Music video by Genesis performing Home By The Sea/Second Home By The Sea (2004 Digital Remaster). -
Hearing this for the first time Feb 2024, absolute masterpiece, wish I had been in the audience
Try "MAMA" on the same album!✌
... I'd rather say:
Try the WHOLE album - it's amazing song by song, no filler amongst them!
How I wish music of that class ( like generally in the 80s / 90s ) would return..!
where have you been ?
The British rule the world of music, they are the best.
Amazing song still in 2023. So glad to have experienced Phil Collins and Genesis in my lifetime. Thank you guys. ❤
Inolvidable cancion de genesis ¡¡¡ que bien sonaba!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
This is not a song. This is an opus. And this is a masterpiece!
An outstanding opinion on the song. This is an epic school of music, dating from the 1970s - to tell an epic story throughout the song, a woven fabric of words and music, warp and weft, vocals and instrumentals
Ha ha ha Superb comment 🤣 An Opus it is indeed and a masterpiece even to this day in 2023
🙏 amen
Bravo exact !!
❤❤❤so amazing 🎉Just music ❤❤❤
1983: Heard this on my Walkman aged 17 and was never the same again.
I hear you. 10 or 11 years ago :D
True
Why? Did you get run over?
I know. For me, the ending is virtual perfection but the live solo and ending just beats it on the MAMA Tour video.
💪🎼👍🤪
Genesis is a synthesis of why people miss the 80s
And the 70s
Tony banks was the brains behind genesis
I know
To still be listening to this song in 2022. And still feeling so many emotions.
What a masterpiece.
In music time never fades.
Love it. Scary it was. Mean album Mama and namepiece Mama. I was something like twelve at the time. Mama was beautiful and creepy. Home By The Sea was nice but long for me then. It has became more important later years for me.
Me too
Yur home wil fall off the cllf into the se
😊😊

Hands down my favourite Genesis song, hard to imagine I have been enjoying this for nearly 37 years and still continue to do so...
Same here since my childhood!
yep me as well
❤
Que música maravilhosa amoooooooo
Yep, and mine particularly second home by the sea.
I've been so lucky I could see them live in Milan, Italy, in 1987, during the Invisible Touch tour: one of the greatest music moments of all my life!!
Home by the Sea
Abacab
I can't Dance
Jesus He Knows Me
Land Of Confusion
That's All
Turn It On Again
In Too Deep
No Son Of Mine
Those are some of the greatest songs by Genesis
How the hell can they perform live just the same as the studio record! Even the vocals! Bravissimo!!!
It actually is the studio track. This is not live, they are just lip-synching and pretending to play. There is even no audience.
@@AnssiRai I myself prefer them lip-synching and pretending to play rather than having them doing it live.
Dude, this is just a music video that was shown on TV. You are listening to the studio recording. Chester and Daryll weren’t actually playing on the recording.
This kind of music never will become old. Love Phil Collins forever.
All genius musicians in their own rights. Together, pure magic.
Phil Collins is literally god
Magnifique
Ein absoluter Hammer.!!! Eben Genie -sis.., Vor allem Second Home by the Sea, absoluter Soud!!!
The vocal here is just incredible.
Potrei ascoltarla per ore! Strepitosa! Band come i genesis nn ne nascono più!
The Golden years when music was at it's best, so very lucky to have grown up with it. .
Such an underrated song. Too smart for masses. So unique!
A band at their absolute peak. Such an epic, moving piece of music ♥️
Phil Collins is peaking here. Fantastic!
Unbelievable how there is absolutely no difference in Phil’s performance between studio and live. Legend.
This isn’t live
the video is a live performance, the audio is studio
@@poptartdrumstudios7600 What’s your evidence for that? Just because they are on a stage doesn’t mean they aren’t miming to a backing track.
Phil Collins was like a Sherlock Holmes in the pop-rock music culture. He's unique, smart, and out of the box with his own class.
good good answer ;)))))))
You know he contemplated suicide seriously and is AGAIN having trouble with his third wife? I don't think he has all the clues he needs.
@@ColtraneTaylor contemplating suicide is a serious thing but it doesnt make someone stupid, it just means their life isnt going good. as for the wife thing, hes had many partners be cunts to him in his life, thats their fault for fucking him over. some things in life cant be answered ig
@@someperson6252 But if all his partners are wrong then he must be making mistakes somewhere. His first wife said he liked to shout instead of discussing. The evidence is HERE in the song! And many others.
@@ColtraneTaylor 1. it has nothing to do with him being a musical genius. 2. theres a big part of luck involved in finding the right partner and theres a lot more to not being depressed than making the right choices
Lyrics:
Creeping up the blind side
Shinning up the wall
Stealing through the dark of night
Climbing through a window
Stepping to the floor
Checking to the left and the right
Picking up the pieces
Putting them away
Something doesn't feel quite right
Help me someone, let me out of here
Then out of the dark was suddenly heard
Welcome to the home by the sea
Coming out of the woodwork
Through the open door
Pushing from above and below
Shadows but no substance
In the shape of men
Round and down and sideways they go
Adrift without direction
Eyes that hold despair
Then as one they sign and they moan
Help us someone, let us out of here
Living here so long, undisturbed
Dreaming of the time we were free
So many years ago
Before the time when we first heard
Welcome to the home by the sea
Sit down, sit down, sit down
Sit, down, sit down
As we relive our lives
In what we tell you
Images of sorrow, pictures of delight
Things that go to make up a life
Endless days of summer
Longer nights of gloom
Waiting for the morning light
Scenes of unimportance
Photos in a frame
Things that go to make up a life
Help us someone, let us out of here
'Cause living here so long undisturbed
Dreaming of the time we were free
So many years ago
Before the time when we first heard
Welcome to the home by the sea
Let us relive our lives
In what we tell you
Sit down, sit down, sit down
'Cause you won't get away
No, with us you will stay
For the rest of your days, sit down
As we relive our lives
In what we tell you
Let us relive our lives
In what we tell you
Wonderful.
👍✌️
Some voices just never die. Love you so much Phil & Genesis.
In a Hundred Years this is going to be considered the classical music of the 20th Century
I'm addicted to this song. It's so catchy, so cool, so... perfect!
I first encountered Genisis back in the invisible touch days, 85 I think? I have that album on tape! And so my more on vinyl. We got to see them a few months ago, Phil looked
a shadow of his shining glory, I only hope he is well soon x
Creo que Home by the sea es la estrella de Genesis y su dios Phill Collins.
A diario.?
After all these years, Genesis still amazing
Always!
the best
One of Phil's best vocals.
I love Tony Banks' keyboard riff on the chorus!
The Best Rock Song ever made. The combination between drums and guitar is unthinkable out of the world. The music just blows out the mind out of gear.
Nice comment.
Makes the same to me !
plonker
@Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow 1977 Even far not the best from Genesis. Tastes are different, but quality can be measured.
@@tomschmidt4355 Measure quality of emotions? Naaah...
Who is still listening to this song in 2021?
It's just amazing!!!!!!!
I AGREE
Sure. Phil is one of the best singers ever. Amazing. Genesis forever...
Thank you so much mr banks, mr collins and mr rutherford for this great masterpiece. I've been listening this for thousands of times and never once get bored ^_^ - from indonesia
Saw this show at Birmingham, UK in 1984. First time with the full Varilights - astonishing; never seen anything like it, and the sound balance was the best I'd ever heard - before or since. A real privilege.
First time they used the varilight was on the encore tour in 82 not the Mama tour in 84 .
Bravo, Genesis! Bravo, Phil Collins! 👏💐🎼🎶💖✨
Phil Collins 👏😍👏
Both Songs ( Home By The Sea and Second Home By The Sea) are one of the best demostrations of the Great 80's era, the right sounds and the nicely voice from Phil Collins are the perfection from Genesis!!!
What a group of musicians these guys were. Off the charts good with Banks threading the keyboard line right between Mike and Daryl.
Good thing there is internet,to listen tô these rarities. In Brazil we love Phil Collins.
This is a never-tiring melody. Great tune, perfect voice, virtuous music. Immortal as they are!
I think this was the best they did in the 80's after Duke. It's pretty amazing . I love it.
This is why I get frustrated when people dismiss 80s Genesis. This song would have been a highlight on any album they ever made.
With this song I felt in love with Genesis... that was many years ago. The discussion of what period is better, doesn´t make any sense. My favourite band of all times. Greetings from Argentina.
Images of sorrow pictures of delight, things that go to make up a life 🥰... Legendary songwriting ❤️❤️❤️
I like it very much too...
@@U2lover that means a good taste in music girl 👌
And it's one of many tracks, which prove that the progressive rock-era was NOT done after leaving of Hacket/Gabriel
So very well said
"dreaming of the time we were free...". Catched me in these times today...
still listening genesisi in march 2023
Genesis is one of my favorite Rock Band ever 😊😎✌️👍❤️
What a brilliant song home by the sea brings back memories as a kid growing up in the 1980s era i wouldnt change it for anything thank you phill colins
Both lyrics and sound are absolutely beautiful, just out of this world. And Tony showing us why he was the genius of the band.
This is one of my favorite Genesis Songs from the Collins era.
GENESIS...HOME BY THE SEA.
SUPER TRAMP......SCHOOL
E.L.O......CONCERTO FOR A RAINY DAY
KATE BUSH......CLOUDBUSTING.
Musical Masterpieces.
Imho the best song from Phil’s era
Seriously underrated song. Come on who agrees????
It still breaks my fucking heart, it’s so touching. Love it to pieces after all these years. ❤️🙏
😊
there are no words to describe this piece. Just chills, great Phil, great Genesis. Second by the sea is a drug, to be listened to on a loop. Love ❤️

Home by the sea was the starting point in discovering genesis at the age of 13 and remains an all time favourite Then at 17 i discovered the gabriel era and i found treasure in life in the form oF PROG!!!!
Bravo. Glad you discovered the Gabriel & Steve eras Genesis. I've been a Genesis fan for 46 years. All their stuff is great, but the Gabriel era stuff is TRULY MAGNIFICENT PROG.
As a teenager I saw Genesis at Old Trafford in 2007. Had never heard them before, I remember really being struck by this song. I've enjoyed their music ever since.
What a song! Phil for ever...
With these songs we relive our lives.
In 1983 when this was released, the song was fantastic, but also the lighting rig used for the tour (and this video) was technologically advanced. "Computer controlled" was on the bleeding edge when you consider 8/16megabites of RAM being available! Stunning song that stands the decades of time. Classic.
Omg I was a teen when I first heard this I loved it then am still playing it now 2023 & loving it more phil and guys rock🎉❤
Genesis is my favorite band on rock.
my favourite song since 1983 (from Indonesia)
My introduction to Western music was through this song. My dad had a cassette, and on side b was Genesis. This song blew me away, especially the keyboard riff in the 'sit down' portion. I used to rewind that small part over and over again. 😅
I loooooove this song since the 80s rock on Phil
Genesis - Home By The Sea / Second Home By The Sea piece became history of the music.
To jest czysta magia. Brak słów.
😍😍😍 ❤❤Phil Collins and Genesis
Mighty. Just put it on,sit down and let it wash over you. Class
This is a real masterpiece! Phil Collins rocks! 💜
I am a Ukrainian musician from Kiev.
Genesis Group discovered for himself in 1985.
I remember every note of this composition and guitar solo.
Thank!

1984..I miss..oh God
its nice to hear a classic song again without silly comments and no spelling mistakes
Phil Collins vocals are just amazing!
His voice Always gets me through tough times 🙂
Agree, he is a very underrated singer.
Phil Collins was like a Sherlock Holmes in the pop-rock music culture. He's unique, smart, and out of the box with his own class.
Peter Gabriel taught him all he knows!

thank god for Genesis!! And for put out their art of making real and meaningful songs!!
Great job.. chester thompson & genesis... awesome, so fantastic 👍👍💢🌷
Very nice 🤞💫💥
I wanted to hear this on the beach and i made it happen 30 years later in 2015 when i went with a good set of speakers and mini disc player to dish it out under the starry night and waves crashing on the sands! It was glorious!
GREAT GRAT GRAT !!!!!!!
My ears ring as if it was today.
Thanks, brother, Phil!
I wish I would know Australia,

One of the best songs ever created. Sublime.
But dont forget Rutherford and Banks!!
Genesis is not Mr. Collins.
He is nothing by Genesis without this two genial musicans!!
By far one of the best songs Genesis ever wrote alongside
Land Of Confusion

I heard this when I was in junior school..damned the music was so good...I love you Phil.🎉
Their bloom was WELL off the rose by the time they did this!
Saw genesis last night in Leeds love Phils voice and his son on the drums was just fantastic im so happy I finally got to see them my dads a huge fan and we always had it on when I was a kid ❤
Chester is machine I love watching him drum, his focus ,precision and intensity are evident, he is a true professional .
Absolute Classic!
I miss music. Music this good will never come again with later/present generations only able to/interested in operating cellphones and taking selfies for 'social' media.
