Everyone Else: So I picked up this obscure jazz record from 1940s Africa where they combined Australian didgeridoo and European classical viola over odd time signatures
Weird Al: I bought Cars on Blu-ray for my kid 🤣
This!😂 Too many pretend as if they would listen to swedish free Jazz when having breakfast every morning to get in the mood.🙄
You can tell that Weird Al is a sweet, kind man. Gotta love him!
I was thinking that myself.....he loves his child....a family man.... very kind
Have met him and Suzanne several times.
Beyond nice! Very genuine.
This episode is worth it just for the exchange between Al & Nelson Bragg. Such a cool little moment.
Weird al looks like one of those guys that is good at everything he does.
cuz he is :D
He really is
Coolest guy ever.
Al was genuinely flattered! That was beautiful:-)
HE is beautiful... what a guy!!
You haven't HEARD Weird Al until you've heard him on vinyl.
Wow, that was pretty cool! And how awesome was it for the guy from Brian Wilson's band to tell Al how much they all like Pancreas! Al was so flattered. Thanks for posting this. What a great find!
back when the people in this show actually took the stuff out of a bag.
Holy crap. Just noticed this is 9 years old.
@@romanfox5368 just things Jerry Lee Lewis says.
I've been a fan of Weird Al since 1984. Weird Al is the person who got me into TMBG back in 1986 when he did an AL-TV special on MTV back when Polka Party! came out and he played the video for Put Your Hand Inside The Puppet Head, been a fan ever since!!! Weird Al and TMBG for LIFE!!!👍
@PoPpUnKdOtCoM As far as i know they never have
i love at the end where he says 'that was cool!' :)
“My prices are low. My staff is underpaid. We’re located next door to Willie’s Fun Arcade.”
Yeah he is known for being a very nice and down to earth guy.
Love this man! Such an incredible sense of humor. The song "eBay" is one of my favorites. Interesting selections, but mostly for his family. So sweet. : )
Awesome video!!! Al is so nice! I can't wait to meet him again. Thanks for posting!
Now this is one loved guy
Al is the greatest!
The Juno soundtrack is literally the best!
I love weird al!
Cool guy goes over and beyond for his fans
I just watched Ben Stiller's What's In My Bag, and it made me sad. Now I'm watching Weird Al's, and I'm happy again!
I understand he asks other artists in advance if it’s ok he parodies their hits. Very cool.
I've wondered if Brian ever knew about Pancreas. I guess I got my answer! Hooray! :)
His laugh brings joy to my life...
The magic of weird al, is he fucking with you or isn't he? BRILLIANT
Um, I'm sure on his Biography special, he said "I have to say I'm the most visible", not "I hate to..." But, yes, he's very modest about his career. I love this clip, because you even see Al being all fanboyish about meeting a bandmate of Brian Wilson. Aww!
What a genuinely great guy...
The first "what's in my bag?"
I just met him a few weeks ago. Super awesome dude.
The legend Weird Al
legend has it he never got that blu ray player
Al is the coolest dork of all time!
this was a great watch!
WOW! Thanks for posting this!!! Al is so cute I just can't stand it!
Remember the days when Weird Al would take over Much Music for the day? I thought he was going to pull out a copy of UHF from his bag or something funny, but just a bunch of kids stuff.
Buying a Blu-ray when you don't have a Blu-ray player is pretty weird even if you don't find that haha funny it's still WTF funny.
I really appreciate Weird Al!
We need one of these but with Morgan Freeman...
Love Weird Al
love love LOVE LOVE all I want is you
Al is such a nice guy :)
I love the way he said that Tim guy's name.
What a great dad. Not too cool to shop for the kids
how can they have Taco Grande and not have Al sing it on the Ratatouille: What's Cooking? cd?
And Al's daughter is now 17 and listening to Death Grips
Of course he likes TMBG. Of course he does.
Please ask PJ Harvey to do this??
True that
Haven't even watched this yet but you just know he's going to have some good ish.
Right on! He's a fellow TMBG fan. Has he used one of their tracks before? Would be awesome.
Martin Williams He did a stylistic parody titled "Everything You Know is Wrong"
Something in the back of my brain makes me think that there could've/ did a collaboration. (But in a weird unofficial way.)
They Might Be Giants had the ability to crank out so many songs that one point they actually had a "song a day" 800 number (obviously this was back in the era of landlines) and you called the *toll-free number* and listened to a brand new song every day.
I want to point out that these were not sneak peeks to albums - TMBG just threw together a ditty recorded it and put it on the other end of the line every day, I believe it lasted for several *years*.
Al has covered Particle Man in concert before as well
He's just the best
...To keep your sandwich nice and fresh...
...Stick it in your cooler (cooler), eat it when you're ready...
Soundtracks, eternally 80s , just like al
I’ve met weird Al once backstage at the m n stateteathre in 2016
Straight Outta Lynwood
A chunk of dated materiel right here, the HDDVD vs BluRay wars was over and Weird Al was buying his first BluRay!
That album he signed was the one with "Eat It" on it! ...shit, man! I had that in '84 or '85! 🤯
such a swell dude
cool pick ups Al!
I met him, & he is anything but weird!:}.
OMG glad he loves Ratatouille as well!
My artsy friends thought I was odd that I like Weird Al in the same vain as the Clash or Seventh Seal
Back when blu ray was new
:))))) I love the way he laughs...
what a weird guy
Gondwana's music playing on the store!!!
Man it would be so cool to work there!
1:36 OH MY GOOOOOOSHSHSHSHSHHS
weird al yankovic is the biggest troll that walked earth
You know, because typing "Amoeba Los Angeles" into google is just unthinkably hard.
I'm actually kinda terrified to see what Al has in his bag...
I mean of course Jay F. had New York Dolls and The Donnas had girly stuff and metal...
I just had to pause and document my concern haha!!
< < < Our silly rock band loves AL!
< < He's a true inspiration to our silliness!
Nelson Bragg at the end-
Wow his kid is 17 now.
Cars came out 14 years ago... I feel so old.
Oh god
Haha, I wish there was a "what's in my bag" with John.
If the father can't teach Al Jolson references, their mammy can.
Thank you 🙏🏼 I wanted to say I randomly just sing ‘Mammie’ while doing jazz hands 😂
I knew his bag was gonna be weird xD
of course he likes tmbg!!
14 years ago. Damn. RUclips is getting old y'all..
Yes, but I am sure if they had asked Al, he would have let them use the song.
He should do a cover version of the cover of his parody!
This was recorded on my b day :D
Hey do You Guys Still make videos . This is like The Best
He really looks good with facial hair.
@ChainJL hope you didn't get lost in there :)
I just did that same thing today
I wish it was a new act.
Thats weird. Theres a flyer that says 'weird' behind Weird.
Hey I was 5 years old at the time too
They didn't ask him like what albums he likes. wtf lol . Seemed like he got caught off guard when they asked him what's in the bag??.. Interview Failed!
+MrPink422 It was our very first episode and we did in fact catch him off guard. We didn't know what we were doing, and he was exceedingly gracious as we fumbled through this. He's a really cool guy and we would love to have him in again to talk about music.
amoeba you have the best channel on RUclips, thanks for creating this channel and keep up the great work👍
I guess that's one way to find out if Al's been shoplifting. :)
Who was the guy at the end who talked to Weird Al? Also Weird Al makes fun music and seems like a genuinely nice person.
I didn't catch the name either, but he's a member of Brian Wilson's (Beach Boy Brian Wilson) touring band. Brian Wilson's musical director put Al's song Pancreas on the mixtape they play before BW concerts. Also, Weird Al is a genuinely nice person. I've talked to him fairly often after shows.
Is it Michael D'Amico (also of the Wondermints)?
I'm actually really curious about this guy's shirt. "Little Armenia" What is that? I'm familiar with the country of Armenia, is there a Armenian version of a ChinaTown kind of thing?
+Brandon Krause Yeah, it's a small Armenian community in East Hollywood.
+Amoeba jumbo's clown room, represent.
do i have to be dying to meet a famous person
nice job framing him next to the word "weird"
I think everything is in weird al's bag
Where is that cover. I want to listen to it :D :D
It's actually wierd lol
Wow, 2008, the year video cameras invented, hence the video quality.
Dude, this interview is about Al, not you! Shut up and let him talk.
Man, no Van Halen in his bag.
I would love to know - does Amoeba give these celebs some space when they first come in so that these picks are truthful? Do you get me? Do they know this interview is pending? I mean if I knew people were judging me by my purchases I would be somewhat less honest or at least throw in a few "cool" picks like Arquette with that Bunuel DVD haha. Of course these picks are obviously honest, but I wonder about about this.
Hahaha!
I love almost everything he picks is for children
@JagrrrTV Looney Tunes isnt lame...
