Gen 4 runs flawlessly no reason for a Gen 5… cosmetics , fingerless, flares and ambi controls don’t change anything much and I’m a lefty. I’m content with my Gen 4 and trust it.
People forget there is this thing called " adapting" I can hop on any gun and be fine with the sights, I think people are bitching because they pull low left and blame the tool. lol
people keep bitching about the sights, yes you should get metal sites installed, but just so you know, you can get really good off those plastic sights. its called practice. In my opinion, buy the Gen 3 and Gen 4 till Glock sorts out the 5.
Front serrations are completely unnecessary and IMO no one should be in the habit of manipulating ANY pistol at the muzzle end. I know a lot of “high speed/low drag” operator types will disagree. 🇺🇸🗽🦅🇺🇸
Hate to be that guy, but man there are some serious safety issues and training scars in this video. First, whoever that dude with you at around the 11:20 mark needs some serious safety training. He was strait up waving a weapon around on the firing line. Second, noticed a major training scar on your reloads, looked like every single time you ran dry, you would stop, strip the empty mag first, then go for the fresh magazine. When the slide locks to the rear, bring the firearm into your workspace (eye level), while ejecting the magazine. At the same time, support hand secures and indexes the fresh magazine and brings it up to re-load. Finally, and I know there is some debate on this, but a striker fired weapon is not ideal for appendix carry. When you re-holster with a firearm that has a hammer, you can tell if something is caught on the trigger by placing your thumb on the hammer during re-holster. Not possible with a striker fired, which is important due to the vital equipment/arteries located below that type of carry.
I discovered that I wanted a glock 19 for my personal firearm, working towards daily carrying. After watching your video, I have learned that I prefer the finger grooves of the gen 4, but I also like the mag modifications and the curved nose of the gen 5. Ultimately, I decided to go with the gen 5 glock 19 because the things that I don't like about it are much easier to personally modify than the things I don't like about the gen 4. For example, I would prefer to have finger grooves, so I can easily add rubber finger grooves to the gen 5 to fit my hand. Thank you for educating me on the glock 19 and helping me make a more educated decision in my carry choice.
seriously, this dude must not shoot a lot, the Glock 19 gen 5 ..is our number 1 seller to law enforcement. ..and I understand why after I trained with it on a day to day basis, at this point in time the Glock 19 gen 5 is the best gun you can own for self defense or duty carry, but don't take my word for it, just ask your local law enforcement agencies, they will tell you the Glock is tried and true, and the new Glock gen 5 exceeds all exception of a battle gun.
The sights are not off, Glock sights are setup that way on purpose, I see lots of people complaining about this and was curious myself as my own G45 rear sights are offset. The automated system Glock uses to test fire, selects sight height and rear sight placement based on the test fire results of each Pistol. So if they are off its intentional. The test result is based on the results of a 5 shot placements from a fixed position at a 25M distance.
First, thanks for the comparison! Second, you made a comment that Glock is no longer the premier polymer. What brand would you pick that's more premier than Glocks?
I disagree. I’ve tried a lot of these newer designs like the VP9 and M&P and so on and they really don’t put bullets down range any better than the Glock. All the slide serrations and other esthetics don’t really mean anything when the shit hits the fan. I carry a gen2 g19 hat I’ve had for 25 yrs now with over 100,000 reds through it. I’ve had very very few mishaps with it. When all these other guns develop that kind of track record maybe I’ll give more consideration.
i have 2 Gen4 G17's and i can't believe how much better and more accurate the glock 3-dot night sights are compared to the U shape plastic sights, headshots on targets is so much easier at 10 yards.
Glock , is slowly boring me , the fact that they refuse to put out a gun out of the box pistol with crappy sights , is crap . Smith & Wesson continues to improve and the price is more affordable.
Mark Chambers I'm with on the m&p , I own two of them there great . But on that note , glocks are awsome! They will never ever be great in regards to cosmetics , ever . They are just a tool period , yes we all love great looking guns , pistols and or long guns. But glocks just like 1911 have years and years of military / law enforcement and civilian use , that no other handguns have. Yes there are plenty of handguns out as of now that are great , from sig , to h&k , to s&w , Walther, fn , beretta , but they just don't have the Trac record. That doesn't mean there lesser or glocks or 1911 are better , but there proven . And from experience , and my children and my family in the military and law enforcement, 1911 , beretta, and glock and also sig there Trac record is hard to beat. Let's see what the p320 does in the future and everything else of current up to date makes and models do in the years to come. If your trained and I mean anyone trained with firearms and shoot thousands of rounds in ever type of scenario, you can use any weapon and take care of business. And or just for the fun of the sport we have as gun owners. I'm not here to come at you at all , we're all brothers in the firearms industry and let us all enjoy are freedoms and rights in america! Burn some brass , and get after it.......... p.s. the m&p s are sweet I love mine , and there much more comfortable too shoot and hold , but man or man give me a p226 , a 1911 , or a glock any day for a go to war sidearm and or home defense weapon any day any place . I need to see more years from all the other handguns in regards to a Trac record ........ have a good one , be safe , and shoot save...........
Steven Werth Then they need to start putting good sights on their guns out of the box, and undercut that damn trigger guard for a better purchase, especially when wearing gloves! But they just refuse to do these things that the consumers want! They would rather have us sink two or three hundred dollars more into an already over 500 dollar gun, and don't care! That's ridiculous!! There are many other pistol manufacturers out there that are less expensive and have all of the features we like and are of good quality. Screw Glock!
Glock's QC had gone to sh*t over the years. When I bought my Glock 26, the feed plate in one of the magazine was misaligned out of the box. The front of the recoil spring sticked out of the font of the slide on the first slide rack. I was extremely disappointed with Glock's Imperfection!
Med/Sm hands and I love the finger grooves on my Gen4. Absolutely fits my grip perfectly. I think most of the complaints on the Gen4 finger grooves are from people with large hands or fatter fingers.
Whenever I buy a new Glock, which is at least once a year I go ahead and budget to buy sights too that day. I like Big Dot and Trijicon. I don't own a Glock with factory sights. I don't know why you'd take a Glock back to a gun shop simply because the rear sight needs a little tap with a wooden dowel.
If you have a Glock 19 Gen 4 you really don't need a Gen 5. That's unless you just have to have one? There's no difference between the two when I shot them and any changes made were insignificant in my opinion. Newer doesn't mean better and often is just a sales pitch. If I'm 30 feet or less away from the target, I don't need my rear sight. I do agree that Glock sights that come standard with the firearm sucks.
I'm looking into my first pistol have heard good things about glocks, but still confused as to if this is a great first gun or if you have a suggestion for another one.
Thanks for the video! I don't own a Glock 19 but I would like to purchase one. I've seen a video of a comparison between the barrel coatings on the Gen 4 & the Gen 5 and the Gen 5 had wear marks that seems to have gone through the coating but not on the Gen 4. The wear marks were very slightly visible on the Gen 4 but definitely not as bad as the Gen 5 and the Gen 4 barrel had many many rounds put through it. Do see this same thing between the two yet? If the finger groves were not bothersome and you don't care about the plastic sights, would you still recommend the Gen 5 vs say the Gen 3 or a Gen 4?
I was a Glock guy for a couple of years, the G19 being my favorite. But I have to admit that Glocks are boring and ugly. The crappy plastic sights were the icing on the cake. So I got rid of them ALL. As long as Glock continues to ship guns from the factory with those sights they won't get my money. I went back to a revolver, I can't believe how much better I shoot. Lesson learned.
The science behind sight picture, the U notch or field goal Glock ships with is the worst for acquisition and accuracy. The back is too large and distracting and its harder to find the middle when the U distracts from the front post. It's much easier to line up the front sight with 3 dot and 2 dot sights. I'm sure Glock fanboys will tell me different, but it is what it is people. I'm glad you brought this up. If it's a block, keep it that way. I honestly don't think reholstering is that much of an issue. Not sure why they left the front serrations off the gen 5. I guess people just mill their own slides anyways. But the new magwell and removed finger grooves is definitely a plus. Thank you always for your honest reviews!
frontier.setter I think most glock fan boys will tell you they agree with you. I have never met someone proficient with firearms who enjoys the plastic stock sights on any glock.

Great video bro!! I also carry a 19 Gen 4 everyday. It's perfect in my opinion. It actually feels better and slimmer than my Glock 26 Gen 4 for some reason. 😉👍
I've had one too many Glocks. I finally got fed up with all their head games and nonsense. I won't purchase any more stock pistols with crappy plastic Walmart sights. Glock quality simply isn't there. Just like Colt, they think too much of themselves and they don't listen to their real customers. I'd much rather have a nice revolver, ALL metal and way better sights.
Poor quality control. Why were the sights not installed correctly? Probably because they are assembled in the United States. So much for pride in workmanship.
Great review! I agree about the stock sites. Horrible. I replaced mine on my 36 and my M&P 40 with Truglo TFO and I love them. The only thing with that is they are naturally longer sites due to the fiber optics so you have to mind what holster you have with them. But you get great visibility both day and night.
sweetcostarica hey is it confirmed gen6 glock 19 is coming out next year? How often does glock make new generations of the different models? Do new gens of models come out every year like new models of iPhones come out every year? I’m new to the firearm scene. Looking to purchase my first first firearm and have been leaning towards to Gen 5 because it fits better in my hands. However, I’ll wait for the 19 Gen 6 if it is being released in 2019.
It's mind boggling to me that Glock for what ever reason just refuses to upgrade their design with an undercut trigger guard and good sights! Everybody hates those sights! Why would you spend 500 some odd dollars for the gun, then another 200 bucks for new sights!? That's crazy!
Gen 4 runs flawlessly no reason for a Gen 5… cosmetics , fingerless, flares and ambi controls don’t change anything much and I’m a lefty. I’m content with my Gen 4 and trust it.
I was looking online and some sites have the GEN four priced $60 higher than the GEN five. I am left-handed too. Doesn’t make a big difference to me.
from 10 yards in you dont even need sights your missing shots at 7 feet no excuses
lol
Skip to the 3 min mark.

you'll understand if you watch the first 3 mins like i did ffs
Jake Kelley or just watch it on 1.5 speed
i suck at shooting so blame the sights
I have a Glock 19 gen 4 but I like my czp10c better.
But my Glock17 Gen2 still Works fine 😎
That's what I've got and never had a single problem. Definitly a great toy.
that goal post or u design is just as easy to use as the three dot sights. I don't get all the whining about it....

No, the Glock Gen 4 does not have front slide grooves the Gen 5 does
aren't the sights supposed to be adjustable to the users eye? if so maybe Glock doesn't spend much time totally centering it?

Change the sights to tritium and ameriglow anyway. Why would you not. I’m not even walking out without them installed first.

My thoughts on the the Gen 5... On a firearm produced by a company with the advertising slogan 'Glock Perfection,' I find it absurd that a customer must do what is essentially the final inspection before purchase. Should a buyer look over any pistol for flaws? Yes, of course. I do with any brand, but it seems like Glock has slipped far when it comes to QC. It's worth it is your left handed.
I feel like he's getting annoyed way too much over the gun...
Just buy a S&W M&P9 2.0 Compact
Wait for the 6th Gen, Glocks at Shot Show 2019.
Be prepared to get blown away (figuratively).
sweetcostarica hey is it confirmed gen6 glock 19 is coming out next year? How often does glock make new generations of the different models? Do new gens of models come out every year like new models of iPhones come out every year? I’m new to the firearm scene. Looking to purchase my first first firearm and have been leaning towards to Gen 5 because it fits better in my hands. However, I’ll wait for the 19 Gen 6 if it is being released in 2019.
@Councilman Les Wynan Get both then make your decision.
Odd, My Gen 4 FS summer special came with night sights.
love my burnt bronze 19. gen 4
It's mind boggling to me that Glock for what ever reason just refuses to upgrade their design with an undercut trigger guard and good sights! Everybody hates those sights! Why would you spend 500 some odd dollars for the gun, then another 200 bucks for new sights!? That's crazy!
The gen 4 fs is superior
I like guns but these gun guys, wow don’t they have some other interests?
your beard is weird
Having a gun real damn gud idea of safety trusted and reliable that is why I get my own above ⬆️⬆️...
