not
upto standard right now but this are not that bad even today.Every country has weakness and there is just one problem here in INDIA .............POPULATION.

***** Who says the standards we live by are right anyway? Western civilization is fueled by greed, power, and lust. Life should be about seeking spirituality and evolving consciousness, not aquiring and building as many material things as possible to measure self worth. True consciousness seems to be the last thing on westerners minds. It's even leaking into the countries that held spirituality as the primary goal of life.... It's sickening.

Again, this is an excellent summary of what vedas speak about universe. Hats off!

meditation and focus gives you what you cant imagine.our indian civilization is too old and 10000bc ago they made towns and systems to live and if they know all of this that much time ago it means they knew extra use of resource and science will harm and pollute nature.and they only used knowledge to teach and understand this existence.they maintained it.many thousand years ago after mahabharat and death of krishna dwapar yug ended.krishna was known as god but my friends he was very knowledgable person he knew what was happening and what karma means he ws may be more of god but he was born on land he was a highly powered and sharp minded human, even he knew he will die after hit by bhal.people say that he was gone away with his soul and body too.so may be he was so energetic that he disolved in nature but his energy still exsist.our so called lord shiva had great knowledge and power, have you seen that how much he meditated and focus with deep meditation.he knew what was going on things by sitting at one place.it relates with now scientist says every thought of brain have a frequency what we think and what we want goes out side and come inside brain but we use very less amount of brain so we are not capable to understand what our brain should do.but thousands of year ago ancient lords had that energy level to do unusual things.take a example if we will take a laser light and by time traveling we show it to a king 500 years ago he will think its magic or some great power a small thing gives.but we know its science.so if someone says it was fiction or lie it means he cant understand it.amazing part is our ancient hindu books which was written in sanskrit language which is perfect language of world told us many things which are revealing now by science.

Increased frequency of experiences of higher states was correlated with lower anxiety, disharmony, and aggression and less frequent neurotic and schizophrenic experiences. These findings are consistent with the prediction of Vedic Psychology that accumulation of stress, measured psychologically or physiologically, will tend to block further human development, and elimination of stress may help to unfreeze human development.

The history of science in early cultures refers to the study of protoscience in ancient history, prior to the development of science in the Middle Ages. In prehistoric times, advice and knowledge was passed from generation to generation in an oral tradition. The development of writing enabled knowledge to be stored and communicated across generations with much greater fidelity. Combined with the development of agriculture, which allowed for a surplus of food, it became possible for early civilizations to develop and more time to be devoted to tasks other than survival, such as the search for knowledge for knowledge's sake.

Destruction of the physical universe…for some reason "space" is always left out of the picture when we're talking about the physical universe. People focus on matter and objects, but space is the most important element because without space, matter, energy and time cannot exist - there's nothing to exist in. Therefore space was obviously first and likewise, to destroy the universe one would have to destroy not objects but space. Collapsing planetary systems doesn't destroy the universe, the universe is still here no matter what happens to the objects in it.
There is one rule and if that rule is violated the universe will be destroyed. The rule is, "two objects cannot occupy the same position in space." That rule is what keeps space stretched. That is an agreed upon postulate. Violate that and "poof!" there's goes your universe, along with all the objects, energy and time. Now we have a true nothingness.

Vedas and its source itself is a mystery. No one knows who actually wrote it. Some says its written in multiple generations. The knowledge it contains is way ahead of its time. Researches were done by west mostly after 1800 AD. And such ideas are already mentioned in Vedas. From maths to physics to Universe to biology. Yes its strange.

I have a question. If the spaceman came back to earth after 116 million years have passed on our planet, then what civilization existed at that time?
This seems to suggest human civilization before the time when scientists believe the first humans existed (100,000-200,000 years ago)
