Nanaia Mahuta is probably the most well spoken and inciteful foreign minister NZ has had in many decades, but I would love to see her become more confident in the public arena. She obviously has a wealth of knowledge both foreign and domestic, but she comes across a little like Oliver twist when he asks "please sir can I have more". You must've watched a different report to me, or have construed her statement. She aligns with the 5 eyes mission insofar as it applies to security and intelligence... that does not extend out into economics.
Further - it is a bit rich for our closest neighbour, Australia, to be calling on NZ to reign in its economic relationship with China, given PRC remains to this day, a significant part of Australian economics.
What gives? Why is everyone hyperfocused on Nanaia? Where is the criticism of Australia? Where is the introspective analysis by the Australian's indeed, other member states?
As an aside to the discussion relating to Economics and Security - i call into the discussion the prevalence of racism and/or, prejudice, be it conscious or sub-conscious, in the criticism of anything Nanaia does.
