Alone with you

All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year
With the dark,
Oh I see so very clearly now
All my fears are drifting by me so slowly now
Fading away
I can say
The night is long but you are here
Close at hand, oh I'm better for the smile you give
And while I live

There is a tendency to think that songs, lyrics especially, are written by the lead singer but this was not always the case with Genesis; especially after Gabriel left. Most Genesis songs were credited to the band as a whole, no matter who wrote them, though from "A Trick of the Tail" to "Abacac" they were credited to individual group members.
My daughter came home with this LP when she was 11 years old ,she’d bought it with her pocket money she had saved up ,as you might guess ,my jaw dropped,no more to be said.
Nothing can explain the joy that washes over me whenever I hear this.
Amen bro 🙂
Great song, but Phil's voice stands out at this one: emotion, longing and passion, simply brilliant!
My Mum passed this year and my Dad went about a month later. They were together for over 50 years and he had to go and follow her. This song reminds me of them and my wonderful childhood days of the late 1970's, no modern tech but the best times ever!!
❤
When you have amazing parents you are the most blessed, you realise that later in life and give thanks for them and honour them. That bond is one of the strongest in life.

Impressionante como essa música ainda está sendo ouvida hoje em dia. É uma obra eterna. Outro dia vi um vídeo do Phil Collins na cadeira de rodas cantando essa música. Vocês não imaginam o sucesso.
Very underrated song, good vocal , and great support from the band ! B , scotland
Também assisti. Foi a despedida do Genesis por causa dos problemas de saúde dele. Chorei bastante. 😢
Nos anos 80 havia um programa de sábado a noite na TV Cultura, Son Pop ficava torcendo por essa música tocar
