Having failed sciences at school, in 2018 I took Biology GCSE , then Chemistry in 2022, Physics in 2023 and this year Maths. At 70, I'm the oldest in rhe class but absolutely love it. The class is just one morning a week at a college in West London. An early 7.30am start, bus and two tubes, homework, revision and a mock exam next month, and loving every minute of it. Another passion is gardening and since retirement I do thd garden at a local school which again means mixing with younger people, which I find is a real bonus. It's also a way of giving back, I taught for over 30 years and so know the pressures in schools and in this way I'm able to pay back the help I was given in the past. I love dogs and look after one for and day a week which gets me out and about in fresh air and nature .
So beautiful! I am a stay at home mom with 4 kids and felt it was missing something in my life and I really thought about this and started a garden to grow some food and learned to do sourdoughbread that I wanted to learn for so long and I am now selling in my town some bread every day, true porpuse for me,give me so much joy. Everyone are passionate for something, just start small and you will get there❤❤
I can totally relate to this and at 61 I’m still doing all my childhood hobbies; ballet I started singing in a band 2 years ago I do Singo Bingo once a month for charity’s I sew every day I’m a reflexologist and I cook from scratch every day. I’m not showing off I’m just showing that in my mind and actions I can be looking forward all the time for ways of making my life exciting. My core values are kindness/empathy/joy and all my hobbies and work speak to me every day. I feel grateful for my good health. Love your great podcasts Dr Chatterjee
I am a 70yr old female, that had bilateral knee replacement. It was 16 months ago. I was despondent with everything still dealing with pain. I found me a new passion in learning a new language. I love every time I open the book and look forward to learning. Thank you, I always have notebook and pen when I watch your podcast.
I used to watch the history channel all the time as a child. After my life fell apart, I rediscovered my fascination with the Roman Empire, the wild west, native american culture, and Ancient Egypt. I then found a job at a museum part time and can confidently say that I love my job.
This was beautiful to read. Because life is about going to back to your hobbies. After l this is the path of self discovery and where we found each other.

Hello Dr. Chatterjee, I am 63 years young, originally from Quebec, Canada and I moved 8 weeks ago to Toronto. I am a subscriber to your channel. There is so much you said in this video that I will write down when I watch it again after work. I am a "seasoned" self-helper and have been for decades, however in the last few years, I have decided it was time to go deeper within myself to uncover my limited and conditioned beliefs. Your video today has awoken this area in my life. Not enjoying certain things in my life, how to change my outlook, is there anything I can do to remedy these situations, and is travelling around the world (not realistic at all right now) really the solution that will give me the purpose and passion I am looking for? And yet, in expressing this to you, I realize that I still have not figured out my "why," ....... EVER! Who am I TRULY? What fills me up with happiness and joy, sometimes overflowing when I am with people, animals and in nature, that I can share and transmit goodness and even exuberance. What makes me tick? There is so much more I can write, however the rest I will write in my journal later. There is so much important information and advice you have given us here, the reason I will watch the video again. I know I have heard this kind of message before from other speakers and I have read this in books as well. However, the way you transmitted your message was totally straight forward (to me) and easy to understand. It was the right time for the lightbulb to be switched on in my consciousness. I am grateful. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for your comment. Really uplifting to note that there are people out there who wants to take the effort to find the deeper meaning and discover ourselves along the way.I hope we could have a talk and discuss some of these concepts.Keep going,we all will reach 'there'...💐💕
Hi Dr. Chatterjee. I couldn't imagine having a doctor such as yourself. I am struggling with a health issue at this time and am totally perplexed. I consider myself a bit of a health nut. I have always been pretty active, eating very little to almost no processed food, mostly vegetarian eating lots of vegetables and fruit and legumes yet I have in the past several months developed swollen ankles, feet and legs. My doctor just says it's your veins, go get some compression stockings. I had to ask if I could be referred to a vascular surgeon and he said he would make arrangements but I haven't heard anything further. By the way, I am 68 years of age, 5 feet, 6 inches and weigh less than 120 pounds and as I read all the reasons why I could have this issue, not one pertains to me. I listen to your podcasts which I love and feel thankful that I at least am kind to people because at the moment, I don't feel like I have much of a purpose except to try to find answers for my health, pay my debts, clear my house of clutter and try to live the healthiest life I can. Thanks for all that you do.
I found a collection of pictures I colored from when I was 3 years old to around 8. I recently reconnected with coloring and painting. I color when I can, including after stressful meetings. Today I'm going to buy water colors and crayons (my partner's suggestion). Cant wait for the store to open in an hour 🎉🎉 Thank you so much for this podcast!
For years, I've been an instructor at a community college. Helping people has been my passion; however, now it's time for a new but similar journey. My next steps are an accredited health and life coaching certification and starting my own coaching business. A woman, former student, 23 years ago said I would make a great coach. Well, here I am taking the next leap of faith this is the right path for me. :)
During COVID, I revisited my childhood love of tap dance and that was amazing. But I recently moved to another city and the dance classes near me are too expensive (single mom 2 jobs, no weekends) There is a fab zumba class in my gym to scratch that itch for now. I'm feeling blah and meaningless again as for the longest time, that inner voice tells me I need to start writing poems again (what I have done since childhood up until being a mom 18 years ago). I know I suck at it and it's all too cringy, but after your post Dr. Chatterjee, I know I have to start trying to write poems again anyway.
What a wonderful talk! I have been applying some these things since April thanks to my best doctor neurologist Nevena who has inspired me to start changing my victim mindset to empower mindset! I can admit that now I'm feeling so much better than before. I can relate to everything that you have been talking. It is so true that good things start changing when you firmly decide to change! But the first thing is to, let's say, make a deal with yourself to start the change. Thank you so much because you, dr Rangan, and also your guests make me work on myself every day. Keep rocking dude.
Perhaps if you still love horses but can’t ride, you could involve yourself in some way in that community…such as working at a horse stable/ranch, assisting the horses in some way, etc. Just being around them may bring you joy that you once found in riding. Just my thoughts, be well!
Thank you Dr Chatterjee, I have been following many podcasters but your podcasts really give new insights and new perspectives to life which otherwise I couldn't have seen. I love the podcast with Bruce Lipton which made realize I had been playing the program that I had downloaded. I still struggle to change mindset but keep going. Thanks again and your efforts are much appreciated to provide useful and helpful information!
There is so much of what you are saying which can support someone’s mental & emotional health; reframing & choosing our life narratives are powerful techniques; being curious about our values, our strengths & aligning with these brings much joy & contentment and doing more of what we love, following our heart & passion creates a lightness of being…. Yet I have an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach when you are only talking about these things-reframing & recreating narratives can also be used by others in manipulative & destructive ways & ‘therapist speak’ is often used to justify this reframing & new narrative. Sometimes things are not as easy as they are made out to be… Sometimes as scary as a wolf may be in your house, you know it’s a wolf… when it’s wearing sheep’s clothing & convinced everyone around you of a very different narrative than you’re experiencing, this is where psychological techniques & reframing can be detrimental & sometimes dangerous to that person’s wellbeing. This is not a victim mentality- this is a physical truth…. Someone can be victimised & be empowering but still be accused & shamed of having a victim mentality. Very few things are linear & each person’s journey is as worthy as another’s, as we are forever learning & growing for & from each other. Thank you for your podcast. Much food for thought x
One of my purposes in life is to turn people onto . the arts. I routinely take friends to see museum shows. Makes me happy and gives me a busy social life as all those people invite me to other things.
I recently started playing chess And I’ve become very passionate about learning! It’s quite fun I also compose music when my body and mind permits (I have a disability)
I’ve only watched 10 minutes so far, but this idea resonates with me. Correct me if I am wrong, but it feels like the takeaway is to start incorporating the qualities or mindset I would have as if I already had the life situation I desire?
Nietzsche!! I agree with Bertie Wooster's Jeeves - "you would not like Nietzsche, he is fundamentally unsound". So you're proposing 'the good striver'. Does everyone have to have a purpose, attain something, aspire to something, achieve something? If someone feels a particular calling to do or be x, y or z fine, go for it. But what about the millions who don't. Who don't want to 'manifest' and are happy just to potter along with the life that's theirs? I'm not so sure that all this achieving has done mankind or the planet a lot of good. Not finding a unique purpose doesn't necessarily equate to emptiness.
I believe in doing what I feel like doing .... You don't have to work it's a free country. I don't get involved with anyone ....I operate out of my intellect and puré strength...I don't need a house I don't need a car ....for Americans Jefferson said that a man should aim for the mind of plato or Aristotle and the body of Hércules..
