My wife and I danced to this song at our wedding celebration. The phrase, “follow you, follow me” is inscribed on the inside of our wedding rings as I felt it captures the essence of a true partnership. We’ve been married 33 years....what an excellent song!
That is so cool. We were married in 2007 and have a similar notion engraved in a wood plaque - Van Morrison’s Someone like You
I love this!
@@mikeverdile773 so sweet.
Your wife is a blessed woman
Blessed from God
When we were dating , the first time my husband told me he loved me was to this song . We'll be married 46 years in November. We played this song at our wedding . Still such a very special song to me ❤️
Wow , 46 yrs , congratulations !!!!
This song has always stopped me in my tracks mentally/emotionally. I have loved it since I was a young fella. I miss my youth at times. I miss my parents.
❤
My sister committed suicide. I clearly remember her singing/loving this song.
JK JOLLIFFE My God that is so horrible. They say time heals all wounds, I disagree some things are so devastating you just end up with a big brutal scar on your heart. I just lost my brother to cancer(multiple myeloma the worst) he was young, smart, a drummer, funny body builder. I always called him and he always had the answer to any questions. You can never replace a sibling. Please know that someone read your comment and totally understands the empty loss. Amy
me to lost my parnts to this song makes me think of them
Not sure I understand JKent, but I agree this song brings back found memories, so many have past since this was released, but it’s good that we can sit back and enjoy, hope all is well!
Our Wedding song in 1981 ❤❤❤❤❤ we still are together forever.

My Love Song To My Wife When We Got Engaged in 1977 & Married In 1978. ❤ Still Married 2024.
The song was released as a single in February 1978
Our wedding song too , married in 1980 , still in love 😊
You must have been in the band. That was before it was released.
How is it possible 45 years have passed so fast!? It seems like yesterday we were young and innocent with our whole life ahead of us!😔
To all those amazing memories, good or bad, and to the days we thought would last forever!❤
I couldn’t have said it any better!
I dream sometimes I’m 15 years old and it’s 1980 again…
Makes you wonder how many of these bands really realize the affect they had on so many people, especially if you were a teenager back in the 80's and look back and how there songs bring back so many cool times!!!!!!
that's music brother, from any era
This was my parent’s wedding song, they separated but never got divorced and stayed good friends they were married on June 26th 1988! Unfortunately on July 20th of 2022 my beloved dad passed away at 59 years young. My dad absolutely loved genesis he served 6 years in the army stationed in Hawaii, Germany, panama etc he always loved music & would sing all the time. I miss my dad every day like crazy. What I would do to go back in time! My mom misses him very much too, he had such a great sense of humor and positive attitude. I love you dad!!! December 26th, 1962 - July 20th 2022 🙏🏻🦋🕯️
Sorry about your loss. Good memories.
It is amazing how songs bring us so much comfort and get so much pain
I love genesis two
Your dad is always watching over you and you will be reunited.
That is so sad 😭 but I'm really glad that your parents had each other throughout their lives whether together or separated
Same ! Damn near almost.
🙏
Like others, This song is my Wedding song as well... but, I was married in 1997! As my wife and I were trying to decide what would be our song, I introduced her to this song. Being kids of the 80s, she knew Genesis but had never heard this song before. She fell in love with it immediately. It's our ringtones, on our wedding video, played by our kids on our anniversary, and more. I'm kinda glad this song is still under the radar. People are always surprised when I tell them this is "our song" because they have never heard of it. Then, they listen to it... and love it too.
DITTO 💜 I am 64 years old. I was in Highschool, fixing to graduate Senior Year, (CLASS OF 1978") TODD COUNTY CENTRAL HIGHSCHOOL
It’s my song to my wife of 36 years. She’s sticking with me, gratefully.
Keep appreciating her. She'll appreciate it AND cherish you.
Sounds like she's also got someone worthy of cherishing. Best of luck.
It's about to be my wedding song when i get married next week. Can't wait.
Just keep remembering to choose your battles and you'll make it another 36
My husband still sings this song to me, 23 years for us ...so far.
Isn't it miraculous that people can create such transcendent beauty❤?
Beautiful song. What a great time to be alive...growing up in the 60s, 70s & 80s. Thanks Phil & Genesis for being a part of the soundtrack of my life.
so true

My husband played this to me on our wedding day, and always signed my cards with Y&M (you and me) this is inside our wedding rings too, xx We would have been married 45 years in March, sadly he passed away in 2016.still love this song.❤
Phil Collins is one of the greatest musicians that has ever lived. He is prolific, and every genre he tackled, he mastered. A true musical genius.

Hands down this my favorite Genesis song and maybe top 10 all time
Yep. Favorite song of all time. The desert island one song pick. Irony lol. Second goes to Bryan Ferry's Slave to Love.
When Phil sings the first word, the very first word, 'Stay'... my heart drops to the floor. No matter where I am or what I am doing. If I look like I am listening to you I am not, all I hear is Phil. He has the voice of absolutely perfection.
Amen and I second that
"My heart drops to the floor." Very nicely written. This is a lovely, transcendent song.
Agreed. This is as wonderful today as it was ... What? 40 yrs ago. Man the yrs go by

For just about every song that he sang along with Peter Gabriel I know they were not both part of Genesis at the same time but you can actually remember or I can I can remember what age I was doing WOD where I was that's how much he stood out in my head and my brain as one of the most talented unique fantastic brilliant voices of our time

I Totally & Wholeheartedly Agree.

This came out in 78.
Listen to a beautiful tune called "angels above me" by a group called "stick figure". The lyric is unforgettable.

This song doesn't get played enough on the radio. I was in college when this song came out and I loved it then and love it now at 65.
How sad we must all grow old. One of my favorite songs of all time.
I prefer growing old than the alternative
I wish I had seen Genesis live! Every song, lyric, Phil's voice = perfection.
Just one single tear in each passing year
Music is so powerful to bring back memories. Those were golden years.
yes was simple back then
You’re right about that!!!
I agree, takes me back to 1977/78 golden years for me
God bless you.
This is the perfect song to put some headphones on, sit back in the recliner, turn out the lights and just simply enjoy. If it were on repeat that wouldn't hurt my feelings either.
The haunting guitar and synth in this song is mesmerizing. Thank you Genesis.
Agree...this song has everything and I could listen to it a trillion times.
Haunting. I like that. Got the headphones on and going for repeat.
It's my wedding song 7-18-1981 ❤
Still with my husband, and we sing this together still 🎉 😊❤
Phil Collins not only sings, he also plays all these instruments as well as the sax. now that's what I call talent!
I’ve never seen Phil play Sax
@@michaelkatz4675 That's because he pretends to play sax in a video and people today have no grip on reality.
It’s such a shame he can’t play any instruments now due to back surgery that went wrong. We saw him last year and I couldn’t believe how old he looked! His son played the drums, he’s very good at it too x
He's likes variety. That's why he's been married like 80 time.

The GOAT
Everytime for sure. I can listen to this song four times in a row and love it each time.
if i could listen to a song endlessly on repeat, it would be this one.
If I had had music at my wedding in 1984 this would have been my wedding song - I love you M, forever and always! Regretfully I didn't plan my own wedding, it was planned for me by my family (which was lovely), and they seemed to forget how important music was for me at the time (and always will be). We didn't end up with any other music at the wedding besides a radio, and tbh I have no idea what radio station was chosen. It was all handled by everyone else, and we just sort of showed up and went through the motions. The perspective of an anxiety riddled bride... Someone put on a radio and we never danced and everyone got drunk except me. We snuck out and left them to it and headed out to the Poconos - The Wedding Capital of the East. The Adam and Eve Apple Pie room. And we spent the next few decades together in Love and Happiness, for the most part, with E and J added to the mix to make us grow up and be more responsible, and love more than we knew we could. We four were a force to be sure. I miss those days so much, please don't fault me for wanting days back with my children as children, I miss those kids so much. I love the adults they've become, but I miss their childhoods and their little hands and their cute smiles and their Love; the memories of them as children are a sun shining on my heart.
I've added this song to my list of songs I put aside for you, My Love. As of this writing it's been 39 years we've been together, 38 as 'man and wife,' and I cannot and will not ever regret one moment of our time together. Ups, downs, ins, outs - we've been through so much together, endured many a hardship, faced death several times and man, have we lived! The music, the days dancing in the sun - the joy we've felt together, being together, just enjoying our friendship and Love. I wouldn't trade a minute of it for anything else in the universe. I love you now, always and forever.
Your story sounds wonderful. ❤
You are indeed blessed. Such a sweet love story. People live a lifetime to have never experienced the joy you have...cheers to you for many more years of health & happiness!
Me and my boyfriend who passed from liver cancer used to sing this song together 🎉🎉

My first Genesis Album. I remember it perfectly as I would hear this song continuously play on the radio. Bought the album when I was a Sophmore in HS. Love Genesis!!!!
I can rememeber skipping school, staying home, "sick in bed" just to listen to 3 sides live over & over again....ahhhh those years were the best. Brilliant song - have always loved it!
Every word in this song is good, but, you stopped before getting to the words that I must sing when I hear them. 'In the dark I see so clearly, now. All my fears drifting by me so slowly, now. FADING AWAY.' So many of his songs are like horoscopes where they can be applied to many different situations for many different people. Many people have posted about how Phil, with his songs, has helped them through some tough times (myself included). Many can see themselves and their circumstances/situations in his songs. In how he makes his voice sound, too. It's like, 'Yeah, Phil gets it'.
Beautifully written ! What great songs came from these guys .

Hi I recommend a song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
That's Tony Banks. A year after this album was released Phil's marriage was on the rocks and his wife moved to Vancouver. Phil followed but unfortunately the marriage ended. Makes me wonder if this video was recorded during that time.
I love Peter Gabriel's music, I also love him for leaving this band. Genesis' new sound was magical.
The perfect love song. Other love songs are about feelings. This love song is about being there. Time is the test of love and that's what this song is about. "all the days and nights that we know will be." I have only loved one woman in all of my life. 41 years so far and I pray for 41 more.
I also had this as our first dance when I married.

I listen to this song whenever I miss my mother who passed. This was her and my father’s “song”. They’d have me DJ while they danced together in the living room, or on the back porch, and they’d invite me to dance too. She’s gone now, but my dad and I miss her dearly. Whenever I feel like I’m losing touch with her, I always come back to this song, and so does my dad. We miss you mumma, and we’re not angry anymore. We love you unconditionally and we’re sorry we weren’t there enough. We love you. ❤️
