I was one of the first New York City Police Officers to get the Glock 19 in the late 80's. I also trained police officers with Glock 19. I carried a Gen 3 later after I retired. Then I switched to S&W M&P's. Bought a M&P CORE which is my favorite, a full size M&P in FDE that I used in a 2 day Carbine and pistol course when I was 69 years old. Put 800 rounds through one in 2 days without a hitch. Since then I've carried the M&P Shield, Shield Plus and Compact 2.0. All great guns. My opinion is that they're all reliable. Glock and the S&W M&P. I'm 73 today and still train with the Glock 19 Gen 5 and all my M&P's. Now I'm training my self to shoot with red dot optics on the Glock 19 Gen. 5 and a couple of my M&P's.

I switched from Glock to Smith M&P a couple years ago. Glock is a great platform, never go wrong with reliability. You can depend on it. That being said, the M&P line is everything I said about Glock. including better OEM triggers than Glock. Plus, Smith & Wesson is American that's a plus for me. But besides that, I am well impressed with my M&Ps!

Glock has a better history when it comes to 2nd Ammendment support. That was in the 1999-2001 time frame though and S&W has changed ownership a few times since then. Seems like they're in line with the 2A these days. You can kind of tell by their current line up. A possible sign of gun control freaks taking ownership of a gun company is the lack of variety offered and popular models being discontinued. Back then they discontinued all their 3rd generation autos. Most their revolvers larger than a J frame, and all they had was the Sigma, a Glock copy as determined by a civil court but not as good and some other stupid shit nobody wanted. I prefer DA/SA trigger autos but I've had a few different Glocks and a M&P 2.0 full size. That M&P is kind of s better gun. If it was the compact or one of the long slide models I would have kept it.

I own other pistols and revolvers but the M&P Compact and Shield plus are always my carry and home defense guns. I have on multiple times tho, kept my G17 locked in a safe in my SUV, because, well I know I can trust it in any climate and anyone (mainly my wife) can shoot it without thinking about safeties or anything.

I’ve used Glocks for years, and I don’t believe you have to do a lot of things to them to make them great; however, I now carry this version of the M&P with the Holosun 507c and love it.
The trigger is very good, especially for a factory trigger. I’ve always shot Glocks well, and frankly I don’t shoot the M&P any better, but the trigger on the M&P is better, for me. I do like the grip texture better than the Glock, and I like that its American made. I also like the slide serrations better on the M&P as well.
Can’t go wrong with either, but I do think if S&W had produced this pistol 25 years ago they’d own the market today instead of Glock. It’s that good. If you haven’t shot the new M&P M2.0 you really are missing out. It is perhaps the best COTS offering today.

I have owned Glocks since the early 90's. 14+ years ago I decided to try a M&P, then another and another and so on. I have several M&P's full size 1.0 models and 2.0's, 1.0 9C's and 2.0 compacts. Several of my M&P's have well over 10k rds through them, never an issue, never replaced a part. I have 2 of the full size 1.0's that I let people at the range shoot, friends and my kids with mostly steel case ammo without cleaning them, just to run a ton of ammo though them to see when they would start having issues. They kept running when I finally felt bad about how dirty they were and stripped them down to clean them after several thousand rounds of steel case ammo.
Coch comment, "if you are a Glock guy, try one of these, you may not be as much of a Glock guy as you thought you were"
I kept telling a friend that wouldn't have anything but a Glock, you really need to shoot one of my M&P's. "I wouldn't have anything other than a Glock". We went to the range, I had full size 9mm, compact 9mm and 45 M&P's laying on the table and told him to shoot any that he wanted. A couple weeks later, he called to tell me he purchased a M&P. Now a few years later, he probably owns more M&P's than I do!

I concur. The one thing that I like about a Glock over my M&P is that you can collapse the trigger on an empty chamber and it stays back. When I pick up my Glock from the dresser, I instantly know if there is no round in the chamber by the feel. My extended trigger finger naturally brushes the trigger and the rear-ward position tells me it is unloaded instantly in the dark. If the trigger is forward, it is loaded (though I press check to verify). The M&P trigger is always forward. It is a simple little thing, but I like that about the Glock. I like the ergos, sights, texture, and looks of the M&P. Both are equally accurate and reliable for me.

M&P 2.0 has better ergonomics with 18° grip angle, better trigger and sights. Hands down S&W blows Glock away in almost every category. The only thing Glock wins is aftermarket support. You need Aftermarket upgrades because stock Glock sucks

I've seen a lot of praise for the m&p 2.0... I had a shield years ago. It was a good lil handgun. I'll be in the market for a full-size handgun maybe next year. Just doing some studying. Good vid thanks!

Choices are great. I do prefer the S&W for the same reason, the grip and new trigger. Golden combo.

I made the switch to M&P once the 2.0’s with flat trigger came out. I carry a Performance Center Shield Plus and wouldn’t change a thing about it. For mid to full size guns I went with the 509 series by FN.

I own both the G19 Gen5 and the M&P 9 C with a 3.6" barrel. Both are reliable and accurate, but the M&P looks much cooler, which is probably only important to me. 😊

I have both so not taking sides, but there is nothing you need to do to a Glock except sights and that’s personal preference. No joke I seen a guy make tight groups at 25 yards (indoor range), with a Glock 17 all stock. I couldn’t believe it so I approached him and asked where did you learn to shoot like that, he replied in a very professional manner and he told me he was S.W.A.T. then you have guys like Hicko45 that can shoot wings of a fly with a stock Glock 19. Learn how to shoot a double action, revolver in double action and then you’ll know how to shoot a semiautomatic handgun. I know the guy he only shoots Wilson combat, and does nothing but complain about Glock triggers, just an outright nagging B****h every time I see I go the other way.

Can't go wrong with a Glock 19/23. Nite Sites, a Streamlight, and some talon grips on a Gen 3 is perfect IMO. That is until I got hold of a M&P 2.0. Coch is rite... The grip angle and texture feel more natural in the hand. It's a natural point and shoot weapon.

Truth is most modern handguns are reliable and accurate.
It's just the individual shooters preference.
There isn't much of a best.

I have both, the G19 is probably the most common pistol in circulation…
It’s too bad the stock trigger and grip angle are trash. The M&P was decent out of the box, and great with an Apex flatty.

My first time watching your videos, liked the viedo keep them up. I just bought a S&P 2.0 few months back. So far I love it. Im getting a little more on the heavy side, (6'4" 280) and had to find the right holster for my 3 oclock conseal carry. The factory sight tends to grab some flesh :).. It does feel great in the hands, but I havn't ever used the glock, so no comparison from me.

M and P 2.0 series for me. Never had any issues with the 1.0 or 2.0 series. You really can't go wrong with the M&P or Glock & both are reliable and well proven platforms. It's just a matter of preference.

    I'm torn! I started shooting Glocks. I have a Gen5 19, 23 and a 48MOS. I have an m&p 9 subcompact and a 40 3.6. I shoot them all the same, but find myself carrying the m&p 40 3.6 or the 48 mos more often. All are amazing, but M&P slightly gets the nod.😊

I personally started on a P226 and my lizard brain can not comprehend the Glock grip angle. I have to think about pushing the front of the gun down otherwise im shooting for the moon. I carry a m&p shield 40 every day. I don’t have to think about that glorious angle. It points naturally for me. I’m sure if i started on Glock it would be a different story. If i had thousands of rounds through a Glock I’m sure it would be just as natural, but i prefer my smith over a Glock. I don’t have to fit in with the boys. My smith works, it points naturally, and I’m super uncool. What else do i need?

It's so hard to like these kind of pistols after starting with a P226. I started with a Beretta 92FS. Then I decided to buy it's nemesis the P226, West German marked one at that. Later I got a Glock 19 and it was alright but kind of felt less than. I finally got a plastic striker pistol that gave me that 92FS/P226 feeling. That "Damn this is a nice gun" feeling.
