A long long time ago, I danced to this song with a friend from school. It was our first dance together. Then we went our separate ways, married, had familires. I never heard of Frankie Goes To Hollywood before I met my husband. He used to sing this song to me. I would always melt when he sang, "with my undying death-defying love for you."
Very powerful and very under appreciated. Can’t ever go through Christmas without listening to this or watching the video where we know the video and every note inside out. I’ll protect you from the Hooded Claw, keep the Vampires from your door…… ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was 8 years old when this track came out. All the sounds, smells and tastes of my childhood are coming back to me everytime I listen to it. Brilliant, wonderful song.
When Harry said at the beginning of the movie "there's vampires at my door" and Adam replied to him at the end of the movie "I'll protect you from the hooded claw Keep the vampires from your door" 😢
So many touching comments for this song, I actually came close to tears reading some of them. Isn’t that a beautiful thing? this song and it’s message still resonates and reaches out globally after all these years. An evergreen Christmas song in my house and a Desert Island Disc. Hope everyone here had a great Christmas
it introduced myself and my partner, both in our early 20s, to some beautiful music that we otherwise wouldn't have known of because we weren't even thought of in the 80s 😊I'm very grateful for that film for including it in the soundtrack
Harry: "How come no one found me? Where are my friends? My brother and sister. Where are my mum and dad?" Adam: "I found you." Harry: "But I don't want you to see me like that. Not like that. In there." Adam: "You are not in there. This is you, here. With me."
I've always loved this song since I was a little kid and its always been on my Christmas playlists. But seeing a preview of All Of Us Strangers last night has meant it will have an even more special and deep connection for me. A truly beautiful song that absolutely deserved to be a key part of such a moving, heartbreaking, gorgeous and harrowing film.
I am in the US where this song is not well known. While I was familiar with FGTH 's other hits, I had not heard this one till a few days before Christmas 2022, while listening to a UK Christmas music program. I was just stunned with the vocals, lyrics and powerful meaning of the song!!! As we are nearing Easter 2023, I am STILL listening to "The Power Of Love" and it still has the same gripping effect on me as when I first heard it. MAKE LOVE YOUR GOAL!!! 💗
Glad you love this song.... It's my all time favourite Christmas song. Brings tears to my eyes 🥲 and gives me goosebumps. Funny you mentioned being an American, never heard of it... Being Dutch we have lots of foreign hits in our chart: Italian, Spanish, German, English et cetera.... When I was in the USA for the first time, an American friend drove me around. When I sung „Country road, take me home...." from John Denver, she looked at me suprised and asked „Do you know this song?" Yes ofcourse!? We follow the American music industry too 😅
US here, I've loved this song since the 80's. It's not well known, but it did have a pretty sporty run on MTV, back when they played videos. It's stunning.
@@Haroekoe The song never made the Billboard Hot 100 (US main music chart) which was odd given FGTH's MTV airplay. I had heard of the title but never heard the song back then.
@@janpcs beauty is in the eye of the beholder. During Christmas Imagine of John Lennon is more often played, also Driving Home For Christmas of Chris Rea. I see the Power of Love as a Christmas message therefore a Christmas song. On top of that, the videoclip shows the Christmas story. On the other hand, I was raised by a religious mother, I was baptised, but I am far from religious myself. But „Make Love Your Goal" is something that suits every day, every religion
I saw this video for the first time as a kid in a tv-show where you could call in and wish music videos. I was probably 7 or 8 years old. It was around christmas time. Ornaments in the house. All the christmas smells. A lot of christmas anticipations.. I was watching the tv-show and all of a sudden this video comes on. And for some reason my little jaw dropped. I was completely swallowed and mesmerized by this song and this video. And i remember i felt so moved by it. It’s crazy what music can do. I was a little kid. And still to this day, this is like a christmas song to me. I heard it around christmas time that one evening watching tv when i was a little kid. I am 28 now, and every year around christmas i have to look this up. This song is so powerful to me and it has a special place in my heart. Some songs just etch themselves to you and become a part of you. Merry christmas everyone ❤

Can't believe I just watched 'All of Us Strangers' today (cried because of the film). Films have gems like this. My Spotify is filled with soundtracks that, when I listen to them, remind me of all the movies I've invested in.
❤ All of us Strangers
A friend of us sang it at our wedding in a small medieval church...I' ll never forget this very moment...I loved this song since I'm a child and nowadays it becomes even more important to me... we need this power worldwide ♥️
The only feelings people have for me is indifference and hatred

@@sunseeker0001 hi, wise friend, do I no you,,, ?
I never heard of Frankie Goes To Hollywood before I met my husband. He used to sing this song to me. I would always melt when he sang, "with my undying death-defying love for you."
Very powerful and very under appreciated. Can’t ever go through Christmas without listening to this or watching the video where we know the video and every note inside out. I’ll protect you from the Hooded Claw, keep the Vampires from your door…… ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I absolutely love this song. Christmas isn't Christmas until I hear this song, and the video just says it all ❤

80's, freedom music, what happiness. I miss that !
I was 8 years old when this track came out. All the sounds, smells and tastes of my childhood are coming back to me everytime I listen to it. Brilliant, wonderful song.
you have good teste
That's beautiful my friend God bless
That is lovely
Ok boomer
I was nine! All the 1984's pop songs is magical to me, especially this one!
When Harry said at the beginning of the movie "there's vampires at my door"
and Adam replied to him at the end of the movie "I'll protect you from the hooded claw
Keep the vampires from your door" 😢

So many touching comments for this song, I actually came close to tears reading some of them. Isn’t that a beautiful thing? this song and it’s message still resonates and reaches out globally after all these years.
An evergreen Christmas song in my house and a Desert Island Disc. Hope everyone here had a great Christmas
one of the best things about 50 years old,is the fact that i lived my teenage years in the 80's that is priceless and Iam grateful !!!

A timeless classic, if you don't feel moved by this you have a heart of stone
I am moved
I have a human heart.
Love love love it
First time in my life listen this song. May, 2022. I never listen after on 80's
Adorabile questa musica
Agree 1000% 😢😞🥰
'Like' if you didn't come from that film, but the 80's instead 👍
Has been one of my favourite songs since the day it was released 😊
it introduced myself and my partner, both in our early 20s, to some beautiful music that we otherwise wouldn't have known of because we weren't even thought of in the 80s 😊I'm very grateful for that film for including it in the soundtrack
Harry: "How come no one found me? Where are my friends? My brother and sister. Where are my mum and dad?"
Adam: "I found you."
Harry: "But I don't want you to see me like that. Not like that. In there."
Adam: "You are not in there. This is you, here. With me."
"How come no one found me?" That was the most heartbreaking scene amongst so many heartbreaking scenes.
1984 was a year of exceptional music! 🎵
good music is alike fine wine
You're right! 1984 was wonderful!
Yes it was .
youre goddamn right!
A seattle radio station relished playing music from 1984 in its journey for 50 years of music 👍🏻
😎
I wasn't a big fan of FGTH, but men, this song is truly fantastic. A timeless masterpiece
salut gros
Absolutely amazing song.
Agreed. Never a fan of FGTH...but this is superb.
@@tsy0704 To be fair Welcome To The Pleasure Dome is the only good album they made. But then again they only made 2 albums before breaking up.
@@tsy0704 It's beautiful
I've always loved this song since I was a little kid and its always been on my Christmas playlists. But seeing a preview of All Of Us Strangers last night has meant it will have an even more special and deep connection for me. A truly beautiful song that absolutely deserved to be a key part of such a moving, heartbreaking, gorgeous and harrowing film.

All of us strangers recontextualizing that song in a huge way !
Very well done BBC 😢😢
When I sung „Country road, take me home...." from John Denver, she looked at me suprised and asked „Do you know this song?"
Yes ofcourse!? We follow the American music industry too 😅
US here, I've loved this song since the 80's. It's not well known, but it did have a pretty sporty run on MTV, back when they played videos. It's stunning.
@@Haroekoe The song never made the Billboard Hot 100 (US main music chart) which was odd given FGTH's MTV airplay. I had heard of the title but never heard the song back then.
@@Haroekoe But it is not a Christmas song.
Wow! One of the best songs ever. This beautiful song shows the story of the birth of Jesus and God's unfailing, unconditional love. This is so pure and emotional.

The words of the song don't show that. It is only the video.
