  • Crochet this Ripples in the Sand Afghan featuring Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn.
    Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn is a new yarn that is like a soft cord. It is partly cotton and polyester. The yarn has stretch and is bulky which means projects such as this will crochet up really quickly. It will have a beautiful drape to it.

    I love this tutorial. You made a complicated pattern on paper...very easy to get. I love a similar pattern from Yarnspirations called Growing Ivy but the printed pattern is not only complicated, but also, there are some errors in it too. Would LOVE to see you tutorial that one as well. I also love that we both hold the crochet hook the exact same way!

    Tried out 3 other patterns on the premier puzzle acrylic yarn (bit bigger than worsted but not quite at that level 5 bulkiness, and using a 6.5mm hook) with success, but wasn't really liking the texture or look of them. This one really seems to be the ticket and it's working up great. You've actually made this chevron pattern quite intuitive. It's quite simple, but for anyone like me, the array of charts/graphs and written instructions are often so difficult to follow, especially with little nuances like stitch placement. If you consider some people start a row in the chain's stitch and others don't, there's a bit of ambiguity. That makes these videos all the more valuable

    TY for teaching me this beautiful Wave pattern. I ❤️ your videos and you are a great teacher. Crocheting has become one of my passions in a short period of time I have made so many beautiful things because of the people like you teaching me. This new joy I get from making beautiful things helps me see and deal with my depression in a different and positive way. Thank you and keep up the great job 😊

    This yarn has so much stretch to it. Do you have any tips for keeping your tension consistent for patterns like this? My gauge seems too tight.

  • @irenehermosillo8629
    @irenehermosillo8629 3 года назад +1

    Very pretty pattern. Yarn you used too expensive for my budget.
    I don't know how to read charts. So for me just the explanations of the stitches and how to make them is sufficient.
    What other not to thick yarn should I use? I really like the size 4 medium. Will that be OK?

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  3 года назад

      You should be able to substitute with a yarn that suits your budget. Just look at the ball band for the hook size. It's easier you to look at what you have in your yarn collection and just make a decision than it is for me to suggest brands you may or may not have.

    I made a blanket with this stitch and I love it!!! I'm making a nicer one to try to sell. Are there any tutorials on how to do a border on this?? My first one's border bugs me just because I don't know if it's correct or not haha

    • @reggie2685
      @reggie2685 2 года назад

      There are many tutorials meant for bordering straight edges on chevron patterns that might help. Were you intending to maintain the shape of the chevron? If you border on the chevron peaks and troughs, you might smooth it out a bit (more like a wave on the ends than sharp triangular points). I think 2 stitches on each point would do. Curious to know if you ever made it and what method you used to border.

    I don't understand, it seems to me that the cover photo is completly different from what you are demonstrating in the video.

    • @cmaurizio19406
      @cmaurizio19406 3 года назад

      It appears to me that the yarn in the photo is a thinner yarn and it also appears that all the "up rows" are crocheted in the front hoop and the "down rows" are crocheted in the back loop to give it that 3D look.. Just my first thoughts...

  • @AnneBlond
    @AnneBlond 7 лет назад +4

    Is there a simple border stitch to do on both sides when you're done? I don't hate the border, but i think it could be neater. Does anybody have ideas?

    This is probably a dumb question but I'm pretty new to crocheting and self taught so when you counted 5 in to make row one and you put your hook in the back of the chain foundation stitch do you continue to put the hook in the back of the chain for the rest of the next 8 double crochets? Thanks for any help. Love the look btw!

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  3 года назад

      Yes, the back of the chain allows the starting edge to look like regular stitches. I found if you don't do that, one edge always looks like it's unfinished.

    • @TruthificationChronicles
      @TruthificationChronicles 4 года назад

      Do only one or two repetitions of the 22 (depending on your yarn and hook size) to make it as wide as you want. Or, if you prefer the wave to go the other direction, do enough sets of 22 to make the scarf as long as you like. Then do as many rows as you want to make it the width you want.

  • @popskltoes

    I couldn’t figure out why I was ending with the wrong number of stitches on the first row. I frogged it, thinking I counted wrong, and looked on the written pattern. It says 9dc instead of 8 after each valley. UGH

  • @Sethrocksalot
    @Sethrocksalot 4 года назад

    I don't understand, why skip 2 chains at the bottom corners when you're working into the starting chain? In row 1, when you work 3 Dc's together, you skip 2 chains between them. Why? I just started another blanket and completely forgot about that, otherwise I'd have subtracted from my starting chain so I wouldn't have to skip any

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  4 года назад +1

      I don't understand but it sounds like you have solved the issue and going ahead

    • @Sethrocksalot
      @Sethrocksalot 4 года назад

      After the starting chain, when the first row of DC's goes into the chain, every time you DC 3 together, why skip a chain in between them? That's what confuses me

      You might be pulling to tight. Try a small practice piece with less tension in your yarn. It should look too loose at first, but it tightens up as you work it.

    Although most yarnspiration tutorials are pretty good this one is not. One small mistake and you have to start alllll over this is a very frustrating pattern . I can’t see because your thumb covers the next stitch or three..., and the written pattern is different than than tutorial. The stopping and starting again for the explanations of the drawings totally throw me off. Not for fast crocheting

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  5 лет назад

      I'm so sorry. I sometimes forget to crochet so it's awkward for me so the camera catches it. I'm sorry, I obviously got to comfortable.
      I'm surprised the pattern is different than the tutorial. I will have to look at the tutorial as maybe Yarnspirations has updated the pattern since this was filmed.
      I'm so sorry for also explaining the crochet diagrams so that it would be a visual tool for you to use.
      I'm also sorry that it's not for fast crocheting either.
      Obviously, I'm not a great host for you. I'm sorry.
