The first day I went to the range, it failed me with two kinds of ammunition, the Glock 19 Gen 5. I'm going to continue practicing with it. If it keeps failing me, then I'm going to send it for review.

I subscribe to a lot of these types of vids with Rob Ski, Valor Ridge, you name it - just like many others here. Every single one of them agrees with you - get TRAINING and PRACTICE. The tired cliche of "Beware of the man with just one gun..." is sooo true. Learning the manual of arms through repetition, putting lead down range, clearing malfunctions, etc. - just no substitute. For instance, I still struggle with my AK mag changes, but I'm determined to get to a decent level of proficiency. Guys like Lucas make it look so easy, but we know how much dedication and practice that he committed to in order to get there. Very humbling but encouraging at the same time. While that is kind of true, I think there is a bigger picture that is sometimes being missed. Yes skills are important, but the question is how much? At the end of the day they are tactics, and tactics don't matter as much as strategy (akin to how equipment doesn't matter as much as skills). Look at the military or law enforcement, many are poor shooters but they get the job done. Why? There is a great focus on the strategic level. For them, information gathering, dissemination, and things like maintaining logistics are the key to success. For the average citizen, our "strategy" involves understanding the law, street smarts, and establishing and maintaining vigilance in our security measures and situational awareness with critical thinking. A fast draw is nice, but avoiding danger and spotting a threat early is better. A fast magazine reload is nice, but knowing when you are legally allowed to shoot is better (firing too early AND too late are important) considering the rarity of running dry in self defense with a full capacity magazine. It is good to train with a rifle, but do you have any plan to store or carry it with you so it is available when needed (this is one reason why rifles end up being used only for home defense and why handgun proficiency and concealment is so much more important) Of course, I subscribe to the buffet style of training. Why pick one when you can aim to be proficient in everything? However, there is much talk about the tactical level and in doing so a lot of people miss out on these big picture concepts that could result in you getting harmed before you can fight, or incriminated after winning the fight. Practicing weapon manipulations are free and fast, and so is marksmanship by dry fire, but they should not be considered the benchmark of proficiency, but rather the absolute minimum standard.
+Dave Smith I see it like you're talking about level 3 and he's talking about level 2. in other words, legal knowledge, situational awareness, knowing how to avoid trouble... Yes those things are most important. Then, if you're going to use a firearm, being able the shoot on the move and actually hit your target, that's kind of what he's talking about and that's important too. Bottom line is too many people spend their time at level 1, discussing caliber, firearm brand, ammunition, and all that stuff is of very minimal importance compared to what you've discussed above...
Most honest review I've seen. Everybody else is trying their hardest to justify why you should get the new Gen 5. At least with the Gen 5 it will hopefully bring down the price of previous generations. Personally looking at getting the CZ P10C as the Glock for me is painfully uncomfortable to shoot.
I just watched a couple of your RUclips videos for the first time. Awesome!! This one in particular you made a point that impressed me the most. The firearm doesn't make the marksman, only practice and hard work makes an individual a great marksman. Hats off to you brother, your skills are beastly.
"Leave the forums, leave social media, and spend that time training" I'm doing that in so many more areas right now and I've seen massive improvements in both my skills and overall mental health. And now that we know that foreign entities are using those platforms to destabilize both our elections and our society - it's more important than ever.
You should always shoot with eye protection. If something goes catastrophically wrong with your firearm, your face is pretty close to it, and you won't have time to react and block your eyes. I'm assuming that's why the sunglasses.
This young man really has his act together. Not only is he a very impressive shooter but his videos are excellent in every way. I also agree 100% that if you don’t have the skill/training it won’t matter if you have a $5000 Nighthawk Custom or a $500 S&W to get desired results.
That final statement said everything about who you truly are. Being able to put effective fire on your target is really what this is all about. Don't EVER stop teaching!
After being subbed for a couple of weeks and binge watching a ton of your vids, I think it's safe to say your stuff is one of the best out there. The camera work and editing, man, it's insane. Let alone your skills. Love what you do!
I have a Gen 5 G19 and I absolutely love the way it shoots. The only minor issue that I'm working on overcoming is the cutout on the front of the magwell. I was told they put that in so it'd be easier to pull the mag out if you had to, but occasionally, I get hung up on it when I go to insert a magazine...
I dunno. Hickok said that you have to go back to Gen 3 to find truly good Glock trigger. He said he didn't consider it to be improved over Gen 4. I know one thing: I'll never know! I don't have a gen4 and have no designs on a gen5!
I've fired more rounds than I can count through both my Gen 4 and Gen 3 and honestly can't really tell a difference between the two triggers. Hell, I've even grown to like the triggers, or maybe I'm just used to it. Personally, I'll stick with my Gen 4 Glock 22, going to switch to a G17 Gen 4 soon though. I won't likely buy a Gen 5 anytime soon. Don't need it. But hey, if a guy can afford to add it to their safe then I say buy it and have fun.
+EVOLICIOUS actually the logic is good, whatever firearm you're considering is superior to Glock is irrelevant, because either Glock or Brand X are both way better than you are.
Excellent video. I knew the Gen 5 vid was going to be awesome. This video exemplifies the perfection that T. Rex Arms is. Nice job. Let's not forget how beautiful the Gen 5 Glock looks.
I believe what glock was referring to was reholstering when talking of the rounded nose on the slide. They found the angles of the square nose caught on holster whereas the round nose simply finds its home. Wasnt a fan of the round nose in the beginning but the look has grown on me personal.
Fantastic review! There is so much misleading and incomplete product hype in the media today that you can rarely get truthful factual information unless you can test the product yourself. Your videos are honest, objective, and concise. Much appreciated. Thank you!
Mmm I dont know. I can objectively say that there are better shooting handguns than Glock. But the real reason anyone should use Glock is confidance that it will go bang every time. Thats why I like glock
I am 5 years late to this video, but I just wanted to let you know it's still serving a purpose! I just bought my first handgun which is a Gen 5 Glock 19. I do appreciate all the details covered in the video and the message put out in the end. You truly are an incredible instructor and thank you again for making this information available for free to people like me.
Awesome videos! I've never trained but watching you at least gives me an idea of what to do. I really liked the instruction video on trigger pull technique... good stuff.
I subscribed to the channel when I saw this video. The most honest video I have ever seen! I was looking for this because wanted to know if it would worth upgrade from gen4 and this "kid" made my day after seen a bunch of other videos. This young man has a lot of wisdom, professionalism, common sense and experience! Keep going mate!
From all the thousands of videos I've watched. You are the only one that said the words that really truly matter. This was the best review i have seen up to now. Thanks for the great work you put into your videos.
So it’s still just a Glock. That is mostly a good thing. I think I will keep my Gen-3 G19. It just fucking works. Kinda like a Honda Civic or Toyota truck or a Chevy truck.
What is the recommendation for a first time Glock buyer with minimal gun experience: Gen 4 or Gen 5? I am thinking the Gen 5 simply because its the newest model, and I would be starting my learning curve and skill curve from zero.
Gen 5 would be my pick and easier to find. Ive carried my Gen 3 for a few years and will finally be moving to Gen 5. I disliked the texture and finger grooves on my Gen 3 so I shaved and stippled it and it was much better. However, I feel like Gen 5 doesnt need either but thats just my opinion. My hands tend to sweat a lot when shooting so I need an aggressive texture and talon grips dont last for me. Id compare Gen 4 and Gen 5 and see which you feel more comfortable with since thats ultimately what matters.
Gen 4 and gen 5 are effectively the same handgun, especially for a newer shooter, the only reason i prefer gen 5 is because I am left handed and i greatly prefer the full ambi
Out of all the videos that you've ever done , This is the video where I finally sit back and say okay I like T Rex. Because I feel this is the first time that you are absolutely delivered an honest honest opinion in a video and it wasn't all Showboat I'm just shoot from the hip and I'm giving you the Honest information to the best of my ability. In this day and age where political correctness which PC in my in my personal opinion stands for poor conduct ,It's refreshing to see good honest information delivered.

That slow-mo at 1:54 was kind of cool with the music. Great video, thank you for explaining us all this little details between the g4 & g5. Also, Great advice at the end of the video.
Why have they not cast Lucas to play John Wick?! The level of performance in presentation, acquisition, and engagement is so high, so refined it's art in practice.
The finger grooves do not fit everyone's hands, like mine and I absolutely felt uncomfortable where my pinky hung. Thank you. You are very well informed and have incredible skills. I sold my S&W .40 cal and have been contemplating what Glock I would like. I narrowed it down to a 9mm and thought that the 17 seems to be the perfect size for me. After going back and fourth on the gen4 and the gen5, it made sense to me to pay the extra $50 for the 5 gen. The finish is better, better scope, safety that can be switched to the left hand ( my son is a lefty and I'm not), the handle drives me nuts on the 4 gen, and it's the latest version.
THANK YOU for the wrap up at the end of the video. Oddly enough... I used to work in the golf industry and I can't tell you how many times conversations about golf performance drilled down to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE and not the tool. If you know what you are doing, you know what you are doing, no matter the tool!
Yeah.. It was supposed to be made for the military but Sig won the contract.. It is pretty much a Glock 45 meaning 19 slide with 17 handle (and a lanyard hole). The one disadvantage I found out about the 19x is, you cannot use any other glock magazine except the one made for 19x only.
Im honestly a huge fan of the beveled edge. I just love that minor aesthetic change. I have no idea why but I wish I could get a Gen 5... but i live in Commiefornia so Im restricted to a Gen 3
My first pistol was a Glock 19 Gen 5. It’s my EDC and its everything the reviews I read/watched said it would be. I train daily with it. At the range and at home. Phenomenal firearm. When I read that the SS carry it to protect the president, that’s what sold me.
i love how he dosnt try to advertise his product hardcore like other ppl on RUclips its just straight up annoying and hes straight to the point and wont sugar coat it. I barley ever comment but you deserve it great vid!!
Just wondering, why does he hit the back of the slide? Just thing he specifically does? Or is there an actual application for it? I've seen it elsewhere too.
First of all thanks for your time and dedication on making this video. Thanks for pointing out the differences between gen 4 and gen 5. I have 2 things to ask very important. #1 you said the marksman barrel of the gen 5 is not really a better barrel. Glock says a shooter can do 4" groups at 25 yards with a Glock 17 gen 5. Could you please make a video with a Glock 17 gen 4 making 4" groups? Mr Gunslinger made a video on the Glock 17 gen 5 and he even made 1.5"groups. #2 in the video Mrgunslinger made he actually showed that the trigger and IT IS DIFFERENT internally and Mrgunslinger states it feels different. I can easily understand that in your opinion the glock trigger from a gen 4 and a gen 5 might be very similar, but it is not the first time I hear from people saying the gen 5 trigger is better. Thanks for your time.
Well said Sir. I personally love Glock and own several. I also on a few other pistols. You are right when you say “ all that doesn’t matter if you cannot hit your target “. Love your videos

Hey Lucas, come here to Idaho and do some shooting, that would be super cool. Anyway though, Botkin is awesome! No bs, no frills, just go to work. Big fan of the continuous message through all of T-Rex's videos on the importance of ammo and training and not hype. Keep it up Brother!
Been running my gen 3 for over 3 years and have had 0 issues with it and it shoots just as accurately as it did when I got it. My roommate had a gen 4 and then got a gen 5. The gen 5 is great as well but I don’t plan on buying one anytime soon. My gen 3 is still kicking

Just looking at the intro, I really have to applaud you for the production value of this video......visually it looks amazing. Keep up the good work.
Just took my Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS out shooting. Shot 100 rounds. Absolutely love it. Just hate the stock trigger. 0 malfunctions.
“Marksman” who wants to be a marksman? I’ve always shot for “Expert”!
Lol
Distinguish is the highest you can go!!!
i love how practical and utilitarian this guy is. "None of this crap matters! Shoot more!" right on!
100%. I know tons of people that buy all the accessories and upgrades but rarely practice.
@@dbranch1515same!
I love it, man. Thank you for your honest, objective, realistic, practical and hands-on assessment. Keep up the excellent work!
This young man is on point. Outstanding Job
He’s like... 30 or older?
30 is young tho
illmatic826 I mean yeah, but he’s not that young.
@@gen-zboomer He's 27.
Vrsce01 still
0:30 the most reliable truck and gun together in one frame can’t argue facts
I’m a die hard Chevy guy but I can’t argue with that you can’t kill those
I just watched a couple of your RUclips videos for the first time. Awesome!! This one in particular you made a point that impressed me the most. The firearm doesn't make the marksman, only practice and hard work makes an individual a great marksman. Hats off to you brother, your skills are beastly.
“Get off social media. Get out there and train.” Good stuff!👍
hey, thats cheating, your wall hacking
Yeah, I'm on gen 3 Glock 19's still.
Dutch K Are you from Cali? Cause i can feel your pain lol we're limited to gen 3's in here.
Dutch K
Great firearm! No need to upgrade!
Marion Rivera No I'm in Mississippi...But I actually am from California.
Gen 3 here also
you should leave france
Thank you for echoing all the assessments of the G5s "improvements". Further, you are an excellent instructor.
"Leave the forums, leave social media, and spend that time training"
I'm doing that in so many more areas right now and I've seen massive improvements in both my skills and overall mental health. And now that we know that foreign entities are using those platforms to destabilize both our elections and our society - it's more important than ever.
I just realized i don't think I've ever seen Lucas shoot without sunglasses on......i bet that's why hes so good.
You should always shoot with eye protection. If something goes catastrophically wrong with your firearm, your face is pretty close to it, and you won't have time to react and block your eyes. I'm assuming that's why the sunglasses.
American sunglasses come equipt with nightvision
Special Ops Pepe lol hahaha
This young man really has his act together. Not only is he a very impressive shooter but his videos are excellent in every way. I also agree 100% that if you don’t have the skill/training it won’t matter if you have a $5000 Nighthawk Custom or a $500 S&W to get desired results.
Love the interview.I really love when you said invest in your training. Real talk you are the real deal I see a lot of integrity in you
That final statement said everything about who you truly are.
Thx from Germany my friend
Nothing left to say!
The most common failure is behind the Gun....
800-900 rounds in a day. RIP wallet
Corey Coker and that was just with the gen.5
No .20 a round isn't bad but I'm still a broke college kid. It was more RIP to my wallet 😂
Lol!! that's the name of the game when it's a passion at least for me it is
Corey Coker Who needs a wallet when you're sponsored?
Lol!!
I agree with training. Funny thing is I have both Gen 4 and now Gen 5. I have a magpul magwell on my gen 4 19. I have no issue concealing it.
All personal preference. Body type and holster plays a key role
LUCAS, YOU DID A GREAT JOB ON THIS VIDEO AND LOVE THE SPEED ON YOUR SHOOTING. THANK YOU FOR TALKING THE TIME TO PRODUCE THIS.
The Gen 5 trigger is a tad better though
When shooting it feels good when dry firing its different
Why argue over the little things like that? It’s still an entry level gun.
Not according to the KID, and after reading all comments the KID knows.
YES!! Keep your "old" Glock and get training! NOT a new gun!
Øystein Dyb Hanssen everyone knows that the newer the gun the better the shooter.
Or buy a new gun that is better engineered and get training as well. Your logic is severely flawed.
Øystein Dyb Hanssen preach it . Training is it........
+EVOLICIOUS actually the logic is good, whatever firearm you're considering is superior to Glock is irrelevant, because either Glock or Brand X are both way better than you are.
Øystein Dyb Hanssen amen hallelujah brother!
Excellent video. I knew the Gen 5 vid was going to be awesome. This video exemplifies the perfection that T. Rex Arms is. Nice job. Let's not forget how beautiful the Gen 5 Glock looks.
+George Raab 👍🏼
I love the Gen 5 now they would work on the grip so arthritic wrest joints don't hurt after 50 rounds.
First time Glock Owner & I just got the 43x & I love it, it's my EDC inside the waistband .. I love it
I just got Glock 19 gen6 it’s revolutionary and shoots lightning bolts.
Basically if you are not left handed you should stick with your glock u have ... makes sense
Correct
I'm a lefty and I wouldn't buy it. No one uses slide lock 😂😂😂😂
I’m a lefty and I’m keeping the G4
+Truth Seeker excellent point
I'm a lefty never had any problem with Glock. Run these gun find.
"That's not how this works! That's not how ANY of this works!!!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmbo
finally someone NOT full of buuulllshiiiitttt
Funny, I thought it was all bullshit.
And I commend him on not wearing a stupid ass flat bill hat!!
Larry Coleman
He’s too full of himself to be full of anything else.
@@mangopog9814 sounds like someone who cant shoot
He has the skill. So i listen.
I believe what glock was referring to was reholstering when talking of the rounded nose on the slide. They found the angles of the square nose caught on holster whereas the round nose simply finds its home. Wasnt a fan of the round nose in the beginning but the look has grown on me personal.
Love how you speak with passion but also tons, tons of insight. This channel is the best
Fantastic review! There is so much misleading and incomplete product hype in the media today that you can rarely get truthful factual information unless you can test the product yourself. Your videos are honest, objective, and concise. Much appreciated. Thank you!
This is a really good review. All in all, a Glocks a Glocks a Glock.
GLOCKS give me a better feeling than any other pistol my GLOCK 19 shoots the best to me🤷🏾♂️
Mmm I dont know. I can objectively say that there are better shooting handguns than Glock. But the real reason anyone should use Glock is confidance that it will go bang every time. Thats why I like glock
I can respect the fact he is a Glock fanboy but he was honest about his thoughts on the gen 5 vs prior gen. Very well done man
I am 5 years late to this video, but I just wanted to let you know it's still serving a purpose! I just bought my first handgun which is a Gen 5 Glock 19. I do appreciate all the details covered in the video and the message put out in the end. You truly are an incredible instructor and thank you again for making this information available for free to people like me.
I like the box look...
@Tony Linardi, yup me too...matches my 87 Grand National.
Awesome videos! I've never trained but watching you at least gives me an idea of what to do. I really liked the instruction video on trigger pull technique... good stuff.
Excellent content. Keep up the great work bro.
Same here .
I think the could say "Glock Perfection" and pass a lie detector test . They ,sorry .
Id compare Gen 4 and Gen 5 and see which you feel more comfortable with since thats ultimately what matters.
will do. thanks!
Buy a CZ
+Arizona Patriot political correctness kills. Literally. You'll never hear PC on this channel. Nope. Showmanship? Yeah. Because we like being fancy with cameras. Hahaha
perhaps one of the best intro that sum up the exciting content.. thumbs up Lucas and T.REX Arms...!
That slow-mo at 1:54 was kind of cool with the music. Great video, thank you for explaining us all this little details between the g4 & g5. Also, Great advice at the end of the video.
Great vid. Good info. Awesome editing!
Why have they not cast Lucas to play John Wick?! The level of performance in presentation, acquisition, and engagement is so high, so refined it's art in practice.
Screw that he matches the Mitch rape category hell he should’ve trained Dylan
Lucas, that was some Grade A production quality right there.
Your camera man and post guy need raises.
The first gun I bought is a 19 gen 5. I think it's great
EGL24Xx The best gun is the one you train with 👌🏽
New Subscriber here, any thoughts on the 19X
Yeah.. It was supposed to be made for the military but Sig won the contract.. It is pretty much a Glock 45 meaning 19 slide with 17 handle (and a lanyard hole). The one disadvantage I found out about the 19x is, you cannot use any other glock magazine except the one made for 19x only.
This is John wick if he was a carrot
10:46 This final message is what earned my like.
2:48 is the pinnacle of badassary, like holy sheet
Mineocrusherz
You watch too many movies.
Still very happy with my Gen II, no reason to buy a new one.
i love how he dosnt try to advertise his product hardcore like other ppl on RUclips its just straight up annoying and hes straight to the point and wont sugar coat it. I barley ever comment but you deserve it great vid!!
Just wondering, why does he hit the back of the slide? Just thing he specifically does? Or is there an actual application for it? I've seen it elsewhere too.
Making sure the slide was fully in battery I believe. Since he did a press check right before that.
I completely disagree about the trigger, it is different, it is lighter, and the wall is far less.
Not Legal in California :/
It's insane that it's not in. California. I'm sorry bro. All I can say is vote them out
There are NOT ENOUGH conservative lawful citizens to vote anybody out of a political office here in Kalifornia.
Rob nasty isn't it gen 4's or 5's only available for law enforcement in Cali?
Not positive but I think no Glocks will be allowed for sale in Cali after Jan 1st 2018
Got ya wasn't sure how that works. I'm in Virginia and not something we worry about here. Thanks for the info.
2:50 ok bro we get it😂😂
First of all thanks for your time and dedication on making this video.
Dad?
Honey?
Fjord Fiesta yes?
Fjord Fiesta no no no no.... It's daddy?*
2:50 that weapon clearing tho
how do you not have more subscribers?
Humility, the lack of..
Everett Wilson
Some of us can see right through this guy. Obviously a hard worker but anyone who trains can do this shit with no problem. The only difference is we aren’t doing unnecessary press checks and taps. Also the retarded rapid movements to try and make everything look so “epic”, is just silly. Goes to show how many people there are on the internet who are just looking for someone to worship.
Like the gen 3 the best......
6:17 invisible gun lol
Truth practice and repeat
I need to train with this man lol
Awesome video my Brother👍🏽👍🏽 Great shooting and good information, keep up the good work Lucas🙏🏾.
Review info starts at 2:25. Run/gun display before. Thanks for pointing out the differences. These days you can’t find either gen to buy
